Great jacket!! Love the jacket and it fits really well. I normally wear a medium but got the large for the sleeve length and in case I need to layer. Glad that I did since it is a little tapered and the medium would have been a little snug August 13, 2012
great value, great coat its all i hoped it would be August 9, 2012
great features Fits well over another fleece jacket for even more warmth.I am 130 lb so medium was fine.Bright color for fall. August 7, 2012
A wonderful find! The picture on the internet doesn't do justice to the excellent quality I discovered when it arrived! It fits perfectly, looks so nice, and I especially like the longer length because it covers everything I wear underneath. I live in an Alaskan rain forest so I'm glad it keeps the rain from me while still breathing. I think it's unusual to find shells in this beautiful color In short, I love it! July 16, 2012
Aravis shell Great shell for those who don't like short jackets. Patina color is very cute. I didn't try it in the rain yet, but so far it worked as a jacket perfectly. I had for a cool day of trail restoration and it kept me warm and cozy. And I receive a lot of compliments too. Looking forward to try it in the rainy Lake Baikal area this summer. July 5, 2012
Love this jacket I absolutely love this jacket. I bought the black one first but I have pets and the fabric really attracts the loose fur so I had to brush it daily. I decided to buy another jacket in the light blue color and it doesn't show the cat hair at all.I use the black one for winter (with a zip in) and the blue one for spring/fall. The fit is great. The black one is an XL which allows for the bulk of a zip in and the blue is a L so it's a bit more form-fitting. I'm 5'4" so they both hit at mid-thigh, which I really like because they keep my rear warm. Keeps me warm without overheating. The only thing I would change is the velco closures. Would rather have snaps. June 15, 2012
Love it. Great Quality. I am 5'5'', and 145lb. The M size fits perfect. I just buy two another Columbia Jackets. June 15, 2012
Fully functional but nothing extraordinary... Not the most exciting jacket but I have full confidence it will keep me dry. I probably wouldn't have keep it, if I hadn't gotten it on sale. As far as sizing, I am typically a medium, 5'2, 127lbs and a small fit excellent. Plenty of room for layers. May 24, 2012
Love it! This is a beautiful coat! I absolutely love it. I wore it yesterday when it was raining out and worked perfectly. The sleeves are a tad long as I am very petite, but it works with the velcro wrists. The fit is dressy/casual which is nice because I can wear it with jeans or dress pants and it still looks nice. May 23, 2012
Worked perfectly! I"m a size 12 and and a large fit me well. It would definitely be snug if I zipped in a jacket underneath it, but I wanted something that that looked nice, was waterproof, and light enough to wear during spring/summer. Yesterday, I wore it for the first time during a two hour bike ride in the rain and the mud in 60 degree weather. I stayed dry, stayed comfortable, I didn't get overheated--the fabric definitely breathed, and when I washed the jacket according to the directions it came out perfectly! I also liked the longer length and the multiple zippered pockets. I am very pleased with this jacket and bought it specifically for when I travel to the East Coast and Canada. Watch out, weather! May 13, 2012
ireland trip Great for rainy weather and wind. The outer layer tends to attract a lot of lint and dust. Other than that its function and style is great! May 11, 2012
Love this coat! Perfect coat for wet weather. Lightweight and not bulky. Love that the hood can be removed. I purchased it for all times that I am outdoors watching my children's sporting events. I love it! May 10, 2012
I love this Jacket!! All I can say is... I am so happy I went with my gut feeling and purchased this jacket! I was drawn to it because of the great reviews and cost. But once I received in the mail, I fell in love with the color - the Patina. Its a very light teal ...pastely but not too easter egg if that makes sense. The fit was perfect as well with the medium size. I have learned with most columbia clothing its pretty true to size. I am 5'6" and about 145 lbs. The jacket covers half way down my thigh, so no more wet upper legs during windy rainy days. I was impressed with the look once on and quality (NTM all the pockets!). I commute into the city using public transp and needed a jacket that was durable and yet fashionable. In addition to my walks and hiking its a great buy for me as all my needs are met. All in all an awesome jacket! I am so glad I purchased it! May 9, 2012
Quality All Purpose Shell I love how the coat fits. Yes, the sleeves are a bit long, but velcro fasteners fix the sleeve to the right length without any effort. There is also velcro along the flap covering the zipper which seemingly fastens itself once I zip the shell up. I don't have to struggle with it the way I have to with another "big name" jacket I own. The style is slimming. I chose the large size. For tops I generally wear extra large, but for jackets large is the norm for me. This shell will allow 2 layers underneath, or 1 bulky sweater. I'm tossing aside my puffy down coat in favor of this shell and layering up or down for the weather throughout the year. Some people have noted that the material is "crispy" - Yes, it makes some noise. It isn't a problem for me since I'm not going to go bird watching or stalk wild game while wearing it. May 5, 2012
All-Around Great Jacket! I've always known Columbia to be high on quality - I've owned a Bugaboo jacket for years and I've loved it! - and this Aravis is no exception! Lightweight yet warm and comfortable. I'm 5'7 so I ordered this in Large and it's perfect! Very happy that I found it! May 3, 2012
Love this jacket This jacket is everything I had hoped it would be. The shell material (as well as the construction) seems to be of very good quality. Have worn it in rain and felt ...nothing. That's a good thing. The sleeves seem a tad long; but, I am short, so my arms are probably shorter than average. Not a problem. And I like the natural "outdoor" colors ("tank"?). May 1, 2012
Perfect Length! Been looking for a raincoat that wasn't too long, as a petite 5"2, its hard to find the perfect one, this is it. I will have this coat for a long time! April 29, 2012
Crispy fabric, but nice jacket. Very crispy fabric, but I hope it will soften over time. I'm sick of my famous sporting goods brand "Rain coat" soaking me while I hike, so I'm changing to Columbia.Nice color. The chest pocket is a little smaller than I like for my camera, but it's ok for cards and cash. I like that the hand pockets are a little higher. When I sit, things in my pockets aren't in my crotch like with other coats and I don't have to stretch to reach my pockets. This is the first two way zipper that isn't a pain to zip.The hood has a visor with a firm edge that will help keep my glasses dry, but I wish it stuck out a little more.I'm 5'3", sleeves go almost to end of my fingers, but will keep my hands warm and dry. There aren't actual cuffs or any gathering in the fabric, just a narrow strap with velcro, which I really like. To shorten the sleeves, I can make the cuff area smaller with the velcro, but I prefer to roll back the sleeves since there isn't a bulky cuff.Nice coat, keeps my rear end dry. April 16, 2012
Perfect for the NW spring rains I love my new rain jacket. I got this to be prepared for the spring rains that show up during track meets. The color is bright and cheery, perfect for spring. The sleeves and length are long enough to cover a sweater or jacket if I have one on underneath. I can wear a fleece jacket with this raincoat if I need to cut the wind more. I can also wear it without the fleece and I don't get too cold or overheated. Pockets are nice and deep. Hood has a nice firm bill in front to help keep rain off the face. April 14, 2012
My Aravis Jacket I have nothing bad to say about this Jacket! It has lived up to everything is claimed to do. Light weight, waterproof, breathable, stylish, fits true to size (for me). I would have one of every color if my husband would let me! April 10, 2012
I LOVE THIS JACKET! I love this jacket! It's rainproof, stylish, and fits like a dream. I keep patting myself on the back every time I wear it! April 2, 2012
Functional Jacket to be combined with a something warm below. I bought for my girldfriend, It´s a very functional jacket that works very well to normal use. For very cold weather you obligatory have to combine with something below otherwise it´s not enought. Perfect for Fall and Spring with the cold nights, without snow. The kind of jacket is very functional. The blue color is more like a turquese with green is not real light blue. March 26, 2012
Women`s Aravis After reading some reviews that the jacket is made small i ordered a one size bigger. Sorry to say i should of order the medium. This product is made to fit your size, it is not made smaller then other company`s.If you are a medium size get medium..............the fit is perfect. i returned my jacket and got a medium ...perfect fit. March 26, 2012
Great coat for many seasons! I wore this coat mid-March in the rain, we have had many warmer days here in Chicago, really strange weather this year!I can easily see that wearing with a fleece would be a great combo and hope I can wait until next winter to experience this.Fits great - I got a large - I am usually a 12-14 but only 5'4", sleeves are a bit roomy and longer but with velcro closures at wrists, it is not an issue.Love the zip & velcro closure down the front & removable hood.I would highly recommend this coat. March 25, 2012
Unfortunate fit I loved the look of this jacket, but unfortunately the fit was just wrong. It was too small through the body, and too long in the arms. I am on the short and heavy side, but usually a size L is fine. I don't feel like an XL would be the answer because the sleeves would be way too long. I had to return the jacket. Maybe if they made this garment in Petite XL I could find a right fit. March 17, 2012
Protected from the Elements I needed something to protect me from the elements that was also stylish and I found it. I'm very happy with this jacket, yet it isn't perfect, but almost. A couple of things to consider when ordering online... it isn't as fitted around the middle as I had hoped, but I layered a wool sweater and long sleeve shirt under it in cool Spring rain and was protected and had room to move, so I was comfortable and dry. The hood protects my face, but not as much as I would've liked, for if it came out just an inch or two more, I wouldn't have to tighten the hood so much for it to stay in place. I do have long hair which could be making the difference in why the hood slowly falls back when walking with it on. In addition, I bought the brighter color, Patina, so I could wear it biking and be seen. So far so good and I've rec'd compliments on what a great color it is. I'm very happy with this jacket. March 17, 2012
Good wear, stylish and comfortable I love this coat! Light weight, yet warm. The color is very true to the online photo. The only little complaint, if you can even call it that, is the pockets. There is one on the front that is a litte awkward. Other than that, really made an excellent purchase with Columbia! March 12, 2012
A job well done This rain jacket was exactly what I was looking for. The material is comfortable and easy to move in. The hood it functional and keeps me dry. The jacket come down to about the middle of my thigh and I'm 5'6". I would recommend this to anyone looking for a sleek rain jacket. March 12, 2012
nice look but it's a little too large, so like a raincoat and I look like a fireman in it :( March 8, 2012
like the shell very much The shell is all good and water proof. Surprisingly I found it is interchangable for another parka i bought from Columbia. March 7, 2012
I love it!! This is a coool jacket that i ever bought b4 March 7, 2012
Excellent coat for rain days and non-rain days! fits perfect! It's long and kinda fashion! I like it and wear it almost every day now! March 7, 2012
Water proof & breathable - excellent jacket! I'm already familiar with Columbia quality. I have a men's Bugaboo jacket because I'm tall & the length is great. I bought two of the Aravis jackets and already tested one in the rain and water just beads off it. I am a year round cyclist (don't even own a car) and bought these jackets because they are more feminine than the Bugaboo. I was extremely happy to see the same workmanship in the Aravis shell. The fact that it is 'breathable' is a plus, because I get caught in rain and you won't sweat in this jacket. LOVE it and glad I got two in different colors. March 6, 2012
go0od i like it. good. nice color, better than the picture. March 6, 2012
Nice jacket for rainy days It is a well made jacket and don't make me look boxy. All the pockets inside and outside are very functional. this jacket is columbia's intercharge that you can zip with a fleece when temperature drop. I have a columbia fleece brought 2years ago; it perfit pair with my new jacket. I beleive I can ware this jacket for many years that meanings good purchase. March 6, 2012
Best Jacket Ever! This is the perfect jacket for the Pacific Northwest! I wear a size 12 and the Large is perfect..enough room for a sweater or vest underneath. Has a great double cover over the zipper that keeps even a driving rain out. Water-proof and very breathable. This is even more attractive than the photo indicates. Thanks, Ma Gert, for making such wonderful products! February 25, 2012
Love the style of this jacket/coat I really like this coat. Just right for those not too cool days but still need warmth. I would highly recommend it! February 22, 2012
Combined two items for a perfect solution We bought these for my mom who wanted something waterproof, warm, stylish, and in colors than an older woman would wear. She takes care of two horses in PA in the winter - cold, rain, snow, etc., and also works a full time professional office job.We bought her the Aravis Long Shell in black and Benton Springs Fleece in brick. She LOVES them. She wears them together and they meet all her requirements, including a great fit. Thank you Columbia!! February 2, 2012
material haven't used it in wet weather but it's great over a sweater, keeps you warm yet breathable. January 15, 2012
Columbia needs to learn about fit Bought this only to get a rain coat longer than the standard 27 inches. It is 30 inches long.I wear size 8 in clothes and a large or extra large in Columbia jackets. HuH?!?If Columbia would cut it's jackets with set-in sleeves that actually fit a human body, I would not need such a large size in order to be able to move my arms and I would not look like the Goodyear blimp around the middle. They could also hire a designer to design a more attractive, modern cut....see Goodyear blimp above. One step above wearing a plastic bag for water protection is all this is. January 10, 2012
Good quality ship fast I bought this for my girlfriend, it is excellent except slightly large. December 30, 2011
Great Fit This jacket has a great fit. It's also slimming for a winter jacket. It is also breathable yet warm when the winds pick up. December 30, 2011
Will do Although it is lighter than I thought it to be, the person I purchased it for was satisfied with the fit (runs small, so I went a size up). Picture was a bit misleading. Originally looking for something a tad bit warmer. December 30, 2011
Great & As Described in Product Detail Purchased as a gift for midwest college student to wear trekking across campus in the rain. The material is substantial & of good quality to protect from chilly winds & rain, yet seems light and not bulky. The fit is tailored, but generous. If I remember correctly, there was an inner zipper to attach to a Columbia inner jacket. The owner has not yet had an opportunity to wear this coat in the rain, so its performance in that environment is not yet known. However, I am confident that Columbia will not disappoint! Caution: normally a size 'L', we purchased an 'XL' in this, a Whirlibird, & 2 other jackets and they fit perfectly. So, you may want to consider getting one size bigger, too. The only thing that could possibly make this jacket better is to make it longer (just above the knee) like a mid-length trench coat to protect from beating rain hitting at an angle. The owner is 5'7", so it hits her about 5 inches above the knee, but well below the hips. Also, as with most anything else these days -- it would be nice if it was made in the U.S. This jacket along with Columbia's Whirlibird for winter weather will keep my college student warm & dry on campus! December 30, 2011
Love it!!!! Love this rain jacket, it is what it is! A perfect light rain coat. It's made well, true to size, the color is perfect, would recommend this! December 29, 2011
good good good price, good fit hahahahah December 21, 2011
Not what I wanted, but well made I wanted a softshell , warm, stylish jacket for around town. This one is Titanium- a coated/bonded nylon, and designed to have a liner zipped in for warmth. That makes it bulkier than I wanted. The fit is loose, slightly shaped. The quality is good, and it might even be more waterPROOF ( vs resistant) than the softshell. It is nice looking and seems like it would be very functional, but it just wasn't as stylish as I wanted . I returned it and got one of the long softshell jackets, which I really love. December 8, 2011
Excellent Product The women's Aravis long shell jacket is wonderful. Great fit and the quality is fantastic. December 5, 2011
keeps me dry I really like this jacket! I live in Oregon and ride my bike to work every day rain or shine. This was a great buy! November 22, 2011
Love the color but not the construction and fit I really like the Tank color, but was not impressed with the construction and fit of this jacket.I have some older Columbia jackets that are built better - snaps down the front not velcro spots. The fit on the older jackets was more generous.I wear a size 12 pants and the L was tight when zipped. I would not be able to get a sweater under the jacket and zip it up as I wished.Very disappointed, sending the jacket back. October 25, 2011
