Excellent rain shell pants! These rain shell pants are perfect for medium heavy rain. They compact down very small, are very durable, and are very easy to get on and off over your other pants and hiking boots. I love the pocket access to the inner pants but I wish they had some velcro to keep the pocket closed. I highly recommend this product! May 8, 2012
Is great product Excellent service and product April 26, 2012
good entry level rain pants This rain pants work well for their purpose: an entry level rain outer shell. They easily fit over other pants and work well as a light barrier from the rain in a decent rainfall. I got these pants to wear as a shell over my other gear for sporting events during either warm up or after an event. They fit big, I'm normally between a S and M and the medium's feel like parachute pants and the small's feel like a regular medium. Also there are pockets on them which makes it easy to get into pants underneath, however; the pockets are more or less just slits in the pants that can't be sealed so rain can easily get in there and they catch on stuff easy. The other rain pants with a velcro attachment for the pockets would be a nicier upgrade and feature. April 11, 2012
Rain pants For someone 5'-10" they were pretty long for a regular inseam. There was a "short" version but we would never have thought to go with the "short" at 5'-10". Better long than short so we are OK with what we have. March 13, 2012
Not bad but.... Functional pant which fits well over jeans or sweat pants. The only problem I have is that I ordered these pants in a short inseam but when trying them on they were as long as a regular (inseam is about 33 inches). Not a short inseam at all. Not too happy with that result.... February 20, 2012
Not a versatile product Although this product arrived quickly and in good condition, the rain pants were not suitable for my cyclist son and daughter-in-law. If the design was just a bit more flexible in being able to adjust the velcro at the ankles, the pants would have been just fine. As they are, they are of no use to a cyclist, and we have returned both pairs. January 1, 2012
Singing in the Rain The Thunderstorm Rain Pants II are all that I expected.....comfortable, breathable, easy to move about and very functional. I always look for Columbia for outdoor gear and recommend the products to my friends...there is a lot of Columbia under the Xmas tree this year. December 20, 2011
Very good when it is NOT raining Very good pants when it is NOT raining!! The pants works fine except during rain!! Why? Because of friction. If you use them only during walks it's okay. If you use them with a bike, due to the friction with the bike seat, water enters and you get wet in that area. Not very confortable if you then face an entire day of work. I do not recommend this pants to anyone who might want to use them with a bike. November 29, 2011
Zippers on the pant legs For this type of packable pant, zippers on the pant leg are very helpful. This enables the wearer to pull out the pants, and put them on over boots or shoes, easily when the weather changes. November 24, 2011
Did the job on a rainy day I spent a Saturday as a spectator at a very wet football game, and with my new pants, I stayed dry the whole time! November 22, 2011
Just too darn big I had to order online to get the short size, but even the short size is a good three inches too large on my inseam (30" - not tall, but not particularly short). I had to return them.Otherwise, they seemed perfectly reasonable. November 1, 2011
So far, so good I have a difficult time finding specialty pants that fit me. I was happy to find these that fit just right. I've only had one occasion to wear them but they did the job. October 28, 2011
Great pants but they are a little too long I purchased these pants for rainy and snowy days at the lakefront. The pass through pockets are terrible. They caused the pants to fill up with air on a windy day. They need to have velcro on them. Water got into the pants too. They are really long. October 20, 2011
Pass-Through Pockets Are Terrible These pants have great material and good cut (I am 6'4" and wear a mens large). However, the pass-through pockets are a disaster if you get caught in real rain for anything beyond about a half-hour. For instance, hiking through heavy rain for about 2 hours means you will have a river of water running down the outside of each leg. Spectacularly stupid design. At least put a zipper on them (or remove them). Completely ruins an otherwise good set of gear. August 15, 2011
Great Rain Slacks I am quite short so the pants ran a little long in the inseam, but I knew that when I bought them. I use them for bike riding when it rains. They are great! August 1, 2011
Pass through pockets The concept of pass through pockets is a great idea as long as you're not in the RAIN , I wore these rain pants on a fishing trip to Ontario, when the rains came every thing stayed dry except the outside of both legs where the rain passed through the "pass through pockets", ugh cold and wet. June 20, 2011
Awesome rain pants Light, packable, perfect for that unexpected rain storm. February 16, 2011
Great For Golf I am very happy with these pants. I like the "pass-through" pockets. I use the pants for golf in wet or cold conditions. They are not bulky and they keep me warm and dry. January 30, 2011
Perfect for us versatile for sailing and skiing Just what we needed, my son and daughter wear them over their sweats(or her yoga pants) for skiing and then can take them off in the lodge and hang in their sweats. These pants protect against wind and wetness. Also perfect for fouls weather sailing, light enough to wear over shorts. They don't have pockets but have slits for where the pockets are which is perfect because they line up to where the pockets are on the shorts or sweats which we wear underneath. Your hand goes through the slits to your pockets in what your wearing underneath. As a matter of fact my son is wearing them today over his sweats for sled riding. January 16, 2011
NO POCKETS material is good. I got these pants, and took them home, put them on and wore them to my football game (I officiate football). I went to put a flag in my pocket and it fell to my feet. These pants don't have pocket liners to keep stuff in! Very dissapointed. The material is great, I'll just have to deal with not having the pocket, but they are great to have in the rain and snow as an outer layer. October 28, 2010
GOOD ALL AROUND THESE ARE NOT ONLY GOOD FOR WET WEATHER BUT ARE GREAT WINDBREAKERS AS WELL AND THE CUT AND FIT IS WELL DESIGNED. October 21, 2010
Nice biking pants I bought these to carry in my backpack when I'm commuting in my bike and it might rain. They pack very small, which I think is great.I bought a pair of medium pants although I use small, and I wear them over my clothes and can put them on quickly October 20, 2010
Not recommended for people of average height The pants just arrived but are way too long. I'm 5'10" and these pants run well over 32" and swim on me. Unfortunately I'll have to return them. Overall they appear to be well made. I looked for another model as a replacement but all seem to be the same length. October 14, 2010
Excellent Pants for Any Use! I always seem to get caught in the rain on my ATV so I scooped up some of these pants with the matching top to throw on my ATV for some of those rides in the rain. These things work so good! My entire body was completely dry after at 15 minute downpour while we were on the ride. The best thing about it, was that I stayed cool at the same time. Even though they were not designed for this task, they worked very well. So good in fact that I put them on and took them for a ride on my motorcycle. Impressive performance. The adjustable leg and arm bands let me tighten it up around my boots and gloves and I was completely dry after a 20 minute commute in the rain. I did buy the suit one size bigger so that it could go over any clothes that I had on and that works very well. August 16, 2010
Saved me from a miserably cold day My son was participating in a track and field event when a thunderstorm peered its ugly head. I had these pants in my pack so I put them on before it hit. The event continued for another 30 minutes but I was warm and dry the whole time. Many parents came by to ask where I purchased them so they could be prepared the next time too. I've been in their shoes before during soccer and cross country events, but now I don't have to worry about the weather. Plan on reviewing them again after the next snowstorm to see how they work as an additional outside layer when I have to shovel the driveway. April 26, 2010
Very Good Rain Pants!!! These rain pants are very comfortable, they run a bit long but I ordered a large and I am only 5'7" so go figure. Overall, an outstanding product, I have the jacket to match and together they are quite the combination. February 15, 2010
