Exceeded expectations I bought the khaki(?) version of this hat for a vacation in the Philippines. I'm very susceptible to sunburn and basal cell so it is necessary to find a product that protects my bald head, neck and face. The existing product description wasn't clear on how 'one-size fits all' (my head is size 7.5 and I've learned to be skeptical about sizing) but it's due to the use of a barrel clasp on a thin bungee-like cord in the headband. Works great. There is a breathable mesh band that goes all around the hat. It was packed flat in a suitcase and it emerged ready to go. April 25, 2012
Great hat! I bought an older model of this hat for myself about 10-12 years ago. It's still in great shape and works really well. Now I have kids (ages 1 1/2 - almost 5) and needed sun hats for them, as we live in Colorado. I had bought cheaper hats for them over the years but found that I needed to buy a new hat each year. So, I found the youth version of this hat last year and bought 2 in the hopes that I wouldn't have to buy hats for a few years. This year I needed a 3rd one due to my youngest getting old enough to wear it now, so I looked, but apparently the youth version has been discontinued. I bought this hat for my oldest, hoping that the cinch in the back would tighten it enough to keep it on his head and I hope to not buy another hat for a long time. It's great! Great Hat I was recently told by my Doctor to cover my ears & nose better as I spend alot of time in the sun. I looked around for a hat that did that & was capable of being worn in & on the water and wouldn't be too hot in the summer. I found the perfect hat. February 9, 2012
Happy in Hawaii 2 I bought this hat for a 2 week vacation in Hawaii. It packed easily, wears comfortably, it looks like a cool tropical hat should (how stylish can a booney hat be?) and most important, it kept the sun off my neck, ears, face and nose. Perfect Hat Purchased for trip to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji later this year thus I haven't worn it yet. It fits well, appears to be of excellent quality and the cord strap will be functional. Columbia has great service! I ordered 2 hats as gifts for Christmas. I had originally tried another store, only to get a phone call 2 days later to let me know the item was not in stock. With less than 2 weeks before the big day, I was certain this would not be the year for hats. I searched and found what I was looking for right away on Columbia. According to the shipping agreement, I did not think my package would arrive until the Wednesday (or so) before Christmas. It was there within 3 days!! Liked my first one so much... I kept the same hat in the back of my GoldWing for those sunny daytime stops to walk around and stretch my legs. When a snake got into the trunk (don't know how, or where it is now) it ruined the hat by rubbing on it to shed it's skin. I purposefully looked for this exact hat to replace the original. One size does NOT fit all I read so many reviews stating how well this hat fits and how great it looks. I was very disappointed when I got mine. The hat only comes in one size. I guess my head is smaller than the general population because this hat was HUGE on me. I looked like I borrowed my daddy's hat. I looked goofy in it. Sure, it kept the sun off of me and was breathable, but it covered my whole head! I wish it was offered in sizes for an average woman's head. October 19, 2011

lik this hat a lot very lightweight. dries pretty quick. great protection from the sun. breathes well with mesh.doesn't offer much rain protection but that's fine and it probably can keep you dry in a quick passing sprinkle. decent list price, really nice deal if you can find it under $20 September 26, 2011
The first and only hat I've found that fits! I have a pretty big head and was worried that this hat wouldn't fit me. I had the chance to try it on at the Columbia Sportswear downtown and it fits, so I went ahead and bought it. For those of you who don't regularly wear hats in the outside sun and heat, TRY THIS HAT! The protection from the sun's rays and heat are well worth the price of this hat, especially if you have a large head (though for people will smaller heads, there's an adjustable elastic cable that runs around the hat, making it adjustable). Wide-brim, lots of shade I bought this hat after meeting it in person. It's great. It's wide-brimmed (giving lots of shade), light weight, water resistant, foldable (so it takes up little space when packed), and durable (survived dog mauling).All that and it looks good and is well priced. What more could you ask for?Oh it has a nifty feature, around the base of the dome on either side there are fabric panels so you can fasten things to the brim 'balcony'. I guess these are for fishing lures, but I can imagine other practical applications for these fabric d-ring equivalents. August 26, 2011
Great sun hat Just what I was looking for, a hat to wear on the beach and in my convertible that gives more coverage than a baseball cap--this is working very well, fit can be adjusted easily and the hat is comfortable and light on the head--brim is fairly rigid, which is what I wanted, not too rigid but keeps its shape in the wind for the most part--would recommend it. Air Conditioning for the head I use this hat for my construction projects in the hottest parts of the summer here in Texas. Those projects involve the construction of galvanized steel liquid storage tanks. The amount of heat and reflection from these tanks can be severe. I use the hat to keep most of the sun from my face, neck, and shoulders. It helps tremendously. When things get too hot, I make a trip to the water jug and pour a small amount inside the headband and let it soak in a moment. Once I put it back on, it feels like steeping out of the heat into an air conditioned room. It will stay that way for around 15 minutes on 100 degree days which are generally 15 to 20 degrees hotter on the steel. I usually do not write reviews for anything, but I have had this hat for a few years no and it looks like it has been worked in but there is not a stitch out of place. August 8, 2011

Great Fishing Hat I purchased this hat as a way to escape the sun while fishing. From that standpoint the hat was just great.The only problem was the plastic clasp that holds the sizing cord to the right size did not hold. It seems to be defective. However, since I was headed to the Flambeau River in northern Wisconsin for a week of musky and small-mouth fishing, I used safety pins to take care of that problem.I will return the hat and request a replacement. Solar Car Team Our Solar Car team uses the hats at competitions. This past week, we spent 5 days outside at Texas Motor Speedway in 100 heat during bright, sunny days. Couldn't be happier! I tried several other hats before finding this one. They were all either too stiff, too hot, too big,etc. This hat is perfect for me. LOVE the mesh, but not the color. Great fit with the adjustable cord/toggle at back to snug up the fit around your head. Also very comfortable with the mesh venting to allow airflow during the hottest days. Kept me comfortable on day w/108 heat index (well, kept my head comfortable anyway; not much hope for the rest of me).Would prefer the mesh was the same color as the rest of the hat, but the mesh is black no matter what color hat you choose (was listed in description; I knew what I was getting). All in all a great hat; would give 5 stars all around except I’m not crazy about the two-tone of the mesh venting. Would definitely purchase again for long hot days of working in the garden. great hat I love this hat! So far I've used it just to walk around town, but I live in a very sunny place with lots of heat (and, often, wind) in summer. This hat is just what I needed: it's adjustable, so even though it seemed a bit big at first, I cinched the cord in back and it fits fine; the chin strap holds the hat on my head in our gusty winds; the venting near the top allows air to circulate, keeping my head cool and dry; and the brim is wide enough to shademy face. It's a very cute hat, as well! Can't wait to try it out hiking and travelling -- I'm sure it will be great. July 9, 2011
Nice had but color "bleeds" Its a comfortable and effective hat for being out in the sun for prolonged periods of time. Only real drawback is the black mess bleeds when wet and stained a shirts. Wash before wearing! July 6, 2011

Great hat! This is my favorite hat. I have had one for 4 years, and I just bought another as a backup. I am very fair-skinned, so I need a hat that will give a lot of sun protection without getting too hot. The chin strap keeps it firmly in place even in fierce winds. You can fold or roll it up; you don't have to baby this hat. It travels well and washes well. I fold it up and keep it in my daypack when it is not on my head, and although the brim gets wavy over time it still looks great and gives a lot of protection. June 28, 2011

great product this hat is by far the best ive used, this is my second one of these ive bought, loved the first one so much got another. i work outside in the Arizona sun all day this things a lifesaver. only thing to be are of is the actual colors of the hat are different in person, sage was not as dark as pictures, ended up being more of a turtle green, fossil was a tad bit lighter more like tan almost. otherwise zero complaints, i have a big head and these hats fit me on the largest setting May 22, 2011
