Light and comfortable support I have only worn these shoes a few times but I am very pleased so far. I buy Columbia Mids for the support they give my ankle. I injured my ankle several years ago and now wear a brace for support. When I wear these shoes it is not always necessary to wear the brace for short outings. The support is great and the shoe is very light in weight. My only complaints would be the laces and the top edge of the shoe. The laces are made of a slippery material and it takes a couple tries to get them tight enough. I suspect the intent was to make it easy to pull the lace at the top of the shoe and have it tighten all the way down. It does in fact do this but you have to make sure to pull on the lace until you get it tied. The other thing I didn't like is the stiffness at the top of the shoe above the ankle. This may in fact be part of the support but I didn't notice in it in other Columbia Mids. February 28, 2011
Nice looking and very light! I ordered my shoes via customer service. The representative was very nice and helpful. Shipping arrived promptly! Please be advice to order a size bigger. Columbia does not keep up to true sizes. Overall i am very happy with the shoes. They look good, feel good, and serve the purpose of hiking shoes well. Highly recommended! May 19, 2012

Size not true to fit I really liked these shoes. Too bad they were WAY to small. I have 4 other pairs of similar Columbia shoes. I ordered the same size as my others. My big toe SLAMMED into the front of these new shoes! I thought it was the socks. Maybe I was retaining water. I tried on a pair of my other ones. They fit fine. Retried these...nope. Not gonna happen. I was bummed because they were so cute and warm. Order at least a half size bigger. February 4, 2012

Awesome alternative for a guy with small feet! Couldn't find a guy's hiking boot in a mens size 7 1/2, but from having had a background in women's shoe sales a long-long time ago, I knew not to give up and look over at the 'dark side.' Dark-side meaning, staying away from the obvious light colors alot of the womens hiking boots project; but the Shastalavista in 'darker' colors fit the bill, as did the fit, the comfort, the support, the tread design, the weight etc..Awesome boot. Sure I'll get alot of wear out of them. Guys, if you wear a small size, you know the stores never get more than one 7 1/2 in a run, so suck it up, maintain your masculinity and check out the 'dark side.' You may find what you've been looking for.... But don't try the high heels! December 19, 2011

Great Columbia Fit! So happy to have a pair of Columbias on my feet again! These are a replacement for another pair of Columbias which I sent back to the company and they totally stood behind their warranty!! Of course I bought another pair, because I have pretty particular feet and Columbias seem to give me the arch support I need. I also wanted a shoe that was somewhat waterproof and warm for the upcoming winter months. These are currently keeping my toes quite toasty as I type this. The only thing I'm not totally thrilled with is the color. I look forward to trying more Columbia products in the near future! November 29, 2011
tighter than I expected I have a pair of snow shoes from Columbia and really love it. When I saw the sale on this model of hiking boots and everybody gave very good recommendation, I decided to order one without going to store to try it. The shoes are really light and sturdy, yet is at least half size tighter than my snow boots. So I got to return it and wait for bigger size one to arrive. Little bit inconvenient. November 22, 2011
…now I love them! These are my first real hiking boots! It took a good 3 days to break them in, walking to and from work in San Francisco, but now I love them! I initially had a lot of rubbing on the front and back of my ankles — to the point that they felt super raw. I wore mole skin around my ankles to relieve some of the chafing and that seems to have done the trick. Took them on a short hike up the mountain today (without moleskin), and they're golden! Can't wait to wear them on my next camping trip! June 24, 2011

Better than barefoot! OMG I LOVE this shoe! I've had it for nearly a month and like it so well that I almost hate to take it off. The best part for me is that my orthotic fits in it so I get all the support I need with enough comfort in the toe box. I've used it for all my winter walking and it has been warm and dry. Easy to lace up. Easy to clean. I like it better than the shorter shoes because I feel it gives me more stability when carrying in the firewood or walking/running with the dog.
