Great Jacket but runs small
I am a college student and I bought this jacket for its versatility. It's great for rainy days as well as blustery or snowy days. I read the reviews about it being small so I ordered a bigger size. I'm a 14 (L), I ordered a 16-18 (XL), and it's still quite tight. I'd say order a size up if you're a curvy lady, just in case. The large would definitely not have fit me. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this jacket!

Very warm
The jacket is perfect for cold weather, it´s super warm!! I wore it for a trip to Europe during the winter and I wasn´t cold at all. The only disadvantage is that the neck part was too long, so I couldn´t zip it all the way up because it was larger than my neck. Also, the hood was too small and wasn´t warm, it was only useful for a rainy day, but not also a cold one because if I was wearing a hat to keep me warm, the hood would´t fit on top of it.

Warm but sizes are odd
Product is amazing! However, it's the fit that could use some improvement. I tried on a Med in the store (which I'm usually a Small/Med) and the jacket left no room to move around. I ended up ordering a Large but have to pull the drawstings in about an inch on both sides. I love how warm the jacket is I just wish the fit was better.

Me wife loves it.
My wife picked this one and couldn't be more happier. It blocks the wind and thermal tech keep her warm even without wearing the outer shell.

Great ski jacket
Was very warm. Is a heavy jacket. Don't know what you call it but the wrist sleeve which has a thumb hole is too tight to put on and off. Nice pockets and hood. Some people commented on how nice the plaid red was. I usually take a size xs but I took small since I layer for the cold.

Great Jacket
I get a lot of compliments for this jacket! Although the Cherrybomb color isn't as bright as I'd expected (color online looks darker than actual), it's still an attractive and cute, yet does not scream loud, bright plaid cherry red color.
The second jacket is very easy to remove and put back on. It can be done under a minute! I often wear the white insulated jacket alone, and it has kept me warm. The Omni-heat feature for this jacket is excellent; Definitely keeps you warm and toasty in the winter.
The cuff that loops on the hands is really nice and often complimented by people, although it is a little tight. I just pull them down when the loops get tight between my thumbs and 2nd fingers.
Whenever I wear the two layers together, I couldn't feel more protected and warm against snow, wind and rain. It also doesn't look bulky. The price is so worth it. You get two functional and multi-purpose jackets and a cute design to boot!
I'm 5'3 and 110 lbs. and I got the Small. It's a great fit.
I gave the Whirlibird Interchange Jacket four starts instead of five because I'd expected a darker red color, like what it looks on the web site. But apart from that minor flaw, this jacket is excellent and I highly recommend it!

Excellent Jacket
The Women's Whirlibird interchange jacket is wonderful. Keeps you very warm in the snow and when its windy. I never had a better jacket and the best part is that this jacket they're 2 jackets in 1. Would reccomend to anyone. I wear size small and the size fit is perfect. Quality is 100%. Can't beat Columbia.

Awesome
I'm a college student...so it gets really cold on campus and rains a decent amount. Thus, this jacket is perfect for any weather. I never get too hot nor too cold in it. It is also not big or bulky and is stylish. It may be expensive, but trust me, it is WORTH every penny. I just love the 3-in-1. I cannot tell you how much I love it and am so glad that I got it! I got the pink color and it is so pretty and everyone loves it. The enter part of the jacket is like a dark redish/brown and matches well with all my other clothes! Overall, if you want something for all kinds of weather....BUY THIS PRODUCT!

Skiing & Various Other Purposes
I mostly bought this jacket for skiing and though mother nature hasn't been cooperating much in New England this year I've been able to take it to the slopes once. It kept me super warm (it was about 30F & sunny with wind) on the slopes when worn all together. I especially love that I have the option to remove a layer (liner) if I need less warmth.
It has plenty of pockets and places to stash things. I LOVE the liner's sleeve snow guards that loop over my thumbs. I also love that hand pockets are lined with flannel. I also love how stylish the liner layer is -- I often wear it on my work commute when a wool coat just won't cut it.
Overall great quality. If you're not trying one on in the store, I suggest going up a size and they run small.

Love my new jacket
I looked for new rain/snow jacket for a while and found this one.
Omni-heat really works!! It keeps you warm yet not sweaty. The hood is big enough to cover my face in rain.
I usually wear size 4 or 6 and small fits great. I don't have any problem with wearing long sleeve shirts in it.

love it!
I live in Maryland but was going to be traveling to Canada for a field trip with my daughter's school. The weather was forecast for -14 with wind gusts of up to 25mph, and I owned nothing that was made for that kind of weather. I bought the Columbia whirlibird after reading ratings and have to say I was not disappointed. I also purchased the Omni-heat gloves. The coat and gloves both worked great in the cold, windy weather. The only thing I wasn't pleased with was the inside coat wasn't the same color as it appeared, it's a yellow/green but patterned and it didn't look that way in the website picture. Regardless, I was very happy with my purchase and would definitely recomend the product to friends.

Perfect warm coat for city dwellers and vegans!
It's very difficult to find a warm winter coat that isn't made with any animal products (down, wool, fur) and that's why I'm so in love with Omni-Heat!
I wear a size 8 or 10, which is what the size chart says is equivalent to a medium. The sleeves felt too short and the chest and even neck (when zipped over face) felt too tight. I reordered a size large and it fits perfectly.
I mostly wear it to walk my dogs in the blizzards of Chicago and occasionally sledding. If I ever tried to climb a mountain, I'd feel confident wearing it for that as well.

Comfy & Multi-purposeful
When I first put it on, it was perfect. I am 5'3 and petite, and this was one of the first jackets to fit me perfectly. I loved the snow guards, they also kept my palms warm as well. There were so many pockets that I was able to stash my phone, ipod, sunglasses, gloves, keys, headphones, and wallet without anything poking me or bulging out of the jacket. It is very warm, but I never felt too hot or too cold, and I believe that it was the omni-heat technology that they had in the jacket, it just reflected my body heat so that I wouldnt overheat, or get too cold. It is waterproof in the rain, and snow, it also kept the wind out. There are a few adjustable cords and velcro pieces that can help adjust the jacket more to your liking and fit. I plan to use it as my winter jacket, snowboarding jacket, as well as using the outer shell for rainy days. I would highly recomend this jacket. It is my first time purchasing a Colombia jacket, but it won't be my last. :)

Awesome!
I've needed a new winter weather jacket for years. I get cold pretty easily, so when my dad recommended the omni-heat technology (he has the shoes), I had to try the jacket. So far, so GREAT. I love it. It's warm and cute and durable, and I'm going to have it for a long time.

Although the coat was a little snug, The quality of the coat is perfect. I usually go with basic black and took a step out of the comfort zone and tried the red and Love it!

Perfect winter coat
I absolutely love my coat. I used it right away during a cold mountain weekend when we got hit with snow. It kept me toasty warm. I also used it during snow tubing and had flexibility to move around. Only downside is I cannot wear the inner jacket and the large coat together if I am wearing a sweater. There is not enough room. However, wear layered t-shirts and you are plenty warm.

Great Price, Great Product
I bought this coat for my trip up north for the holiday season. We were attending a Patriots Football Game on Christmas Eve and I needed a jacket that would keep me warm. After reviewing 3 in 1 jackets from multiple companies I decided on the Whirlibird Cherry Bomb Plaid. My FAVORITE feature are the thumb holes. I HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone.

Best jacket ever!
This jacket is, hands down, the best outdoor jacket I have ever owned. It meets my needs perfectly. I'm a photographer, so when I'm outdoors in the cold, I'm often not moving much. I also have Raynauds, so when I get cold (that can happen in the grocery store!), my fingers turn totally white and numb, and I can't feel the button on the camera! So I really need warmth and this jacket does it. The feather-weight liner is wonderful on its own -- I use it to walk the dog in the early morning and I live at the beach in San Diego, mornings are usually in the 40's in the winter -- I LOVE the thumb holes which are really almost half gloves. I LOVE the total (including sleeves) omni heat lining. And I LOVE that even the pockets have omni-heat. The outer jacket is really an insulated windbreaker, with more omni heat in the body -- it's not very warm on its own. Together they are wonderful and will be great with layers in colder weather.
I had tried on the X-large in a store (on sale) and loved the black plaid, but it was just too large, so I ordered a large from Columbia and it is not bulky on me (5'8", 145 lb) though I would normally order a medium. This will have room for a compression layer and a good sweater. It's PERFECT.

Diasppointed
I normally wear a medium, but this coat is just too small in the shoulders. There is no way I could hold a pair of ski poles while wearing it. I'm going to have to return it. The large will be too big in other areas. The color is also not what I expected from the picture on the website.

Great coat
Ordered this coat for skiing. Went out recently and the temp was 10 degrees. Kept me nice and toasty. I had tried on a small in the store and it was snug. They didn't have medium, so I ordered it online thinking it would fit perfect. However, it is still a bit snug. I would say it doesn't run true to size, but if you unzip the under arm vents it gives you more room to move. I love the quality and style.

thumb hole is inflexible for long arms! But a great jacket to stay warm nonetheless
I am 5'6' and 120 lbs and I ordered a xs. Everything fit perfectly BUT I seem to have a lot of trouble putting the jacket off and taking it off because of the constriction of the thumb hole; I wish that they were removable because they are tight on my hands and I feel like I'm ripping the liner sleeves apart everytime I jam my hand through the ends of the sleeve.
Otherwise, the jacket keeps you extremely warm and comfortable with light weight. I definitely love the omni heat technology .

Great For Cold!
I bought my coat at an outlet store in NC. When asking the salesperson about temperature ratings, he told me anything would be adequate for NC winters. I laughed and told him I lived in Iowa. He then showed me this coat as I was looking for a non-down coat. I got to test it out this week in Iowa in 10 degree weather with 40 mph wind gusts. It blocked the wind and kept me very warm. My friend coincidentally bought the same one in a different color.

Worth the money!
I was looking intently around for a jacket, I'm super picky. I am a chunky monkey so I was nervous on how it would fit. It looks great and really doesn't add any unflatteringness at all. Best investment I've ever made on a Jacket. I LOVE IT!

First Time to Ski
The coat and insulation was amazing and kept me warm and dry in 10 degree snowy conditions. It fit well but considering I normally wear a size 10 I thought this was slightly snug when wearing both pieces together considering it's sold to fit size 12-14. The shell with the liner removed is almost too large and roomy. The medium size 8-10 was too small which is why I chose the large. I recommend trying the style on in advance. I found that the coat size and fit varies by style.

Good Quality Buy
True to size! The ability to wear "3" types of jackets is wonderful. The inner jacket fits great and looks great too. For the price, this is a good jacket. I plan to use it for camping, skiing, and many other outdoor activities. It has kept me warm in sub freezing temperatures so far.

Upon Second Inspection
When I received my order I noticed a few lose threads around the cuff edges of the outer shell. This didn't bother me too much. But I've been using this jacket at least every other day for a little over three weeks now and I'm starting to see some more loose threads at the inner breast pocket of the shell, on the Columbia tag on the shell, on the hood and at the cuffs of the liner. This does concern me, and I'm watching to see if any more appear.
The versatility of the jacket is great, shell, liner, together, whatever it fixs great. The omi-heat technology is also wonderful. Even if I'm in a cold classroom just sitting taking notes the jacket warms me up pretty quickly. I also love the thumb holes though I wish the black fabric for them was slightly more stretchy. Every one is also pretty impressed by the style of it too.
A thought to make this jacket even better: double zipper on the at least the shell. It helps keep things from puffing up while seated and will help mother's everywhere stop having to yell, "Cover your chest! I don't care if you feel hot. Do it!" You can have the bottom half open to stay comfortable while keeping your chest warm for everyone's sake.

Perfect
I purchased this jacket with the intent to use it while skiing. I have since done so and have been incredibly impressed. I have used it during some rather windy and cold days (windchill in the single digits) and I was incredibly warm with just the jacket and a base layer on. I have lately been using the liner jacket with just a short-sleeve shirt on underneath and found it to be incredibly warm in 20 degree weather. I am more than pleased with its ability to keep me warm. And as a bonus, the cut onthe sides is so slimming and flattering, allowing me to keep a touch of femininity even with all my winter gear on!

Warm, comfy and looks AWESOME
I found this jacket in a store and unfortunately, they didn't have my size. I had to go out of my way to find it online because my size was sold out on most websites. I'm glad I did so because it's a GREAT jacket. I bought it specifically for my first trip to Jackson Hole, WY. Conditions: sunny and temps - mid 20's. At times I was too hot... guess the omni heating system really works! I got several compliments on the jacket. I love the pocket layout and would highly recommend this jacket.

I am very picky — And I LOVE this jacket.
I am both picky and always cold and this jacket has exceeded my expectations. This is worth the money. My mom has bought a similar Omni-heat jacket and has loved it as well.

Fabulous Jacket!!
Some others have complained about this jacket running small, but I did not find that to be an issue. I am 5'11" and normally wear large jackets. While this could be slightly longer (as could most, to fit my broad shoulders and long arms), it fits very well and still allows me to layer underneath. The Omni-Heat technology is fantastic. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

Jacket
I love this jacket! It is so warm and comfortable, I would recommend it to anyone! It's slighty, and ONLY slightly a little smaller than I expected it to be, but it still fits really well and would fit really well if I was an avid skier because generally one would want that to be snug so now snow would get it.

Not Warm Enough
I have gotten so many compliments on this coat. I have the blue plaid and it is gorgeous...however, its not as warm as they say it is. i thought it was supposed to be this new technology with that 'foil' appearance you see inside...just not as warm as i would like to be for the price.
The fit is perfect though.

This product is satisfactory
I purchased this product to replace an older Columbia called the "Convest" that I absolutely loved. I was slightly disappointed as I found this product to differ from my Convest in the following ways:
(1) Not enough padding in the jacket to make it as warm and wind resistant as my Convest
(2) Outer material not as durable as my Convest
(3) Not long enough in the back
(4) Not was roomy as my Convest (purchased same size)
I probably would've exchanged it for the bigger size however, needed to remove the tags to wear it and get the feel for it before I decided it was just a bit too snug.

Love it but WAY TOO TIGHT!
I love the look of the Whirlbird, it appears very well made and very functional but I had to return the jacket:( I wear a size 12 my other winter coat is a Large but I bought an XL thinking it would leave me room for a sweater under it but no such luck. This jacket was so tight in the arms I could hardly get it on while wearing a long sleeve t-shirt. I should have listened to the other reviews that said the same. Very disappointing!

Love this jacket! Both layers are comfortable. Love the thermal heating and the thumb holes. Keeps me warm but is breathable. Also like the colors (blue and white).
