Silver Ridge Convertible Pants I lovr to hike in these pants. They are light, comfortable, durable and dry in a hurry. In my opinion there are no better pants for hikers. May 22, 2013
Quality has suffered. Purchased two pair Columbia convertible pants in 2009. Since then, I have searched high and low in various sporting goods and clothing stores to no avail for something that matched those excellent pants. I wore those convertibles 12 mos. per year (winter in AZ), almost every day. I took them on three trips to Australia and wore them exclusively. I still have one pair left, but wanted one or two more.Took a chance on-line and ordered one pair from Columbia. I will wear them around the house but they do not come close to matching the quality that Columbia used to sell. They are baggy, have a riveted front button which will not stand the test of time, and only one zippered cargo pocket. The "original" convertibles had two zippered rear pockets, and a zippered key pocket. Unlike the new pair, they fit comfortably, and were slimmer in the legs. My "originals" wore like iron. I'll have to see how long these last, but I know I won't wear them as often.Will have to search for other makes in the future. Columbia quality has suffered, probably due to increased costs to make them like they used to. For what they cost me, I am not satisfied. May 13, 2013
Great These pants are not only tough but they are lightweight enough to be comfortable in hot weather. The only issue I have had is that some of the stitching has worn out on the seat of the pants. Overall an excellent pair of pants. May 12, 2013
Good but... The first pair arrived with a defective seem in the rear just below the waist line. Columbia was great about returning them and even refunded my original shipping cost and sent me a new pair with free 2-day shipping. The new pair are free of defects but are a bit too snug in the crotch so if you order these get a size larger than you normally wear. Otherwise I like them. I like the zipper pocket on the left side rather than the velcro flap pocket on the right. They would be perfect if they had a zipper on the lower leg to make removing them easier when you take the legs off. May 6, 2013
Great for hot sun I live in the Caribbean and I bought my first pair of these on a trip to FL. They fit great and were comfortable but really I bought that pair because they were on sale. I just bought another pair full price because I love these so much. They breathe so well I have yet to zip off the legs and wear as shorts. I find they are very cool as long pants. I wear them boating, to the beach, and hiking. I find they repel splashes well and they dry fast.How much do I love them? I wear them all day and sleep in them at night. These are the best warm weather pants out there. I have not tried them in cold. I would go a size up if you plan to layer them. They are athletic cut and I find they fit very true to size. Great lightweight pack pants. They do come with a nylon belt. I wish I had these when we hiked the Camino de Santiago. They will certainly be my go-to hiking pants. I do a lot of adventure travel.Please note that the Abyss color is a dark navy. Thought I was getting black but I like the navy. I guess it makes more sense as an Abyss would be dark blue. Just mentioning for anyone that sees the picture and thinks they are black. May 6, 2013
Perfect, Versatile Travel Pants I've bought these pants three years in a row for my middle school-aged son to wear on class trips to Utah, Italy and Spain. Each trip has happened at that point in the spring where it is impossible to know whether the weather will be hot or cold on any given day. He says the pants are super comfortable, and he loves that they can turn into shorts. I love that they dry quickly, pack easily and are wrinkle-resistant. April 26, 2013
Men's Airgill Convertible Pants Love the pants but I have two recommendations. The belt clasp releases too quickly with certain motions. In addition, on the models without belt loops and with belt sleeve, the belt retracts into the sleeve during washing and it's very difficult to retrieve. April 23, 2013
Great Convertables These are comfortable and very versatile pants. They run a bit snug, would prefer to have pleated pants, but they look crisp and neat wash after wash.One zip cargo pocket and one flap with velcro - would be quite an improvement with two zipped pockets. Likewise two back pockets with flaps and velcro, no zippers.A bit pricey and rarely found on sale.All in all, I love them and bought six pairs, it's all I wear. April 22, 2013
Does more than expected We travel extensively, and Columbia's product are just perfect. They clean easily, no ironing, and look good. Fit as described. Here's a real plus: I spilled bleach on a pant leg, and it washed off, no stain nor discoloration. Can't say it will always work, but do attest it did once. And they look like new! April 18, 2013
Everyday Use Living in Colorado I have found these pants to be so functional that I have adopted them for everyday use. I use them for backpacking, flyfishing (bottom portion come off easily for wading),hiking, and day to day activities. Thier ability to dry so fast are also a a great additonal feature. Good item, but runs small. I have bought Columbia convertible pants in past - size 38 x 32 and they fit fine. This pair for some reason ran small. I like the elastic strips in the waist since this usually accomodates my waist size. But this pair fell short. April 8, 2013

A little long....sloooooow shipping I bought a pair of these from Amazon and I liked them so much I wanted another pair, but Amazon was sold out. The pair I bought from here was a little longer than the other pair I have, but still usable. Expect slooooooow shipping. Almost 10 days to get the pants. Really? 2013 and it takes that long? Colour Guide, Shipping, Overall Experience Buying experience: Bought 1st pair (fossil) at local store. Fit great 38-30. Wanted 2nd pair (grey) but store did not have my colour so ordered online. Surprise! 38-30 was too tight (go figure). Returned and ordered 40-30, perfect fit.Colour guide: Cute names but what do they mean? Abyss is black, tusk is brown, gravel is greenish, peatmoss is green, grill is grey (beautiful), fossil is beige (classy).Shipping & Returns: ships from Oregon. Very dependable and efficient. Price is reasonable. Returns are easy. However, if you are returning pants from say, Florida expect to pay $20 for ground shipping. Estimate other states accordiingly.Costomer Service: Excellent. Could be roomier I bought these because of the color and the more conventional cargo pants. The construction and is great and I love the color. However, I find the fit a little lacking in the crotch/rise -- these are definitely something you would primarily wear for only outdoor activies, the fit is too snug for putting stuff in the pockets. Terrific for cyclists I love these pants for cycling; in cool weather, they keep your legs just warm enough without overheating. In warmer weather, you just unzip the legs a bit or take them off entirely. They are incredibly practical for a daily commute.My two quibbles: the colors have cute names that leave you guessing. Gravel, for example, is actually dark green and not really gray, after all. And not all colors are available in the most popular sizes. Great travel pants I recently took a pair of these convertible pants on a trip to Australia and New Zealand. They were absolutely great. Comfortable as pants or shorts and great in the heat. I wore them on excursions and also wore them to a couple of casual dinners. Lightweight and sturdy, yet extremely comfortable. When converted to shorts the length is comfortable without being too long. I liked them so well I purchased a new pair in a different color for the next few trips. February 21, 2013

Great pants, but why so long? Just got these pants in the mail and tried them on - they felt great and fit great everywhere except the legs were about an inch or two too long. I've had older versions of these pants that fit perfect in this length, so I don't get why the leg length is so variable. And it' not because we shrink as we age - we shrink from the spine far more than the hips or knees. Otherwise great pants for all season wear. January 23, 2013

Fits very well and comfort This is my first convertable pant, I chose it based on it puts two additional pockets on the sides, not on the front, and one of them has zipper (I wish both has zipper). After I received it and tried it on, I found it fits me very well and looks good too, the only two things I was concerned were it is not waterproof and the material is not thick enough. But when I went to a trip at end of Oct. I decided to bring the pant along. When I put the pant on at temperature at lower 60 degree F I found it is still OK, that's a surprise. December 1, 2012

Great I have been trying to find the right fit on this pants for a while, seems that they come a little tight on he crotch and short on inseam, also waist is a little on the edge. I got the last pair one size larger on both waist an inseam, they fit perfect. This is an excellent creation from this people. November 25, 2012
Nice traveling pants I'm 5" 8", 150lbs, athletic build. Normally fit pant waist30-32 and 30 on this fits perfect. I like how the shorts are not baggy on the bottom like most other shorts. If you have thighs like "King Kong", it may be tight. This have both zippered and Velcro pockets. The zippered ones to prevent things from falling out and Velcro pockets for easy access. CARGO Pant This is a practical pant that can be turned into a pair of shorts by quickly unzipping the pants above the knee. It dries quickly and can be easily washed by hand. Used for Traveling and Hiking I am a woman who prefers my hiking & traveling pants to fit just at the waist and have found that the Men's Hiking pants fit me best. I usually wear a size 4 Petit but for some reason the Men's sizes fit me best. I have told my friends about this and now three of my friends are also buying Men's Hiking Pants. Holes in Pockets This is my 3rd pair of these shorts (2nd convertible pair). I like the way they fit, but the first 2 pair have the problem that the rear pockets loose their stitching and my stuff falls out. This also happened to my front pocket on one pair. Very annoying. Otherwise the fit is good and less bulky than other cargo pants. The fabric is great and fast drying. It would be nice to have a zipper on the bottom of the pant legs so that I could zip them onto the shorts without having to take off my boots. November 1, 2012

Love the removable sleeves so they can become shorts.I like them as sweatpants, camping pants - they have a bunch of pockets as well for little things you may want to have access to but don't want to feel in the pocket area...Good for a hike, a run, a bike ride, even tennis in the colder months. Good, but The pants are comfortable, light weight, easy enough to put on and off when they're full length, if you're wearing shoes. But, zippers down the pants legs would make it easier to convert the pants without taking off hinking boots or hi-top sneakers. I use the pants, mainly, in urban environments, such as for playing tennis or golf when the weather starts off chilly but then heats up, and for being able to pack light when going to other cities. That may not be Columbia's target use, but they're very handy for me.Be careful with the leg zippers; it is easy to jam them. Above all, be careful about spilling anything on the pants, including water. The temporary stain will be -very- visible and can be embarrassing. October 8, 2012
Glad they are back! Bought a couple pairs of these (with the elastic waist and belt loops) several years ago and loved them...traveled all over the world and they kept asking for more. Then, they were dropped from the inventory and I couldn't find anything similar. Tried others but just not the same. Now that these are back, I'll buy a couple more. Gravel Silver Ridge Pant Great pair of pants for hiking and trekking around outdoors. The pants do run a bit small, they were tight around my thighs and usually size 30 pants run a little bit big on me. Also, the website shows gravel to be a grey color, but it is definitely more of a green when you get it. Other than that, nice well made pair of pants. September 24, 2012

How to measure
- Neck: Measure at the base or thickest part of your neck.
- Chest/Bust: Measure at the fullest part of the chest, under the armpits and over the shoulder blades, keeping the tape measure firm and level.
- Waist: Measure around natural waistline, allowing tape measure to sit comfortably.
- Sleeves: Start at the center back of your neck and measure across the shoulder to the elbow and down to the the wrist. Round up to the next even number.
- Inseam: Measure from the top of the interior leg to the bottom of the ankle.
