Bright, Warm Jacket I bought this jacket for the winter time in Illinois. I hear that they are really cold because of the humidity. (I am from Utah.) I like the idea of the two separate layers put together. The thumb hole is good but the sleeve is very tight from wrist to elbow. It fits pretty snug on my hips , but I was warned by other reviews that it was on the small side. I am usually a 16-18 in women's. I think it will be great this winter. I also like the many pockets. It is VERY bright turquoise. September 9, 2012
Looks Good But Runs Small It looks like a great coat but it runs small. I ordered it as a gift for my mom in the size she normally wears. It was so snug she couldn't even zip it all the way. July 18, 2012
Love my new coat I bought this ski coat just before going to Breckenridge last week to ski. It was super warm and comfortable. Love all of the pockets and the look of the jacket. Love it! The weather a couple of days was super windy and cold and snowy...if I did not have this coat I know I would have frozen right to the chairlift! Definitely recommend!! March 8, 2012
Great jacket for the price I really like this jacket. It has served me well this ski season in the variable conditions of Washington, rain, snow, sun...I wish the body was a little more fitted and the jacket was a little longer. I love the functions of my Columbia coat although there is one issue, and its too short on my torso, that's the only problem i have with the coat, if it were any shorter i would hate it but it barely is long enough and it will do for now. February 25, 2012
Short My only complaint about this jacket is that it is short. If you are use to the longer jackets this one hits right at the waist. There are tightening cords though so that does help so that the cold doesn't come up .Many pockets and very warm. February 13, 2012
This is a great jacket. We went snowmobile riding, ziplining, and snow tubing. I wore the inside jacket the entire trip. Because of having 2 layers I switched up when I wore both layers and just one. It was great to have different options. I never got cold on my trip. Lots of pockets everywhere held all of my stuff. February 9, 2012
advid review reader so after years of never having the right coat for my new york winters I finally came across this coat after a google search for extended sizes. I probably read every review about this coat so when my trusty lil black number of four years finally had its last breath I ordered this one. I took into account what all the other women were saying about sizing and ordered a 3x being that my last one was a 1x and was a little snug in the chest. The ordering process was extremely easy the guy I spoke to was great I ordered my coat friday and by tuesday 11am it was delievered. I'm 5'2" the length of the sleeves is a little long but nothing extrememly bad, I love where it falls (below the waist of my jeans) and I even have a little extra room for the days I want to wear a thick sweater. I did not find the sleeves tight like some of the other women. Overall it's a great coat that keeps me warm and I'm happy with my purchase. February 8, 2012

Outstanding workmanship I purchased this item for a trip to Alaska in March so haven't been able to to evaluate its function but I am impressed with the workmanship. The jacket is very warm but our Florida weather is a lot warmer than Alaska's. I will be able to use this jacket in Florida also since the liner and outer shell can be separated.I had to return the jacket as it fit a bit too small. I normally wear a large so thought XL would be ok concerning previous reviews but in my case I needed the 2X. I returned the jacket and re-ordered the next size. The 2X fits perfectly and I am very pleased. February 1, 2012
Whose dimensions are Columbia designing for? I was really disappointed in this coat. I ordered what I thought would be the right size, to no avail. While this coat finally fit through the chest and shoulders, it was shapeless and too large in the midsection. I am still carrying extra baby weight, so anyone with "regular" proportions would have even more issues than I did.Also, I was disappointed in the color selection. I would have liked to see at least another option.I ended up returning this. And, yes, I DID read the return policy before I ordered, but it would have been nice for Columbia to have return shipping labels to keep the cost of shipping back returns down. January 31, 2012
Love this coat I have had 3 other Columbia jackets and my husband has been a life long Columbia owner. I have a back & neck problem and could no longer wear my old Columbia interchange jackets due to shoulder constriction and weight. This jacket is nicely weighted and roomy in the shoulders. Some people with narrow shoulders might find the shoulders too big. If you have larger shoulders, you'll love this coat. It's pretty warm and shed water better than any other jacket I have owned. Love the coat! I agree with the other reviews that indicate sizing runs small. I ended up ordering the 2XL, which under other circumstances would have been too large but this particular coat requires sizing up. That said, I love the coat! Great coat Originally I was hesitant on the purchase of this coat due to the cost. However, I bought a coat similar to this one for my husband the year prior, and saw what great product it is. With the recent tempurature drop in my area I'm glad I bought it. I have only two complaints. I wish there were more colors to choose from, and there were a lot of stray threads on the seams of the coat. Other than that this coat was perfect, and well worth the price. January 16, 2012
Love this jacket I love this jacket. When I did my research on this product the reviews said it fit small so I went a size up, but I don't think I needed to. Either way it is comfortable and kept me VERY warm on the coldest night of the season. Great Jacket I recently purchased the Whirlibird Interchange Jacket. I've purchased a jacket from Columbia 10 years ago (it still looks brand new..another great product). After 10 years of owning it I realized that it just doesn't fit the way it used to. I'm not the same size I was when I was 18 :) So I decided i'd buy the next size up. After reading everyone's review's I decided to buy 2 sizes up because I wanted to have room for a sweatshirt and to still be comfortable. It fits perfectly!! Great coat- Runs too small Very glad I read other reviews & ordered up a size! Arms are cut very narrow- I don't have "thick" arms. The cuffs on the inner jacket are very tight, too-not so bad putting on- somewhat irritating to take off...maybe they will stretch over time-love the thumb holes to keep the cuffs down. Super warm- great for WI winters...black plaid pretty- understated but not boring.Again, overall great coat- but runs smaller than ANY of my other Columbia coats. January 11, 2012

Great Quality I read a few reviews about the product before I ordered it and I must agree with some of the reviews.It is a great product especially for a plus size jacket. I do agree that the jacket is a little short, and i feel that the inner jackets sleeves are too small and restricting. Neither issue is a deal breaker in my opinion. January 8, 2012
Too big After reading all the reviews I bought this coat 2 sizes bigger then my usual size (1X) but this coat was way too big in the chest and waist. I am size 16/18 and 5'3, hopefully the 2X will fit better January 7, 2012

Whirlibird! I LOVE this coat! My only wish is that it were just slightly longer, but it's nearly perfect. I wore it to a football game on Christmas Eve in PA and it kept me so warm I had to take it off at one point. Totally worth the investment and so is everything else I've ever purchased from Columbia! Read the Reviews...ordered anyway I read the reviews around the jacket running small and the arms being too tight, but because it looked so nice, I decided to try my luck. Sadly, my experience, is similar to many others. The 3x did not fit, the arms were too tight for active activity, and the jacket is too short. It seems as if the plus size model has not been scaled correctly. I will be returning this jacket. January 4, 2012
Not Made Very well I read other reviews on this coat about the lining being to small so i orderd it bigger, 3x and I was not happy with it. It was indeed a very warm coat but I dont believe it was made for a tall person. The sleeves were not long enough and i was unable to use the thumbholes because they were not long enough in the inner lining and it was abput 2 inches shorter than the coat. The coat is to short. I did return it locally to a store so I did not have to pay for shipping which was great! January 2, 2012
Not a better jacket on the market than Columbia Brand I purchased this whirlibird for my wife for christmas . I also purchased a similar jacket for my 22 yr. old daughter at a regionaloutlet mall in Grove city, Pa. She to is thrilled with her jacket andvery satisfied with the style and color choices she had.I particulatly felt the factory Customer service rep. was very professional and helpful. I recommend but This is a warm well made jacket. I would recommend the jacket but you should take two things into consideration. The jacket stops at the upper hip. If you are looking for something to cover your backside this jacket is not for you. Also the jacket is fitted. If you want to wear a thick sweater or a sweatshirt underneath, buy a size up. The feature of the internal glove system is great! You will not go wrong with this jackt but you need to consider the length and the sizing. December 31, 2011
If it can make it in Chicago's winter it can make it ANYWHERE! I wore my coat to work today and I was very warm despite Chicago's frigid weather! I really like this coat but the sleeves are a bit tight. I believe that it is meant to be that way in order to keep the cold air out but I must admit it is a little uncomfortable the first few times you wear the coat. AWESOME!! I love this coat!! It is stylish and not bulky. It is incredibly warm which is perfect because I live in the Windy City and it is great against the wind, sleet, and snow! The hood is a little awkward and the sting that attaches one jacket and the sleeve to the other frayed but other than that I have no complaints!! I am 5'4 it fits me perfectly. Whirlibird review I bought this jacket for my wife as a Christmas present. After trying on an XL, her normal size, in a local sporting goods store, she decided she needed a 1W. After looking in several other stores and not finding the size she needed we ordered it on-line. When it arrived it was still a little small but not tight. She has not worn it out yet but is otherwise very pleased with it. I have the men's version and I can say it is very warm although it's fit is also slightly small. December 28, 2011

Great Fit and Investment! I hate ordering jackets online because I can be in between sizes. I have a 2x Columbia shell jacket and it's a little big and I didn't want to look like a carnival tent if I ordered a size bigger. So I called customer service for a more detailed description and here's the breakdown: 1x Jacket measurements: Chest: 51 inches, Shoulder: 19 inches, waist 48.5 inches, Hips 52 inches,2x Jacket measurements: Chest 55 inches, Waist 52.5 inches , Shoulder 20.5 inches, Hips 54 inchesI only have these measurements because I was deciding betweent these two sizes. Both jackets from nape of neck down measures 26inches. I measured myself and although an inch or two smaller than the 2x in some areas, that's the size i ordered. I am a size 16/18 and 5'1" and the 2x was PERFECT. not too tight, not too loose and perfect length for me. This is NOT a long jacket. It's meant to hit at the hip. Love the jacket and color. I walked around town today with thing long sleeve and the jacket and felt nice and warm. I dig the pockets and although the inner liner looks almost like a puffer jacket, it's quite flattering and stylish for a warm jacket. Highly recommended for practicality, warmth and look! Runs very small Beautiful jacket, great quality. However, it runs very very very small. Usually I would be a 1x, but I had to get the 3x to be comfortable yet the upper arms on the liner is still too small. The 3x was only a tiny bit larger than the 2x. I expected more room with the next size up. Especially since it's a 3x!It's a little difficult to take the jacket off. The liner, even though it has a button loop attaching it to the jacket arm at the wrist, the liner and the jacket wants to separate.Wonderful features. I love the jacket and will keep the 3x. Coat Held Up Great In Pouring Rain I recently was in New York City and was wearing my new coat for the first time. It rained all day in NYC. My coat kept me warm and dry in the wet weather and you just needed to give it a good shake to get the water off of it. This product is true to it word when it comes to the features it offers. I am extremely pleased. The only recommendation I would make is to order this coat one size larger than you would normally buy. December 10, 2011

Discouraged I really liked the appearance of the coat, however I did not keep it due to the fit of it. I ordered a size bigger than I would normally and it was still to tight in the arms and shoulders. I have always worn columbia jackets, but the cut/style has changed and they seemed to be geared toward only the really thin people and I am dissapointed in that. December 7, 2011

Worth every penny! I've wanted to purchase this jacket for over a year. After going back and forth on spending so much money on a coat, I bit the bullet and made took the plunge. Seriously, yall. One hundred percent worth it. I took the advice of other reviewers and ordered a size larger than I normally would have. Such a good idea. The coat fits perfectly! And whats even better is that I don't look like the Michelin Man when I'm wearing it. I've used it primarily for everday wear and weekly hikes. Having the layers has already been a life saver. Love this coat! Because I read several reviews prior to purchasing this coat, I knew to order a size larger than I would normally wear. I ordered a 2X and I'm glad I did. The coat fits perfectly! I ordered the black plaid which is very attractive for work or casual events.The omni-heat is noticeably warmer than the coat I was used to wearing. It repels the rain, too. The hood is large and comfortable, but not as warm as the rest of the coat because it is just the hood from the outer shell.I have worn the inside coat separately, and it is very warm and super cute, but it doesn't have a hood. I will wear the pieces together during the winter, and the shell and inside separately during the spring and fall months. I love having those options!I do have one complaint about the coat: It is a little shorter than what I would like. In all of the reviews I read, I didn't see anything about the length. For me, the coat stops right above the waistline of low-rise jeans, exposing my belly when I raise my arms. I researched though, and the length is the same on all sizes of this particular coat, so getting a size larger won't help.Overall, the coat is attractive, warm and functional. November 29, 2011

How to measure
- Chest/Bust: Measure at the fullest part of the chest, under the armpits and over the shoulder blades, keeping the tape measure firm and level.
- Waist: Measure around natural waistline, allowing tape measure to sit comfortably.
- Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips.
- Sleeves: Start at the center back of your neck and measure across the shoulder to the elbow and down to the the wrist. Round up to the next even number.
- Inseam: Measure from the top of the interior leg to the bottom of the ankle.
