Phenomenal I purchased these for use on cooler days with ventilated hiking boots when "regular" athletic socks won't cut the mustard. I am still amazed at how soft and supportive they are for being wool--not scratchy or stiff at all! I'll echo another review posted here--they are warmer than they look/feel. The best part, however, is that no matter how sweaty/soggy they get, they remain comfortable, continue to insulate and DO NOT FALL DOWN. I take them off and hang them up when done and they are usually dry within an hour. I might actually use these for "casual" wear as well on chilly days--versatile and functional. Hiker Lite Socks I got these for my current deployment in Afghanistan as a contractor. With the cold fronts coming through it has been cold, and these have come in handy. I was shocked how they stayed up the entire day and didnt fall. The second time I wore these it warmed up and I folded them down and was amazed how warm my legs were and how much heat they held in. I am looking forward to the cold now, great socks, I will be buying a lot more. October 26, 2011
Trendy loser I was seeking replacements for my old, comfortable Columbia lightweight hiking socks. This isn't it. I bought extra large instead of my usual Large because these seemed to be made to be tight. They just barely fit. The entire sock is super stretchy, following the current trend that says socks should be "support", making them tight all over. They don't pull on my toes, but everything else is wrong. The top is so tight that it cuts off circulation, and I'm just average girth in the legs. They are also hot, despite their lightweight look, and just generally uncomfortable. July 25, 2011

My new favorite socks! I do a lot of adventure racing, orienteering, hiking and camping, and these socks work perfect for all of them! They're extremely comfortable and dry very quickly. This are thinner socks that should be used in the warmer weather. If you want warmer socks for cooler weather you should check out the Hiker Mid's or Hiker Heavy. They're the same sock, just thicker. Warmer Than They Look Very warm for the weight. I used them to deliver newspapaers wearing sneakers in 15 degree chill. Also good as a boot sock for shoveling snow. January 22, 2011
