looks like it's great but a couple caveats Overall looks great --- functiinality, warmth, design, etc. Velcro keeps liner sleeves attached at cuffs. Haven't gotten to use it to ski Montana slopes yet (lack of snow) but looks like it's warm and wind proof. Couple of cautions -- I'm 5'11'" male 175 pounds and got the large (I'm always between a medium and a large) --- shoulders and sleeves great fit, but really ample in the chest and midsection -- not a close fit. I intend to occasionally add a down vest underneath and it will accomodate the vest and more. I could probably weight 240 lbs and it would still fit. So not so sure about using it on warmer days when I don't use extra layering. Also, not an excess of pockets, and for skiing I like lots of individual pockets to stash stuff. Otherwise looks like it'll be great. December 17, 2011
Pretty much what I expected Nice jacket. Fits well. Haven't tried outdoor, but expect it to be very nice. December 17, 2011
Awesome Coat Great service, fast shipping and awesome price!! November 23, 2011
3 Coats, 1 Big Smile Let me start by saying why I marked the Bugaboo parka as "Fits Slightly Large"... In my opinion the liner fleece fits perfectly (I am 6' and 185 lbs) but the shell is slightly large. When worn together, the fit is just fine, but when the shell is worn alone, it seems a bit baggy and it hangs a bit. Nonethless, I prefer that the shell run a little large, so this is actually a plus to me since I can more and/or thicker layers under the shell. The Interchange system works well but the neck and sleeves can be a little tough to secure. The pocket design and locations are all excellent, although the music play pocket is not accessible whil wearing the liner zipped in. I would prefer an external music pocket with a pass through for the headphone cable. The hood is removable (slight downgrade in my book, since I got this with the intention of using a hood more often than not) and the fit is adjustable. I have a large head (7 3/4), so this adjustable hood is a plus and it fits great when properly adjusted.Overall this is an excellent jacket and a excellent value (I bought last year's model from the outlet area for only $119). I love it!! November 23, 2011
Excellent Mild Winter Coat I've owned this coat for a few weeks now and I consider it the best jacket/coat I've ever owned. Construction feels durable. Pockets abound and the liner is very easy to remove and put back into the shell. The red color is vivid and looks great. The only caveat I have regarding this jacket is that it runs small. Quite small. I'm not a big man, by any means. I'd say my clothes run about 75%/25% medium/large. I tried on a few Columbia jackets at a nearby store and found that the medium was entirely too big and that the small fits me like a glove. I was a little leery ordering a men's small sight unseen, but it turned out the be the right choice.I won't take stars off of the rating because of the size, I'd just strongly recommend to anyone buying a Columbia coat to go try a few of them on before you order one over the web. Bugaboo Parka This Jacket fits well, the hood is nice, zipper and Velcro work good, I like the fact this is slightly longer than my previous Bugaboo Parka. The pockets placement is kind of low for your hands, the outer nylon seems much thinner than my previous jacket I hope this will last as long as my previous jacket(zipper broke). The overall quality is good. November 21, 2011
Men's Bugaboo Parka I purchased this for my husband and he has worn the detachable fleece jacket everyday. He says the fact that both items have lots of pockets is a big bonus; The fleece is the warmest, and looks great on him as well. Winter can be very cold in Idaho and I'm sure this parka will serve him well for years to come. That being said, I still have my Willawaw parka, circa 1993 and it is still looking good as new. I do notice that the details on my parka that we don't see anymore (better quality). Overall, I think Columbia kicks all other brands in the dirt, I've tried them and I keep coming back to what works. November 14, 2011
Winter coat Good quality, great workmanship, very warm, will be buying more products July 14, 2011
Great jacket This is a great jacket! I bought the XL for my husband who is 6'6" tall and fits perfect. You have a very good and cheap shipping service. Thank you. June 24, 2011
Wonderful It´s great!!!!!I bought it for my son and he really like it.I wish I had bought another for my other son. June 12, 2011
the perfect gift I bought a navy bugaboo parka for a birthday gift. He absolutely loved it! Perfect fit and perfect choice. May 24, 2011
outfitter I've been using this jacket since it came in everyday. On the water and for everyday use. Its perfect for our unstable spring weather in montana. Great in the snow and wind. If it gets to warm I just pull the fleece and use it alone. I would recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a all in one jacket! April 19, 2011
Heartbroken I bought this Parka because I was going to Tahoe and would be in real snow for the first. Coming from Houston, I don't really have a reason to own a heavy coat, so I figured it would be cost effective to get a "system" and use the inner layer on a normal winter day. I immediately fell in love with the Ranger because of the brown and black plaid fleece. The shell fit perfect but when I removed the fleece and tried it on by itself I realized I would not be able to wear it by itself. It was a hard choice whether to keep it or not, but I decided I would sacrifice wearing the fleece by itself ever and kept the jacket. April 14, 2011
Awesome Coat!! Bought this for my teenaged nephew who stands out in the freezing, wet, NW weather waiting for the school bus. He stays dry, when he remembers to wear the shell. Even wet, the fleece liner still keeps him warm. April 13, 2011
Fantastic I used this jacket for everything from paddling in the winter to walking around campus. Performed perfectly in all situations. It breathes enough that you don't over heat on long paddle trips, but still kept me warm through a unseasonably cold winter (in Georgia at least). Would definitely recommend for the adventurer who needs his gear to perform in every day situations as well. March 29, 2011
Birthday Im giving this coat to my boyfriend for his birthday, everyone i've shown has LOVED the coat! so hopefully he does too! March 28, 2011
Not as good as the older version Purchased one in 1996 for my wife when we moved from Panama to Kansas. She loved it on a December trip to Germany. She still has it but got a rip in a pocket last year. It is now a farm/chore coat. I purchased this one for her to have a nicer looking coat to wear. Yes I know it is a mans coat and the arms are long for her but she likes the color. However it is not as well made, fewer pockets, seems lighter wieght/thiner fabric. March 22, 2011
Great Winter Jacket This is my first new jacket probably about 6 years, so it was much needed. My previous jacket was a Columbia as well and it served me well. This one is a nice upgrade however because it fits just right, it doesn't let a draft up through the bottom and the velcro seals the front zipper up nicely. Plus I love the fleece zip-out that comes along with it. This is an all-around great jacket that just got me through a typical Minnesota winter, so it's doing it's job well. March 11, 2011
They don't make 'em like they used to Bought one to replace a 2006 version that I consider the best winter coat ever. New one seems to be a tad flimsier, much thinner inner fleece, no goggle pocket on right side, one fewer outside breast zipper. Haven't worn it sub-zero yet, but it served the purpose on a ski day in the teens. Real test will come when I'm sitting more or less motionless on a cold day. Can't say for sure whether or not the new fleece is more efficient or Gert just got cheap on me. No complaints yet but the jury is out. March 9, 2011
Perfect for just about anything February 24, 2011
Good one It is the rught one for me. I stay at a mile from my office in Seattle and this winter my earlier coat was giving me shivers. i switched over to this coat. This one kept me warm and i feel the best even at sub zero temperatures. Its the best i have worn. February 19, 2011
Very good I bought this Jacket when my last one quit on me(It was a no name brand), and I like it very much. My only complaints are that the liner likes to come outside the sleeves a bit and that it fits a little big. I usually wear a medium coat but this medium was a bit to big so I went to a small. Otherwise I would highly recommend this product to others, as it serves me well in anf weather or activity. February 14, 2011
Seven years later... I got this coat seven years ago, and I still wear it almost every day in the winter. It's been on countless ski trips and camp outs. The quality is phenomenal. It's warm. It looks cool. It lasts forever. It's worth twice what it sells for. February 7, 2011
bugaboo The warmest coat I have ever owned I wish the outer shell was a little less stiff otherwise I think this is a very good product January 13, 2011
Amazing Jacket I was shopping for a new ski jacket and originally bought a TNF jacket that was just ok. I happended to pass a Columbia store on the way home and stopped in.I found this amazing jacket that was half the price of the TNF jacket and I liked this jacket twice as much!Needless to say, I returned the TNF jacket ASAP.PROS:Fits very well. Even has tall sizes!Warm and breathableComforable and lightStylishCONS:None January 11, 2011
Colorado Winters 8 degrees I love this parka. It is very heavy and it keeps me warm on days when it is below 10 degrees. I feel safe as I go to work knowing if I get stuck in the snow I can step out of the car with confidence. I have many more Columbia clothing and shoes. We need them in Colorado. Thanks Columbia for making a great quality product. January 9, 2011
Awesome Parka This parka kept me warm during the December 2010 NYC blizzard...very glad I had it!! December 29, 2010
saving the life of this ex-Californian Sixteen years in weatherless, seasonless Southern California thinned my blood considerably, so I was concerned about finding a winter coat warm enough for the Boston winter. So far this one has been perfect: stops the wind, stays dry inside, and keeps out the cold. I expect it to be the only coat I'll need for the rest of winter (and many more to come). December 21, 2010
GREAT jacket...one warning Best jacket(s) I have ever had. Currently on my 4th one. They last forever...very warm, comfortable, etc. The ONLY issue is that you have to be VERY careful around campfires, portable heaters (at tailgates), etc. Flying embers at campfires will burn holes in the shell and getting too close to a portable heater will cause shell to melt. Unfortunately, when that happens you have to buy a whole new jacket, liner and all. It would be GREAT if Columbia sold replacement shells only. November 29, 2010
So far, I love it! I'm giving this jacket 4 out of 5 stars ONLY because Winter is not yet here. I wore this jacket around the the house the day I received it. It fits great!, and I love all the "pull-string" adjustments. The fleece liner is where it's at! Stylish and VERY warm. Pockets, Pockets, Pockets!!!!...GREAT! I was able to test this jacket in a Walk-In freezer(averages -22 degrees) and had it not been for the thin pants I had on, I would of never known just how cold the freezer was. GREAT JOB COLUMBIA!!!
