great jacket but.....
this jacket is a fine jacket. all the things I have read about in the reviews are true. comfie jacket except for one thing.... THE SLEEVES . they grab just about all types of long sleeve shirts, and makes it hard to put on and take off the jacket. this jacket NEEDS a lining in the sleeves, to make it easier to put on and take off. otherwise its a great jacket.

Warm and versatile
Great for everyday. I work for an outdoor education agency, but must dress up a little at the office. This fleece fits in well whether you are wearing dress casual, jeans or cargo pants. The omni-heat really works, and the wind-stop liner does it's job out here on the plains where the wind really howls in the winter.
The omni-heat grabs onto softer materials when putting the jacket on, so be prepared for your sweater or baselayer to bunch up in the arms.

Excellent Thermal Jacket
Really does the job - excellent stylist yet functional product!

As expected - perfect
Living in the Chicago suburbs, where cold is cold (except this year) and I feel it. Wanted a jacket that would go over a teeshirt when walking the dog, or smart enough going anywhere, without looking and feeling like the Michelin man!
Perfect fit, I bought the L and am 5'10, take a 161/2, 34-35 shirt. Snug, not tight - and you won't need layers with this item. Really glad I didn't buy the 'Lite' version that is in the stores because the underarm zips in this model are a terrific benefit for 'overheating'.
No wind makes it through this jacket. Now, if I could find some gloves........

Lightweight!!!!
Its so nice to wear something so lightweight but keeps in your heat. Feels like I'm wearing a light jacket in the dead of winter. It will be nice in the coming years because part of my job is working outside when it is cold.

Fleece Jacket
Great jacket. It's really warm. I have to make sure I'm ready to walk out the door before putting it on or I get hot really fast. Would have been 5 stars if not for the weird pockets. They're fine just a little weird because they zip from the top and the zipper starts at chest level. Great overall!

Jacket Arm Holes Were Too Small
I bought this in XL for my husband, who can wear a large, but likes XL for jackets to give him room to layer underneath. This XL was too small and too tight in the arm holes, even while wearing just a thin long-sleeve t-shirt. There was no way he could have layered underneath for cold weather. It's a shame, because we loved the jacket, and my husband said the omni-heat lining was fantastic.
On the bright side, Columbia's customer service was great. We sent the package back (at our cost for shipping), and they took it back without question.

Light, Warm & Stylish
As unbelievably warm as it is light. Looks great, fits well--no constriction of movement. Huge pockets (four total). If I was forced to say something negative the collars occasionally poke your chin if it's zipped up to the wrong place.
Great commuter and 'round the town coat. With a fleece underneath it I was plenty warm in 15 degree temperatures with wind.

More than I Expected
This jacket does keep one warm, almost to warm while hiking in mid 30's degree temperatures. I was only able to last one hour with the until I had to take it off to let my body cool down. I purchased this jacket to replace my columbia fleece liner, but have found that this one will not compress down in size when packing into my backpack. I definitely will not be apcking this jack with me on any long backpacks. I have not yet tried the jacket in wet weather but will have an opportunity this weekend. I wish that the collor was a little taller and that the ties on the zipper were better connected, I have already lost two of the ties on the under arm zipper, they just fell off. I will have to replace them and tie them on better.
I will definitely reccomend this jacket to someone who needs an everyday warm comfortable jacket.

VERY WARM
I bought this jacket because it was light weight. I can not wear a winter coat because of the weight pressure on my neck. I could not ask for a better coat! I am never cold and sometime forget to take it off when im inside. Some of the other reviews make comments about the large pockets. These are great and your hands fit even if you have bulky gloves on. Best money ever spent! I would not trade this coat for the world!!!! Oh and I never get wet!!
Make sure you check the size. I ordered a small and the reciept and tag all said small but the coat was a med. Glad I kept it. If you have boobs you need a med.

Great for the minnesota cold
Got this fleece for a lightweight jacket to wear in the winter. Fit is great and it's not to tight in the armpits as some have said. I've worn it in 15 degree weather and it keeps me plenty warm compared to my other winter coats. The Micro-chamois chin guard feels soft against my face when I have it zipped up all the way. My only grip is that the description says its wind proof, that's half true. the fleece part of the jacket lets the cold wind through, I felt it on the back of my arms when the wind hits my back. That seems to be the only place that the wind got through, and no the arm vents were not open.
Overall its a great winter fleece that holds its own against the cold weather in minnesota.

Tight fit
Very nice quality. But I am a bigger guy that wears 2x for all my clothing and jackets. This coat did not fit in the 2x size. The sleeves are short and tight in the belly. I returned it and bought the Wildcard IV, which fit perfectly in the 2x size.
If you wear athletic cuts, this is probably the coat for you.

WINTER IN OHIO
We live in northeastern Ohio where winters can be rather interesting. I have worn this coat out in 15 degree temperatures with just a sweatshirt and performed quite well.
I was out in December with 30mph winds and 30 degree temperatures with just a polo shirt with no problems at all.
Don't let the lightweight fool you, this coat works as well as my army surpus lined BDU without the bulk. I liked it so well I ordered one for my daughter who works with me.
Excellant concept,expertly executed,nice job Columbia.

Great jacket
I love this jacket! It looks great, its super warm even in teen and 20's temps with wind. One suggestion is I found I needed one size larger than I would normally take. It ran a bit tight in the shoulders and upper arms in my normal size. Going up one size fit perfect without any extra bulk.

Handsome, good-fitting, warm jacket...
...that's about it. I'm pleased.
I do think the pocket placement could be improved, and that the fleece portion of the jacket would be even better if it were jet black rather than deep charcoal grey/black, but these are quibbles.

Great jacket
It's got the weight and feel of a heavy fleece, but I've worn it in down to 14°F weather (coldest it's gotten so far) and had no problems staying warm. Very happy with it.

This is the best fleece jacket I've ever owned
Its a nice light fleece. I put this jacket on and I can feel it reflect my body heat. Snow melts on it but drips right off and keeps me nice and dry. I'm very happy with this!

Just what I needed
This jacket was exactly what I was looking for. As a college student who walks back and forth to class several times a day, 5 days a week, it works perfectly. It keeps me nice and warm, shields me from the wind, and keeps me dry in the rain and snow. It fits well, and is very comfortable to wear for short or long periods of time. I would highly recommend this jacket to anyone looking for something lightweight to keep you warm and dry without being bulky, rigid, uncomfortable, or un-stylish.

Heat Elite II
The Heat Elite II jacket has been a great addition to my cold weather arsenal. The beauty of this product is the combination of the Omni-Heat technology with the comfort and versatility of a fleece. I have worn this jacket in conditions with a 25 degree wind chill and have experienced minimal body heat loss. The design offers no restriction of movement and no added bulk common with most cold weather jackets. I have been very pleased and highly recommend this product.

Very warm
I bought this jacket to be my winter jacket and its so warm that it should do just fine. It is very warm even though I have yet to wear it in really cold weather. I wouldn't hesitate to give this 5 stars but it needs one thing, two zippers on the pockets because the pockets are so big. That's my only beef with the jacket but it is still great jacket

Great purchase!
Use this at work in South Carolina. Have had some 30 degree mornings so far and it's kept me plenty warm. It's very comfortable and stylish as well.

Fleece's dont get much better then this
Working at an outdoor adventure center, I know a bit about coats. That being said, this is a top notch fleece that delivers exceptional warmth. If you want a warm coat without the bulk, this is it. I would compare this jacket to the Patagonia r4 except this is even warmer, and at a better price. Columbia tends to run a little bit big on many of its products, but this coat fits very true to size. I thought the pit zips were great as when your indoors your going to overheat in this thing. Columbia has done a great job reinventing itself as cutting edge, innovating company. Omni heat space blanet lining is very warm as well as comfortable. If your looking for a midlayer, this would almost be a little to much because it provides so much warmth. But if your looking for a fall-winter-spring coat this is the one you should look at. Absolutly great jacket

Good Fit
So far so good. I haven't had a cold day yet to evaluate it's warmth capablities. The fit is very good. The only thing change would to the have the hand pockets open from the bottom or have 2 zippers. I'm glad I purchased this jacket.

Beast of a Jacket
If you're questioning whether the Omni-Heat technology works, it does maybe a little to well for everyday Colorado winter days. Fit is tight in the pits and the pit zips need to be 2" longer in both directions to really vent this heat machine. If you tend to feel cold this jacket will keep you toasty for sure. The lite version is missing pit zips which would've make it the better option for milder winter climates. With this lining you want to be able to open it up to vent while maintaining wind protection. If you're big chested you may want to go up a size.

Nice warm jacket, works perfect under rain shell
Fits well, pockets are a little awkward, No inner pocket.
Very soft and comfortable. I have not been able to wear it when it was cold, as a matter of fact, I had to shed it on my kayak trip because it was too warm, but it was over 70 degrees that day. Makes a good pillow when camping.
