Basecamp Digital Watch
basically pretty good
What I want is a basic digital watch - two time zones, stop watch, countdown timer, alarm(s), and beeps quietly on the hour. I don't need gps, laps, intervals, altimeter, etc, or something that will lose its water resistance when you change the battery. And because it doesn't need anything fancy, it should be relatively inexpensive.
Interestingly, it's hard to find these watches. My last one had these features and it worked perfectly fine, and will probably work for years to come, but the unattachable watchband broke after about a year, so it was history. This time, I wanted a watch with the features listed above, but with a detachable watchband. These are even harder to find!
This one comes the closest. It has all of the above (though I had to stumble onto the fact that it has an hour alarm - you get it when you turn on the beeps for the buttons). The display is clear and bright (and adjustable), and once you get the basics from the instructions (and then ignore them because they're so poorly written), it's easy to use.
I would have given this watch 5 stars on everything (who can tell how well it's built after owning it for 2 weeks?), except for two things.
1) It's huge. Maybe people doing training or hanging from a cliff want it to be big to make it extremely easy to see and to press the buttons, but since that's not what I want it for, I'd rather have it smaller in diameter and height. I suggest you compare the dimensions online with your current watch if this might be an issue for you.
2) Along the same lines, the wristband it comes with is functional and seems rugged, but is similarly huge. Again, this might be fine for a sports or exploration watch, but for an everyday watch, not so much. I knew that I was going to replace it anyway because I bought the black watch with a khaki band to get a lower price, but I was still surprised by the size (not the weight) of the band. I now have a regular black band on the watch, it looks big, quite big, but quite good.

Great Style and look. Very nice basic watch, it is not flashy. Has great basic features for outdoor sports and activities.
Only issue is that the sound button is located on the top right hand side and when I bend my wrist it keeps turning the sound feature (beep) on and off....wish I could just keep it off....
