Women's Reach the Peak™ Down Jacket 4.4 5 42 42
Really Stylish Reach the Peak Down jacket is really cut nicely--fitted through the waist and long enough to cover your behind so overall it keeps your core toasty. At first the coat seemed too roomy and the arms too long. But after I washed it and ran it through the dryer, it shrunk a bit and fits perfectly. I am 5'7" and 122 lbs and the medium fits well--snug enough to look nice but still enough room underneath to wear a thin fleece or a few light layers. The gray color is really sleek and an eye-catching change from regular, old black. My one complaint is that after washing it there is a lot of thread unravelling from the inner lining. The exterior of the coat looks fine but I question the quality of the fabrication since this pulled thread happened after only one wash. June 4, 2012
I Love it! Light and really warm and looks fabulous.Love the fit and the look. April 28, 2012
Solid Coat The product was what I expected. It was warm, and not very bulky. April 15, 2012
Lite Weight, Slim & Warm This XS jacket is very fitted (I am 5'3" & 125lbs) and just what I was hoping for---slim, not puffy, yet warm & light weight. Love the black/steel combination. Good sized pockets for hands but quite slim so not ideal for phone, keys, etc.Have not worn in the rain so haven't experienced what others have commented about getting jacket wet. H.e i am wearing with Cosmo Contessa Softshell Jacket (which layers perfectly over RTP) so not overly concerned about wet weather. April 8, 2012
Nice Jacket Like the features but the size is kinda big and long for me. I wear XS but this jacket is too loose for me; I prefer my winter jacket as body hugging. Also, the jacket is much lighter than I expected, it's totally different than the one I had bought from Columbia few months ago. Same 700 fill-power down but this one is much thinner. Still not sure if it can keep me warm in the cold winter day but I like the feature of Omni-Heat. April 6, 2012
LOVE IT True to size, warm & light as a feather. I hate bulky winter coats & this coat is anything but that. Perfect! March 27, 2012
Great Warm Jacket I got this jacket for my girlfriend because I was tired of her always stealing my warm jacket and leaving me cold whenever we went backpacking. Now she won't stop wearing this one. She loves it. Definitely order 1 size up. Overall, it's a great jacket and is super warm. March 25, 2012
Warm, yet... This fits kinda snug, if I wear anything bulky it's difficult to get zipped. I wore it when it was about 25 and windy, and I stayed warm. Rain just rolls off it - in a dash from car to house. Still comfortable in 50-ish weather. Bad thing about it - feathers poke out of it from the seams - sometimes just a few, sometimes a lot. This needs to get fixed!! March 11, 2012
light and warm Normally i dont write a review but the jacket i bought for my mom and my parent in law are so light and warm that i want to get one for myself too. Great jacket. March 7, 2012
Lightweight and warm This jacket keeps me very warm, despite how lightweight it is. It is very comfortable. The sleeves were a bit too long but it doesn't bother me. March 7, 2012
too small! I am typically a xs or a small (with a very tiny bust) and ordered a small initially. It was way too tight, so I went with a medium. It is better, but still more snug than I would like. I think it is the only piece of clothing I own that is a size medium, which to me says plenty on how well they are sizing this product. Otherwise I really like the coat, and the 'adriatic' color is beautiful :) February 4, 2012
toasty hot!! the time i opened it from the package, i put it on my laps and try to remove the tags so i can try on. before i finished removing all tag, my laps already felt sweating!! i loved it!! if columbia carried another sales event soon, i'll definity get one of each for my whole family!! i loved it!! February 2, 2012
Warm and stylish! I love this jacket! I live in freezing Chicago, and this jacket feels light but is very warm. It's also a bit longer and has a feminine shape, which is much more flattering than the down jackets that can look so boxy. Very happy with it! January 31, 2012
Down jacket I returned this because I didn't like the snap pockets and there were no interior pocket. January 30, 2012
Excellent light weight jacket also likes the little pouch that comes with it. Put on the jacket in the cold morning, and fold it away in that pouch to carry. Very convenient and good idea. January 13, 2012
Love this jacket I admit, I was a skeptic. If it is so thin, how can it be warm ? I grew up with the original big puffy down coats..... And I wanted a leaner, sleeker look. This was perfect. I still look like a girl, and I am warm in the hilly DC area temperatures. The small was a little too tight an I wear a 4-6 but a medium is perfect. The sleeves a long which is nice. January 12, 2012
Great Jacket and Great Fit I was on the fence for buying the Size Small but was definitely glad I did. I typically wear a size 6, so I was a little nervous. This jacket fits great and contours to the body which is nice in outerwear. I read most people complained about the arms being too long, but I really liked the little extra length as I could slink my hands in because I forgot my mittens. This jacket was great for around town in the cold Northwest Christmas (I'm sure it would be great for even colder weather in my home town of Anchorage, AK) , and was great for my mid layer skiing at Crystal Mountain. The only thing I wish was different would be that the pockets zipped instead of snapped, and that their was an inside pocket with a zipper. January 8, 2012
amazing coat When I got the coat out of the bag I was a little concerned with how thin the coat. Living in Chicago, winters are very cold. I’m used to having huge bulky, puffy coats that don’t allow for much movement. Then I decided to try the coat on and go out in to the cold. I was shocked that the coat was warm. I am very happy with the coat, its warm, light weight, and stylish. January 7, 2012
Love my new jacket First time I've bought something online from Columbia - I guessed on the size and it fits perfect. I'm 5'4" - 130 and I ordered a Medium. Sleeves are longer - which I love. Pockets are big. It's light weight, warm and functional. Great on cold days to run the kids to practice, school, etc. Love it! January 5, 2012
Good until wet My girlfriend says the jacket is extremely warm, but one day after being rained on the jacket got wet. Water soaked right through it onto her arms, and the Omni-Heat shield actually peeled off. Pieces of the small shiny discs were stuck to her arm.Opening the jacket there are big patches of the shield that have completely come off. Not the best quality, and absolutely no water resistance.Big oversight from Columbia in my opinion. January 4, 2012
Great jacket and customer service for fixing my mistake. First class costumer service. I found it at a great price before X-mas but I ordered the wrong size. I called costumer service and they told me to return it and they would give me credit and they I can go and order it online again. My concern was that I would not get it at the same discount. So, I called costumer service and I was talking to a person. They solved the problem over the phone in a matter of minutes. I didn't have to go back to the website, I din't have to enter discount code. The agent was great, courteous and pleasant person to talk too.Now for the jacket. It's very light down jacket. Wife loves it. The only thing is If you go to the size chart and pick a your size then go one size larger. Just my recommendation.I would recommend this jacket and buying from Columbia website. January 3, 2012
Warm as advertised Take this with a grain since I've only had this jacket a week or so, but it's plenty cold here (and a little damp) and I've been warm and toasty in this jacket. I definitely notice more wind resistance over my other coats. Great for cold dry weather.Wish it had zippered pockets instead of snaps, but I can live with it. January 2, 2012
It is flat clothes. It is flat clothes and comes a lot of feather in sewing lines.Do not swollen. What should I do swollen my jacketI....30-minute thrash with a stick.I want to see fuller.. December 29, 2011
good looking and warm My wife really likes it. It's nicely fitted, the arms are longer, but work in the cold. The down and Omniheat has, so far, kept her cozy. I'm not sure this will be the ultimate coat for deep winter when its below freezing. The quality is good, the snaps on the packets look slightly flimsy, but we shall see. The coat is shedding feathers, so far about 10 in the past 3 weeks. In the end for deep winter, we'll probably have to get one of those long down coats, or winter parkas. But this one is stylish, warmish, and "cute." December 28, 2011
Excellent Jacket Bought this for my mom which she loves. It's thinner than it looks in the photos but it is much warmer than you would expect. Money well spent in my opinion. November 27, 2011
Great Jacket!! LOVE IT!! Great jacket! Great quality. Perfect, not to puffy, can add layers underneath for really cold days, exactly what I was looking for. November 25, 2011
snug comfort This is the jacket I've been looking for for a long time. I wish the sizing were better. The medium sleeves are perfect (I am a 10/12). The body was so narrow, I could barely zip it. The large is better but the sleeves are long. Someone should check the sizing. September 17, 2011
I've finally found the perfect down jacket! Over the past 2-3 years I have tried on dozens of down jackets. I'm only 5'9" but I find most down jackets in this style are too short in the body, too short in the arms, or both. BUT, not so with the Reach the Peak jacket! It's a slightly longer cut that will keep my waist covered if I move, but it is still short enough and light enough that I will layer it under my shell jacket for skiing. I will also wear the jacket on it's own for day-to-day use and sitting around cold arenas watching my kids play hockey or speed-skate. I really like the nice long arms with cozy inner cuffs, and I find the cut of the jacket really flattering. I am 175 lbs and bought a size L. The size M fit as well, but while the snugger fit looked nice, I wanted a bit more room to layer a sweater or fleece underneath so I went for the looser fit. The Elderberry colour is gorgeous. Thanks Columbia, my search is over! June 15, 2011
attractive winter choice The pros: extremely lightweight and very warm for its weight, slim non-bulky lookThe cons: arms are extremely long, requires layering for days below freezing, no inner pocket, sometimes loses feathers. This is a great choice for cold days, not my top choice for freezing ones. I love that it doesn't have a hood. It looks great. I would have given this five stars except that I have been on the search for that truly attractive yet warm non-layering winter coat. If that's what you are looking for, this is not it. February 21, 2011
Awesome jacket It is an awesome jacket, fits just perfect with one minus- missing thumbhole which would have kept the arms warmer when it's snug with the thumbhole. The omni-heat does not seem to live up to its reputation. I do feel some chill when I wear something thin underneath. That's the purpose of omni-heat, not having to bulk yourself up with thick sweater or thermal shirts to stay warm. I'd love a coat with a great insulation so I can wear just thin long sleeved shirt and stay warm underneath omni-heat jacket. Overall, this is a great coat and light weight. February 7, 2011
Nice except that the seams leak feathers The Jacket is warm and the fit is good, but the seams let the down and dander (or dust) from the down seep through. Because the Down pops through it makes the jacket always seem dusty and I'm constantly wiping it and dusting it. Wish the seams were made better. tighter seems. February 5, 2011
Great jacket, just one complaint It doesn't have the thumbholes the website says it does! This was noted in another review, but after trying it on at the store I decided that was OK. Fantastic lightweight jacket, perfect on it's own in the lower above zero temps or layered up in below zero temps. Put a wool baselayer and a fleece under it and you're toasty down to -30. I'm especially smallest with the stuff sack it comes with; perfect for traveling or when you're on the trail!Suggestions I might make to improve this product: more pockets (I'd love an inside, zippered pocket), armpit vents (the jacket doesn't breathe very well), and the missing thumb holes (or at least the removal of said feature from the product description on the website and jacket tags).Definitely a great jacket! February 1, 2011
Love this Jacket!!! I am a 6 petite and a bit larger on top, and the fit was perfect! The arms are a little long, but it works. I was a bit concerned when I opened the box and felt how lightweight and thin the jacket was, but NOT disappointed at all. I am impressed how warm and wind proof this jacket really is. Yesterday was windy and in the mid 20s and I put the jacket to the test sledding with my boys and I NEVER got cold or felt the wind. I get cold easy and did not want the bulkness of a puffy down that I currently have layered over layers of clothes. I also like the placement of the pull cord in the pockets to tighten the jacket around the hip area. This is an AMAZING jacket and I love it! January 29, 2011
Love it! I can not say enough wonderful things about this jacket. Honestly, I was a little skeptical such a lightweight thin jacket could keep me warm on a cold winter day in Chicago. I thought this would be more of an autumn jacket for those crispy evenings. However, it's been snowy January 19, 2011
Two words! TOO SMALL! However, my mom who is way more petite than I am says she loves it. Since I could not wear it I noticed it looks great on her. She says it keeps her very warm and it's light in weight. Mom sometimes wears the jacket in the house! One, because she's alaways cold and two dad controls the thermostat. She said she loves it and I love her too. So in the end I am glad she's happy. Merry Christmas Mom! Otherwise, I would have loved it.. And yes I saw the measurements and still thought it would have fit me.. A "little" snugg under the pits. January 10, 2011
Warmest Jacket ever I can never find a jacket/coat that would keep me warm until now. This down jacket/coat is awesome. I'm so warm, sometimes too warm but I rather be warm than cold. Can't go wrong with this one! January 8, 2011
awe.some. I love this jacket. Fits wonderfully, super warm, flattering, low profile. Because of the great length (hits just below hip) It wears wonderfully with a baby carrier (front and back). I live in Montana and it is cold. I wear it every day. January 1, 2011
Warmth minus the puff I was skeptical that this lightweight jacket would be as warm as the advertisements promised. So skeptical I wore it outside on several different days before I cut the tags off and I don't regret cutting them off one bit. Today was a cold and windy day (20deg/10-15mph) in Chicago and I pulled this on over a lightweight sweater and it held up to both the wind and the cold. I also love the fact that it stuffs it into a small bag so it will be great for travel or backpacking. January 1, 2011
Incredibly Lightweight and Warm Truly loved this jacket. Very easy to move in-great for running or just walking around town. I was amazed at how warm the jacket kept me while the material was so lightweight. Comes with a drag bag-can fit easily into a gym bag or purse. December 21, 2010
Love this coat! I bought this coat in hopes that the omni heat feature would work wonders and I have not been disappointed. I want a full bodysuit made of it because I feel no wind or chill where the coat covers. It's not bulky and i can move freely in it. Great investment! December 17, 2010
Great jacket - Could use a couple of improvements This past week has been brutally cold in western North Carolina. I couldn't have asked for better weather to test out the jacket.I am 5'2'' and I like my outdoor clothes on the loose side. The jacket is a small which turns out to be perfect. It fits well but there is still room for a heavy base layer and a standard fleece jacket, if needed. I don't care how warm the jacket is; I still need to layer on a winter day hike. The jacket is lightweight and slim, which takes up less space in my backpack. The last few days, I've been out in 12 degree weather and I don't want to think about the wind chill factor. The jacket has performed well. It's warm and comfortable. It looks sharp. Two problems. The jacket pockets close with snaps instead of zippers. Why do the men's version have zippers? The jacket should have an inner pocket to protect my hiking map. December 15, 2010
Warmth and Style I very much like this jacket. It is fabulously warm without the bulk one would expect. The detailing is very nice...flattering stitching lines, extra length in the arms, just the right amount of down, height of collar is excellent, overall length is perfect, walkisnap pockets instead of zippers. My only complaints are there are no thumb holes in the cuff as advertised and the armhole seam is a little too close. It should be cut a little wider in front so it won't interfere with forward movement. November 17, 2010
