Warm weather kayaking rain gear I've been a fan of breathable rain gear since the introduction of Gortex over 25 years ago.I bought this to wear in south Texas during inclement weather when kayaking. I haven't had to use it while kayaking yet, and will update my review after I do. The jacket seems well put together and is light weight in comparison to my 'standard' breathable rain parka.It is a brighter yellow than the picture depicts...more like the yellow that displays in the zoom view box as you cursor over the picture. I like that 'cause you just can't be too visible when kayaking around boaters.I would give it 5 stars if not for two design issues.First, it has no loop in the inside collar with which to hang up the parka. A minor issue except for the ultra slippery liner that just doesn't want to catch on a coat hook.The second and most significant issue is that the pockets are held closed with a single snap - not a zipper. There is no flap to cover the opening and prevent rain from entering.I put water inside the pocket as a test, and the water soaked the inside jacket lining. In the kind of downpour we get around Houston, I believe water would likely get inside the pockets. This isn't an issue for me because I'd probably have on my light weight breathable pants.More to come after I've worn it in warm rainy weather... February 7, 2013
Rainjacket Great rainjacket. Breathes well and keeps you dry even in a down poor. Rain suit combo is perfect for being outdoors in the rain spring, summer and fall. Rain jacket is slightly big, I got a large and could have gotten a medium after trying one on in stores. Large still works thou. Use it all the time for rainly days spend fishing. Very good in the rain I was glad I brought my Columbia American Angler rain jacket on a recent walleye fishing trip on Lake Erie. A heavy rain storm came in on us fast. I put my Columbia rain gear on and kept fishing. The rest of my fishing partners did not have rain gear, so they quit fishing to hide under a plastic tarp that was on the boat. Needless to say I caught my limit and stayed dry. Thanks to my Columbia rain gear. March 21, 2012

Dry & Rugged I keep this jacket in my boat at all times and it has helped me fish hard on many rainy tournaments. This jacket is a must for rainy fishing and is the best rain jacket I have owned. December 17, 2011
Best rain coat I've ever owned I fish a lot of bass tournaments on Kentucky Lake in Tennessee/Kentucky and am on the water about 100 days a year. It rains about 45 inches a year here, so needless to say I've put my American Angler jacket to the test. Whether I'm standing and fishing in torrential rainfall or driving a bass boat 60 mph in the rain, I stay dry. August 7, 2011
a must have I used this jacket for the first time in one of my fishing tournaments where it rained all day and it did great. I stayed dry as a bone. I really liked how well the hood adjusts to my needs unlike other rain jackets. April 26, 2011

Angler Jacket This is the best jacket that I have found to use along the shore to fish. Very nice fit, weather tight, great for an outer shell to keep out the cold. My only question is, why did you put velcro and buttons instead of zippers on all of the pockets ? January 13, 2011

A Versatile Rain Jacket This jacket is very versatile. It's light enough for warm weather use, and works well as an outer layer in colder conditions. A lot of jackets/bibs designed for fishing are either too heavy for warm weather use, or too light for colder temperatures. Not crazy about the pockets Love the material, it is very light and comfy. However, the pockets are not closed with a waterproof zipper, they just have a button closure. AMERICAN ANGLER JACKET AND BIBS I have been looking for a reliable and affordable rainsuit for sometime. Columbia Angler wear fits that bill in my opinion. Thus far the suit has preformed flawlessly. I like the little bit of oversize that is built into the suit for wearing over fleece coats during the early or late season when temps are a bit cooler. Now I can be sure that I will stay dry when I am caught in the rain. July 21, 2010

excellent fit and terriffic product I often fish the south coast with moderate temperatures with heavy rain. This product is perfect for the south coast with inches of rain without being to hot so as to cause sweating. Very comfortable jacket and bibs. February 3, 2010
