Women’s Arcadia Rain™ Jacket – Extended Sizes 4.2 5 98 98
Not the same as in store I saw this raincoat in a store and they didn't have my size. Note that it runs small. The salesperson wrote down the product information so I could order online, which I did. I was very surprised when the coat arrived and had a white trim on the inside of the zipper. The same coat in the store did not have this and I never would have ordered the coat with this trim. I took it back to the store and they compared the coats and they have the exact same style number although they are not exactly the same. The online description needs to include this or show a picture of it. Columbia did resolve this issue to my satisfaction with no problem. May 17, 2013
Traveling both Europe and Alaska I needed a lighter weight jacket for European rains, and then an all weather jacket for Alaska that I could layer with for extreme temps. I ordered a 1x - my normal size - and the jacket was too small in the shoulder/arms area and in the abdomen/chest. The length of the sleeves and the overall jacket were also short.I returned and started reading reviews on this jacket which all seem to indicate that the jacket runs small. Based on that information, I decided to take a leap of faith and ordered way up to a 3x!Although the 3x is a tad big around the hips, the length is perfect. The sleeve length is also a tad big, but has good coverage and will work while wearing something bulky underneath.I was able to minimize the width around my hips by cinching with the cord. The shoulder/ arm area is still a little narrow, but I knew that if I ordered a 2x that I would never be able to comfortably wear a sweater or sweatshirt underneath the jacket .I love the way the hood fits, and the coverage above the forehead/eyes. I am happy with my choice. April 27, 2013
Pretty Good This is a great rain jacket. The size and length is great, hits right at the hips giving a great shape. I've worn this jacket in heavy wind and downpours and I've stayed dry and relatively warm. The one problem with this jacket is that it doesn't have any vents. On warmer days it's not breathable which makes me sweat (I hike for a living), which is sometimes uncomfortable. But overall it does what it's suppose to do. April 14, 2013
Awesome Jacket I just love this jacket. It keeps me completely dry and warm in the pouring rain. I love the style and fit too, I live in both Seattle, WA and Minnesota so something that works in all waether is great. Just put a sweatshirt or shell underneath and you are ready for the MN cold. Just take it out and you still stay warm and dry even in Seattle's heavy rain. Thanks for making a waterproof jacket in an extended size that looks and preforms great. Next test is Europe for three months - can't wait. April 7, 2013
Just what I wanted I lost my old Columbia jacket and was delighted to be able to replace it. Love the length, the velcros, and the light weight (price was nice, too). I bought a size larger than usual, after reading it ran small, and wish I had not--I found it true to size. March 31, 2013
it's a rain coat Like the color. I got the black and white. I haven't had a chance to see how it works in the rain.I got the 3x size. Wanted it to be big enough to fit another jacket or layers of clothes underneath. The top part of the jacket fits fine but the bottom of the jacket is tight against my body. To the point I may not pull the jacket down all the way while wearing. It makes it hard to zip up the jacket.Columbia has to realize that women have hips of varying sizes and need more fabric to accomadate that. I think adding an elastic trim around the bottom of the jacket would be a wonderful addition along with the extra fabric added. That way the coat will hug the body no matter what. Also I would have loved the jacket to be long enough to cover my entire backside. Right now it covers maybe half. March 26, 2013
Don't even think of getting a liner This is the only Rain Jacket I could find in my size that was not a "poncho". It is too tight of a fit around the waist, and I even ordered one size up. It will have to be a summer rain jacket, which is disappointing, since I won't be able to wear it with a liner. I need a waterproof jacket at times, I seem to only find water-resistant ones. February 13, 2013
nice jacket I thought this jacket was to thin. I was looking for something a little heavier. I returned it. February 2, 2013
Zing is Dayglo Orange Received 3X Zing Jacket today in an effort to replace a 14 year old OmniTech Jacket I love in XL that doesn't button around the waist. Best part was waist. Fit great. Sleeves are too small around. Color looks like a construction worker. Fabric is way more like plastic than my original. Going back. Sad. January 25, 2013
excellent product I am very happy with my new rain jacket. I previously had one from Columbia and it lasted me about 10 years. Happy to see the new one met my expectations. Only one small critique -- the tabs on the sleeves stick up when you have it closed all the way. I think you should just clip those off (about half the triangle) and sleeves a little long. Other than that -- GREAT!! January 14, 2013
Jacket Dosen't look the way its shown online December 19, 2012
Does not breathe well Columbia has great stuff but this product does not breathe well as advertised. When walking in the cool weather, you still sweat a lot--my Costco jacket that cost 1/3 of this product works much better. When contacting customer service service, they explained you should open the flaps or unzip the jacket for better breathing--this product was purchased so someone wouldn't have to do this. I would avoid this product if you plan on getting warm while you are using it--you will sweat underneath a lot. December 14, 2012
Arcadia Rain Jacket Here in Portland, OR I was tired of not having a good rain jacket. I got this jacket and I'm really happy with it. It fits well and is very water proof. If I was designing it I would add some flannel to the inside of the pockets so that they are soft and warm. and maybe add another inside pocket. Oh, and a key clip to one of the outer pockets too. But overall, a great jacket. December 14, 2012
It's... OK. What can I say, it's a rain jacket. The material is kinda stiff, and very light weight; it feels like it wouldn't stand up to a brush by a black berry bush, but maybe that's an illusion and it's sturdier than it appears, don't know.My biggest issue is probably with the fit. The 2X size I got is snug in the hips while being very billowy throughout the rest. I also had an issue with the hood, cinching it up didn't seem to help it stay on in the wind and rain, it only served to make it more uncomfortable for me. I've tried to wear this three times and it's just too loud (I don't mean color I mean the swish, swish when I move) and not very comfortable. I might wear it again if we have a deluge but this will probably hang in my closet even through most of the rainy days. (Instead I'll just wear my new Columbia Benton Springs fleece jacket which doesn't have a hood but when paired with a beanie has provided good weather protection so far)A note on the sizing:It bears repeating that while this is a 'womens' jacket it doesn't seem that a womans curves were taken into consideration. I practically swim in the main body of the jacket while at the same time having trouble getting the zipper started at my hips. (and my hips are proportional, not overly wide) Maybe having an adjustable waist hem would have been good. December 2, 2012
Great rain jacket! Love the waterproof capability! Water beads up and you can brush it off easily and it dries fast. November 22, 2012
Keeps me dry in Oregon rain and warm 50 degrees. Keeps me dry, love the hood and room to put fleece underneath. Perfect for Oregon weather. Zipper is a little sensitive, keeps wanting to zip over flap material in. Just take your time and it gets easier. Rating is due to zipper. Should be more than good. November 19, 2012
Runs small but worth it I ordered the Arcadia knowing that it would run a little small which it does (mainly in the waist area), but its still comfortable and not to tight even with a light sweater underneath. The material feels quality not cheap at all. It is surprisingly warm and definitely keeps the rain out which is why i bought it. November 17, 2012
Perfect Seattle Jacket! I now live in Seattle and after a year of convincing myself I didn't need a rain jacket I finally broke down and bought one. Having a large chest makes jacket buying a bit difficult which is only reason this jacket fits a big snug for me so I would recommend ladies with larger chest to size up. Also, this jacket is light so layering it is a must. It's comfortable, durable and keeps me dry in the Seattle rain. Love it! November 3, 2012
This is a really nice rain jacjet. I love this jacket. It looks nice and really does its job. I wore it yesterday in the Seattle rain and stayed nice and dry. I love the lining. You do not sweat like other rain coats and that is very, very good! The only problem I have is this...I ordered the coat in blue and they sent red! I was dissappointed as I am a Seahawk fan and wanted this jacket for the games. I sent an email about this and they said the blue was no longer avaiable and have since changed it on the web site. I am keeping it because it is such a nice jacket, just wish they had the blue I ordered. October 28, 2012
More jacket than I realized When I bought this jacket, I didn't realize that I was getting more than just a nice windbreaker. We will be traveling to Europe during Thanksgiving, and it will probably be pretty cool and rainy. I cannot believe I lucked out and got a great jacket to take with me! I've worn it several times, and it does its job; I stay dry and warm. I am very pleased and fully recommend this product. October 11, 2012
It gets the job done I have been waiting in the Portland area, where it never rains in the summer, to try this jacket I bought in July. Finally I decided the only way would be to go to Alaska. In Ketchikan, where it rains like 250 days a year, I finally got my chance. It rained hard enough to put my digital camera on the fritz. But nary a drop reached through this rain jacket. Exactly as I expected from this vendor. (BTW, about 18 hrs immersion in a bag of uncooked rice fixed the camera.) September 27, 2012
Order at least one size up! I normally wear an L /XL, but the first Arcadia jacket I ordered was an XL and it was too tight to zip up. It was pictured as a pretty soft 2-tone green on-line, but the actual color was somewhat "gawdier". I reordered and opted for a 2X so that I could get it in blue, since that color was out of stock in a 1X. The 2X ended up being not too large considering that I want some extra room underneath for layering. So, my advice would be to order at least one size larger than you normally wear. It is still warm and dry in coastal NC where I live, so I have not had the opportunity to test out the warmth or water-repellancy of the fabric, but if it functions as described, it should be the perfect 3-season jacket for this climate. September 22, 2012
Too short, but overall a good jacket. The previous reviews were correct in saying that the length of this jacket runs on the shorter side. I was slightly disappointed when I tried this on, but the quality and the color made up for what the length was lacking. I chose the pink/orange and love it!The other thing I noticed was the drawstrings on the bottom of the jacket do not stay when they are pulled tight. Would have been nice to have some sort of plug that keeps the strings synched. September 21, 2012
Ready for fall Great fit and feel of the jacket. Love the colors & lightweight, comfortable fit September 19, 2012
Awesome Buy I regularly wear 14/16, I bought a 1x and it fit perfect! Just enough room so that i can be comfortable and not so small that i cant put a hoodie under it. Jacket it great with keeping me dry in the rain (which is its purpose). July 27, 2012
Alaska adventure jacket Perfect jacket for our summer trip to Alaska - as rain jacket, wind breaker, layering jacket. Hood & zipping pockets a plus. Wish it had a pocket or two inside. Online price was reasonable compared to in store price, even when I added expedited shipping. So glad I found this jacket! July 20, 2012
good jacket All in all a good jacket. Does what it's for. Not long enough for my likeing. Other than that I like it. June 30, 2012
A true rain jacket, finally! It's great to finally find a true rain jacket that repels the really wet instead of fashion statement 'shower proof' jacket, and this one looks good too. I've only had the jacket a few days, but tried it out in a thunder storm downpour, staying completely dry as the water beaded and rolled off the jacket. I did have a bit of an issue with the hood blowing off in the wind, but if I did the jacket up to the neckline better this will likely not be such a problem. My only complaint is the length of the sleeves, I don't need to cover my hands and using the valcro cuffs makes the sleeves bunch up. June 18, 2012
Happily surprised I had been looking for a rain jacket in the stores for a long time, never finding one. All I wanted is something like a windbreaker. Where I live, it will rain, yet still be in the 80's F so something with fleece was not going to cut it. It finally occurred to me to look online and I found this jacket. It had all the features that I wanted AND it came in 3x. My first choice was the Women's Arcadia Rain Jacket in Elderberry/Rouge. Unfortunately, that color didn't come in a 3x. I settled on the Clematis Blue/Compass Blue. I fully expected to need to send it back, since a lot of the reviews said it ran small. Much to my surprise, it fit perfectly! Only slightly snug with enough room for a thick sweater underneath. The colors looked much nicer than in the online photo and the stitching is very well done. This jacket will last longer than I will, I believe! It even has a little velcro strap in the back of the hood to keep it from flapping down over your face! I highly recommend this product. Make sure you use the size chart for the jacket if you are worried about fit. June 5, 2012
Jacket Fits a little snug at hips. May 22, 2012
Great rain protection I really like this jacket--fits great and I wore it in the rain today and and protected me very well. I also like the hood--it was very helpful due to the wind you couldn't use an umbrella. May 1, 2012
Still not sure of the color I just received this yesterday in the mail and the 1X is true to size. It is not the fit I am debating over, it is the color. I ordered the green on green and it is LOUD...since I live in Houston, I didn't want to get a dark color, but I am still not sure. The plus size colors are not as nice as the smaller sizes. My daughter-in-law bought a nice green and white combo in a large and it is gorgeous. Possibly heading back for an exchange. May 1, 2012
Great Jacket Great jacket, size was spot on! April 21, 2012
Keeps me dry! Lightweight breathable rain jacket, could be a little longer... Keeping it though! April 20, 2012
Spring/Fall Must Have This is the perfect jacket for spring/fall. I was pleased with the length as well. I am 5'10" and many of my Columbia jackets are a little short but this was perfect. April 4, 2012
Nice jacket, too short and too small I wear a 2X in every-other jacket I own (though none are Columbia). I ordered the 3X based on reviews that this jacket runs small. It fit, but was tight across the shoulders and much too short. I am 5'10" tall and this is generally not a problem. The fabric was lovely to the touch and the jacket was really beautiful overall, but back it goes. March 30, 2012
Great Spring Jacket Perfect for cool spring days. Water resistant and hood is great for light rain or wind. Will be purchasing same jacket in white! March 28, 2012
I wanted to LOVE this, but it could have been a little better I went the next size up because I had read reviews that say these jackets run small. I was glad I did, and even the next size up fits a little funny. It's not snug, but it feels fitted in a way that is not quite right, but only in the hips/mid-section. Shoulders, arms and chest are fine, which is great, because that's where jackets are usually small on me. Also, I want the jacket to be a little longer, by maybe 2-3" would be enough. I'd be interested to meet the person who was the model for their designs!Another tricky issue: the upper pocket is on the inside, I guess to help protect items from water? However, the interior pocket is mesh, so the items in that pocket are more susceptible to moisture from perspiration; even though the jacket is more lightweight than previous waterproof jackets, it still traps in a lot of heat and moisture. The colors, though, were great. I got the fuscia with the red/orange highlights - very smart. The color detailing is very nice - little pops of highlight color in unexpected places. The waterproofing, so far, seems to work well. A great jacket for wearing during warmer wet weather, or with layers if it's chilly, either for outdoor recreating, or casual everyday wear. February 22, 2012
Great jacket, great price Was SO tired of trying to find big girl jackets that were actually functional and at least moderately attractive! We do a lot of camping, hiking, dog walks, beach walks, etc in the lovely Pacific NW which means it can be very wet but often not very chilly. This jacket is perfect for all these activities. Keeps me dry, the hood adjusts to work in all conditions and, since it is essentially a shell that wicks away sweat, never overheats me. When it got down into the lower 40's, I added the wicking fleece hoodie under it which worked great for keeping me warm. All in all, this is a great jacket that has more then met my needs.Got the blue on blue and get compliments on the color and did order a size up so I could pull it on easily over anything I chose.I am a happy camper! February 21, 2012
Great Jacket, Small in the Hips This is an excellent jacket, and the aqua/haze color is a nice neutral that will go with anything. Unfortunately, the jacket is cut very slim in the hips. I would suggest going one size larger, but it may not be enough depending on how you are proportioned. If there is future version of this jacket, I hope it will be better proportioned for plus sizes. January 30, 2012
Arcadia Rain Jacket My wife loves this rain jacket, very good quality. January 15, 2012
Very Happy I had looked all over for a light weight rain coat for Oregon weather. This Arcadia jacket is perfect! January 15, 2012
Great coat so far Got jacket in extended size, 2X so that I could layer and fit comfortably around hips. Jacket fits great and not too long for someone who is only 5'2". Have enjoyed it so far. Had a really rainy day yesterday and stayed totally dry :) Would have reviewed higher but have only had jacket for a couple weeks. January 12, 2012
new jackets seem to be running shorter and smaller Was excited to get a new Columbia jacket. Unfortunately, your jackets seem to be running smaller in the women's extended sizes. I do own another Columbia, from a few years ago, and it is still like new. I just thought it was time to get a different jacket. Unfortunately, not a Columbia, I guess. January 5, 2012
Perfect Light Jacket I got this jacket cause i needed something to help with the wind, living in kansas it gets preeeety windy here!! We are the windy STATE! I have a columba fleece that i love and thought about getting the double layer one, but my fleece is still fine so i thought id just get this and layer the two. Its done great so far but i still think i should have bought the other jackets that have the lining already in them. Thats ok tho, next time :) December 11, 2011
Great Buy! I did a lot of research before purchasing this product and I'm very happy with my decision. I typically wear an L or XL in tops so I was a little sad to have to purchase this jacket in a 2xl after reading other reviews that it runs small around the hips. I can barely zip it up at the hips but it fits very well all around! I purchased the Burnt Henna thinking it was more of a coral color and I was a little surprised to see how red it was once I received it but I tried it on and fell in love with it. I've received many compliments on this jacket and I keep hoping it will rain more so I can wear it! This jacket repels every drop of rain and I like the billed feature on the hood. It's not noticeable to anyone else so the jacket is still very fashionable. You will not be disappointed with this purchase just make sure you look at the sizing chart before you order it to ensure that you will not have to return it for a larger size. Enjoy! December 7, 2011
good jacket for a spring rain.. nice jacket, seems to be roomy enough if your wearing light sweaters, anthing more then it will be a tight fit. it has hidden pockets which are nice. November 30, 2011
Very pleased! This jacket is well made and attractive as well as comfortable . It is very lightweight and keeps the wind, rain, and chill out. And the feel of the material is nice. November 22, 2011
Arcadia jacket I thought for the price it would have had a lining. I froze in this jacket. I really am not at all satisfied with it. November 18, 2011
AMAZING! I LOVE this product, I was amazed the first time I put it on as it was a PERFECT fit! Also the first time I used it I was bedazzled as to how good it kept me dry and warm! November 13, 2011
