Men's Bugaboo Tech™ II Interchange Jacket 4.1 5 8 8
Looks great, feels great! I bought this Jacket to use on Skiing trips. Before my first ski trip, I tried it out in the city, and boy! was it warm and toasty!I removed the inner lining while skiing and just used the outer shell as a wind and snow guard. It has a snow skirt that wraps around your waist. The one thing that annoys me is the hood is not very easily adjustable and flops in front of my eyes when I use it. March 11, 2013
Very warm Great Product!Pros: Super warm, Columbia quality, price(I combined the 20% off with free shipping, while the jacket was already on sale: paid $138)Cons: A little heavy (but probably won't tear)Overall: I am very happy with this purchase, I am 5'10" and 165-175lbs and the medium fits perfectly without being baggy or too tight. The addition of the space blanket material into the liner should become standard with any brand! The liner is so warm that I usually just wear it by itself. March 6, 2013
Works better than expected. I bought this jacket online after trying it on in the store in a different color. I was already set in my purchase, but the 1 star review that had been posted here previously shook me a little especially since it mentioned Chicago weather. I took the risk anyways and am actually very satisfied with my choice. While the jacket is certainly not meant for those 10°F or below days, it works just fine every other day. This is a perfect inbetween jacket for walking around on those not-so-severe Chicago winter days. It blocks wind effectively and that's the key for Chicago. I find I don't get too hot in it when I continue to wear it inside shops and I don't get too cold when outside either. The only real problem I had is the same problem I always tend to have -- a medium is too small and a large is too big. January 27, 2013
Good value One reviewer wrote that this jacket did not work for Chicago winters. I can understand his review because this jacket is more like a layered windbreaker than an insulated parka. You have to wear an insulated layer underneath like a med/hvy turtleneck or henley. Its great for skiing because it is not bulky. Its also trim fitting so if you have any bulk, go up to the next larger size than you normally wear. First time I wore this was at Vail in -13 temps and it worked well, but you could feel the cold bite through it a little bit on the lifts when you weren't moving and generating heat. January 24, 2013
Sweet jacket This jacket definitely deserves high marks. It feels well-made, fits well and is plenty warm. I actually got it as a warranty replacement for another jacket I had sent in. Columbia couldn't make the repair, so they replaced it no problem, which is awesome. I got it for walking back and and forth to school all winter in Minneapolis, and I think it will hold up nicely. Just this morning, I made the mile-and-a-half walk in 4 degree weather and was plenty comfy. The only downsides would be that the color is less of a black and more charcoal, which is really no big deal at all, and that the inside with the Omni-Heat is super shiny, and vaguely reminiscent of 80s-era Michael Jackson's single glove. Some might dig the look, others may find it off-putting. Get this jacket and be a thriller, not a chiller! January 20, 2013
Very Warm Jacket I recently bought this jacket to wear for blowing and scooping snow. I was out with it today with the wind chill at -10 and only having a thin thermal shirt on and I was sweating. This is a great jacket. January 20, 2013
Great Coat If you need to stay warm in the winter, you have come to the right place.Tested it out skiing in a snow storm @ 20F with quite a wind blowing. This coat can keep you warm.I don't like attaching ski passes to zippers, but there is no other location for the pass. There is a cord in the right pocket that you could attach to, but the cord attaches where the zipper starts, so you would have to leave the pocket open to have the pass exposed.I like to zip a coat all the way to the top to keep my chin warm on a cold outing, and I did find the neck area small in diameter when fully zipped, which is why I put runs a little small, the rest of the coat fits like a large should. Sleeve lengths are good and can be adjusted with the velcro, the waist of the coat fits nicely as well.I have not removed the iner lining as I don't think I will ever use it that way.The attached hood has elastic cords to pull it tight around your head to keep warmth in and prevent it from blowing off in high winds, like skiing down hill etc. I have not figured out a way to pull it tight and make it stay, so I tied a loop in it to take up extra slack. That was the reason for 4 out of 5 stars on the function.Overall, I think this will be a great coat. January 9, 2013
One of the worst jackets I have ever owned I bought this jacket for my father last year, and had paid the full $300 price. I had to take the jacket back from him ( and exchanged my TNF plasma thermal jacket with him) as I could not bear to see him suffer in the winters. Here are some of the aspects which makes this jacket a no buy for Chicago weather.1) the jacket in its combined form is pretty heavy, and the material feels very stiff to allow for free hand movements.2) The inner jacket does not offer much of a protection, and one would feel cold in it even if the temperature is around 45F3) The inner and the outer jacket combined donot offer much of a protection as there is no thermal layer in either of the jackets to block the cold (For example, down filling is a thermal layer). Multiple layers of Nylon/polyester/quilt donot offer the kind of thermal insulation that one would require for Chicago winters. I start feeling cold in this combined system when the temperature is around 35F. Also if its windy out, it gets even worse.3) Agreed, the jacket is well crafted and looks great, but then those are secondary aspects, the primary pupose of this jacket should be to keep the cold out!
