Rated 5 out of 5 by from OutDoorDaddy This exceeded my expectations! Great for hiking, biking, fishing or sleeping!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Would have liked to be impressed I really like the Columbia brand, I have two winter jackets that I use for alpine skiing and for casual wear. I purchased this base layer with positive expectation and was left on my appetite. The product fits great,, very close to body with its performance fit. On the less positive side, I found it not to be as warm as other mid-weight base layer I have, which surprised me because this is a heavy weight layer. I found the product did not breath well and that it was abnormally easy to pull small threads. I have the two different model but after trying other brands I found the Columbia did not perform up to par.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and Comfortable This was an excellent base layer for my recent snowboarding trip. I only needed to wear a jacket over it and was perfectly warm in high 20's/low 30's temperatures.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tight in shoulders I normally buy a medium in shirts and prefer talls if available. I would buy this product again, but in a size large. The form fit is normally good for active base layers, but with this shirt, the shoulders are a bit narrow even with my slim body. This causes the shirt to pull up beneath the armpits. A large might be less form fitting, but the added length and wider shoulders would be worth a little looser fit. The thumbholes are a nice feature, but again would be more useful if the arms were longer (size L or M-tall). That being said, I still like the shirt and quality is very good. It is lighter weight than typical heavyweight base layers, but the Omni-heat feature seems to offset the material weight. So I will keep it and still rate it a 4.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have Such a great utility layer, can be used in many conditions and situations. Great for active people, easy to move in yet keeps you nice and warm. This is my go-to base layer for skiing and cold weather hiking. I now own three of these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Extremely effective superhero-fit base layer I would never consider paying this price for a dress shirt, but it's a no-brainer with this half-zip. The OmniHeat technology is extremely effective at maintaining temperature while allowing perspiration to escape. I wear this while playing racketball outdoors; the length is just about right to maintain coverage during fast-paced activity; it's also pretty elastic so freedom of movement is unimpeded. If you're of average height but greater than 42-44 chest, be advised that this is a superhero-fit garment. Consider your build when ordering. The only knock on this item is that it tends to show some pilling after a few uses; that distracts from the awesome weave and texture. Other than that, it's definitely a home-run.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect base layer for alpine climbing I bought this to be used as heavier base layer for hiking in cold conditions near by Seattle. My favorite part of this product is the large quarter neck zip which allows you to dumb a whole lot of heat when it gets very hot. I have even wore this on a sunny day and it absorbs all the sweat and drys fast. I am very happy with this product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from warm and fit pretty well went to skiing for the first time and I use this sleeve under my ski jacket and during the whole day I was very comfortable keep you warm with no sweat

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not heavy weight at all I love Columbia products. This one was very disappointing. Very thin and not warm at all
Date published: 2016-04-02
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heavyweight fit I have short arms and it fits me very well. Shouldn't be a problem for "normal arms" as there is stretch The shirt is very snug, but not restrictive. Haven't fully tested it yet # the weather has moderated # but if it's as effective as its mid-weight cousin, I think it'll serve me very well. It was on sale, making it an even better buy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from XL works as a Large-Tall I'm tall (37" sleeve in a dress shirt). I would normally wear a Large. The snug, but elastic fit of this shirt in an XL fits me well and gives me the extra sleeve length that I need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A MUST have. As a photojournalist for the news, I spend a lot of time in the elements, especially during winter storm coverage. This heavy base layer is a must have for anyone spending significant time outdoors at or near freezing temperatures. The Omniheat design really works best against your skin, keeping you surprisingly warm, and sweat free with its wicking technology. I also recommend the heavy base layer pants.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice but short sleeves could be added I use this mainly for cold weather cycling. Thumb holes are great to keep shirt down in a long sleeved jersey and in winter gloves. It could be a little longer to keep tucked down in bibs or reg pants. Light enough not to feel "weighty" and not like a thermal at all. Zipper is great when I get a little too warm and need a little air flow. High collar keeps out cold air. Neck is large enough to allow Balaclava to fit down inside comfortably. Snug enough to keep cold air from flowing up into jersey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great first layer Very warm first layer. Well styled. Can be worn under a variety of mid-layers

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice but not that warm I got this for bicycling in cold weather because its "Heavyweight" description sounded like it would be a very warm baselayer. For bicycling, not so much. I would rate it as medium weight and warmness in terms of what type of weather it's suitable for, at least for bicycling, which granted has much higher speeds and therefore wind-chill than, say, jogging or skiing. I have a thermal baselayer from a bicycle-specific company that is much warmer. Recognizing that everyone's cold threshold is different, I'm fairly warm-blooded and "Heavy"weight to me well overstates its warmth. Its fit and design are first-rate and beautiful, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it. Thank you for making a shirt , off-the-rack, true to size and making the sleeves long enough where sleeves stay at base of my hand & wrist meet. I'm 6' 2'' tall and I have never gotten a shirt with long enough sleeves. The way the shirt keeps me warm is fabulous. I usually wear a top of some kind over the shirt especially if I'm going to be outdoors. Thank you for a great garment, I now have 2 light weight and 1 heavy weight shirt. Dana

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Basically Perfect This is a great base layer, underwear. It is very well made of excellent materials. Its design is perfect. I tried the Mediumweight base layer shirt and found it too light for the seriously cold weather in which we'll be.
