Great Jacket for Someone with an Athletic Build This jacket fits me perfectly, but I can understand why others were unhappy with the fit. I have an athletic/muscular build with a 43" chest and 33" waist at 6' and 170 lbs. I have always had trouble finding shirts that fit properly. I wear a large, and even most so-called fitted shirts that fit around the shoulders and chest are still quite loose around the waist. I have to wear extra fitted to have a shirt that really looks good. This is possibly the best fitting jacket I've ever owned. It was a little tight in the chest and shoulders at first, but stretched after wearing twice. There isn't a whole bunch of loose material around the waist. In fact, I don't even have to tighten the drawcord! The fit not only looks good, but keeps me warmer because the wind doesn't go right up the bottom like with most other jackets. It's a sharp looking jacket too, but I didn't like the cords dangling from the underarm zippers, so I took them off. I think it gives the jacket a neater appearance. April 18, 2012
Great medium/light weight jacket The jacket is awesome, the new technology kept me warmer than I expected when I visited Portland this winter. The fit is the only problem. I tried on other Columbia jackets like this one, but without the reflective inside stuff, and the large fit me perfectly. Upon advice of Columbia employees I order the XL because they said the fit was very snug. The XL fits perfectly in the shoulders (which was my main concern), but be careful because the sleeves are now longer, and the room in the mid section is also bigger. I'm very happy with the jacket, just be aware about the sizing when you order. March 29, 2012
Key Three x 2 This soft shell is by far my favorite, probably the reason I have one in abyss and one in black. As many have mentioned the size does run a small and had to send my large back for an extra large. I tend to be somewhat lean so the XL is just about right. Some also mention the sleeves seem long and they are that also, but work well when wearing gloves; seems like most Columbia jacket's sleeves are a little long, but that is ok with me; better than too short. I live in Phoenix AZ, so the jacket works well for me, but would not recommend it in very cold climates unless you have a fleece under it. March 28, 2012
jacket due to the lack of time in which i have owned this shell i am unable to rate it any higher. quality of craftsmanship and the products claims of performance will take considerably longer to evaluate. but my current thoughts are extremely positive. i only hope that this light jacket can do all that is promised. and just as important, i hope it has longevity. the experience went very well, nice/helpful staff, and very quick shipping. thank you March 27, 2012
Great concept but poor execution I recently purchased this jacket in black, size Large. I am 5'10, 170lb and lift weights. In 99% of the jackets or shirts that I wear I am a large. In this jacket, the chest is too tight and the arm holes ride way too high under my arm pits. I was told by the sales clerk to purchase an extra large but this resulted in a chest and arms that fit; but, the stomach area was way too big and baggy. I am thinking that Columbia will eventually need to redesign this model. March 16, 2012
nice jacket tight around the chest. cant layer much. good quality jacket January 10, 2012
Bean pole people UNITE This jacket is exactly what I was looking for! Thin, light weight, wind proof, water resistant. However, it is built ONLY for one budy build.......a bean pole. I would have to go up 2 sizes for it to fit in the chest for it not to dig in to my arm pits and then it's too big every where else. Other than a different cut.....THIS JACKET ROX! December 17, 2011
Ok but too tight Seems like a good softshell. A little heavy and too tight near the waist. too long in the sleeves. Returned and planning on getting a softshell made for the backcountry. December 11, 2011
Great Jacket I have had this jacket now since the middle of September and have to say it is a great jacket. Others state that it fits tight but then again it is an active jacket. It has great range of motion since the arm pits are a bit higher so that way your not pulling or stretching the chest out to get caught on anything which is great. Others have also stated that it isn't that warm. I have been wearing it since September and just today put on my heavier coat (13 degrees Fahrenheit outside). When standing around the jacket isn't that warm. Your standing there not creating much radiant heat. Get moving and the Omni Heat will keep that radiant heat in. I am 5'7" and 200 lbs with a very stocky build and the XL fits perfect. Overall this is one of the greatest lightweight shells I have ever had. December 2, 2011
Too Cold/Tight Armpits This is a very slick-looking coat, and it's hard to find coats that fit my long arms as nicely as this one does. That said, I thought it would be much warmer, but I was freezing cold on a 40 degree evening. Also, the style of this jacket is very fitted, which is nice because it's not boxy like other jackets, but the armpits are very snug and it's obnoxious. If the armpits could be lowered an inch and a better insulator used (while still keeping the same jacket "weight"), I would buy two of these coats, so when the first wears out in 5 years I'll have a brand new one to start wearing. Jacket too tight This jacket would be awesome except for a few things. First it is way too tight like others have said before. It is a "fitted" jacket which means it nearly forms to your body unlike most jackets that are loose. It comes up way too much in the armpits. Even though it is a 4 way stretch it feels very tight and restricting. I did stil wear it for a little while and it wasn't nearly as warm as I had expected based on all of the perks listed. I think its important to say that normally I absolutely love Columbia products and feel I know much much more about their technology than the average joe (I sell their products in a sporting goods retail store). I am returning this. If you want something that is really warm and fits well buy their Men's Insulated Hart Mountain Full Zip Hoodie...Its amazing soft and is incrediblely warm! November 16, 2011
Just A Little Too Small I purchased a medium and a large to check the fit and return the one I did not need. I usually wear a medium but this model fits pretty tight around the chest. The tightness around the chest is due to the incorporation of the side vent zippers. The stretch fabric on the sides is nice but the inclusion of the zippers reduces the amount of stretch material in that area and the result is a tight fit up top. And of course the large is too large. I will be returning them and purchasing a different model. But all in all, if the jacket does fit you, it's a really nice jacket. I would definitely recommend it as long as it fits! I would have given it five stars if it fit. November 3, 2011
Really liked the picture Bought the large because it seemed to meet my size criteria, but was too tight in the arm pits and across the chest. Upsized to the XL, but was too long in the sleeves, too loose in the neck, AND still tight in the arm pits. October 28, 2011
Coloriffic Love the colors on this jacket, pretty true to the website image but even a bit brighter. Jacket is a bit snug in the upper chest and shoulder area. Sleeves are an 1-2" too long, everything else is phenomenal about it. October 17, 2011
Awesome Great jacket. The omniheat is great you can actual tell a difference. October 12, 2011
Tree Season Jacket Good coat for the miserable weather we can sometimes get on Cape Cod. The staff was very helpful with this choice.(I'm 6', 170lb.) September 4, 2011
