Rated 5 out of 5 by Glad, took the chance and bought them !! Perfect for walk on the beach, lake or River. Best thing is these have excellent ventilation. So, any where it is hot and humid, these shoes will be perfect. Like others have written, these shoes are not made for running. Walking yes, running, no! January 2, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Water Shoe Everything works as described. My only complaint is you need to wear socks as they are very rough inside. I own both the Drainmaker 1's and 2's prefer the 1's December 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by water runs thru Love wearing these around the water and on fishing trips. When on boat I can hose my shoes down and water goes on out helping me keep cooler May 23, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by drainmaker II It's been a day and a half since they got wet and they are still not dry. So, my quick dry rating is slow dry. Also, support is just adequate--I would like more of it. But EVERYTHING else is super about. I bought them to wear surf fishing. Their snug upper restricts the amount of sand that gets in and sand that gets in actually drains out the bottom. They are very, very comfortable-I wear them even when not fishing. They look good. Rated 5 out of 5 by Comfortable & Functional Bought these to use on the wet rocks of the Pacific in Olympic National Park. The performed well on the rocks & were comfortable walking in the sand. The mesh top makes them a nice everyday sneaker. I would not use them for hiking. They are not intended to be used on trails. I recommend these sneakers. August 20, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not good for wading creeks I bought these in hopes of finding a good shoe that would keep out sand and small rocks. I wade small creeks and rivers fishing for smallmouth and I had to stop 3 times in the span of 8 hours to dump the little bits of rock out of my shoes. It was very uncomfortable. It does a fine job of keeping out anything pea-sized or larger but still lets in sand and breadcrumb sized rocks. August 12, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Great idea with lots of room for improvement This shoe fits very comfortably. It should be priced about $60.00 If you go to the beach or river you could easily walk in the water and the shoe drains well. However, getting to the river its not a good shoe. It bends to much; it is not sturdy and it flexes every which way. It is by no means a hiking shoe. In the water or floating down the river its comfortable. Unfortunately, once the material of this shoe is wet, it takes two days to dry. The idea behind the creator was to go in and out of the water. Why does the material take so long to dry ? Its a great idea to have a shoe for in and out of the water - keep working on it. August 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by DrainmakerII Awesome!! Ordered these shoes for kayak fishing a few months ago and was worried that they would not fit right since I could not try them on first.....worried for nothing!! Once I received them, I was impressed with the light weight material and quality of the shoe. They fit perfect per the size chart and are the most comfortable water shoe I've owned. They're so comfortable that I've actually been using them when walking the track with my wife for exercise. Once in the water, they continue to feel great and do drain very quickly once out of the water. I'm use to switching back to flip flops after a day on the water for the ride home. However, so far I've keep them on while loading up the truck and trailer with my gear and drove home with them on. If you too are worried about getting the right fit, please use the sizing chart that you can print out to size yourself....it works and is true to size/fit!! Great job Columbia. July 18, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Wading Shoe I am a river rat who does a lot of kayak and wade fishing on an annual basis. Typically, I go through a pair of shoes each year. 6 months in and look like they may make it until next year. They are light, breathable, comfortable, and function well. The only negative , which is why I gave them a 4/5, is that the toe protector needs to extend slightly further back on each side. Highly recommended shoe! July 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by My Favorite Shoe I picked up a pair of these since my hybrid sandal/shoes kept falling apart on me. I always have a need for a comfortable water shoe that I can wear in any situation while still protecting my feet from the sun, and sharp objects in the water like oysters and coral, and still offer traction on boat decks and rocks. Also, being light and cool are desired qualities I was looking for. I absolutely LOVE these shoes. There so comfortable, that I picked up 2 more pairs and wear them nearly every day. They're the kind of shoe that you wear and almost feel as if you don't have shoes on. I'm on my feet a lot and do quite a bit of walking. I initially thought that they would never be able to put up with the amount of punishment that I would dish out on them, but they've held up quite well. They dry quickly and don't hold an excess amount of water in them. Two things that I'll say about them is if you wear them without socks, be sure to wash them out regularly as the tend to get stinky fairly fast, and they can tend to hold on to sand and other bits that you might pick up while wading in the water. Other than those two things, these are solid performers for what I do. They fit well and look nice too. June 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Couldn't be happier Haven't had these in the water yet, but spring's coming! Have worn them several times, all day comfort and very light. Can't wait to get out in the kayak with them. FYI on the sizing form that you can print: if you're not completely sure your printer is printing actual size I would recommend measuring your foot and comparing (in mm). The chart showed me needing an 11.5 but after measuring my foot it was a 10. They fit perfect. March 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by These are the BEST Water Shoes I have ever owned Yes, that what I said They are the best ever. I have worn them in rivers, large water bodies and most recent in the ocean in Maui Hawaii where they performed great. I ware a neoprene foot sock and the water shoe. I am a video cameraman so while shooting in the ocean and near shore I am bouncing up and down, some time touching the bottom and for safety these shoes keep my feet safe because I never know what I and going to be standing on. Yes, you are going to get sand in them but, so far has not hinder my performance. When I get back to the beach I wash them out with water and I am ready to go for the next day of shooting. By the way use a double knot to tie your shoe with. March 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great fit and comfort! This rating is preliminary since I just received my shoes. The fit and finish is GREAT! They are extremely comfortable. I'll try to repost later in the year after I've tested them on a few fishing trips. March 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by whole family wears them as an avid kayaker, i have fallen in love with my drainmakers and the rest of the family has as well. good fit, plenty of grip and they wear well wet or dry. light and comfortable all day. January 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by this product has great features As a Florida Keys fishing guide, I demand a boat shoe that is light, does not retain water, dries quickly and grips the deck well. This shoe offers it all and looks and feels great. I love it October 27, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by A good shoe. A good shoe. I took it hunting ,fishing and it held up well. A small amount of sand gets trapped between the sole and the drain mesh though. A good buy for the active outdoors person. October 21, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice... A good hybrid between a water shoe and something you can wear as normal footwear. The grip is good, but not 5-10 type grip on slick rocks. For the versatility of working/playing on the water and out... very good. They dried reasonably quickly and didn't have a heavy soggy wet feel. October 11, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Recent trip to Canada/Boundary Waters For the first time, I didn't use the traditional footwear I take on these trips (been going to the BWCA since 1983). The first couple of days, these things worked great--they dried quickly in the canoes and shed water very quickly. However, my only complaint is that after wearing them on the 3rd day, I noticed that they started to retain significant odors that smelled like sour milk. The weather was warm enough that they dried overnight. I couldn't get rid of the odor completely while on the trip, so was judicious in my use. Once I got home, I put them in the washing machine and the odors were mostly eliminated. Can't say I've ever had a sour milk aroma coming from my feet. That's a first....... Wonder if they would react the same way in an Ozark creek or down on the Gulf?? September 12, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by The Drainmakers II were very comfortable and functional during an all day fishing outing. Just want to say how pleased we are with the fit, function and how well they performed even without wearing socks. We fished out in Biscayne Bay on a boat all day, it managed to rain and our wet shoes performed nicely. My girlfriend expressed the same on the performance of her Powerdrain Cools. We can only hope that their durability goes the distance as we look forward to utilizing them all Year. September 4, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by great shoes Fantastic shoes very comfortable, dries really fast I highly recommend Men´s drain maker II August 12, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by These shoes have literally made my summer better! I've been looking forever for the perfect hiking/water shoe. I want one that is comfortable, has an aggressive hiking sole, drains well and will protect my feet. I finally found it with this shoe. I've taken my drainmaker 2's to Hawaii on many hikes including crossing streams and creeks. They performed perfectly. On my favorite hike here in Oregon (Opal Creek) there are many large boulder type rocks and tons of water to wade through and again they performed perfectly. I have two pair and I've loaned them to two friends and they both now want a pair. If you want a comfortable hiking shoe that can go from trail to water and back again, this is your shoe. Finally! August 10, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Like no other water shoe! These shoes are above and beyond what i expected! They are remarkable comfortable. I wore these shoes while kayaking and paddle boarding and they are very comfortable and have great grip. They drain so well its like you are walking with bare feet. Even with sand in them walking is pleasurable and most of all dry! August 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing Shoe! If you're looking for a great boat/fishing shoe, this is the one! Very light, easy to wash, and outstanding grip! August 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by These shoes are insane Bought these shoes for a 6 day white water rafting trip down the grand canyon. By the second day most people in my group were duct taping their ankles because their water proof shoes had given them blisters but I used these shoes for everything and never had a hint of a blister. Wore the shoes all day on the boat and then would go for extensive hikes when we got to camp over some rough terrain. They handled everything I threw at them and kept my feet happy. Best water shoes on the market, hands down. July 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE these shoes I purchased these shoes because 1) I love shoes and 2) I do a lot of hiking and walking and these shoes fit excellent! July 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Shoe I purchased these shoes as a "water shoe" for kayaking and other activities on the waterfront. I put the shoes on right out of the box with no socks to see how they fit and whether there would be any "hot spots" created in daily wear. They fit just right and caused no problems whatsoever. I work part-time in retail and I wore them (with socks) to work one day and they were great! These shoes are light, comfortable, and they drain water as advertized. I would (and will) recommend them to anyone. July 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome shoes I just got a pair of these last week and I put them to the test last night. Out fishing in an downpour and I could feel the water draining out of the shoes. Exactly what I wanted them to do. The traction on slippery surfaces was great as well. July 10, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by The fit is excellent. I like a light weight shoe. It has great looks. It is comfortable. July 9, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Fitting Shoe I wanted a sneaker that I could wear w/o socks, that would be cool in the summer and was functional. The Drainmaker II delivered on all counts. I used the PDF sizing printout to select my size and it fits spot on.....a great pair of summer sneaks! June 27, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Best Water Shoe on the Market It is the best water shoe I've come across. It drains much better than any shoe I have ever tired and drys in minutes (if that). They feel like running shoes which is a plus. The only thing I have a problem with is that the heel rubs a bit and the material is not too forgiving, but nothing a little moleskin can't fix. June 23, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by great shoe lives up to the description in every way. Very comfortable, cushioned, and supportive shoe. fished all day two days in a row in this shoes with no complaints. each morning the shoe was completely dry. May 31, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Shoes They're true to the product description. Though this is the first time I've ordered shoes online, I used to size chart and was still a bit skeptical. When the shoes came in, I immediately tried them on. Perfect fit, extremely comfortable, a great buy on my part. They are fast drying, which is what I needed as a commercial pool maintenance tech. When these bite the dust, i'll definitely replace them with the same pair. May 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Drainmaker II Perfect for a Kayak Fisherman The Drainmaker II Is a comfortable shoe as well as a perfect everyday wear shoe for summer. I find it to be quite comfortable. The styling and the comfort makes this shoe a well rounded shoe for every purpose. The lugs on the bottom are perfect on the wet boat ramp, enough traction to prevent accidental slips. I wear mine while sitting on my kayak and fishing in freshwater lakes. I then wear them out to my local shops or wear them while walking some trails. I love my Columbia Drainmaker II's. May 27, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by As Advertised, I love them! I loved Drainmaker I because they were light and comfortable. Drainmaker II is even better because they have added more support for the overall frame of the shoe without adding a lot of weight. Also, others have commented positively on the appearance of the shoes. May 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Drainmaker ll, Life on the Colorado River Being a Colorado River guide l use my gear to and beyond expectations. This review is for this product. Being a river guide l'm in and out of the river, boat, shore - sandy and rocky all the time. Having traction on wet surfaces submerged and above the water line are very important ( who wants a broken down guide?). I have been using a 5 toe shoe and loved it. Only problem is l go through a pair in about 3-4 months and cost a bundle. Tried a Keen and good traction and wear ability, just a little weak in the "keep the rocks out of the shoe" department. I purchased the Drainmaker II with hopes set high. l knew exactly what l wanted. The first trip out was without socks( on the river for a few days sometimes those socks get a life of their own.....and not in a good way) l wanted to see how much it collected the little river rocks that end up getting in the shoe and irritating the dickens out of you. When you can empty out your shoe at the end of the day and you have enough rocks to fill up a flower bed, yeah like that, that's when you know you have to change shoes. After a day, around 8 hours, on the river l had about a tablespoon of of 1/16 to 1/8 sized rocks in my shoe. Most of, if not all of, the rocks were coming in from around the ankle. The next day l added the sock. After 8 hours l had less because the opening was close up more with the sock. And with whatever rocks were in my show cushioned by the sock made it next to no problem. The traction is very good, right up with my 5 toe shoes. Drainage Spectacular! No "Fishbowl" in this shoe. How long it will last l don't know at this point, l'll do an update when it wears out. May 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by so far so good I worry about the toe area as the stitching is funky and i suspect that it will be the first thing to wear out. I almost returned the product. But other than that i am very pleased, so far. May 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for the shore! Just returned from trip to Maui where these shoes performed perfectly. Able to traverse the hot sands and/or rough lava rock right down into the sea and back. Also hiked 5 miles on irregular trail and through streams - barefoot in the shoe - with complete comfort; no chaffing and virtually no water retained in shoes! They drained VERY quickly! I recommended them to my son who intends to participate in a ToughMudder event. Last time he did , his running shoes got saturated with water and bogged him down. These shoes run "true to size" when compared to my dress shoes. Size 11.5 in the Drainmaker II compares to size 12 in Nike or New Balance minimalist shoes. May 14, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Worked great Just returned from a trip to Belize and used these shoes while cannoning and also hiking/cave exploring. Even while wet great grip and super comfortable. Didn't dry as quickly as I hoped, but wasn't terrible May 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great shoe. Great function I was looking for a great canyoneering shoe. This is it. It drains quickly and dries quickly as well. It remain lightwight and breathable but still keeps the dirt and rocks out. I now have 2 pair. May 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent all around adventure shoe My wife and I purchased a pair of the Drainmaker II each for an upcoming trip to the Caribbean. The shoes are very versatile, from sailing to hiking to walking shallow reefs, are comfortable without socks with no chafe points! Light as anyone of my running shoes, I will most definitely buy another pair. April 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Drainmaker II Sneakers Rock! I am kayak fishing guide, disc golfer, and dog owner. I am outdoors most every weekend and almost always around some form of water. I am loving my Drainmaker II shoes! I can step in a stream or the dog pond and in the Texas sun these shoes are dry in 10-15 minutes. They are light and very comfortable. And they are stylish too. I have already received several compliments on their looks. I intend to wear these as my regular sneakers this summer. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend these shoes to my friends. April 22, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome shoes for fishing, boating and kayaking! I bought these a few months back. I do a lot of kayaking as a guide here in FL and really put footwear through the paces. When I put these on for the first time I didn't want to wear them to the water. They were to comfortable and to nice for water shoes. I can wear them all day and not feel uncomfortable. Even when they are wet they are not to heavy. Drain and dry fast. I loved them so much I just purchased 2 more pairs! Great shoes in or out of the water. The soles are very good on the slippery boat ramps. I also wear these on my skiff when fishing the flats. These can't be beat. March 21, 2013
