Men’s Lhotse Mountain™ II Interchange Jacket 4.5 5 24 24
The Best I have Found. I wear a large everything, but Columbia is tricky... This combo has been the best one to satisfy what I've been looking for. I have worn the liner more than the combo and would have paid the same price just for it. The rest of the interchange is just icing on the cake. April 14, 2013
Small across the back/shoulders The jacket was everything I was looking for with the technologies Omni-heat, Omni-shield. The jacket is very warm. I get cold easy and wanted a heavier jacket. While shoveling snow, I had to zip it open a little and a little more and finally had it fully unzipped--it is awesome. I even fully opened the armpit vents. The pockets are roomy and I like the idea of the interchange (a specific feature for me). I went to a sporting goods store (when first shopping for a Columbia coat) to try the various sizes and the XL was too big, so I decided to buy the L. The large was sized better for me in all respects--I had tried on the Whirlibird II. I had been looking at the Whirlibird II initially but I didn't like the styling--the only color left was bright red. I went home and bought online and when comparing features and the technologies, I bought the Lhotse. The only problem for me is that the jacket is too tight across the back and shoulders when I bring my arms forward and across the chest. If memory serves well I wear a 42R suit coat. I don't have a big chest but my shoulders are broad. The bind in the back/shoulders is not much but I can feel it restrict my movement a little. Unfortunately they did not have the Lhotse in stock at the sporting goods store (end of season). I don't know if I would have noticed a difference in the store because I figured the large of most any jacket would be a similar fit in other models (as also indicated by the sizing chart on Columbia's website)--I fit the Large category. Otherwise, the jacket is outstanding; the features, pockets, and construction sold me on this model. I did a side by side comparison of several of their insulated and interchange jackets. This one had all the features I was looking for and basically had all the features of the other jackets. April 1, 2013
Best Product EVER Loved this jacket so much, I bought one for a friend, and I have two, a regular fitting coat that fits me perfect and the longer style which is more like a parka, it's great for those cold windy day. I have several friends that I have convinced to spend the money and they won't use any other coat, great for cold, warm, wet (snow or rain), windy days... Buy it, maybe go a size bigger for when you bundle up, but no more than that. You'll love it. March 18, 2013
Super lightweight and warm! Nice lightweight jacket that is super warm. Great for playing outdoors. February 4, 2013
Fantastic Coat This is by far one of the best coats I ever purchased. With the Omni Heat feature I have been just wearing the inner coat. With both layers on it is very warm and dry. This is a Fantastic Coat February 1, 2013
Great product Great product. I live in Portland, OR which has its share of wet and cold. It is truly water proof and warm. I've worn it in 20 to 45 degrees and it was comfortable in all temperatures. The inner jacket is warm and comfortable too. My only complaint is that the sizing is way off. I wear everything in XL and I had to return this jacket for a XXL January 28, 2013
Wicked warm This is used snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and icefishing. Very good product keeps you warm on sub zero days. January 24, 2013
Core Protector I wore these on a hike during on one of the rare cold days in SOCal and my goodness were my legs freezing!!! But my core was extremely warm. I can't wait to get on the mountain and to see how these will fare. I have no doubt they'll exceed my expectations...I'll let you know soon! January 14, 2013
So far so good So far I have had this jacket for several weeks and tested it a few times in near or just below freezing temps. (37F - 28F) each and every time I was able to wear this jacket over my t-shirt and be warm as long as the waistband straps were tightened.Pros:-Warm as advertised-Interchange system compatible-Black color is conservative enough to wear in high-profile business environment-Rain beads up and falls off. I can “wet dog” shake before entering a building and shed all of the wetness!-Great quality but this is a Columbia standard-Can layer under jacket without adding too much to the bulk – I used a Fast Trek II fleece under my coat without any problems.Cons:-Liner “heat reflecting dots” are distractingly flashy and unattractive when unzipped January 12, 2013
what's not to love this product keeps me very warm on the coldest of days, even when wearing just a t shirt underneath. the pockets are of ample size. the hood fits great. theonly thing i'm sad about is no rain for three months, i really want ttest out the shell! January 6, 2013
Great Winter Jacket Recipient loved this coat. The quality materials and design make it a jacket you will keep for many, many years. January 3, 2013
Great Fit! Perfect fit for average male. So warm, never got a chill skiing with this jacket and plenty of pockets to hold all the extras. January 2, 2013
Exchanged We exchanged this jacket for a different Columbia jacket also featuring omni-heat. The front pockets are too high and not where your hands would go in naturally. Also, didn't love the "mystery" color. It looked more gray on our computer screen. My husband loves the Columbia jacket we exchanged it for. Very warm in cold blowing snow. December 27, 2012
Great jacket handicapped by horrid hood I had a Columbia Titanium jacket that I used for snowshoeing, hiking, general outdoor sports, and walking the dog in varieties of miserable weather. After eight years, it was time to retire it.I got the Lhotse Mountain II Interchange and have put it to good use in cold weather. The reflective insulation, which I thought would be just a marketing gimmick, turns out to work excellently. It really does add warmth. The jacket keeps me really warm.I only have two complaints. The first is the hood is terrible. The brim is too short. You can forget getting any snow or rain blocked. Even more aggravating are the flaps. On my Titantium the flaps were high enough to cover me face from the tip of my nose to my chin. The Lhotse's hood flaps leave my entire lower face uncovered. Between a short brim and poor flaps, the hood really doesn't work, especially on a windy day.The second irksome detail is the zipper. This is a conventional one-way zipper. The jacket really needs two zipper pulls so you can open the bottom half of the jacket for ventilation while keeping the upper zipped closed. The zipper I could live with, the hood though is abysmal. The hood's shortcomings make what would otherwise be an excellent piece of outdoor gear into a marginal jacket, especially for the money. December 23, 2012
Spend the money Haven't had it in truly cold temps yet - just a little below freezing - but it's easy to tell that with proper layering this jacket is good for below zero. Can't even zip it above 40 degrees. Absolutely waterproof; I found that out the hard way. Pockets are higher than I'm used to, but still low enough for my hands, softly lined, and large enough to swallow an 800-page, 5"x8" paperback I carried on the train the other day, or a pair of winter gloves. Fit is spot-on for me.Only complaint, and a minor one, is that both outer and inner breast pockets are in the same location, so to use both is like putting it all in one pocket.I love the jacket. If this is your price range, this is your product. Buy this jacket. December 22, 2012
Great Jacket I've bought plenty of Columbia jackets before, but this one is the best ever. It has a nice snug insulating feel to it, especially around the arms & wrists. It keeps me warm even on super cold days, but it's not bulky even with all the layers. I can still add a fleece underneath if I want, no problem. Other coats I own are XL because I'm tall with long arms, but this jacket fits perfect in a Large. December 18, 2012
Good System, Good Protection, Weak Finishing This is a good jacket system that I regularly wear in 10-20 degree weather for 60-90 minute outdoor stints. It keeps me warm and the outer shell does a nice job shedding rain, sleet and snow. The pit zips and pockets are well positioned and the taped seam on the front pocket is a nice touch. The inner coat fits pretty tight and restricts overall movement when worn together as one unit. My only real complaint is the poor quality of the zippers. The pulls are incredibly thin and poised to break, the zippers are fine-toothed making them less than reliable and the outer coat should have had all its pockets taped/sealed. The tight inner fit can be a little annoying but probably cuts down on the bulk. Definitely good for cold weather sports, walks and daily wear. December 16, 2012
Not that good The coat is OK, but I was disappointed in the hood. It's unlined and very thin. Also, I paid $250 for the coat and found it to be a lesser coat than lower priced alternatives. I found a similar coat for $189 that I am much happier with. December 10, 2012
Not made for colder than 35 degrees. I replaced an older Columbia jacket, which was great, with this one.I am disappointed. It hasn't been very cold here yet, the coldest so far in the 20's.The jacket doesn't keep me warm when its below 35 degrees.I really like the outer shell but the inner jacket is much too thin. December 8, 2012
Great purchase I bought myself this Jacket for my birthday as something that I could maybe have around for snowstorm driveway clean up and walking the dog. Let me tell you I will be using it for more than just that. This jacket came with all the extras that my previous $450.00 Northface jacket had (e.g. Snowskirt, armpit vents, etc.) and it seems warmer, better looking and even the lining is warm, comfortable, and good looking. Men’s Lhotse Mountain II Interchange Jacket These jackets were purchased for use by an EMS agency in NJ where the weather can vary drastically. Rather than going with the typical suppliers emergency agencies use we decided to go with Columbia and could not be more pleased. The versatility of the jackets allowed us to in essence purchase 3 jackets for the price of one. The jacket fits well as bulky clothing would interfere with our job and they keep us warm and/or dry depending on our needs that day. We were even able to embroider and label the jackets with no problems. Not a single member has a complaint except for those who did not receive them, but they will in the next order we were so pleased with them. Highly recommended to all. November 16, 2012
Great multi-purpose jacket I purchased this jacket so I could have one jacket when traveling that can keep me warm in really cold weather and I can also use the inner jacket on cool days. It's comfortable and I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to others. Store employees were great when I had to exchange the jacket for a larger size. November 8, 2012
real world use I bought one of these prior to going to Afghanistan in 2011-2012 as a contractor. I am glad I did. Used as a work coat on the aircraft flight line and even washed aircraft in it at next to freezing temperatures while using matching gloves. Only problem I had with it the entire time was the front pocket zipper broke. Only wish I had a set of pants that matched the warmth and waterproofing. October 19, 2012
:-) Your coats are too thin. I would like them to be thicker. September 16, 2012
