What has happened to quality products from Columbia My "old" Bugaboots had given out and without question, purchased another pair. I have always had confidence that Columbia provided quality products and thought the "new" Bugaboot would match the comfort and quality of the former pair. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The new boot does not have the same type of lining and is not as soft and comfortable as the old pair. The laces do not fit in the eyelets as did the old style and are harder to get on and off. Did they improve their product - not in my opinion. April 17, 2013
a replacement I had bought a pair of boots a few years ago, and this winter, they had the misfortune of coming apart where the leather and bottom come together. I contacted Columbia and they were very nice, and wanted me to send them pictures of the defective boots. When they received the photos they in turn sent me a new pair of boots. I would definately recommend buying Columbia's products and they do stand behind their products. March 21, 2013

The adventures of ColumbiaMan! I have been introduced to your products since I was in High school many decades ago. Knew about your interchange coats and then stumbled upon your boots shortly thereafter. I had the Titanium boots a few years back, wore them to the ground and these are the replacements. Probably will replace these after they hit the ground as well in a few years too. Got all of my children and a few cousins the coats + boots as well. Now looking into the gloves and winter pants. Excellent products. There is NOTHING better on the [planet] market. 100 out of a possible 100. The only downside was that there wasn't a 13 in the black color. I'll try later for it though. Don't Pass These Up! These boots are fantastic, I wait for cold days just so I can throw them on. Here in Texas I only need a pair of liners and my feet are almost too warm. Wore them deer hunting last season and they performed beautifully. I pulled mesquite thorns out of them all day and tracked down multiple animals with no hot spots at the end of the day. I didn't even have to break these in. Only a 4/5 for function because of the fact that they almost insulate too well. January 27, 2013
Very Warm if you keep moving The boots fit very well. I have very high arches so I took out the supplied insole ( like I do with all my footwear) and put in my own insoles and they were comfortable.I was expecting my feet to be toasty warm all the time and during my first campout ( avg. temp about 20 degrees, about 10 in the morning) I was cold. I did finally realize (duh) that in order for the boots to "reflect" heat, I had to generate heat, so that meant moving around quite a a bit. So walking and hiking, about and you'll be warm. Standing in one place and not moving around a lot, (such as standing at my saw table and making trim cuts for the guys up on ladders), not so much.I did put chemical foot warmers in when I was camping and that did keep my feet warm. Great Foot Gear! I moved to Ohio from North Carolina, and I had a big culture shock when it comes to the weather! I purchased these shoes on the advice from a friend when I was looking for winter gear . These are great shoes that keep your feet warm, whether you wear them with socks or not. Because I have some issues with my feet, I bought the men's version of this shoe. The wear is great and comfortable and worth the price. Love Them!! Best true to size, Light-weight and most comfortable winter/water/snow-boots I have ever bought. This is my first Columbia purchase and I have had quite a bit of trouble with my small foot size and having a wide foot so other similar brands like North Face would crush my feet and are not available in Wide withs. While the website doesn't show or offer the boot in a wide with, wide-with's are available in retail outlets and through Zappos, but I ordered the standard 7.5 mens right from the website and they fit like a charm - the color combo is phenomenal, and the grip of the soles on snow/ice is unbelievable. Very warm and very comfortable, yet still plenty of room for wool socks too. I am now a true Columbia fan and will be back again!!!! January 17, 2013

Hot feet! These are a steal. They are supportive to the foot & ankle. I had to move the battery around on one boot as it pinched. They are very warm without the heat as they have Omni Heat technology. The first time out I walked in them for 5 hours hunting upland. They needed no break in for my feet. I have had them on now for 5 upland hunts & 3 water fowl hunts. All were cold weather. I would not hesitate to rely on them in Alaska & I lived there 3 years. Be sure to depress the switch until they light up then turn them off the same way. They are fully warm in a blind where you sit or lay out for 7 hours in cold weather. They shed wet snow & wet grass absorption of water. They are not made for wading past the ankle because of the electronics. In truly Arctic conditions that would not be an issue at all. Worn 7 days a week Overall great boots. They do require a few days of break-in before feeling comfortable. With a pair of wool socks these boots stay warm for prolonged periods outside down to about neg 25F. Good traction on ice. January 7, 2013

just got them yesterday... i'm triing out my new boots today and will refresh my review . They feel a bit "stiff" but that 's normal. I wear 10 feels loose i was told by the sale's lady to buy inner soles i'll see ... I sprayed them with 2 generous coats of "pro-tex all wheather" on the upper section just to be on the safe side for water proofing. December 30, 2012

Almost 5 stars until... I have years of experience with different types of boots designed for rugged terrain and different applications. It is my opinion that the Bugaboot cannot decide if it wants to be a beefed up sneaker or a watered down hiking boot. At best it is a hybrid "boot" intended for light duty and day hikes along a well traveled trail in temperatures ranging from 25 F to 50 F.Here are the CONS of the Bugaboot: The water proofing is reserved for the bottom few inches only; any water that passes the first eyelets leaks in and the faberic will act like a sponge. The sole is not as stiff as the more rugged hiking boots I've worn. There are definate pressure points while walking on rocks and bolders. The Bugaboot kept my feet warm while I was walking but did a poor job of that when I stood for prolonged periods of time in 30 degree weather. The laces that shipped with the boot were very slippery at first and couldn't hold still in the eyelet when lacing.The PROS of the Bugaboot: Impressive traction on leafy terrain, on muddy/marshy fields, and while ascending and decending inclines where there were no trails. Impressive ankle support. The boot is lightweight and is warm if actively moving. The orange blaze made for an added bonus while hunting. Comfortable enough to wear when I wanted to.The WORST part of the Bugaboot that I bought: The 3rd inside eyelet popped out this evening when I was lacing up to walk in the yard. I've only laced these boots nine times since they were bought last month. Customer Support...here I come! December 2, 2012
Very good product I thought that the shoes would be very heavy for walking. At the beginning, the shoes are a little heavy for me, because I wear running shoes a lot. But when you walk in the snow with this shoes, you definitely feel comfortable and warm. One negative review said that the shoes cannot avoid snow get into the shoes. If you walk in a snow higher than your shoes, no shoes can avoid the snow. I wear snow pants and this pair of shoes, never have this kind of problem. November 30, 2012
this boot is a good, lightweight boot This boot is a nice, lightweight boot and is comfortable. However, I did wear it during a very cold night at a football game and my feet did get a bit cold....I wore two pairs of socks and they may have been too tight to circulate the warmth within the book, so, the jury is still out on the warmth factor..but I like the looks and feel of the boot so far. My Bugaboot Experience Got my new boots just in time for the beginning of the Oregon rains. Best boots I have ever had, especially for the price. I am outdoors a lot and have had other popular brands, but none have preformed like these. Not only do they look good on, but I am confident when I wear them that I will be dry, warm, and comfortable for the entire day. I do have weak ankles and as an added plus these boots have great arch and ankle support as well as outstanding safe traction. October 24, 2012
Deep Cold Only The side of the boot says, in large lettering, "waterproof".I learned the hard way that this is misleading. Sure, the bottom part of the boot is waterproof, but so what? The tongue is like a sponge, rendering this boot risky at best in any early spring or late fall weather.I got these around January last year. All went well until I broke through an ice sublayer and into a 5-inch-deep puddle of slushy water underneath. It's not as though a bit of water seeped in. The bottom of the boot filled like a bucket. I had to high tail it home as the water so throughly soaked my right foot that it travelled up my sock and as far as mid-calf of my jeans. This wasn't a huge excursion or anything, but I can only imagine the trouble if this had happened in the middle of the woods.Today I treated my usual calf-high leather boots with mink oil and so had to let them dry. I wore the Bugaboot out in mild fall weather for a walk through a field of dewy wild grass. To my renewed amazement, the Bugaboot could not even cope with dewy grass. Again water soaked through the tongues and my socks within 15 minutes.I am pretty angry at Columbia for putting such an inferior product on the market to save the cost of a $2 flap of gore-tex over the tongue of the boot. These boots are worthless unless it is -10 and snowy. September 21, 2012

Great Boots Just got back from Ukraine. -8 degrees F. Totally comfortable with wool socks. My feet were always warm and they are easy to walk on uneven ice covered surfaces also. February 15, 2012
Good boot but little stiff at first I really like the boot but as others have mentioned, they're a bit stiff at first. Almost feel like a ski boot. But they do loosen up after a week or so. They keep my feet super warm and they're a lot quicker to put on and take off than other boots I've worn. Really love 'em! January 31, 2012
Excellent Warm Boots! First of all, I am surprised how warm the boots are. I walked around below freezing temperature and my feet stayed toasty.Second, for the kind of warm that I received in the boots, I would expect heavier boots (these boots are much lighter than the warm boots I have owned in the past).Now let me be very honest. Awesome I haven’t had many chances to ware my new boots, Michigan has been unseasonably warm so far this winter season, but in the times I have been able to ware them, they are awesome; warm, comfortable and dry. My first pair were men’s so this new pair are men’s too. I think the men’s are built tougher so last longer, are roomier, and closer to the right size. OK but a few internal pressure points- warmth to be tested OK I have big weird feet.Definitely recommend getting a size larger than normal.Haven't given it a the extended cold test (and these boots a large or clunky enough to do just that) with the 200gm and omni heat foil so we'll see.But like most folks say go a size bigger.I think the pressure point are going to smooth out with time as there is good padding.Because of price I went hi-top when I think I'd have preferred low cut.Definitely if they hold up waterproof as needed.If they work out nice I might get low top w/o foil for non snow.Not the most comfortable yet but seems like a fine deep snow boot.If you've got it to spend the elctric ones must be cooler or warm that is. very nice Bought these for my 17yr old nephew. I was really worried about the size because he is a 7 sometimes a 71/2. I went with the 71/2 and he said they fit perfect. Excellent boot! This boot is very sturdy and well made. I use this boot for shoveling my drive way and these work great. I get excellent traction, my socks stay dry and my feet keep nice and warm. Walking around with the boot on is also comfortable. This boot is a must buy. January 3, 2012

Great for the mountain snow here in Colorado It is a warm, sturdy boot that protects from the damp as well as the dry snow. It is extremely well made. My only objection is the size. I ordered an 11 1/2 boot and it is larger than a 12 boot from another manufacturer. It's also quite wide. I added a double shoe pad and wear it with heavy socks. I suggest that it should be ordered 1/2 size smaller than usual. It would probably not work as a hiking boot. December 22, 2011
