Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 53 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Surprised with the weight and Amazed with the performance I used much heavier jackets in the past and was expecting this jacket to be of the same. When I received this product I was surprised and worried that did, I am going to be frozen with this product, however, I was amazed with the lightweight performance jacket that I bought. The size was perfect, light, able to withstand the wind here.... I would surely recommend this product to my friends. January 7, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not What I Expected I got my "Bugaboo" coat in October 2015 and it has been a disappointment since I got it. The inner sleeve material catches on every long sleeve shirt I have worn with it. That makes putting it on and taking it off more work than it should be. The velco fasteners don't always work...but worst of all it's not that warm. I was told this would be as warm as my 20 year old Columbia Challenge Series coat which it clearly is NOT. If you want a light spring or fall coat this might be ok, but it is NOT ok for winter in Wisconsin. January 7, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by PERFECT FOR COLD WEATHER The jacket is great, i wear the thermal insert when I am a little chilly and I add the shell when it is windy and wet. It is a good all-in-one jacket. January 6, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hesistant, but Wowed I read several reviews on winter jackets that I could go skiing with on the weekends and wear to work during the week. After comparing many jackets, I selected this one. Once it came, I almost sent it back immediately. I thought, there is absolutely no way this fleece and uninsulated shell are going to keep me warm. I even went to my nearest Columbia outlet store to look for one to exchange it with. The employee at the store told me I should give the current coat a try because the Omni-Tech fleece really does work. So, I decided to give the coat a chance and if I was dissatisfied, I would return it before the 30 days were up. I am extremely glad I gave the jacket a chance. It feels like it adjusts the amount of heat it absorbs based on the outside temperature. I have worn this jacket in temperatures ranging from single digits to the mid-40s and have been comfortable at all times. I am now a believer in the omni-tech fleece. It also fits very well and looks great. As a former review stated, I also wish the collar was not quite so high, but it does help with extra warmth on the colder mornings. January 5, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent buy! I’ve had my share of jackets, work jackets, and Interchange jackets, and this one is the best by far and my favorite at the moment. It’s not too heavy and the Omni-heat makes it warm yet not to hot that you sweat. And the best part is that you get three combinations with the sweater and a jacket in one. January 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by great quality My son loves this coat he says it keeps him warm in the morning's while waiting on the school bus. January 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Loves it. Purchased this as a gift for our son and he loves it. Omani-Heat is excellent and jacket is light weight and has great move ability. December 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just returned from the glaciers and national parks in Chile and Argentina The functionality, quality and durability of the jacket greatly exceeded my expectations during a recent 11-day trip in remote Chile and Argentina. Layers are essential for warmth, comfort and safety in that part of the world. The outer jacket is 100% waterproof. The interior fleece lining has an added/built-in warmer insert that kept me toasty warm during freezing temps and fierce Patagonian winds. The four exterior pockets were large enough for everything needed for day trekking and photography. I was also pleasantly surprised that the interior fleece lining was removable and had two zippered hand pockets of its own. My only complaint is that the outer jacket's chest pockets have two Velcro tabs each under the flaps, instead of zippers; that made it slightly challenging keeping some snow and rain out of them if the flaps weren't just right. Overall, though, the jacket is exceptional. December 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket for the Price I bought this jacket for my son-in-law for Christmas this year and he loved it. Very warm not to heavy and loves the color. December 26, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice jacket I wish I would have gone with a medium but the large has plenty of room. The zipper seems a bit weak we will see how it holds up. The jacket could use more pockets. With zippers. Seems plenty warm. December 17, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Runs a little large and not as warm I was unable to test this jacket in really cold conditions because I had to return it because the Fit was a bit large. I'm usually an M but this seems to be a fit for an L. In terms of warmth it doesn't seem as warm as other Columbia jackets I've purchased before. I wouldn't recommend this jacket as the warmest one. In terms of color and design it's great. It looks elegant and the black color matched perfectly with the inner grey fleece layer. December 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very impressive I bought this jacket a year ago. Great fit, looks good and keeps me warm on the ski hill. My only wish would be a more convenient pocket for the ski pass. December 12, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Second time's a charm I first ordered my Bugaboo about two months ago. When it arrived, I inspected it carefully and saw that the hangtag on the fleece had not been sewn on correctly and one side had come off of the fleece altogether. I returned the product, but was unsure if I wanted to chance the purchase of another coat from Columbia. After looking at other products again and asking other folks I knew with Columbia jackets I decided to give them another chance. The second jacket arrived in good condition. It's very comfortable -- much more so than my old L.L. Bean jacket it's replacing -- and seems as if it will do the trick at keeping me warm in the relatively mild Virginia winters we get here. These jackets fit a little small -- I tried a number of jackets on in a store first, and a medium in most other brands fit me best. The large Bugaboo worked for me; I really couldn't find much else I liked without going up significantly in price. December 9, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Had one before. I have always had Columbia jackets because they were always very warm and functional. As the winters here in MN get really cold mid January to mid March and I tend to work outside this jacket was hands down the choice for me. No complaints until my 7 year old Columbia Bugaboo 3 in 1 jacket ripped at the left pocket last year. I decided to wait until this October to replace it as I wouldn't need a 3 in 1 interchange winter jacket at the start of summer. I bought the jacket and knew I made a good purchase. One complaint is for there is no elastic in the cuffs on both the inside fleece and the shell. Which has the cuffs cover half of my hands. The Velcro on the shell comes in handy but not as secure as if the elastic was in the cuffs. Than one other feature missing is the outside zip upper chest pocket on the fleece coat. Other than those missing important features this jacket would be great. December 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fell in love!!!<3 As I was looking around the store for a new jacket; I spotted this gem. Tried it on, jumped around, tons of twists, flexed in every possible way, fitted great and it passed with flying colors!!! Once I had the receipt in hand, the tags were off & walked home in the bitter cold, NOT SUFFERING 1 SECOND!!! Best purchase in a longgg time!!! Also it was on sale!!!!! What a bonus!!! A++++ ladies and gentlemen!!! November 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product is so comfortable to wear This jacket is one of the best things to wear in cold climates. As an amateur adventurer, I find this jacket to be of great need. As a native Californian, I am not used to the cold. The inside of the jacket is filled with a Omni-Heat™ thermal reflective liner, and the it is surrounded with Omni-Tech™ waterproof/breathable critically seam sealed, so that my skin can still breath while being warm. I used this jacket when I hiked a trail on Mount Hood, and it worked like a charm! I was neither cold nor warm, I was very comfortable! November 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Not sure yet. I got this to get ready for winter, but I live in New Mexico, so it's not cold enough yet to make a true review. But from what I've seen and felt so far, it's worth it, I needed a replacement for my old columbia jacket and this more than met my needs. I think it's a tad over kill for this area but I also bought it because I'll be moving back east soon and I feel I made a great choice. The only problem I might see is about the sleeves haven't check if there are any buttons, but it was kinda hard taking off the jacket with the sleeves tightened down, we'll see, otherwise I'm more than happy with it. November 22, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Affordable and functional I bought this jacket to wear under my patrol vest. Very warm with the liner zipped in. Hood works well without a helmet. Overall a good winter/ski jacket. Might be nice if the shell also had omni heat, rather than just the liner. What would be really nice is the option to purchase a puffy to zip into this jacket instead of the fleece. November 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bugaboo is the bomb :) Good product that met my expectations. It is built well and the technology lives up to the billing. It is stitched well but I had issues with the velcro when I first looked at the product at an REI store; it was damaged. They did not have the correct size so I ordered directly from the Columbia site. November 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bugaboo Great jacket wore it daily on a 14 day trip to Alaska worked as a windbreaker, raincoat and was fairly warm. There is no temperature rating on the coat so layering is suggested October 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Jacket on the market Have worn Columbia gear for 10+ years, This jacket has all the top features needed with the quality only Columbia offers. September 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Jacket for College! I bought the Collegiate Navy color, and wow, I was impressed. You can't tell in the pictures or video, but the material of the jacket is top notch. The outside looks very nice and resistant. I started sweating as soon as I put the jacket on in my room. I am in Chicago for school, which everyone knows is really cold. I haven't faced a winter here yet, but I've been in Boston's winters, and this Jacket can definitely hold its own there. The only problem, which isn't a problem, is that since I am rather short (5'5"), I have shorter arms. The small size jacket fits perfectly except for the sleeve length. The sleeves are a little long on me, however, if I use the cuff adjusters, it's alright. However, the arms look a bit scrunched up, which is fine with me, but I wish it was a tad bit shorter. Better longer, than too short. Overall, I am satisfied. September 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bugaboo Excellent in an extremely cold Michigan winter August 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great I love this product for my husband. He was so much warm in NYC winter and dry. He loved it. June 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by All it is supposed to be I bought this for my son and he loves it. Interchangables are great for changing winter weather and can be stripped down for summer mountain weather. I now want one for myself. March 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This jacket is super warm and looks great! This jacket is very warm, and perfect for our Michigan Winters. It's unbelievably light weight and has convenient pockets. I ordered the red one for my 16 year old son, and he's gotten many compliments on it. March 7, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Light Comfortable & Warm This jacket is for our tweener son. The jacket is so light as compared to my Bugaboo Interchange which I've had for a few years now. Our son has told us that the jacket is very comfortable and warm. March 4, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bugaboo Love it. Very versatile February 22, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointing Not nearly as good as previous versions of the Bugaboo. No interior pockets and the 2 exterior chest pockets aren't very useful. The hood is not lined nor is it attached/sealed all the way around the collar. It snaps on each side and then attaches w/ a zipper in the center. The result are gaps between the collar and hood that will most likely give you a nice blast of cold air down your neck. The fleece lining isn't nearly as thick or heavy as on my last Bugaboo. If the silver reflective dots really do provide any benefit, I haven't noticed yet after a week of wearing in single digit temps. You will probably want a layer underneath w/ another fleece or sweat shirt. On the plus side, the size and fit are exceptional. I'm 6-5 and a pretty big guy and the 2XL Tall fits PERFECTLY! I probably should have returned after the first day I wore it outside, but didn't have a choice as big and tall outerwear isn't exactly easy to come by. I hate to write such a negative review, but I think that Columbia dropped the ball on this jacket. I loved my old Bugaboo, but it had simply gotten too big and I thought I could get a nice replacement for it during the end of season sale. At this price point, I would have expected something better. Not sure if this is a case of the bean counters dictating product or what, but this is a total disappointment. February 20, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great coat, great price I was in desperate need for a winter coat. I always wanted Columbia brand but got it until now. The coat is lightweight. Thinner than my older coat, yet very much warmer. I love it!!! I definitely recommend this coat. BTW I live in western New York (state) AND it is FREEZING here at the time of this review. February 20, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Men's Bugaboo Interchange Jacket I am a woman and bought this jacket for myself as I love the color. It's currently my favorite and love it so much, I bought a second one 3 weeks later for a back-up. It's been below zero lately and this is very warm. When it gets a bit warmer, just zip out the lining and it will be perfect for early Spring as well as Autumn. One of the best 3-season jackets I've owned. February 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by coat Bought this for my son. Fits well. Looks nice. He liked the jacket that can be removed to wear separately. We have not had much wet, winter weather yet since he got it so not sure how it is in snow but it seems like it should be fine. February 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A must-have! This jacket is very impressive. Living in Seattle, we've had a lot of rain recently. I wore it the other day and was very comfortable, both in dryness and warmth. I was expecting to have to remove the inner shell because it's not very cold right now in Seattle, but the jacket (as is) was amazing. I am happy it will be in my closet for years to come. I am 5'9" and 170lbs. Athletic build. Perfect fit even with layers on underneath. February 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by MEN’S BUGABOO INTERCHANGE JACKET Had been looking at this jacket for a couple of months. Caught it on sale in Dark Navy for less than half of list. I'm 6'0", 200 lbs. The jacket fits me perfectly and allows room for a t-shirt and long sleeve fishing shirt without being too tight. Fished in 30º weather and didn't get cold once. The sleeves run little long for normal wear. But, the extra length helps when fishing. The liner jacket worn alone is very nice looking. I'm always impressed with the quality of Columbia products at their different price points. February 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by warm keeps me warm with not a lot of layers February 3, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Men's Bugaboo Jacket Great jacket overall. Originally ordered XL and had to return it for XXL. I am 6' and weigh 230 but I have a large chest. The fit is snug around my upper arms so that when I wear a sweater under the coat the inner sleeves do not slide on easily. I love wearing the jacket and appreciate the interchange functionality. January 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Jacket This jacket is beyond what I was looking for. Great constructions, lots of small details come together to make this jacket wonderful. Works for any conditions: snow, rain, cold, wind, it performs in all. Love the color I got, green. January 23, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Good looks - Bad insulation I ordered this jacket to replace my two existing winter coats for the Chicago winter as I believed Columbia jackets would be more effective, and am utterly disappointed as the weather goes sub-zero. Pros: I love the design and it looks very stylish. Cons: It does not have enough insulation to get you through midwest winter. Outer layer is almost as thin as a sheet and inner layer is just a fleece with omniheat lining. Arms feel very cold if you bend it from elbows since the jacket itself gets cold and there is not enough cushion not to transfer that coldness to your arms. Hood is very long. Even though I have a 'long' head, hood goes over my head and covers my eyes. All in all, it looks very nice but I regret buying this jacket because it is not better than my two other jackets warmth-wise. I would have returned if the weather was cold enough to test when I received the jacket. January 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Field Jacket Bought this because I wanted something that was going to keep me warm and dry in freezing conditions but was also lightweight and not bulky. It is not built to be as warm as other coats that are usually bulkier, but you can compensate for that by wearing a thermal layer underneath a long-sleeve t-shirt or sweatshirt. December 29, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Awesome product Incredible jacket from a reputable company. Great fit and function. An improvement would be to use zippers on the chest pockets rather than Velcro and also incorporate zippers for both interior pockets. The interior pockets are large and accommodating but could be better integrated into the jacket. December 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Escellent warm jacket for rainy, cold weather. I bought this jacket for my dad and he loves it. It's great for rainy and cold weather. When he walks in light rain, the water just beads and rolls off. He loves all the pockets and how warm it is. We like that there is a detachable hood that zips off, but I would say that the zipper should run all the way across the hood, not just part way (in the middle), as that would be a sturdier design. Sometimes he has a hard time getting it on and off, as the fleece liner inside gets bunched up a bit. I would recommend two straps inside to hold the fleece liner in place (not just one). We thought the outer shell had a bungee to tighten it around his hips, but we don't think it has one. Overall, he is very happy with the jacket and he gets a lot of compliments on how nice looking it is. December 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket Great jacket. Quality construction. Very warm. Fits well. December 19, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by bugaboo jacket I purchased this product to stay warm and dry this winter in Cleveland OH. The jacket seems very well constructed and seems to do as advertised. I haven't had a chance to test it in a real soaker. The liner tend to extend out from the end of the sleeve which is no big deal. I think they could improve this by adding a double zipper (both directions) and lining the hood (it is not lined now). I am happy with my purchase December 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bugaboo jacket I purchased this for my husband because his job has him outside a lot. He absolutely loves it and said he wished he would have had it a long time ago!!!! A very warm jacket! December 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by My first Columbia jacket I needed a winter coat after moving back to the Midwest from Phoenix. Columbia was one of the 3 brands I thought of when researching. The price was right, the features are handy, and I haven't been cold in it yet. At around 3 lbs it is the best coat I own. December 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Omni Reflective Heat Works At Dicks Sporting Goods tried on the Bugaboo jacket and left the jacket on as I shopped the jacket area. After a few minutes, took the jacket off and I felt the heat liner and to my suprise the omni fabric not only retained the heat, reflected the body heat back to my fingers. - Water proof and warm. November 26, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Jacket This jacket is great for those cold, snowy days. I love the interchange function as it allows the jacket to vary along with the various temperatures. Jacket is obviously well made, holds up great over many uses. Another fantastic Columbia product! November 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product for the price! I bought the Interchange jacket about a month ago and have worn it several times a week since then. So far, I don't have any complaints. Some people have mentioned the need for an insulated hood, but personally I have always found hats more effective anyway. My interchange is the Collegiate Navy with the liner being a lighter shade of blue. The switch from just the liner to the complete system is quick and easy. Wearing just the liner has also been a huge benefit. It fits well and the omni-heat technology really keeps you warm inside. I read a different review regarding the color of the branding; for the navy the lettering is light grey, so I think it blends well and doesn't seem brash at all. Lastly, the shell also works well on its own. Its obviously not as warm as the whole jacket together, but it really keeps out the wind especially with its high collar. One last note, there is an optional addition to the interchange system and that is the "Go To" jacket. I have gone ahead and purchased this for added warmth. Winters can get quite cold. Overall great product. November 3, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great Jacket Just a couple things I wish were different: #1 -- The branding on the chest and sleeve. The color is such a contrast makes it more like a billboard than a logo. The thread should be a closer match to the background. #2 -- Wish you could choose the color of the liner separate from the shell. Would much prefer the Graphite shell with the liner that comes with the Black one -- really don't like the light grey color when wearing just the liner :-( That said, the Omni-Heat reflective inner material is amazing, feels like an externally powered thermal blanket to me. Much appreciated when the temperature is 40 or below, however, expect to sweat a lot when the temperature is higher than that. October 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Dang, I guess I need to buy another one. I am not sure exactly how old my Columbia Bugaboo jacket is (somewhere in the range of 16 to 18 years), but I think it is probably time to replace it. Biggest reason is three small holes from campfire sparks and the outer shell is no longer waterproof. Thats it. After almost 18 years of serving me well, from working in the Gulf of Mexico in the winter, to search and rescue, fishing, camping, hiking, skiing, and everyday wear when it is cold this jacket has served me well. Unless you knew the style changes throughout the Bugaboo history I seriously doubt you could look at this jacket and tell how old it is. I did not baby, pamper, or even take all that great of care of my jacket, and it still performed flawlessly. If it wasn't for the waterproofing being worn out and I am very unsure of how to fix that, I would not consider buying another. Don't get me wrong, I am not getting rid of my current Bugaboo, I will continue to use it for anything but wet weather. I only hope my next Bugaboo, works as well and lasts just as long. My jacket is one of the reasons I continue to buy Columbia, and will continue to do so until my trust in the product is broken, (which hasn't happened yet). October 16, 2014
