Men's Sawyers Creek™ Softshell 4.4 5 17 18
Great For Fishing I bought this jacket based on its ability to break wind. I fish competitively and when running 60+ mph in cold weather wind chill can be very cold. Not only can the jacket break the wind down to nothing it keeps your body at a comfortable temperature in almost any conditions and is not too bulky to constrict movement. In bad weather I wouldn't be caught wearing anything else on the water. August 13, 2012
not as good as expected I bought this jacket to replace the same product I'd bought a few years ago - the product has changed a little as I anticipated but not in the way I'd like. The size fit well but there are now velcro straps on the wrists, which made pushing up the sleeves a little harder and tend to get in the way. The inside has this new silver insulation that looks a little over the top (very shiny). I was also hoping for a headphone hole in the chest pocket but no such luck. The product kept the basics the same in terms of warmness and comfort, but it's not quite up to quality and thoroughness as the last time I bought this jacket. A solid 'meh' from me. June 24, 2012
Well travelled jacket I used the Sawyers Creek on two trips.1st was in the desert environment of Phoenix, AZ. On my way, a flight attendant spilled some water on Sawyers & I just watched it bead off. It staved off the cool 56 degree weather.2nd was to the seaside environment of San Diego, CA. This was a great test as a storm was coming to the area. Sawyers blocked the wind well, cutting the wind chill factor down. Having the velcro on the sleeves helps keep the heat in. You don't sweat in an Omni-Heat jacket, it keeps your body temperature constant.I purchased this jacket in response to freezing on a rainy, windy December day in Anaheim.Mahalo Columbia. This product is awesome This coat is light weight. A very nice softshell. I have been able to wear it this winter so far with the mild temps and I live in Mn and its Dec. Im looking forward to trying out the omniheat when it gets a little colder. January 14, 2012
Men's Sawyers Creek™ Softshell Speedy delivery, product was perfect for what I wanted. Only ordered the color on this jacket so I could keep my son from wearing mine, his is solid black. But after receiving I really like it. December 29, 2011
yucky inside It was an awesome jacket, but the inside was too bling-bling! The silver lining was too much for my husband to handle! It looked like a disco jacket! December 27, 2011
College Student Looking to Stay Warm I intended to use the Sawyers Creek Softshell as a light, more ergonomic way of staying warm while going from class to class. It preforms well. I thougt it might be a littel more insulated that what's advertised. You'll definitely need something under it when the temperatures get in the 30's or lower, as suggested by some of the other comments. Would make a great outer layer for early winter or early fall/spring weather. Overall I'am impressed. December 27, 2011
Not to shabby I live in Chicago, its cold as you read. It was 14 degrees the other day. I had got this jacket the day before. I wore it the next day and i felt kinda small at first but you get used to it. It kept me warm for about half the day until it got colder at night. It does nothing for your arms. You are freezing your rear off. Overall this is a good purchase. December 16, 2011
This product is stylis and has great quality I bought this product as a light fall and winter jacket for the south. It stops the wind and repells water.great looking and comfortable. Will not keep you warm at 30 degrees without a baselayer. Very satisfied with this jacket. December 7, 2011
Nice for fall/early winter I got this jacket about 2 weeks ago, and it's great! Really light, and it's pretty warm down to about 30 degrees with just a t-shirt on underneath, which even with the Chicago wind is pretty good in my opinion. The build quality seems great, very tough, and overall I'm pretty impressed. This is my first Columbia purchase after a recent bad experience from North Face.I only gave this a 4 because the description made this jacket appear to go down to lower temperatures than it actually is for. I wish they would put a temp rating in their descriptions. November 17, 2011
Looks great, not as functional I bought this jacket mainly to wear under a columbia rain jacket. The jacket is compass blue and looks absolutely amazing, it fits perfectly for me (5 foot 10, 170 lbs.) athletic fit which is awesome. The jacket doesn't keep you as warm as the other reviews suggest it to be. Detroit is windy at this time of year and I assumed (based on other reviews) that this jacket would be adequate for keeping wind out and warm in. So far it has not really done much for being "windproof" and it doesn't really keep me very warm in the current autumn conditions. This jacket is very good at venting during warmer conditions though, as soon as i walk into my apartment I expected to overheat but the jacket vents and breathes particularly well. I am disappointed that it is not as warm as it suggests in the reviews and description. It is a great looking jacket though. November 10, 2011
Sawyers Creek review This jacket is amazing. I've never really had a jacket that was completely wind proof. The other day it was rainy and blustery (winds from 15 - 25 mph) and I had to run to the grocery store. I got out of my car and much to my surprise, I couldn't feel the wind cut through the jacket at ALL. I've observed many people who wear these types of jackets (Columbia and that other brand) and I've always thought that they were just trying to make a fashion statement (because let's be honest, these jackets look very good), because they were pricey and status defining. I now know that these people weren't necessarily trying to be vain, but warm and dry! Like I said, this is my first high quality jacket and I could not be happier. It is form fitting, mobility is great, and for as light as it is, incredibly warm. I would absolutely recommend this jacket for anyone. It is extremely versatile. October 20, 2011
The prefect jacket around town or out for a hike. This jacket is well fitted, long enough to keep out drafts, adjustable at the cuff for a tighter fit when weather turns ugly. Starts to heat up the instant I put it on. Runs true to size (a relief after buying Mountain Hardwear gear that is terrific but always sized small).Omni-heat is like an emergency reflective blanket in the lining. Expect my other coats will languish in the closet unless I need a hood. June 21, 2011
Nice jacket I love this jacket. However there are a few things that I do not like about it. It is a little loose fitting around the waist(however the length is just right). The jacket is also is not as warm as expected. It is very thin and light weight. One thing that is disappointing is that it feels cheaper than it is. The pockets could also be a bit larger and the zippers could be of the water proof or "hidden" variety. But given these things I would still buy it. It is great in the wind and is very very light. It also seems to do ok in the rain. It also looks very expensive from the outside and is basically what I was looking for. June 1, 2011
Sawyers Creek Softshell Jacket. Best light weight jacket....hands down. I recently lost my North Face jacket and needed a replacement. I wasn't happy with North Face because the jacket seemed rigid/hard. Enter the Columbia Sawyers Creek Softshell. I couldn't wait to wear this jacket on the water. Started out around 65 degrees on the water and we made an hour long run for a Redfish tournament. Perfect jacket for the cool breeze and occasional water spray. The fit is perfect. I'm 6 ft tall and about 200 lbs. The XL was a perfect fit. I'm very happy with this jacket and can't wait to wear it during the winter time... there's plenty of room to layer-up and it's still comfortable. May 19, 2011
awesome coat really lightweight coat ... great fit ... it's awesome March 20, 2011
Great I've noticed with other jackets if I step from outside to a heated house or car, I'd have to take my jacket off, but not with this, it just keeps you warm, but never too warm. If it becomes extremely cold out I will trow a fleece on under this great jacket!! December 26, 2010
