Men’s American Angler™ Bib 4.7 5 11 11
Close but not close enough. I finally able to put these bibs to a test after owning them for 6 months. I bought them basically for fishing from my kayak and in many occasions water did penetrate the fabric. Last weekend we had some rain storms with wind blowing at 25-30mph, heavy rain and 35-40 degree Fahrenheit. I was shore fishing for trouts from 7.30am to 11.45am with the wind and rain hitting mostly on my back. The bibs only kept me dry for the first 1.5 hours after that the jeans I wore inside the bibs were soaking wet and heavy. I had on a Columbia Omni Tech Jacket with the new Thermal tech which helped to keep me warm and DRY that day. The chest part of the bibs which was inside the jacket was perfectly dry but the legs were soaked. I only washed the bibs twice since owning them and hang them to dry, so i wouldn't think that i had destroyed the material since I was dry in the first 1.5 hours in the rain. My suggestion is for anyone who is thinking about buying these bibs and to use them beyond walking the dog or fishing in light shower to go with another Columbia model or go with Gore-Tex. My family used all kinds Columbia products and accessories, but these bibs had failed me. I would recommend others products but not this one. I read the reviews before I buy anything; and I read those reviews below as well. And here is my review to help fellow Columbians. March 21, 2012
Great in the rain I was glad I brought my Columbia American Angler rain jacket on a recent walleye fishing trip on Lake Erie. A heavy rain storm came in on us fast. I put my Columbia rain gear on and kept fishing. The rest of my fishing partners did not have rain gear, so they quit fishing to hide under a plastic tarp that was on the boat. Needless to say I caught my limit and stayed dry. Thanks to my Columbia rain gear. March 21, 2012
Mostly Good Love the quality and function. Only draw back for me is the legs are a little short. I am 5 foot 11 inches and they are little short to conver pant legs. Need tall sizes for this style of bibs. February 25, 2012
Fishing Guide The bibs keeps you cool and dry at the sane time. They are great for winter or summer. February 25, 2012
Best Rain suit I've ever owned I fish about 100 days a year out of Old Hickory, Tennessee ... Old Hickory Lake, Kentucky Lake, Lake Guntersville ect. It rains 45 inches a year here, so needless to say I have put this product to the test. Whether I'm standing in my boat fishing in the rain or driving 60 mph up and down the lake in the rain, I STAY DRY. Fits great, lightweight, doesn't hamper any of my movements when fishing. Greatest Bibs ever I wear these Bibs everyday on my Charter Boat that's over 200 days a year. The fix is the best of any Bibs I have ever used August 22, 2010
great bibs I often fish the south coast with moderate temperatures with heavy rain. This product is perfect for the south coast with inches of rain without being to hot so as to cause sweating. Very comfortable jacket and bibs. February 3, 2010
Awesome On The Water Protection! Pair these bibs with the American Angler Jacket and you've got the perfect set of lightweight, breathable and sturdy armor to fight off the rain, the wind and anything else Mother Nature wants to throw at you. Great Gear for a very good price! January 2, 2010
More than just fishing I purchased a set of the bibs in Sage while in Northern Mn, Grouse hunting. It had been raining for 4 days straight. I used these and to my surprise stayed dry as bone, but most important, after hard hunting in the brambles, not a mark or scratch. October 26, 2009
If you're on the water, you'll love these bibs Spending a lot of time on and in the water, these are great bibs! Roomy to fit over other clothing, two front hand-warmer pockets, great fabric. October 7, 2009
