Cargo for Golf course These shorts have all the features required for golf, beach , summer concert or just a walk in the park.Excellent weight, color, sun protection, moisture resistance.......everything but money in the pockets arrived when I received these shorts. May 9, 2013

7 Months in Peace Corps South Pacific I'm a Peace Corps volunteer in Vanuatu, a subtropical island nation in the South Pacific. I feel air conditioning about once a week when I go into town and go explore the bush multiple times a week. Before leaving, I purchased 4 pairs of these shorts at a local department store: 2 grey, 1 brown, 1 green. Knowing what little I did before departure, I was looking for lightweight, stain-resistant pants. Additionally, I bought 2 pairs of Blood & Guts convertible pants which I wear almost exclusively as shorts. First, the pros and cons of the Silver Ridge shorts and then a little compare and contrast with the B&Gs.Cons:The inseam of one pair of my shorts split open within the first month of my service. As all of the others have held up I can only assume that I stressed an uncommon flaw in an uncommon way. Also, when sitting inside, these shorts do feel a bit long. My generation finds shorts below the knees to be fashionable, but in a hot climate it's really the shorter the better (within respectability). However, when riding in the backs of pickups or other situations where you must sit for long periods of time in the sun, long pants help to protect the thighs from sunburn.Pros:These are very lightweight pants and keep me cool. The mesh pockets have not been an issue for me and, I'm guessing, feel a lot better than cotton pockets sticking against the skin. I wash my clothes with an overnight soaking method here using tap water and laundry detergent in a bucket. I put them through a lot and they come out looking more or less like the day I bought them. I've been unable to remove the cuttlefish ink from one pair, but that's the only significant stain on my four pairs.Against the Blood & Guts shorts:I have not used the Blood & Guts shorts for their intended purpose: lots of fishing on a boat. But I do lots of things that get me dirty in a saltwater and tropical backcountry environment and I'd have to say that I much prefer the Silver Ridge shorts to the B&Gs for two reasons. One, the B&Gs are a significantly heavier construction and, two, the fabric seems to soak up grunge a lot more, making the B&Gs feel dirtier far quicker than the Silver Ridge shorts. The one benefit to the B&G shorts is the cut, for walking around in the backcountry they are the right cut: just a little above the knee and not quite so loose in the fit. I know it's pretty specific, but if I could get Silver Ridge fabric in a B&G cut, I'd say that'd be the perfect walkabout short on subtropical islands. April 26, 2013
Nice looking and great fit Nice and light especially for backpacking but I wish the hip pockets were deeper and that one back pocket was zippered. Earlier versions of this short did have deeper pockets. April 25, 2013
Nice Hiking Shorts Comfortable, lightweight, full featured sport shorts. I have not had the opportunity to use them yet (too cold so far) but the quality appears to be there.One minor issue is that they are only about 11.5 inches in length, not 12 as advertised. April 23, 2013
A disappointment I guess I didn't read the product description well enough. The material is 100% synthetic. It doesn't breathe and gets hot when it's hot out. The pockets are shallow and make me worry about things falling out of them when I sit down.The shortest inseam is 10" and that still touches the knee of this 6' guy - this is important when I am ascending slickrock. I don't like to be restricted in my movements while "going up".I wouldn't buy them again. April 21, 2013
Perfect shorts for me Great fit, love the length (I'm 6'6" and it's great to find 12" inseam), very lightweight yet sturdy and durable. The quick dry aspect makes them the perfect travel short. Will be just right for our Galapagos trip this summer. March 28, 2013
Not loose fitting These shorts are not loose fitting. Tight around the thighs, rear end, and front. Waist was fine, so size was not the issue. Needs deeper pockets, too. I really like the material and overall feel......the cut is just too fitted, felt constricted. I am returning them. March 27, 2013

Good quality shorts I definitely like these shorts. I am 6'2" and got the ones with a 12" inseam. They almost cover my entire knee cap. Very lightweight, yet durable material. I will be buying another pair in a different color soon. They should hold up a long time. February 13, 2013

Great Multi-purpose short I had just got these in and wanted to give them a try. Some of my friends were going for a 5 mile run, so I decided to join in while wearing these shorts. I was amazed at how comfortable they were. Our 5 miler turned into an 8 miler and I still had NO ISSUES with them. I was very impressed, and yes, I do recommend them! February 10, 2013
As Advertised Very functional, kept cool in a hot 86 degree Florida day, fully functional cargo packets to keep things safe. Used at Disneyworld and was perfect with all the stuff you need to carry around for twelve hours. Very Lightweight! Talk about packing light. Fit was very good, the long pants version was very snug in the crotch area and was just as good. February 9, 2013
Perfect fit Bought the 12" for my husband. They fit perfectly and look great. My only issue, albeit small, is the online colors are hard to differentiate. Gravel? Grill? I chose gravel, which is a dark gray-green. Black would be nice. November 29, 2012

Great for tall men I bought these for a man who i s 6' tall, and they came just to his knees, which is what he was hoping for. It's not always easy to find 12" inseam shorts. They were trim, not too baggy and look great on him. Only wish they had been available in black. September 17, 2012

Great fit. Neat Looking. Bought this for my husband because they were very light weight. Once he started wearing them, we saw so much more. They are very packable when space is at a premium; they can be spot washed, so more then one pair is not necessary; they can be worn for every occasion from active wear to leisure and still look very good August 23, 2012
shorts are ok The shorts are comfortable and true to size. I have only washed them twice so I cannot speak to durability. I would like the legs to be a little looser and it is a tad difficult to get the belt out of the belt loops.Otherwise, I am very pleased. August 15, 2012
