Storm Shell This is a fantastic shell that exceeds expectations for wet weather. It's light, packable and perfect for me when I'm up in the trees either taking photos or guiding zip line canopy tours. Very breathable yet still stands up with the best in a downpour. Awesome waterproof jacket! This jacket is perfect, size is completely true, my heigh is 1.80 mtrs, 41 ich of chest and 37 ich of waist, and M size was exactly, when I wore the first time, I said "OMG!, custom built!! hehe" ... 100% waterproof, useful in your mountain adventures! or you can use if want to see to a movie... its so cool!! Perfect water and wind proof I went to Boston a week ago in Fab 2013. There was a severe storm and heavy snow there. This jacket is perfect water & snow proof. It's light weight but also wind proof. Perfect for the Texas saltwater angler Was needing a waterproof shell to keep me dry during fall, winter, and early spring wadefishing excursions on the Texas coast. This is a perfect jacket for fishing Texas because it is lightweight and breathable, keeping you comfortable on those warmer days. It repels all forms of water you will encounter on the bay, either a rain-shower or spray from the boat on a choppy bay, but the most important thing for me was keeping my elbows dry for those deep wading needs. This jacket can also be worn during the coldest winter days if one layers properly, but by no means is the jacket designed to keep you warm. But it surely keeps you dry, and that alone makes this jacket a top choice for anglers on the Texas coast who fish year round. February 25, 2013

Excellent! This is an excellent light jacket. I'm glad I chose it over a North Face Jacket. It is very comfortable, doesn't feel cheap, like a NF jacket. It keeps me warm in the morning unlike the NF which is very thin. Overall I'm glad I went with this jacket. January 31, 2013

Poor Water Repellent I went camping with this jacket and when I got back home, I noticed that it really absorbed the smoke from our campfire. I washed it according to the fabric care directions, but unfortunately the smoke did not come out. I tried washing it one more time (hoping the detergent would at least mask the smoky smell). Unfortunately that second washing started to remove the water repellent. While parts of this jacket remain waterproof, there are many patches that are absorbing water and bleeding through to the inside.Given the numerous five star reviews, I'll assume mine was a rare situation (or it is only designed to be washed once). Men's Hail Tech Jacket This jacket is perfect for an outer layer and light enough to pack it wherever you go. You'll never have to leave it home. I received the package and wore it immediately in the rain. I love that it is not bulky. My only complaint is the sleeves are little long. I also do not like the amount of velcro attached to the sleeves because it is more than needed and will attract dirt, weeds and whatever. Other than those 2 very minor issues, I love this jacket. I am 5-10 170 with a 32-33 inch arm length and other than the sleeves a bit longer than I would like, the fit is true to size. December 26, 2012
Very pleased with the appearance of the jacket. I was a little worried the color would be a different shade of green than on the screen but it was exact. A medium fit a little snug. He usually wears a medium but he's a teenager so his body is still changing so it could be him and not the jacket size.He hasn't used it outdoors in the rain yet so we're not sure of jackets performance but coming from Columbia I'm sure it will live up to it's name. High-quality rain shell Product has already performed outstanding in the short time I've owned it. We've had both rain and snow during that time. Size is a little snug compared to similar Columbia jacket purchased in Fall of 2009 of the same size, XL. Maybe the fit has changed to a more Euro style? December 13, 2012
Windproof and Waterproof Tested this jacket on a canoe trip in 30 degree weather. Lightweight and completely waterproof. The jacket was breathable, so despite sweating while paddling I did not get damp or cold. I'm amazed at how good this is for the price. November 27, 2012
Too Small This is a very nice jacket and I was sorry to have to return it. I wear an extra large but this XL was just too small across the shoulders and in the chest area. Perfect for my bicycling commute Needed to replace a North Face rainproof jacket for my cycling commute here in the Twin Cities. Bought a larger size than I'd probably like so I can layer sweater/sweatshirts underneath. No flap over front zipper and I haven't riddin in steady rain yet, so I can't say how weatherproof it is yet. Looks and feels great, and the pockets are nice and roomy. I like the waist draw strap and the zippers are excellent quality. So far, I'm pleased with my purchase! November 13, 2012
Runs a bit small Had t0 return the LG I ordered for an XL. I'm 6' 1", 190lbs with a 42 chest. the LG fit Ok, but was a bit too snug with any kind of underlayer, like a sweatshirt. Can't comment on waterproofing; didn't yet get a chance to wear it. Workmanship seems fine. An inner pocket would be helpful. Outside breast pocket not verydeep; can hold small items like a cell phone. October 25, 2012

Color: "Gravel" Great jacket and everything, but my main problem with the one I bought is the fact that even though the image for "Gravel" shows a grey color, and you'd assume that Gravel meant grey, the jacket is somehow an olive green color. Fantastic I needed a waterproof jacket, and this jacket is incredible! It's got a little more weight then something like a poncho so it will keep you warmer then you think. It's vents are comfortably located and do a good job of letting the excess heat out. The waterproof shield is very good, above and beyond anyone else. This is my favorite jacket out of the 4 jackets I own, it's my go to jacket. October 4, 2012
Hail Tech Jacket This is a very well made waterproof jacket that fits true to size. The only thing I can say is that the color shown on the website is more of a grey, but when it arrived, it was very obviously a dark green. Other than that, it was what I expected from Columbia. September 24, 2012
Great rain wear Purchased this jacket for my husband to wear when taking the kids to the bus stop. It's perfect for spring weather. The pockets are nice and deep, and the hood is generously sized if you need to wear a hat too. The outside chest pocket is nice for your cell phone. One recommendation would be for an inside chest pocket as it has no inside pockets. Overall a great jacket though! May 7, 2012

Great for Idaho This is a rain jacket that is very soft to the touch and extremely water proof. The gills do their job when it warms up and shed heat. I really like the breast pocket for holding a cell phone, it is very functional. I am 6ft tall 195lbs and the large fit perfectly, although I do not have much room left for layering. April 7, 2012

Light weight, waterproof, packable This jacket is very light weight, waterproof (nice water beads in the Pacific NW), and is easily scrunched or packed. It also has a way to use my existing liners from older Columbia jackets, without worrying about zipper compatibility. March 1, 2012
Quality Jacket I purchased two of these jackets for our company - one for myself and one for an associate - and had them embroidered locally with our company logo. They look incredible and I'm sure we'll get a lot of compliments. The jackets fit like a glove and are true to size. We haven't had a chance to test them out in our South Florida monsoons but if these jackets are anything like my other Columbia clothing I expect that they will perform very well. My only recommendation to Columbia is to incorporate a zipped pocket for the hood so that it can be completely tucked away. Other than that, it's great product and well built. February 23, 2012

Happy Columbia customer I just returned from a fishing trip that required the use of the jacket. It fits very well, kept the wet weather off me and was very comfortable. Awesome! I can't get over how awesome this jacket is. I bought the red color and i just have to say, this is the most vibrant and beautiful red color that i have ever seen. Hands down! It looks nothing like the color online. There is no way any computer screen could do it justice! The material and quality of this jacket are just superb! I can't even begin to tell you how satisfied i am with Columbia's craftsmanship these day's. A Great material too, not the typical plastic tarpy feel that normal raincoats burden. Works Great Kept me dry and kept the wind out when I was working outdoors one weekend. Just had to wear a coat underneath (cold out).While I say it runs a bit big I think its more in my head because its so light it just feels more comfortable then my other rain jackets.The only concern I have about it is that I did see the fabric take a bit of water when I was working in it (changed to a darker green color). It only seemed to do it in area the fabric moves allot but it happened in very small patches and even then I don't remember feeling any water in those patches.Love the product so far, it just been a little cold to fully test it yet. How to measure
- Neck: Measure at the base or thickest part of your neck.
- Chest/Bust: Measure at the fullest part of the chest, under the armpits and over the shoulder blades, keeping the tape measure firm and level.
- Waist: Measure around natural waistline, allowing tape measure to sit comfortably.
- Sleeves: Start at the center back of your neck and measure across the shoulder to the elbow and down to the the wrist. Round up to the next even number.
- Inseam: Measure from the top of the interior leg to the bottom of the ankle.
