Men’s Ultimate ROC™ Pant 3.8 5 67 67
Ultimate ROC Not as good as the older Rockport which these replaced. The fit is fine but the style, feel, and comfort are not as good. These feel cheaper. They are not terrible but I loved the old style and would like to see it back. May 9, 2012
Nice pant - but too baggy and wide in the leg I know an active pant should be a little relaxed to allow for freedom of movement, but the leg of this pant runs too wide for me. There's too much fabric swishing around and draping around my legs. Cut almost like beach pants or something - I just want a regular, straight cut.. Otherwise, nice pant - comfortable fabric. ROC Pants comfortable, easy to clean March 30, 2012
A shadow of the former product Add me to the growing number of people who greatly preferred the previous version of these pants. I have two pairs of these that I ordered over the internet. The original ROC's are my favorite work pants. Nothing about these is as good or better than the older version. I will not be purchasing any more of these and I'll give the ones I have to charity. March 26, 2012
Quality product I'm glad trying Columbia products. All can say is... quality and design makes an item great. March 7, 2012
Very comfortable These pants were very comfortable and looked good. March 3, 2012
New and not improved design I bought these pants to replace an existing pair which wore out after many uses. These were great pants. This new version took out a couple of features which stood out as differentiators for my older pair. 1. Extra belt loops in the back to your pants don't sag 2. Velcro closures for the back pocket for security The new version does not have these but the pants are still comfortable and somewhat functional February 29, 2012
Great Pants! I bought these to wear as comfortable, semi-casual dress pants at work, but also to wear outside on hikes, and around the house. They're really a great, multi-functional pair of pants. I have a bit of a gut, and weigh right at 220, 6'1. The size 36 fits me just in the way that's not tight, but also doesn't slide down my chicken legs. a 34 would've been too tight I think, so I made a good choice. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase! February 24, 2012
Everyday Pants. As my title says, I wear these nearly every day. At the office, yard work, nice restaurants, you name it- they look great. Not only do they look great, but they fit and feel great too. The pockets on these are nice. I like the open-top back pockets and the right front pocket has what I call my cell phone keeper (it keeps a cell phone upright in the pocket). It works good for a pocket change organizer too, especially if you have a touch screen phone and don't want coins rubbing against the screen should you decide not to put it in the "keeper". There's also a nice zipper pocket on the right thigh. I don't like putting heavy items in it (it bumps your knee while you're walking), but it works great for folded documents, ID's, or maybe a small lightweight wallet. Another great feature is the stain repellant. I'm a dad of four- liquids just bead up and roll right off. February 11, 2012
Great Pants but.... These are great everyday pants for almost all uses. They fit slightly loose but not baggy. Rear pockets have velcro closures that hold contents securely. Zipper pocket on front for added security. The only negative is the additional leg pocket. It is almost on the back of the leg and it is so narrow I cant get my hand inside it. The only practical use for this pocket is to carry a carpenters wood ruler. This used to be a larger pocket that was located more on the front of the pants and was actually useful. If Columbia goes back to that pocket, these would be 5 star pants. February 3, 2012
Old ROC better The ultimate ROC aren't as good as the original ROC pants. I hope they bring back the old design and fabric. January 30, 2012
Excellent fit! Bought these online for my husband after having no luck finding his size in a local store. Love the fit, as they are not too long waisted! Only complaint is that they don't come in black. January 11, 2012
High quality pants, runs large These pants are very high quality. It is apparent when you wear them that they would last a while in the outdoors. I normally wear a 34 waist, 32 length in pants but for me, 32/30 fit right. They are about 2 inches big on the length and waist for some reason. January 2, 2012
Disappointed I had a pair of regular ROC pants for two years. Had to toss them because I simply wore them out. They were wonderful. Then I went to replace them at Dicks and saw the Ultimate version on sale. Hmm... The fabric is lighter and not as comfy (for me) and the length shrunk a full 2 inches the first time I put them through the laundry. Now completely unusable and un-returnable. I just threw 50 bucks down the toilet. December 23, 2011
Adventure pants Comfortable fit, but slightly larger than the same size in other brands that I wear. The cuffs also flare out a bit too much for my liking. Maybe to accomodate larger hiking boots. Decent water resistance. I feel like I could wear these in any season. November 28, 2011
Love this pant Great for casual wear on day off or business casual. Wish it had come in a 31" waist because the 30" is too small and the 32" is too big. Cost me an extra $20 to have them altered. November 16, 2011
Don't Like the Redesign My original Ultimate ROCs are my favorite pair of pants ever. The first pair I bought are faded and I recently had to replace the zipper, but that just shows how unwilling I am to part with them. Just bought a pair the other day, noting a few differences in the store but not realizing such a major redesign had occurred. The fabric, fit (lower rise), and rear pockets are all different. The fabric feels very cheap compared to the old design and after sitting for only a few hours at work, I had those ridiculous bunches of wrinkles at the top of both legs that you usually only expect from linen. Very disappointed in these pants. Columbia touts the new design as an improvement but my impression it it was nothing but cost-cutting at work. Won't buy another pair of these. November 16, 2011
Long Enough! Well made pants and they came in long lengths thank goodness! November 16, 2011
Love them - run large I have a pair of these and a pair of Griphoist. I love both of them, BUT...the Rocs run a bit large in the waist, but not enough to bother. The Griphoist were a perfect fit. I miss the extra zip side pocket on the Roc (though they have a zip pocket just above the knee. I find that pocket not as convenient as the one on the Griphoist which is behind the right side pocket. I enjoy the side pockets because I travel a lot and they are more secure. If I were to choose, I'd take the Griphoist, but do like the Rocs. One other comparison. I ordered 2 pairs of the Lander pant - but they were WAY larger than either the Rocs or the Griphoist. November 8, 2011
ROC Pants These are the best fitting and most comfortable pants. November 2, 2011
ROC pants...not bad So the fit and the pants in general are fantastic. Unfortunately, the snap button on top will not stay snapped/closed, so I basically walk around all day with my pants unbuttoned. Aside from that, they couldn't be better. Maybe a design flaw, or just a hardware malfunction, but either way, this should be looked in to and fixed so others don't wind up with the same problem. They would have gotten 5 stars had this not been an issue. November 1, 2011
Overall a good pair of pants Pants are very comfortable and lightweight. I will say that the side zipper pocket is a bit annoying due to it being right on the knee. The other side pocket is a bit strange considering I haven’t found anything to put in it yet. Material wicks water which is very nice. Pants fit a bit large, both length and waist, but overall a great pair of pants. Great for outdoors and casual wear. October 28, 2011
Like how the pants fit, but sizing is inconsistent I took a chance ordering online when I figured I took a 35 waist because the story only had 36 in stock and they were about 1" too big. Before they arrived I found 35's in the store and they fit perfect, but the pair ordered online were to big (about 35.5") The lower pockets are a bit useless for anything heavy, like a cell phone. Anything heavy in the low pockets just flap around. Also, there is no small pocket for change! What's with that? After all that is said, I like the pants and will continue to wear them. They are very comfortable and cool. I hope they wear well. October 1, 2011
Always ready Nice pants. September 5, 2011
Very poor button/snap/closure design No offense...but Columbia REALLY needs to go back to the older but proven button-through-the-sewn-eye closure at the front of the waist band, and abandon their recent trend of experimenting with different varieties of snap closures. These simply do not stay closed unless you are doing nothing but standing still or sitting...no matter what your build is. I have stopped buying these pants until they fix this design flaw. The problem is...the older ones are my favorites! August 20, 2011
Perfect Once again, Columbia did not disappoint. My first pair of Ultimate ROC pants, and I doubt they will be my last. Lightweight, very comfortable and can be worn in a nice setting or casual and travel. Which is what I will be wearing them for. I got the suede color and they will go with any outfit. Fit perfect and are exactly as described. Love 'em! August 18, 2011
Just what the Dr. ordered!! hands down my favorite pair of Columbia trousers-lightweight, excellent colour, very versatile addition to the wardrobe. Delighted!! August 17, 2011
wrong label I bought this pants size 32x34. When I measured it was 34.5x34. Send it back to exchange, had to pay myself $11 for mailing the returning item. There is no exchange program, so had to by new pair. I am waiting for it now. August 3, 2011
Love these pants! comfort!!!!! What a pleasure to wear. June 6, 2011
Old style much better Old style ROC pants much better all the way around. Have owned 4 pair and am sad they went backward with the redesign.... May 17, 2011
Worn out after one day of wear Purchased three pairs of these at one time for my husband who walks outdoors monitoring conservation property, but who also has to look neat enough to go into business offices. Unfortunately, after wearing for just one day's wear, I noticed that the crotch of the pants was already wearing and piling badly. I chalked it up to it being just that pair...then the other two proved to have the same wear pattern...again after just one wash. I'm glad these pants weren't any more expensive than they were or I'd be rethinking my favorable opinion of most things Columbia. May 15, 2011
easy to wear... Comfortable pants! I have them in most every color. Suitable for my casual office environment or on the street. The cell phone pocket is a nice feature. The zipper thigh pocket is a little weird since it positions contents right on your knee. I would like to see a gusseted crotch for greater range of movement but, they are pretty nice as is. All in all these pants are pretty nice. I wear them often... May 6, 2011
Redesign These pants are OK, but the old style (found at the outlet store) are much better. They had a tighter weave, flaps on the back pocket, and were a little "dressier" than the new ones. Right leg pocket is cheaper made on the new style, too. May 5, 2011
Great pants, but a little long in the leg... I've worn these twice, and so far so good, but not as good as the Steadfast in the size department. As for the pants themselves, not bad. I live in the tropics, and these are about the lightest cotton canvas one can wear comfortably here. Lots of pocket room, but beware; the right side mid-leg pocket will place whatever you slide in there just above your knee. May 4, 2011
Bad button design These pants are great except for one horrible problem the button will unbutton unless you wear a belt all the time very annoying but skip that fact and I have no issues light weight is great for summer time wear when I want something cooler than jeans or the original roc pants I wear. April 29, 2011
Needs better durability I really like that the pants look business casual yet still have thick belt loops and all of the pockets that these pants have. I wear a hand gun, cuffs, a badge, credentials, an extra magazine, and a phone every day as part of the job so it is very handy to have all of the pockets. I also like how comfortable the pants are. Unfortunately, however, the material is not as durable as I would like it to be. I have have had a small tear just above one of the back pockets from carrying too much weight (my wallet). I would like to see columbia sacrifice some level of comfort for better durability while maintaining a look which can be passed off as business casual. April 29, 2011
Extreme conditions I am a newspaper reporter and part-time teacher. I bought two pairs of Ultimate ROC pants to wear while teaching a college class. Last night our class was interrupted by a tornado warning after which I returned to work and was assigned to go back out and photograph storm damage. After hours of splashing through puddles and pouring rain, I returned to the office and found my pants had repelled most of the water and my feet were dry (thanks to waterproof hiking boots). The Omni-Shield Advanced repellency really works even after a couple of washes. These pants look nice enough for business casual and can hold up in extreme conditions. April 26, 2011
Men's ROC P:ant While I believe these are a pretty well made product, I am not happy at all with the fit. The waist runs at least 1-2 inches larger than stated while the hip and thigh area are tighter than they should be. The inseam seems OK but with the waist so large it is difficult to find where they should ride to fit OK. I like the fabric quite well along with the pockets and other features. I don't know if I would be able to recommend this product to others like I would with the other Columbia products I have purchased. Somewhat disappointed. April 15, 2011
Relaxed and Comfortable These pants were just as I expected from seeing them in stores ... light and comfortable. I read a review which stated they ran long in the inseam and they probably do slightly. I've enjoyed wearing Columbia for years and am sure these pants won't disappoint. April 10, 2011
Nice pants they run large These are great pants but run at least 1/2 size large. April 4, 2011
Great Pants These are some of the most comfortable pants. I ussually wear shorts all the time just because of comfort. I give nothing up in comfort when I wear these. March 17, 2011
Ultimata ROC Pant Great fit - Great pants March 10, 2011
Feels gOOd I currently own 2 pair of the same size same color and at least one pair another color in this type of Columbia pant. I wear them everyday whether I am at work or not. I am tempted to buy a few more today. That is why I am on the website. March 9, 2011
Awesome product! I have always worn the original ROC pant for many years, but I have started wearing these and haven't looked back. The material is super soft yet very durable. This is a great pant! March 7, 2011
Loose back pockets I do like these pants, but I thought the original ROC pant was better. The back pockets are super loose. I like the way the pant is longer and the bottom falls over my shoes. The side zipper pocket puts my wallet right on my knee. February 4, 2011
Not what I expected! The cut wasn't the best for a man my size and the material felt cheap. I returned them. February 1, 2011
Great Pants I was hesitant at first to buy these pants because of the price and some of the other reviews, but I bought 2 pairs right before christmas and am very glad I did. I didn't realize this at first, but these pants are very water resistant. Not to say you wont get wet, but for an example, We just had a freak snow storm in SC twice since christmas and I rolled around in the snow for about an hour each time and the sweats I was wearing underneath for insulation never got wet. January 11, 2011
Comfortable, nice, but so long for length Great comfort. Solid colors and feel. But just wanted to warn anyone that you should go down a size for inseam. I wear a 32/30 in every pair of pants. I got a 32/30 here and they are so long. I measured the inseam at 31" but it feels more like a 32" when compared with any other pants. Hey Columbia, what's going on here? Why can't your 30" inseam match the rest of the industry? And for me, a average 5'9 male, you don't have any pants shorter than your 30" inseam which is still 2" too long for me. January 9, 2011
Use to LOVE...butt I used to LOVE these pants. I purchased these pants about a month ago from a local outdoor sports store. I wore then about 3-5 days a week for work. When I say "work", I'm not talking about something physical, but mostly sitting in a car, sitting talking to people, and sitting in an office. Within a month, the seat on these pants split horizontally. If they were a poor fit, I would expect the split to happen vertically. As it is the rip looks like the pants have been shredded and it follows the fabric texture. Hope you see the pun in the title. January 1, 2011
Love these pants I was a bit hesitant to order pants online but so glad I did get a couple pairs of these. I own the original ROC pants and rarely wear them since they just don't feel as good as some of the other pants I own. Up until now my REI slickrock pant were my favorite. These Ultimate ROCs feel tough. THey have very comfortable stitching on the pockets which makes you want to have your hands in your pockets all day. The snap is a welcome feature for anyone who looses sewn-on buttons like I do. Belt loops are super durable. Attractive embroidery on the rear. Feel tough and look good and are my new favorite. Cons are the cell phone pocket is not large enough for smart phones. December 30, 2010
