Men’s Baselayer Midweight II Long Sleeve Half Zip Top 4.5 5 10 10
Baselayer 1/2 zip The quality is great, but the size does not fit to the reality according to the publish size table. The sleeves are too wide and the too long. Probably i should take medium instead of large while in other shirts from Columbia i am always large... May 9, 2015
Great for cool day hikes Bought these to use for hiking on cool or maybe a little on the cold side days. They fit great and keep my warm with out being too hot. March 26, 2015
light weight warmth This product does exactly as promised. The harder I work the warmer I stay. Light weight and thin I can barley tell I have it on. It adds no bulk just warmth. Easy to move around in. Really like the quarter zip. I gives me more comfort options. February 16, 2015
change the dummy for sleeves! Can't go over much that others havn't said. It is a good layering product and very comfortable as a base layer or shirt around the house. The sleeves seem just too long and thats enough to be annoying. I went down a size just to get sleeves that weren't a hazard. I'm a big columbia fan i've just learned its much better to try stuff in store and better to buy instore than take a chance ordering online via sizing guides. January 7, 2015
Great baselayer Great base layer. Fits well and keeps you pretty warm during the German winters. January 1, 2015
Comfortable layer The shirt fits well on my XL frame and certainly keeps heat in during cooler spells. I wore this for short hikes in my area with temperature near 40 Fahrenheit with a light rain jacket over the top to repel water and never felt chilled. The light weight construction made adding layers easy and comfortable. The material was thick enough to provide insulation and also to smooth out wrinkles from lower layers. December 22, 2014
Two days, two very different experiences I received this base layer early last week just in time for a tactical mantracking class in the Great Dismal Swamp. It got cold on the last two days of the class, and I wore it each day, all day for about 13 hours at a time. I had two very different experiences each day. First, the fit... The baselayer I received ran large, and very long in the sleeves and collar. The sleeves were probably long enough to have monkey thumb holes, but it does not have them. Come to think of it, that would be a nice improvement. I was not expecting it to fit anywhere near as loose as it did. I was expecting more of a close athletic fit. I think, based off of my previous experience with the omni-heat dots thermal layer that the looser the garment is, the less heat it produces (to a point). Back to day one of wearing the shirt... I wore the top as a base layer with a BDU blouse on top of it (no mid-layer). I also carried a 15 lbs pack on my back. We were moving through dense undergrowth and vegetation during the class. This involved bending, crawling, stooping, climbing, and contorting in nearly every position imaginable to make it through some of the briers, snags, and downed trees in the area while tracking. The shirt performed flawlessly in the mid 40 degree temps. The fabric was breathable enough, and wicked well enough that I never felt "sticky" while sweating. It also produced enough heat under the BDU top while at rest to keep me comfortable... Until the rain started... We were caught about 3 miles back in the swamp when it began pouring down a cold rain, and guess who forgot he had taken his rain gear out to dry last time and didn't put it back in! Once the BDU top soaked through, I felt every slight breeze and could not get warm wearing the top. It was the absolute worst while standing still, and not moving producing metabolic heat. I will say that the shirt remained comfortable, even when soaking wet... Just not warm. It is by no means a wind proof layer, but after all, is any wicking layer? Day two of wearing the top brought 30 degree temps in the morning. This time, I wore an Army issued "silky" top as my baselayer, and wore the Columbia as my midlayer, again under a BDU top. This combination was magic! I never once got cold, I never once felt the wind. I stayed dry while humping it through the swamp, sweating in the 30 degree temps. I was impressed! The only issue I had on this day was the zip up collar will not stay up, as it is extremely pliable and loose... It made the collar basically pointless. Again, I think this is a fit issue though. Overall, I think the top did it's job as intended, and I will probably purchase the heavyweight top to try for hunting, as that involves far more sitting and sitting still, mixed in with periods of physical activity that require a wicking layer... But I will do so with a size or possibly two smaller than what I ordered this time. I would also like to see it offered with monkey thumb holes in the sleeves. November 17, 2014
Looser than expected I was surprised to see this product listed as fitting slightly small. While it fits decently on my body, the sleeves are very long and run halfway down my hand. In general, I was expecting this to more of a form-fitting shirt, with some light compression. It's actually very loose, which is great if it's what you are looking for. (And I'm not exactly thin -- 5' 10", 196 lbs., weightlifter -- so it will be super loose if you are skinny.) The graphite color didn't look quite as nice as I had hoped it would -- probably would have been better off sticking to black. In any case, I'll probably be mostly wearing it under stuff, so as long as it serves its function, it should be fine. November 14, 2014
This product has great features and long lasting. Pros: I thought the workmanship and product quality is excellent. I've used this same product for over two years. It has kept me very warm and comfortable during my workout sessions and running outdoors from Germany to Japan to USA. Cons: It runs a little small, so I had to go up a whole size. November 2, 2014
Great Top I recently purchased this top and tried it out on a Montana fly fishing trip. We got caught in some unexpected nasty weather and this garment saved the day. It is lightweight, warm, and wicks too. Nice job Columbia! October 12, 2014
