Love it!
I really like this coat! But there is a few things that could be improved. I am 5'9, 145lbs and the length is great, the sleaves are long enough, and is super easy to move in. I was not too excited about the thumb holes. The idea is genius and I was so looking forward to them, but they need a solid 2 more inches for them to be wearable. They are fine as long as I don't lift my arms at all or else they dig and become very painful and almost cut off circulation. There is no give to them at all. Also, the material is not very durable. After the first wear, to the market, there were snags on the forearms and I don't even remember getting them. And last, the loop on the zippers are not wide enough to put a snowboarding pass through them. I had to zip tie my day pass to my pants because there was nowhere to put it. But the coat itself does the job perfect! It is the warmest coat I have ever owned!! I dont get too hot either! The omni-shield is a dream come true! I even spilled an entire drink on it while it was on my lab and it ran right off! The snow skirt is a perfect fit too! It is also cut for curves so you still look like a girl wearing it! I am extremely happy with it minus those small defects. I get compliments on it all the time and 2 of my buddies have bought it after they tried it on.

Fantastic Jacket!
This was a great jacket for Skiing. I bought this to wear for my first time skiing. I am from Texas and went skiing in Canada where the temp that day was about 10F an wind chill of 2F and I was totally warm in this jacket! Also, I got random complements from others who had bought columbia jackets with Omni-heat and they all said the jackets are very warm and reliable for years! I was initially concerned about buying the XS jacket knowing I would have layers on, but the jacket fit perfectly even with layers. I am a 5'5'' and 12o lbs with long arms and the XS was a very good fit. The only problem is the wrist guard cut into my thumb a bit, but I hear that is common for this type of jacket.

Warmth when you need it
I'm one of those people who is always cold.
I wore this jacket to head out to dinner when it was in the mid 30's and I was warm and toasty.
I'm 5'8" tall and sometimes have issues with sleeve length but not with this jacket, maybe because of the "thumb holes " built into the wrist band? I didn't feel like the sleeves rode up when I reached up to the steering wheel.

My favorite Winter coat so far
I love this jacket. The hood is a love/hate. The "fur" can be removed if you don't want it, but it's a nice feature on cold windy days. The coat is long enuf, but not too long. Fit's like a glove (both slimming and feminine).
The only things I'm not to fond of are the hood draw cords and the holes in the coat sleeves for your thumbs. Yes, it keeps the chill from going up u're arm, but they are tight.
The hood draw cords are tricky and seem cheap. I'm worried that over time, w/more wear, the plastic will break and i'll be fat outta luck to replace it. Otherwise, i luv this coat. Warmth thus far. And of course I have yet to test it out in the snow, bc Massachusetts has been blessed w/NO SNOW this winter!!

Best Coat Purchase for Cold Weather Fun!
Arrived just in time for my girls weekend away at Wisp Resort in MD; great cold weather protection - fit is perfect - I only needed a t-shirt underneath. Only complaint is that thumb holes from sleeves was a little tight for me but I have long arms - other than that I love this coat!

Beautiful First True Winter Jacket
I live in FL, but purchased this jacket for my upcoming trip to upstate NY and future visits to my bf's hometown, Winnipeg.
I haven't been able to properly test the Omni-Heat due to the climate here, but in my decision process, I paid most attention to reviews from folks in MN, WI and Canada because (in my opinion) nobody knows cold better.
For fit, I highly recommend you try on the jacket in-store at a Columbia-carrying retailer first. I am 5'7" and a lean 140lbs with a 36C bust. Had I gone by the size chart and majority of reviews from similar sized people, I would have bought a medium, but the small contours to my body beautifully and leaves room to comfortably layer.
I am extremely happy with the fit and glad I went with Sea Salt. I did not rate the quality as Excellent because the Velcro covering the zipper is a fuzz trap and the hoodie comes down over my eyes.

The reviews were convincing
I bought this coat based off all the good reviews I read and it's the best coat I have ever owned. I originally ordered the red jacket but it was an orangish red so I sent it back for the blue. The coat is very warm and comfortable. I love the big hood so it doesn't mess up my hair and it's fashionable too with the faux fur trim. If you want to be warm, comfortable, and still look good then get this coat.

If I can't have waterproof down, I'll take this any day!
I set out to find a warm winter coat that didn't sacrifice style for functionality - I really wanted something down-insulated, with a fur-trimmed hood, that would be waterproof as well. As it turns out, that is a hard item to find. I purchased one from The North Face (the Greenland jacket) with high hopes, but it made me look like a stuffed sausage (and I have a slender frame). So, I decided to try the Lay-D-Down jacket instead. Sure, it's only water resistant, but I'll wear a raincoat over it in a downpour if I have to. Other than that, it's absolute perfection. The Omni-heat has not failed to keep me toasty warm yet, and it's also very cute. I am 5'10", 140 lbs and a size small fit like a glove, with room for a sweater underneath. Not that I'd need it!

So close to perfect!
I like my coat. I would love my coat if the fit was better. I am between sizes 2 & 4 but bought the medium online because the fit of the small was very tight across the shoulders when I tried it on at the store. Now I have a coat that fits at the top but is baggy around the middle. Also, having gone up a size I didn't expect the thumbholes at the cuff to cut painfully into my hand. I can't even wear them! Maybe I have orangutan arms, but I feel as if this coat was made for a t-rex.
Everything else is fantastic; the collar is super soft, the omni-heat works great, I love where it hits at the hip and bottom, I will just have to tailor the coat myself to make it fit.
Great coat for narrow shouldered girls, athletically built girls might feel constricted.

Great customer service
Jacket was a little small, returned it and got the next size up. Customer service was awesome and my wife loved the jacket. I would recommend Columbia for all your jacket needs.

Absolutely LOVE This Jacket!
I'm 5'1/105 lbs and live in Michigan. Ordered an XS in dark turquoise (beautiful color) and overall is a perfect fit. VERY warm-no need for a fleece under and not much room for one either. Fitted cut is very flattering. Many great features. Only 2 minor negs-Had to roll sleeve cuffs up because they're 1.5" too long. Thumb hole cuffs are tight making it difficult to easily slip the jacket on and off. I'm hoping with time they'll stretch out enough. If not, I'll just cut them off as I don't really need them anyway. Spent 3x more than what I had planned to spend on a jacket, but worth every penny. My last jacket lasted 12 years, so averaged out, it's really quite a bargain!

Awesome Jacket
This Jacket has great features, classy, good fit and very warm. I seen the jacket in the store but they only carried the white & black. I wanted the teal but they did not carry it in the store....husband bought it online and the jacket is pretty....fits well and not too bulky. Definitely warm....if you live in -20 temps with withshield this is definitley the jacket to buy.

Great jacket!
A great jacket and a great purchase! I stay VERY warm in this in the freezing temperature climate I live in, WITH 20 mph winds. When the jacket is zipped all the way up with the hood pulled over the head, I don't need a scarf or beanie and have actually needed the underarm vents. I like that the faux fur is removable and the little pockets for my iPod, wallet, etc, add to the functionality of this jacket. I love the thumb slots in the sleeve and the soft lining around the neck. I do warn that since the jacket is slightly puffy from the feather packing, it fits a little more snug than other Columbia jackets I have in the same size. I just don't layer with this jacket. Also, a bit of wind can be felt in the sleeves, but I'm usually too warm in the jacket to mind!

Great fit; not a fan of the velcro
I love this coat. I didn't like the idea that if it didn't meet my needs it had to be shipped back with all tags attached as I would look pretty silly wearing it outside to test the warmth with all the tags attached, but I cut them off anyway and took my chances. It's very warm, fits well, and I love the holes for your thumbs in the cuffs. I am not a fan of velcro for the closures as it invariably gets dog hair, lint, etc. caught in it and looks bad; would prefer snaps or some other closure, but that's a personal preference. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Very Happy
I am 5'2" and 120 lbs. I purchased the large because my shoulders are very broad shoulders and I always wear sweatshirts and sweaters. I do not like for my shoulders and upper arms to be constricted in anyway. The arms are long on me, but I have come to accept how short my arms are compared to everyone else! If this coat could be purchased in petite sizes it would be 110% perfect! I have worn this coat on bike rides with my children and skiing (first time) and have stayed very warm. I purchased the white and would love to be able to afford a second coat in black!

Very warm
This is a very lovely coat. It is nice and warm and stylish. My only complaint is that it is a bit bulky, but with the warmth it provides it pretty much has to be.

Warm and not bulky
Perfect coat. I am always cold but do not like bulky coat. Fit great and LOVE the extra zippers inside. I have 3 boys in travel hockey.

I had a Columbia coat I bought last year on sale at a local store and it was a women's medium, because I was pregnant and needed the extra room. I was ready for a more feminine fitting coat this year that was more figure flattering and I found this one online. This coat is wonderful! I am 5'3 and 133lbs, petite build but rather large behind and hips and I got a size small. I live in Alaska where it is easily -25F regularly in the winter time and a proper coat is a must here. This coat keeps me warm, but gives me ventilation under the arms which is much needed especially when layering. The inferno pockets are a great help, and the zippers for the different parts of the coat seem sturdy and don't get hung up or in the way. I love the thumb holes too, and the snow skirt is nice, especially windy days when the snow blows up underneath your coat usually! Overall, great features and awesome quality!

AMAZING JACKET
I live in Southern California and bought this jacket online after trying it on at REI.. traveled to Hungary in December and heard I might freeze not being used to a colder winter climate. I LOVE THIS JACKET!!!! I'm 5'7" and 120 lbs.. I bought a medium so I could wear plenty of layers underneath, but found that I barely need them. This jacket is toasty warm and not bulky. I even found myself falling asleep in it at the airport and on the plane because it feels like a cocoon.
I really recommend this jacket for any mild-really super duper cold weather! I want the black one now too. :)

Great coat, poor quality zipper.
We purchsed simalar coats, a his and hers and the zipper on the mens Lhotse parka is a heavy duty plastic zipper. The zipper on the womens Lay 'D' down coat is very thin and failed on the second day it was worn. Overall the coat is very warm and we are pleased. We are just carefull about the zipper.

Runs small and narrow.
I bought this for my granddaughter who usually wears a medium size. It was so much smaller than the usual medium that it would not even zip up. I am 5'1" and weigh 11o pounds. I usually wear an 8 petite and this medium size jacket fits me fairly well except for the length. I had to shorten the sleeves by about 4 inches. I surely wish these jackets came in petite sizes.

Extremely Warm Jacket!
I received my jacket the week before Christmas, and it's beautiful right out of the package! I moved to Wisconsin in 2007, and have had trouble finding a winter jacket to keep me warm in our extreme below zero temperatures. I am 5'9" tall and the sleeves are the perfect length. The only thing is the jacket fits a tad on the small side, so I can't wear something too bulky underneath. I have gone to work in a T-Shirt, and have stayed warm with this jacket! The only other thing is I wish I would have gotten a darker color, as the "white" may show the dirt more.

Tried on 20 Jackets and this is going to be my new Winter jacket
I generally do not like puffy jackets when skiing. I am quite fashion conscious but demand the best function of especially my ski jackets. If my ski jacket doesn't have a little ring to attach the glove hook or ski pass, soft fleece at the collar that contacts the face area, or iphone pocket or even faux fur, I will buy the materials at a good sewing store, sew it, "fix it" somehow and make it happen to my clothing as I am quite handy with sewing.
I went to a popular store that had 50 styles of jackets. I tried on 20 of them, really examined all their features and wore each one for at least 5 minutes doing this and that to see how it would work. I could not take this jacket off. It was the warmest even among the down jackets I tried, that Omni heat stuff really does work! Also it is so comfy even with arm movement in the chest and arms, which alot of jackets mess up on. It is so functional, has powder skirt, pit zips to expell excess heat. I think the only things I wish it had was a little pocket containing a goggle wipe cloth on the left sleeve. I love the sleeve ends, the thumb holes create a great secure and comfortable wrist and hand area with velcro closures.
The faux fur on the hood is the best designed trim of any jacket today. It can fold out to be more protective on a windy and snowy day, or be folded back, or completely zipped off as well as the insulated hood altogether. I wish the fur was real fox or coyote.
There is not much that I can tweak on this jacket to make it more perfect.
For me, I was surprised that the XS fit me perfectly, so I think this jacket runs large, with a decent amount of room in the chest. I am 5'5" 120 and usually wear a size 4 jacket because I am a 34D chest and the XS was perfect, the size S was just too huge and sleeves too long.
Also, the price is absolutely a steal for this quality!!

a few more tweeks could have made it perfect.
I am still debating between the Xs and the s. I am 5' 7" and 115lbs. The xs fits so nice and is not bulky, but the arm holes and shoulder area is not spacious enough - armpit area definitely annoyed and for skiing it may become constricting. But the small is too large around the waste so it just feels too big. I just wonder if they actually put xs people in the coats, because the shoulder area should fit, and I don't know of people with smaller arms than I do who are adults. The zipper could be better quality, because if you don't get it snugly at first it sometimes comes undone from the bottom. It is VERY warm, though, Love the hand extensions. But again, it isn't perfect. when I stretch my arms forward like I would skiing where it goes between my thumb and finger there is NO stretch. If it had an extra piece of really stretchy material it would have been much better, because the way it is just makes me hands hurt without the stretch between the very tender area. I will definitely be adding my own piece of extra material there. But yeah, because it's warm enough to ski in all day (haven't tested it I guess, but I did go outside at night in MN and I felt like I could be there all night!) and cute enough to wear everyday, it will have to do! Wish it came in brown, too.

COZY and lightweight.
This is a fantastic jacket. I am tall and normally have major problems with sleeve length. With this jacket the sleeves are perfect if I don't use the thumbholes. The hood is perfect and very warm.

Very Nice Jacket!
I am 5'8 and 120 lbs and I got the xs. It fits very nice and snug. The sleeves are plenty long enough and I love the thumb holes to keep my wrists warm. This jacket keeps me so warm. Everybody else is shivering and I am nice and toasty in this jacket. I love that I can remove the fur if I want to or I can remove the entire hood, too. There are lots of hidden pockets on the inside so things don't get lost. I am overall very pleased with this jacket and the quality of it.

Cold tempretures no problem
This product is very warm. Ordered it for my wife to use in tempretures below 32 degrees, which it is currently and she absolute loves this jacket. Previous jacket was North Face and is equal to if not better. Added plus is that this jacket is not as bulky.

Love this jacket!
This is the best winter jacket. The sleeves are long enough, the fit is perfect. It is light but still keeps me warm. No "over-stuffed" feeling. Plus it's adorable. I am 5'7" and about 180 lbs. I got the XL size.

Awesome coat
Runs a bit big. Tried on in a store and decided to go with a large. I am 5'9" and wanted it to be long enough and I have long arms. Fits great over layers. Very warm yet not bulky. I love the sleeves and the thumb holes in the cuffs. Keeps wrists extra warm. And the hood fits nice. Last coat I had with the fur trimmed hood flopped down over your eyes it was so big.....

Overall awesome jacket, but not for skiing
If you are looking for a jacket that is warmer than your puffy Northface, classier than your ski-jacket and comfortable in every situation... this is the jacket for you. I choose this jacket because I live in Wisconsin and it's darn cold. I wanted something I could wear to work at the office and feel classy in.
Quality is good, not great because I would have liked a higher quality down insulation, this jacket is only 550 fill count.
Function is good, not great, because I never would wear this jacket skiing. I don't know why they position this as a ski jacket, the snow skirt only gets in the way (I prefer a thin shell for skiing).
My only other complaint (and it's small) is that my arms get incredibly warm when wearing it. Guess that's proof that the omni-heat really works!
Overall, awesome jacket!

Great winter coat!
This coat is very warm and flattering. It has a lot of neat features (pockets, powder skirt, thumb holes in cuffs, under arm venting) that will be great when it gets really cold. The quality seems very good.

Love it! Love it! Love it!
The longer I have this coat, the more in love I am with it. It's warm, functional, and looks good to boot. It has all the bells and whistles I could wish for. I occasionally walk into the break room to find my coworkers cuddling with it, so I'm guessing it's not just me.
I went with a bigger size just to give me extra room for a thick sweater, but have worn it with just my work shirt underneath. Haven't gotten cold yet.
I honestly can't find anything wrong with it. Hands down one of the best purchases I've ever made.

Toasty Warm
Nice warm winter jacket. I liked that the hood zips on and off. Columbia spent a great deal of attention on the design of this coat. After I received it, I went out and tried on many other brands of comparable coats and nothing came close to quality, look, and feel. Very happy.

I LOVE my new jacket!
This is the best coat I have ever had. I just love it. I got the teal color and its so beautiful. I can't say anything bad about it so far so that must be a good sign. I looked at alot of other coats but the material didn't seem as durable as this one which was a big reason for picking this one.

Looks Cool!
I love the look of this jacket. I got the Dark turkquoise colour. I just wish it had more pockets on the inside. It has a goggle pocket and a mp3 player pocket, could have done with another one for money,cards etc, or cellphone. Could do with a ring or hook to hang my ski pass on. the zips need long tags so they can be opened/closed without taking your gloves off. These are simple things that I was supprised were missing, considering the price. It makes a great casual jacket as well but would be great if you could take off the powder skirt or at least button it out of the way when your not using it. Over all the jacket kept me wonderfuly toasty warm(the underarm vents were great) and is very stylish.(Very Important!) Would love a matching hat!

Zipper Issues and too cold
The zipper gets stuck (not necessarily jammed) on the zipper flap while zipping up the jacket.
Also, the first cold snap just hit and I was expecting to be very warm in this jacket, but I could feel the parts of the cold wind breezing through my jacket, especially through the sleeves.

ZIPPER PROBLEMS
I found the jacket of my dreams! It has everything I was looking for, except the zipper. Before I even took the tags off wearing it around the house the zipper broke. Looking at it more closely it's just too small of a zipper for all that bulk. Very disappointed, I was really looking forward to that jacket! Is very toasty!!!

Great Coat, Color Inacurrate
I found that this coat was quite a bit more green and more truly turquoise (and less dark turquoise) than shown in this picture which makes it look nearly blue. The coat also has kind of a glossy look to it that makes it seem more light in color than this picture. The coat itself fits great, warm, nice features, so I returned this one and exchanged it for the black one.
