It does what the name indicates The first time I wore the jacket was on my motorcycle. With just a shell over the Wind D-ny jacket I was very comfortable at a temperature of 40 degrees and 50-60MPH.No shell needed while skiing White Pass Washington. Temps. in the high 20's. Not an expert in the deep and steep. Just an average skier going down hill.This jacket is form fitting and I can see how some people would complain about this. I am 5' 9" and 190 pounds and I bought the large which fits me to a tee except for the slightly long sleeve. I would rather have a sleeve a bit to long than to short. The Omni-heat liner also works very well. February 9, 2013

Nice coat but! Everything about this coat is great except for the arms. If you have larger forearms you will find this coat very tight. The models must be bean poles. January 12, 2013

Wind D-Ny fit to too small in the shoulders I would have loved to have kept this jacket. The fit was to tight in the shoulders and the sleeves are way too long. The jacket has an odd fit in the large size. Too Bad, I was looking forward to the wind protection and warmth of this jacket. December 26, 2012

How to measure

Neck: Measure at the base or thickest part of your neck.
Chest/Bust: Measure at the fullest part of the chest, under the armpits and over the shoulder blades, keeping the tape measure firm and level.
Waist: Measure around natural waistline, allowing tape measure to sit comfortably.
Sleeves: Start at the center back of your neck and measure across the shoulder to the elbow and down to the the wrist. Round up to the next even number.
Inseam: Measure from the top of the interior leg to the bottom of the ankle.
