Women’s Silver Ridge™ Convertible Full Leg Pant 4.1 5 42 42
ok pants These pants are made of a perfect material for hiking, the only reason I would not recommend these pants is the zip off portion of these pants looked very award on my frame. I am 5'8" 130 lbs and ordered a 4, they fit wonderfully in the waste, but I hated the look and awkward feel of the zip off portion. December 16, 2012
The Best Technical Pants for Women! When it comes to womens technical pants I've tried them all. I'm a forest volunteer which demands a good pair of technical pants. I'm so happy to have found the Columbia's Silver Ridge Convertables (and full pants) after 10+ years of searching for comfortable/functional pants for women. I use these pants every weekend for backpacking and/or trail patrol. Nice usable pockets (womens pants usually have silly short pockets). The belt loops will accept a 1-1/2" utility belt if needby. I'm one of those who shy away from convertable pants because I find the zipper on the leg bulky and irritating in other brands, but I found the Silver Ridge convertibles to be super comfortable. I don't feel the zipper around the legs at all. The shorts are good looking and better fitting that other brand convertables. I'm tall 5' 8" and 145 lbs. I bought Size 10 Regular (Tall would be too long) and they fit like a dream with a bit of stretch to help you move across tricky terrain. The pants are really smart looking. I wear them at the office too. I love these pants so much I own six pairs of Silver Ridge pants. October 31, 2012
This product functions well in driving sand. I use these pants for work. The salt and driving sand of the Gulf Coast beach is shed well by the tight weave and other features of these zip offs. The zippers are easy to use in the field. The inner waist button was not sewed on securely and was lost as soon as I put the pants on. The snaps do, however, seem strong enough for now. I will replace the button and these pants will work great through the winter shedding wind, rain, sand and salt. They dry so quickly that any stain quickly disappears with a bit of spot cleaning, even while wearing the garment. October 2, 2012
Great summer hiking pants Long hiking pants are always a great find. I'm 5'11" and about 125, so the 4L fits perfectly. My only complaint is that they stretch out a bit during a long day (but all hiking pants do this to me!).Great, lightweight fabric and nice little side pocket for easy access for chapstick or a camera. Zip off legs work great, the rise is neither too high or low.Good job, Columbia. July 26, 2012
Convertible pants for women. Lightweight, quality fabric with good pockets and convertible feature...from pants to shorts. Well made, comfortable, water resistant and will insulate you from the cold or hot temps. Perfect for our upcoming Alaska adventure when temps will be unpredictable and weather will likely be damp. Only complaint is that the pants are a little fuller in the leg than I would like. July 24, 2012
Definitely order 1 size up These pants run a size too small, so make sure to order 1 size up. (I wish Columbia would be more consistent in their sizing among their different pants styles.) Otherwise, great hiking pants with zip-off legs. July 16, 2012
Love these pants These pants are really comfortable for hiking in. Lightweight so they can be worn when it's hot out. I don't like to wear shorts for hiking because I don't like bug bites! This is my third pair of these pants - not because they wear out. I am 5'6" and the regular length is perfect. July 8, 2012
A little small I think these pants would have been a great pair of field pants, but they run a little small in relation to what I normally wear. I had to send them back because they were too tight in the thigh and I need to be able to move around alot and squat down in the woods. They looked and felt very durable though. June 14, 2012
Lightweight and packable pants I got these for a trip to the Florida Keys, they are light, comfortable, packable, few wrinkles even straight from the suitcase. I could use them during the day to run around, and they were equally at home in the evenings going to dinner at the outdoor restaurants. They run small overall, and long in the leg. I got a "short" pair, I'm 5'6", perfect length. The reason I gave them only 4 stars is the waist on the back is too short. An extra 1" would make them much better. It's not the end of the world, I actually bought 2 of these because they are so comfortable. June 5, 2012
A higher waist would have been better. The convertible pant was of good quality. Unfortunately, I am returning it because it falls too far below my true waist and is an uncomfortable and unflattering fit that way. I purchased 2 pair of Columbia convertible pants in size small a few years ago that had a traditional true waist that was perfect for me. I would like to have the option of pants that have the traditional true waist in small, medium and large sizes rather that numbered sizes because they are more forgiving size wise. Also more petite or short sizes would be greatly appreciated. May 11, 2012
Great pant, get one size larger than your normal I was advised to buy up one size, which I did. And the pants fit perfectly. Love them! Well made, nice construction and features. Can't wait to wear them on safari May 8, 2012
Not happy When I received these pants in the mail and tried them on, I was pleased with the fit and comfort, cut the tags off and packed them for my upcoming trip. Before the end of the first day both waistband snaps had broken rendering the already loose around the waist pants even looser. For over $50 a pair I expected them to last longer than one day. The fact that I was already in Hawaii with no other alternatives didn't help matters much. April 22, 2012
Great lightweight hiking pant. I plan on using these pants/shorts for a trip coming up to Hawaii in a few months. It's lightweight moisture wicking features will come in handy in the summer months. April 7, 2012
a try on before buy Pants need to be tried on. I am 5'2 and weigh 118 (with a little more muscular legs). I ordered a four. They run a little long, the thigh area is a little snug and the waist runs too wide. I'm keeping the pants, because I know they will do well for the intended activities, but wish the fitting would have been more accurate. March 25, 2012
Poor fit and quality and condition Received this item in unopened bag, but filthy with grease or ??? stain & broken waist snap. Ordered same size as pair purchased a few years ago that fit perfectly and I love, but this new pair fit ridiculously--tight in hips & legs but huge gap in back waist. Can't believe they call it the same style! Definitely NOT up to the standard I was used to with Columbia! February 9, 2012
Great Just what I needed for my trip which will include lots of walking and unpredictable weather. I can where as pants or shorts as necessary. December 8, 2011
Fit Excellent pants for hiking, good long length with a lightly higher waste than I expected but I love them. December 7, 2011
Nice pants - poor fit This pant runs very small to size so I'll need to return them. I like the style and the fact that they are light-weight. October 31, 2011
Great Pants for Travel! Okay I know I am a bit obsessive but I absolutely love the Women's Silver Ridge Convertible Pant. I have three pairs. First of all, the colors are fabulous and go with any colored shirt. Secondly, if the weather is cool in the morning and then warms up in the afternoon - just unzip and you now have a shorts! My husband and I travel extensively and these pants are light and airy, dry quickly and hardly take up any room in the luggage. I am a size 10 (5"3") and these pants are true to size. I did take them up about one inch at the zipper. Those that sew can do this easily if need be! October 27, 2011
Neither butterflies, nor presentations. I'm so sad. These ARE flattering and comfy pants, but my results were similar to 'butterfly catcher's' - back seam stitch popped. October 27, 2011
Nice pants, too bad the fit is not the best for activewear: too form fitting in the leg but comfortable at the waist, so if I go up a size, that part will be too big. Bummer. October 14, 2011
Comfy pants - not hardcore pants While doing a butterfly lunge(bending action used while catching threatened butterflies for university research project) I seemed to have lunged too quick and the outer seam in the seat seemed to have split. Very comfy pants but not as durable as I would expect for outerwear. Really? Butterfly catching is to extreme for these pants. Well now I don't no what else to say. Good thing I wasn't studying eagles, my pants might have fallen right off. Enough with the funnies. Seriously though I expected more from field pants. September 21, 2011
Best hiking pants I just hiked S. Sisters in these pants. I was a little worried they would be too thin, but it was perfect! They were comfortable, wicked away sweat and water, and kept me warm. Great pair of versatile hiking pants! September 21, 2011
Convertible pants and shirt Both excellent for my use while on hiking trip in Glacier NP. Dry quickly, protect from wind and sun, yet remained cool despite, higher temperatures when coming down from high elevations. Would prefer button on legs for Capri length rather than the elastic pull, which tended to bind. September 2, 2011
livable pants I totally used these pants every day on my hiking trip to yellowstone. I loved how they fit, very flattering for a girl and they were the right length for a tall girl! I got the long length in a 12 for myself and i am 6'0. I was so pleased with them and can't wait to wear them again! August 24, 2011
Comfortable, outdoor pant I was looking for a cool, quick drying, comfortable pant for hiking/spending time outdoors. These pants fit the bill. I would and have already recommended them to my friends. August 18, 2011
great pair of pants excellent quality. worth the money August 8, 2011
Sweet Pants Nice fit at the waist, but a little bit long of an inseam. I'm 5'5" and the regular inseam pants have several inches of extra length, but very nice quality. July 30, 2011
Finally! I haven't worn these yet....heading to Alaska in 3 days....but I finally found hiking pants that are long (I'm 5'9") and have a non-elastic, mid rise waistband. A much more flattering fit (as flattering as hiking pants can be) that doesn't make me feel schlumpy! July 24, 2011
Fits right in all the wrong places These pants were awful. They fit below the waist. I wouldn't wear them for hiking as I prefer not to have my butt hanging out. The material was kind of rough. Very disappointed. July 22, 2011
For the Tall and Thin Got these for my daughter who is 5'11" and thin. They fit her like a glove and she LOVED them on our 4 day 3 night rafting trip. These were the only pants she took on trip and they worked very well. Legs zipped on and off easily and they dried quickly. Definite recommend for the tall and thin of any age. July 11, 2011
Very Pleased The pants are great for hiking, the material dries fast and the design is great. I like the zip off leg, its just above the knee, which is great for maintaining modesty while staying versitile. June 29, 2011
Perfection I just wore these pants canoeing/camping for 7 days in Minnesota, and can't help but write a rave review. I'm a 4/6 pant usually and the 6 fit comfortably, with plenty of room for a base layer underneath. The pants flexed and fit no matter what I was doing: canoeing, hiking, or sleeping. They dried incredibly fast after washing and the zip-offs were easy to use. Despite my lack of showers I still felt feminine. :) June 29, 2011
Best convertible pant I have owned many Columbia and other convertible pants and these are by far my favs. Although a little slimmer in the upper leg area, going a size up does not make them baggy. Material is fabulous - keeps you cool even when mountain sun. June 21, 2011
Good buy Plan to buy another pair but will have to have them and this pair I bought taken-in the waist. Waist is too big. Would be nice if they were at least a size smaller in the waist. Have worn them with a belt. Wear comfortably. April 27, 2011
Great Pants Comfy pants with a nice fit. Was glad to be able to order a pant in a Tall/Long. April 22, 2011
Perfect fit I bought these pants assuming that they wouldn't fit right and knowing that an easy return policy was available. To my surprise, they're perfect! Someone else mentioned that long slender legs don't find a happy home in traditional active pants, and I can sympathize with that. I bought my normal pant size in long and can't say a negative thing about them. I wanted to wait to write my review after I'd put them to good use, but am so delighted that these pants fit like a dream that I couldn't wait.As a side, the fossil color seems lighter in person than it did on my screen. April 7, 2011
Nice pant In order to accommodate a base layer I went up a size. Not too big w/o base layer. Great for camping and hiking. Nice stretch. April 5, 2011
Great Hiking pants! Bought these for a trip to Costa Rica. They held up great hiking throughout the country. Only downside is no larger pockets to hold items like a camera. Fit was great and very comfortable. I'm and 8-10 and purchased the 10. It was a little big. March 29, 2011
Tall dream Tall thin legs can not find hiking pants and I have been in ugly baggy ones until I found these. March 28, 2011
Great fit The fit was perfect - I ordered according to the size chart (normal size worn). The length was good for me, I'm 5'9". The color is nice and looks like it did online. Haven't gotten to wear them yet though. March 7, 2011
Great, slightly relaxed fit I just wore these pants on a 24-mile mountain trek and was thrilled with the way they fit and performed. Though I'm slender, I have slightly bulky thighs and have long been frustrated by the stiff materials and narrow cut of many other trekking pants. The lightweight material and slightly relaxed fit of these made for great maneuverability -- especially when rock-scrambling. And they held up to the beating I gave them through the brush and muck.
