A++++ What a beautiful and comfortable sneaker. March 13, 2013

Favorite Cove Palisades Trail hiking + running shoe I took a pair of these right out of the box and onto the trail at the Cove Palisades in Lake Billy Chinook (central Oregon). First off, I was impressed by the fit. These are the lightest weight hiking shoes I have purchased. After speaking with the sales person and explaining that I both run and hike on the same outting -with a CamelBak hydration pack and nothing more than my lunch in my pack- she steered me towards the Columbia Yama. The upper is very comfortable as is the footbed. There's even a special air pocket in the heel under the footbed for extra cushion. The toe box is wide enough to accommodate my feet after they've been pounding the trail for 2 and 1/2 intense running. One of my favorite points was that the collar didn't chew away at my ankles, amazing on the single track dirt trails around the lake which can leave you with raw spots. The outsole is really grippy and competent -even on loose talus, dirt and rock. The gusseted tongue kept debris out too - it's a drag to have to empty your shoes out after running through small rock and dirt. The outsole and midsole provided good traction on steep trails where loose dirt and serious elevation changes make my run/hike challenging. I need a little cushion but also appreciated the fact that these Yamas feel more like a running shoe than a traditional hiker. The mesh breathed well and I found the fit really good. My feet stayed dry too. I had adequate arch support (don't normally use inserts) and hadn't realized that I had worn them all day when I turned in for the night. A great product and surprising new trail shoe for my run/hikes. February 4, 2013

Uncomfortable! Wow! These shoes were awesome the first time I tried them on, I though I was going to love them! Everything felt like it fit right.Unfortunately, these shoes have the lack of arch support which is what I need. I wore these shoes for 4 hours and I will likely never wear them again. My feet felt numb. I was disappointed to see how flat and poorly made the insole was. I really love the outsole of the shoe, the tread is fantastic and the grip is great. This shoe could be made a lot better if it had better support, since it is a Fluid Frame shoes I was expected comfort. Instead, I ended up with a pair of shoes that I will never wear.
