MAD OVER CONFUSION. This was frustrating for me. I love my ROC, Lander and other Columbia pants. They are about all I wear since retiring. But the buying process/advertising for these was confusing.1. This pant is advertised as a ROC pant. I thought ROC was the model name of the pant I liked. Now that they have appended that name to what is essentially a jean, I don't know what ROC means anymore. This is not the ROC pant it is a pair of jeans.2. The web site (at least at the time I purchased) said the pant had a zippered security pocket. It does not.3. The color names are perpetually confusing. If you must you marketing names, can you at least provide a users guide to decode the marketing names. Dark moss is, I think, a kind of greenish-Olive. Can you say that somewhere please.I really like Columbia pants, I must have 12 pair in my closet. But this was frustrating.And, by the way, the five pocket pants are usual good quality EXCEPT the front pockets are way too shallow. March 7, 2013
Good Pant and Nice price The pant is nice for the price. My only complaint is that the crotch area is kind of small. I feel like it is limiting. The waste is also low and maybe that contributes to the small feeling. March 7, 2013
Color names need some work... I bought these pants in the hopes that I could use them for my workplace, which requires black slacks. With a name like Abyss one would assume that the color of these pants would be black. Instead I got a nicely fitting pair of pants that seem to go from a dark gray to a blue color. I can't quite decide which. I will most likely keep these pants but I can't use them for my workplace. The naming conventions for colors really needs some work. I love making the names something unique and outdoorsy but Grill, Alpine Tundra and Abyss are NOT colors and can mislead your loyal customers. There are no casual or hiking pants that I can find from Columbia that are black in color. Disappointing. =( February 25, 2013
Returning after bad experience with Lander style I was a Lander pants devotee. Then something changed dramatically about 3 years ago and the fabric used for these pants was literally water soluble. I stayed away from Columbia clothing period. Then I became eligible for a pro deal discount and thought I would give Columbia another chance. So far the 2 styles of pants(Roc and Ultimate Roc 5 pocket(UR)) I have been wearing are doing well(2 months in). The fabrics are different with the UR having a lighter material. The cut of the Roc is more generous with the UR having a less relaxed fit but not tight. I am 6-4, 250 and wear 40-32. Both loosen up after a brief time after washing. I now have 5 pair of the Roc's and 4 pair of the UR. Would recommend. February 9, 2013
Skinny pants I'm an athletic guy and therefore have a smaller waist with some muscle on my legs and butt - these pants do not work for me. It seems they are made for dudes with very skinny lower bodies. The waist (34) fit great but the pants were extremely snug through the crotch, butt and upper legs. They're just made for a way different body type than I have! February 4, 2013

Great Casual Pant I was very reluctant to buy these pants after reading the only other review. It described the pant as very tight / too small. Well, that's kind of what I was looking for. I wanted a nice looking pair of casual khakis to wear to evening dinner parties or a get-together with friends that were not huge and made me look like I was still in high school. I went ahead and bought a pair and they are great. Exactly what I was looking for. My wife thinks they look really cute on me. I'm 6'1", 185 and the 34/32 fit me great. Let me say though, I wouldn't go rock climbing in these pants, but a hike, absolutely! The pants seem to be very well made of course. The material is thick, but not too thick. Slim Fit These pants are slim fit and tight in the crotch area. I own a few pairs of Ultimate ROC pants and those are great. August 8, 2012
