Men’s Passo Alto™ Reinforced Pant 4.3 5 18 18
Ready to get into whatever comes my way These are hard-wear, ultra-comfortable hiking pants with super-high durability and strategic flex points in the butt (which is also vented below the belt) and at the knees. 5'11", 34" waist, L-32 fits PERFECTLY. Don't let their light weight fool you. They appear to be the next-higher evolution of the Dolomite pants--and the fabrics are PHENOMENAL--not rip-stop, but just as tough. Soft, smooth, and cool against the skin, but rugged enough to repel the toughest scrub/scree/rocks. I agree that the belt will not function as a "utility" hanger, nor would I wear these out on the town. These augment my Silver Ridge convertibles for outdoor adventures in extreme (hot, rugged) conditions--particularly when I need stretch and cannot compromise leg protection. July 8, 2012
Looks cool online but.... I live in TN near the mountains. I would guess the engineers behind these pants went too far. There are no belt loops for a tough changeable belt on which I ALWAYS hang a knife, gps, multi-tool. The internal belt it comes with also looks funny once on you. The belt end hangs down like 8 inches for... style? They probably work great, I don't know, I never would wear them outside, just not as practical as normal pants I am used to wearing. June 16, 2012
NOT REINFORCED Although the pants seem comfortable...This product is ADVERTISED as a "reinforced pant", however it is close to being the EXACT OPPOSITE. The material at the knee and rear areas is actually THINNER than the rest of the pant and it is almost see-through. The pictures and description led me to believe otherwise. NOTHING about these pants is "REINFORCED". Please do not make the same mistake I did AND keep in mind that the $17 I spent just on shipping is lost. I guess that's my mistake, though, as I should have ordered from another retailer that doesn't charge shipping. TO COLUMBIA: Please change the description so that people don't make the same mistake. Thank you! June 7, 2012
One of the best pair of pants I've owned. Issue with original fit: I'm normally a 32 waist 34 inseam guy, and originally I got the Medium/34 for these pants which turned out to be too loose around the waist, hence my rating of "fits slightly large". I exchanged for a Small/34 and those fit perfectly. I've never been a Small around my waist, so this was a welcome boost to my ego and vanity :)Love the fit and comfort. Material stretches and moves with you, allowing for unrestricted movement in any situation. Very cool and breathable fabric. Riding in a hot car with a broken a/c, these kept my nether region cool, dry, and comfy - a stark contrast to what happens in that same environment with jeans. Lightweight, and very stylish. I got them in black and I love the versatility - I can wear them to work with a polo as a casual-formal, or I can take them hiking or to the gym with sneakers and a tank as a sport outfit. I've even gone out salsa dancing in them with formal shoes and shirt as a semi-formal attire. I'm thinking of buying several of these and tossing my jeans and other pants all together. These are great for any occasion (wish they had more variety in colors). The pockets are deep and roomy, and I love that they have zippers so stuff won't fall out when you're in weird positions. The fit around the legs is perfect, not too baggy and not too tight. 34 inseam for me is perfect (I'm 6'2, athletic build, 175lbs), and the elastic drawstring at the end allows me to cinch the pant legs up above my calves for a fresher feel while tip toeing across a creek. I also like the built in belt, which is airport security friendly, as it has a plastic snap buckle. These will definitely be my next air travel pants for their comfort, pocket security, and hassle-free-edness (yeah, I just made that word up).The only worry I have is concerning the durability. The pants are so lightweight, comfy, and breathable that the fabric seems like it won't hold up to sustained abuse while sliding down rock or bushwhacking through thorn ridden cacti. I've only had them for a week, so I guess we'll see how long they hold up. FYI: the black pants are one solid color throughout, not two-toned like the picture on the web depicts.I would definitely recommend these to anyone as picky and @nal as me. June 2, 2012
Excellent for fisherman These are the best pants I have found for wearing under breathable waders. And they look good enough to wear before and after my fishing trips. May 11, 2012
Passo Alto Reinforced Pants As usual, Columbia's outdoor wear is top-notch. I love the very comfortable fit and the look. No matter what you are doing - bike riding, walking, or just standing the comfort is there. April 28, 2012
Can't wait for September Bought this pant for an Alaska adventure this coming September. Grouse, ptarmigan and duck hunting, backpacking, flyfishing, rafting, & sea kayaking. So far I have had to content myself with wearing them biking and hiking, for which they are excellent. Great freedome of movement and breathability. I love the drawstring cuffs, which keep them off the ground and keep out ticks! April 24, 2012
Multi-Functional Even though these were designed for treking they are an oustanding 3 season pant for wearing under fishing waders. Extrmely light weight, 100% free range of movement even while wading slippery, rocky stream bed and negotiating steep stream banks. Exceptional moisture wicking properties, better than shorts in hot humid weather which can feel clamy against wader interiors (bare skin). Almost like your wearing nothing at all under your breathable waders. Ankles sinch tight so they don't ride up while putting waders on. The belt is lightweight and functions well. I'm very impressed and would recommend to any fly angler who wears waders. They even look good when taking a break for a beer or 3, even dinner. Ma Boyle should place a PFG logo on these and market them as under wader attire. April 9, 2012
Great product Great pair of pants. Fits comfortably and the color is nice. Quite warm and maneuverable. December 20, 2011
great pants After much research,I couldn't be more pleased with my decision. Great flexibility and comfort. I'm getting another pair asap. October 28, 2011
If you're a 34, find a different pant... The 32-34's fit like a 32. A 34 waist will be skin-tight in these... The next size up, 36-38's, fit like a 36... Seemed like nice pants, wish they made an in between size. (34-36) October 4, 2011
Excellent lightweight pant I am impressed with these pants. Great design, material, functionality, durability. If you are looking for a pant to hike, climb, backpack, this is a great option at a fraction of the price of comparable companies. I took these on a five day backpacking / ridge traverse trip in the Sierras, put them through a lot of abuse, and was surprised by how well they held up given the lightweight material. Great product by Columbia. September 26, 2011
Great Pants! Feel Great. Fit Great. Look Great. Only things that keeps these pants form getting a 5 star rating is the inseam is too long. Shortest inseam is 32". A 30" incher is needed for us guys with shorter legs. I'm 5'10 but have a 29.75 " inseam. These seem to hang too low and consequently, the knee reinfrocement go too low.The poiskets with zippers are great. Oh, dont go too near the campfire (or ride your motorcycle - exhaust pipes too hot) as the material melts. July 30, 2011
NIIIICE!!! I bought these for the sole purpose of working in them as a professional arborist in the hot and humid state of Mississippi. The stretchable material in the knees and seat are perfect for swinging around in the trees. They also minimize my wet butt syndrome by pulling the moisture off my body and helping it to dry as quickly as possible. The zip front pockets??!!! Fantastic!!! My wife loves that i don't come home with pocketfuls of sawchips!!! I bet Columbia didn't know they would be catering to a bunch of tree squirrels when they desined these pants - but i'm glad they did!!! July 18, 2011
Nice pants, but... I got the pants a month ago for an upcoming camping trip to moosehead lake Maine. They are very comfortable. The waist fits very nicely too. I'm a big guy, so I got the XXL. They are very comfortable, BUT the inseam is too long. You should offer a 30" inseam. When I wear them the knee padding is down on my shin and is kind of pointless and goofy looking. That is pretty much the only bad thing I have to say about them. Also, the black pants are totally jet black. The picture on the website makes them look like the pants are a light black and the kneepadding is jet black. June 23, 2011
Dolomite Pant I'm 34 waist 34 inseam, the med 34 are exact fit. The mobility and and lack of weight is unreal. They don't make all the noise like the strech pants and feel more breathable. May 6, 2011
Great Trekking pant I live in Alaska and do a lot of hiking and mountaineering; these pants fit the bill. Four-way-stretch for a full range of motion, zippered security pockets, a belt that actually works, and draw cords at the cuffs to pull the legs up during stream crossings or a little fly fishing. Very quick drying, and sturdier stretch fabric at knees and back side. April 21, 2011
Functional and comfy. Nice pants and I think the seat and knee material is great. Length feels good and waist is spot on. Geat activity and they look cool. February 2, 2011
