Alaska tough and stylish
Great look, great fit. Very warm with the liner, and the shell is extremely wind-resistant. I always prefer a double zipper, and both the shell and the liner could benefit from one on this - especially for the larger sizes. I would prefer a couple more inches on the length - especially when riding the snowmachines in Alaska. I love the external left breast pocket and the mid-torso height pockets on the shell. The mesh on the inside of the shell is great for stuffing extra gear inside. The only thing I would change is heavier gauge zippers with larger tabs so you can grab them with gloves on.

Great jacket for layering to fit conditions
I normally wear 2xl shirsts and 2xl fleeces at 6'2 250 lbs. I read reviews and have an older Columbia 3xl jacket, so ordered 4xl to be safe. It is a perfect fit with the liner in and very warm. Haven't been below 32 so will wait an see. The liner jacket cover material looks good but is parachut thin so I would suspect it' would get snagged and not be durable alone. The cuffs on the sleeves allow the inner silver OMNI HEAT material to roll outside.
Needs a better method for inner attaching .
Good coat overall.

Fits one size too small--suprising insubstantial construction
I live in a temperate clime, but a recent job change meant I needed a winter jacket. First, I bought a Whirlibird 3X. It was too small and the construction of the liner and outershell interface was flimsy. Returned it. Bought a Bugaboo 3X. Should have known. It was too small, but I was stuck and needed a jacket for a trip to Chicago and then New England. I could squeeze into the jacket, but it was uncomfortable. Plus, wearing the jacket so tightly around me meant the loft between layers that helps keep the wearer warm wasn't there. It was cold.
Finally, I gave in, spent another $230 for the Lhotse in a 4X. It fits nicely and is super warm. The liner is sufficient itself in many situations. The sleeve interface is still weak, but that's a small complaint. The only problem is that at 4X, the nylon shell, normally a useful garmet itself, is way too big.
Columbia--if you are going to serve the Big and Tall market--and please do--you need to involve some of us sedentary, non-adventurous users. I'm not climbing a mountain--I'm climbing the corporate ladder.

good coat for the $$
I purchased this coat to replace an old Spyder coat that had lost it waterproofing. Finding a decent coat to fit a Big guy is very difficult these days as an XXl is not what an XXL was 5 years ago. IUsed this for 8 days skiing in Utah at the end of January. It was warm and overall very good, waterproofing and wind resistance was very good.. My only comments for improvement would be to add a couple more pockets, add more pull tabs on the zippers, and maybe upgrade the main zipper so it could open from the bottom or top. I would buy this again, and would be willing to spend another $75 to get the additional features. I also purchased their best 3x snowpants. They are excellent overall.

Surprisingly warm for the weight
This jacket has a lot more loft to it than the older Columbia jackets that had a fleece lining. It is also lighter and warmer. The cut is very different also. It runs a whole size smaller than the older Columbia jackets. I was replacing a 3x from Columbia but reading the other comments here, I bought a 4x and the 4x fits perfectly. Actually, it fits better than the 3x. The 3x was a little large on me but the 4x Lhotse fits almost perfectly. It is a little snug through the biceps but everything else is fine for someone who is normally a 3x. I marked down a little on the functionality because it comes with a medium weight zipper with only one pull. For this kind of money, this jacket should come with a heavy duty double pull zipper.

Very warm and versatile
Love this product! With the removable liner, this jacket can serve as a shell, an insulated jacket, or go full bore with both together as a nice parka.
The deep pockets are nice, as are the ventilation ports that you can open to help if you start getting too warm.
I often use the shell alone as a cool/wet-weather jacket, or toss it over a base/mid layer combination for when it's cold, but not frigid. The insulating layer with the Omni-Heat is very warm and comfortable.

Good parka
Size is way off order big and the zippers could be more glove friendly. The large front pockets are great and the multi-jacket funtion is easy to go to and from. Over all I like the parka I have an older jacket (6years) from columbia that has been beaten and abused and still works and looks good I believe I chose a good replacment. The older one will go in my work vehicle for those I brought the wrong jacket to work days.

Awesome jacket, sizes WAY off.
I'm a big guy...I normally wear a 3X jacket. So I ordered this jacket in a 3X to replace my old winter jacket. Not even close size-wize...way too small. Ok, that's the risk in ordering clothing on-line...so I order a 4X and pay extra to get it here for Christmas. STILL too small....now I have to send them BOTH back and order a 5X. On the other hand, I may just pass....I've never worn anything larger than a 3X in my life...so the idea of wearing a 5X anything may just be annoying enough to make me find another jacket. Too bad...it's a killer jacket. Come on Columbia - get real on your sizing.

Very nice
This parka was a gift for my son and he will use it for skiing on a family vacation in Steamboat. We thought it looked very nice on him and fit him well! He was thrilled. I cannot say that it kept him warm or anything like that since he hasn't used it yet.

First Columbia Jacket - Impressive
Received this as a Christmas gift. This is the first Columbia jacket I have owned. The size is a bit small, I wear a 4x and the 4x fits snug without the inner lining. I live in Sacramento where the weather normally doesn't get below 40 degrees. Just happened the week I received this jacket the morning temps were in 20's. This jacket is excellent for the cold temperatures. I was very comfortable without wearing the inner lining. The jacket has zip vents under the arms where you can vent out any perspiration/excess heat. I walked over a mile in this jacket and was comfortable the entire walk. Normally I perspire and have to unzip about half way. This jacket is perfect for those who are looking for a warm jacket that breathes. I don't anticipate using the innner liner, but it appears to be very insulated for those living in more severe conditions. The outer shell looks to be waterproof also. When it does rain here, I will use this as a rainjacket. Very impressed with my first Columbia jacket. The only concern is the tight fit. For those who have fit issues, I suggest one size larger to account for the inner liner.

Lhotse Parka- Really Warm but needs a few tweaks
Size runs a bit small had to return for larger size. The jacket is huge warm but I found the sleeves to be a bit small in diameter if you wear a swather etc. Also I wonder why Columbia doesn't use raglan sleeve so shoulder fit is improved along with gusseted underarm. I feel the zippers could be more robust, especially the front zipper, need larger pull. No waist adjustment draw-cord. Pockets are big and handle gloves fine. I suggest adding a soft fleece inside to the omni-heat to help arms slide in/out when moisture is present...omni heat liner wants to stick a bit to exposed skin. Thanks again for carrying BIG sizes. The jacket does not breath as well as expected. Mike T

Nice jacket - get a BIGGER Size
The jacket is nice material and design. However, the sizing is very small for this product. In fact, it is smaller than my previous Columbia jacket of the same labeled size. I had to return for the next size up (to get comparable to my previous jacket). Of course, Columbia customer support was really nice about sending out a new one with free shipping.
It looks like Columbia is skimping on material. Definitely order the next size (or two) up - yes, it is that small.

Size Chart is Off
I am happy with this coat, but annoyed that I had to pay an additional $21 in shipping-- not to mention the delay-- to get the right size because I followed the erroneous size chart on their website.

Excellent Product
Well made and very comfortable. Sheds water well. The liner is suprisingly warm. Which is good as the fit is a bit tight. 2X is normally quite roomy for me. This is 3X and fit is snug. Not uncomfortable, and it still gives very good range of motion. It would be nice if the outside pockets on the shell were lined.
Shell has good ventilation when worn alone, and the liner is also moderately water resistant. Overall a great jacket.

Lives up to expectations
Definitely a bit snug compared to my old Columbia jackets (same size), but top quality and greatly improved design are appreciated.

Wonderfully made Jacket
True to size and well thought out. Pockets in all the right places and the inside layer is very nice. Stays in place and easy to work if you need to take out. Love this jacket
