Men’s Lhotse Mountain™ II Interchange Jacket – Tall 4.1 5 43 43
a true winter jacket that fits true to size! I was skeptical at first on whether I should purchase this jacket because the reviews seem very conflicting. but after going into Columbia and trying on the jacket trying to find the right size cause I'm 6'4, I asked a few associates on their recommendation as to which jacket will keep me warm in sub zero weather but is not too heavy and they all went with this jacket because apparently it's their top seller and they sell it year round. With the associate's recommendation I went with the XLT in case I every needed to layer up underneath. The side pockets are a little high which takes some getting use to but run deep so you can stuff your gloves and hat in one and use the other for something else. Now as far as warmth goes, this is where the omni heat really does wonders: depending on the weather and city you live in, essentially the omni heat just keeps the warmth from escaping your jacket. Everyone's body temperature is different so when you're indoors you may still keep the jacket on and the omni heat adjusts your body temp leaving you warm, but not too warm so if you run hot really quickly, take the jacket off. This jacket is waterproof so like Chicago weather it fluctuates from snow and rain and sometimes both so that helps. Another great feature is that it's breathable, if you get the right size, you're able to move about freely so if you happen to drop your phone or need to tie your shoe you can bend over and not have to worry about the jacket tearing. I had this jacket for 5 weeks but waited to write a review so I can test it in sub zero weather with wind chills and boy does it work, only thing is if you're slender like me you will need to layer up underneath, nothing fancy like a vest or sweater/hoodie, a simple long sleeve will do. I tried the jacket on with a t-shirt underneath and the wind slightly penetrated through the outer shell but not as much, so I hardly felt it. I hope this review helped with any concerns you guys may have had but this jacket is only for a select few. Some people require more pockets because they go hiking or snowboarding a lot in which case purchase a backpack but I use it for work and school (everyday use). I'm going to be honest because I know purchasing "the right" jacket can be a hassle. But if you're looking for a jacket that will keep you warm and is not too heavy (lightweight), the Lhotse is the only jacket in Columbia's inventory that I believe will get the job done January 7, 2015
Needs WAY more zippered pockets I bought this for my uncle. He didn't like it because it didn't have enough pockets. For an outdoor sports jacket it should have had a billion zippered pockets to accommodate the needs of people who need to store tons of things on their person without losing them if they dug for them out in the freezing cold (i.e. lighter, gloves, extra face mask, snack, bait, etc., etc.,). I am looking to buy another jacket and wanted to return this one, but by the time my uncle expressed his views on this jacket he had already taken off all the tags on this jacket. If he didn't like the jacket he should've kept the tags on so that I could return it, but I guess he didn't want to hurt my feelings. He is wearing it now so that I don't get more upset. With that being said, COLUMBIA please make more large zippered pockets for ALL your jackets. I think most men love lots of large and secure zippered pockets, but I think that would make the jacket cost considerably more because of the extra labor and material going into it. But I don't mind paying the extra if the pockets are abundant because it makes the jacket SUPER functional AND warm. My brother has a jacket from Columbia too and it has a gazillion zippered pockets one on each side of his chest and one on the inside and 2 in the inner lining and the two regular ones by his waist. The balance of having one pocket on each side was perfect because you don't want a jacket with one pocket on one side since human bodies are symmetrical, the function of the jacket should match our body shapes and allow for maximum functionality. In any event, my brother expressed that he also loved pockets and so he understands how my uncle feels. So bottom line up front, please get rid of your one diagonal chest pocket design and replace all your jackets with the duo vertical chest or duo horizontal chest zippered pocket design. Your customers will love you for this. I only bought this jacket because of the rave reviews by other customers, but now I know better and need to ask my uncle first before I buy anything for him in the future because he is a selective individual but with good reason. I love your Columbia brand, but make more zippered pockets on your jackets and I will buy more jackets for my family members, otherwise I will need to look elsewhere to make future extreme weather outdoor jacket investments. Too small I had bought the 3xt for my dad who had an older version if this type of jacket. I measured his old coat (which fits) and it matched the listed measurements but when we got the coat it was at least 5 inches smaller in the waist then the older version so we returned it December 23, 2014
Great Fit! This coat fits great! I am 6'6" and have long arms. The only negative is that in Northern Wisconsin it doesn't seem warm enough. The body portion where the silver dots are stays warm but the arms get cold. It will be great for those late fall and early spring days. December 20, 2014
Just what I wanted I wanted a coat that was both wind proof and warm. This jacket was beyond my expectation. I have tried MANY others, but none have satisfied like this coat. December 19, 2014
Very Good Jacket Very functional jacket, I really like it. December 18, 2014
Great Northern Wisconsin winter coat Purchased this coat for my son as an early Christmas gift. He loves it. Fits true to size and looks great on him. Purchased a tall because my son has long arms. He says it's very comfortable and is keeping him warm in our frozen tundra. Would recommend - great quality. December 4, 2014
Too short on waist and runs small I wanted to replace my old Columbia 3 in 1 jacket (love it) so I bought this one thinking it would have been a bit longer. I like my winter jacket to cover my lower waist and backside. Even with ordering a tall size, this one wasn't long enough. Wish it was 3-4 inches longer at the waist. When your outside clearing snow (using a snow blower) I want that extra protection. Unfortunatly Columbia doesn't offer a selection of longer winter jackets. Everything is mid waist so unfortunately I'm returning this one for a refund and will be looking elsewhere. November 20, 2014
Excellent Jacket I use for hunting from Florida to the west. I can use in all but warmest climates and also coldest. I originally bought a 2X but it was far too small under the arms. This item should be sized larger as some may want additional layers. Order one size larger than normal and you'll be happy, warm and dry! November 16, 2014
Excellent Jacket I just received the jacket about two weeks ago. It passed its first test today. I live in Omaha and the temperature is in the low 20s , with wind chills down around Zero. The jacket was very warm. The jacket is very well made, worth every penny. This is my second Columbia jacket. I love the feature that it is waterproof. The silver dot reflective material seems very effective. I especially like the zip out liner. November 12, 2014
Great Jacket I've been looking to upgrade my Columbia ski clothing for the last 3 years, but having difficulty finding products that fit in the local shops. I'm 6"7" & 275 lbs., so finding ski clothing that fits and functions well is difficult. I reviewed all the options on the Columbia website and couldn't make a decision, until I saw the jacket at a local ski shop. I like what I saw and placed the order that night, taking the recommendation to order one size larger into account. I received the jacket and was on the slopes two days later. The jacket fit great, was warm and I'm very pleased with the product. The only minor suggestion would be the zippers on the side pockets are long and go almost to the neckline. These are difficult too reach because they open from the top. Oh yea, I also purchased the Bugaboo ski pants from Columbia at Christmas time. I love your products, especially the fact that you cater to the tall consumer. April 10, 2014
Love it. Hubby loves his new coat. I did ask about what color - but I chose the rest and he is loving his new coat. Keeps him very warm. Just a very nice purchase. March 10, 2014
Big & Tall I had a Columbia jacket and after 8 years I decided it was time for a new one. Being 6'4 and 300lbs I had always loved the fit of my previous 3XLT Columbia jacket. This is a lot smaller (length and width). It's also definitely designed to be active in. The "Omni-heat" technology is for reflecting your own body heat back, but for just casual wear if you're not generating a lot of your own heat it feels a little chilly. It's nice that you can wear it and not overheat and it vents well but for just wearing to and from work could be warmer. The quality is great and if you work or play a lot outside it would be great. February 13, 2014
Check size Love the jacket, need size bigger February 5, 2014
Perfect ! Just skied on the north shore of MN... 40 mph winds, a high of -6 below zero. The jacket performed perfectly... with it's wind jammers on the shell and the liner, you are assured to be dry and warm. The Omni-heat system is truely incredible.... very warm! Though, I wish the liner (Omni-Heat) had a zippable arm pit vent like the shell. Thank you for creating a wonderful jacket. January 30, 2014
Weak Zipper construction I purchased this coat for my son who needed something extremely warm for the Chicago winter. Within 3 weeks of his wearing it, the zipper detached from the jacket, leaving a gaping hole. His previous coat was a Lands End that he has had for 3 years without a problem, we just wanted him to have a better one. Apparently, this was not the one. I will be contacting the company for a refund or exchange. January 25, 2014
Great for Tall and Thin too I didn't know if the jacket would fit me because I am 6'4 and thin. Usually jackets are too big, but this one fits me great. The inner jacket is really warm and fits super. So for the tall and thin, it is working well for me. January 21, 2014
This coat is more than I expected It does everything and more, great deep pockets and great zipper that works, this is by far the best coat I ever purchased. January 5, 2014
trying to find a BIG/TALL jacket! ok was so thankful to find this jacket. I am 6'5" and 300 lbs, and fairly athletic for a 57 year old. i first ordered the 3XT and was too small. my chest is 50" and sleeve length 39", and ususally 3xt is fine [if seleeves long enough]. when i saw that this came in 4xt i tried it with the Bugaboo and Whirlibird as well. Those two were too tight but the Lhotse had more movement [i wanted this primarily for skiing in colorado]. And i've used it and it it kept me pretty warm without getting overheated. January 4, 2014
update to a previous review I reviewed this coat earlier today, but here is a direct quote from my son, the recipient: It is very toasty! Unbelievably awesome jacket... definitely my favorite I have ever had. December 31, 2013
Excellent quality and fit, and VERY warm I purchased this coat as part of my son's Christmas gifts. He is 6'6", so I chose the 2xTall. The sleeves and shoulders fit perfectly, and he really liked the length...it hits the upper tops of his legs so no chilly waist exposure with this one! Very nice looking, and it will definitely keep him warm when he is outside shoveling snow or building snowmen with his children. December 31, 2013
Can't believe how warm this jacket is! I have owned several columbia jackets, and new that it would be well made and warm. I was surprised at how warm the reflective technology on the inside really made it. I wore it outside in Michigan and had to open the vents (it was 18 degrees out). I was forewarned about the sizing being small, so I ordered at XXL Tall, (I normally wear an XL with some room left over), and it fits well. December 30, 2013
Great Jacket Was A gift for my husband he loved it December 29, 2013
Great Product At 6'4 230 lbs would definitly recomend getting the xlt size fits like it should. Arms fit just right not to tight around the chest. Very warm and Light weight. December 23, 2013
Finally, a winter coat that fits, is light weight and is very warm I am 6'4" and ware a size XXLTall. From various reviews it was suggested to order one size up. So my Red Lhotse Mt. II coat 3XLT arrives, ( on sale for the Holidays) and we get 5 inches of snow. It was great. Long enough in the sleeves and length. Lots of pockets, zippers, velcro closings, a detachable hood, and nylon stretch material around each wrist to keep out the cold and snow. All in all, a good purchase. December 18, 2013
So Far It is GREAT! Have had the Jacket only a week but I am very impressed. 6'7" so ordered the 2XT. Sleeves are long and it fits me very good. Worn it in sleet and rain, love the thing. Today I was downloading deer cameras on 4 wheeler riding in mist and light rain and the Jacket is better than I expected, very warm and comfortable. Highly recommend this Jacket/Coat. December 14, 2013
Runs small not for winter Not what I expected to get for the high price. I plan to return it and get something else December 12, 2013
Good coat I read reviews and it does run a bit small. I'm normally a xlt so I ordered the 2xlt and it fits well. It came with a torn interior pocket but otherwise seems like a good product. December 12, 2013
Versitile product The sizing is accurate. The tall size is nice since I am a XLT. With the cool fall mornings I have been wearing the inner shell waiting for the showers to come. October 25, 2013
Extremely nice coat but runs small in size I bought this coat for my husband because he was in need of a new Columbia coat. Most of the clothes he wears are 3xlt and so is his current Columbia jacket. When I received this jacket in the mail, he tried it on and it was snug. I am not sure if it's because of the Omni heat so that is how it is supposed to be but my husband is not happy with it. I am sending it back on Friday. Not sure if the 4xt will be better. I don't want to keep paying shipping back and forth until we find something that does work. October 2, 2013
Amazing Value I bought one of these for a trip to Bemidji, Minesota and after reading the reviews online I am glad I went a full size up as it is very small. Excellent build quality and design. At 6' 3" 290 and strong it is hard to find thigs that fit my frame. I have a 54" chest and a 40" waist I am happy with this product. March 14, 2013
Really Warm Jacket!!!! This jacket is extremely warm! I live in Michigan and when I wear it outside it keeps me really warm! It has an inner liner that can be worn as a lighter weight jacket as well. The only knock I can think of is it collects some cat hair but not enough to be concerned about. Great jacket! February 19, 2013
too small I've purchase the Men’s Bugaboo in 3xlt a year ago and it fits snug but wearable. I recently purchase Bugaboo™ Interchange Jacket – Tall in 4XLT and fits great at the same time I purchase the Lhotse Mountain II jacket. It was so small I could not bring my arms up to my face it was so tight around my shoulders. It felt like I was trying to get into a small 2Xlt jacket let alone a 4XLT that I order. Columbia return policy is great. I took it to a local shop and was able to return. February 15, 2013
Fantastic Jacket for Winter in the Mountains (or anywhere else) The Lhotse Mountain II Interchange jacket is very impressive. In my first few weeks with it, this jacket performed exceptionally well in a wide range of conditions and winter activities in the mountains of Utah in January: 1. Hunting chukar along the Oquirrh Range at an elevation of 5,000 feet in 18 inches of snow and temperatures in the 20s F. 2. Skiing in the Wasatch Mountains at 10,000 feet with temperatures in the teens, bitter gusty winds, and intermittent snowfall. 3. Snow shoeing in Big Cottonwood Canyon at 8,000 feet with single digit Fahrenheit temperatures. The heat-reflecting Omni-Heat insulated liner jacket really works to maintain body heat in cold conditions! The soft cuffs that protect your wrists from snow and cold are a great feature, too. The soft fleece lining around the neck and chin are especially welcome on frigid, windy days when you are zipped to the top and snapped up. It's also a great winter rain layer in Coastal California, where it has kept me completely dry in the relentless rain of big Pacific storms. My only complaint is that the hood is a little small for going over a big (L or XL) helmet. It gets the job done, but it's tight. Since the hood zips off anyway, I'd love to see it sold with 2 hoods--one big one for going fully over a large ski helmet and another smaller one to be tight to the head for rainy days. Ideally I'd like a hood a bit smaller than the one it comes with and a second hood much larger for helmets. This shell and liner interchange jacket system replaced an older North Face one I'd worn on 5 continents over 15 years. So far the Columbia Lhotse Mountain II is clearly superior. January 11, 2013
Nice Jacket After looking at a lot of options, I chose to buy this one. First I will say that it is a good value. Second that it is well made and functions well in colder environments. Having access to tall sizes is a real benefit. For someone 6'4" and ~200 lbs., the LT fits very well. (I can't comment on the fit of other sizes.) It is true to size. I like the appearance too. My only concern is the ability of the sleeves to remain as one unit. They tend to pull back when I take the jacket off. This is easy to remedy as I simply push them back in place. But it is a minor irritant. There is a very nice use of pockets throughout. The closures all seem to be top notch. All in all, this is a very nice jacket. I strongly recommend it. My rating would have been 5 in all regards except for the minor issue with the sleeves. So go ahead and buy this jacket for cold weather. You will be glad you did. By the way, although not "free" the shipping T&C's from Columbia are fair & reasonable. However, I paid for two day delivery because I needed the jacket ASAP. It took 3 business days to get to me. Again a fairly minor issue. But I feel like I wasted my additional money. I suggest you select the lowest cost shipping method. It should be adequate. January 11, 2013
I love this jacket. I brought this jacket in a 4x Tall for my husband for Christmas. He loves this jacket because it fix nice and not big bulky like other jackets. The jackets keep him warm on cold weather days and he can remove the internal jacket for those warmer days. He can even drive in this jacket which he has never done before. January 9, 2013
The sleeves fit... I have a hard time buying shirts and jackets because my arms are so long. I wear a 39 inch sleeve length in dress shirts. For other sizing reference, I'm 6'4 and 210 lbs with broad shoulders and a narrow 34" waist. I tend to find that size large items can be tight around the shoulders/chest, but size XL runs waaayyy too big around the stomach. The size Large Tall in this jacket fits me well. The sleeves are long eough that they can tuck into the cuff of my ski gloves. The shoulders and chest aren't too tight, and the stomach area isn't too big... a nice athletic fit. The omni heat is no gimmick... it really does work. I wear the inner jacket liner seperately as an around-town jacket, and then under the shell while skiing. I ski around 40 days/year... this is my primary ski jacket. The jacket has proven to be waterproof thus far... I've skied in the rain and under snow guns with it. There are a few things I don't like. The powder skirt and interior pockets are built into the shell, but are not accessible if the liner is snapped into place, which means you end up wearing the liner and the shell as two seperate layers. Also, the exterior front pockets on the shell are up too high to use as handwarmer pockets. They're big and have a lot of capacity, but don't expect to walk around town with your hands in your pocket. Don't know what they were thinking there. The liner jacket has a weird cuff thing going on.. I think it's meant to keep snow out, but it looks like you have a shirt sleeve sticking out of your jacket. Lastly, I wish the tall sizes came in some brighter and more modern color schemes. I got the "Deep Woods" color, which is a dark green, and it's the only "color" they offer (otherwise it's grey or black). I paired it with some orange ski pants to liven up the look a bit, but would have preferred a brighter color jacket. December 26, 2012
Understated high performance Had to wait for some sub 20 weather to be able to really qualify the coat, but a week in the low teens has come and gone without a shiver. Very warm (in fact until it goes below freezing, it's too warm for me), but not too bulky. A little noisy at first, but as it breaks in, it is getting more quiet. It is absolutely 100% waterproof, very good at completely stopping the wind, and every opening seals well to keep warmth in. The color is understated, not loud or gaudy, and the coat is wearable in nearly any setting. Bright colors and wild or overly vivid patterns are not something I'd buy for every day wear, so a 'toned down' but still very warm coat was what I wanted; this is it. The liner alone at first seemed to fit a little snug, but the seal with the shell is great it keeps me toasty warm without restricting movement. The omniheat works so well I've bought two more coats with it for one son and my wife - we're sold. I can't speak to the durability yet, but every other piece of Columbia gear we've owned has been excellent, and so far, nothing indicates that this coat will be any different. 6 ft and 200 in a XL Tall - followed advice of other reviewers and stayed with the XL instead of a L and glad I did. Long enough to cover some seat, sleeves are perfect, jacket big enough but not baggy - very good fit with a base layer, a heavy outfitter's shirt and the liner. Ample pockets - all zip, chest slash is handy. Would surely buy again. December 11, 2012
Nice jacket, but mystery color didn't match I bought this jacket (mystery color) thinking it was grey, but this jacket is more greenish. Also, it has blue parts, that are not visible at the pictures. I was disappointed with my purchase and I had to return it. December 1, 2012
so far so good! good quality. expect warmth and longevity. November 27, 2012
Sizes run small through the chest and upper arms. This is a nice jacket, but the sizing is off. I've been buying Columbia XL Tall sized jackets for probably 20 years. This is the first one that didn't fit right. The overall length was good, the sleeves fit perfect, but the chest and upper arms were too night and arm motion was very restricted. Based on other reviews it seems to be a problem with this line. I'm afraid to order the XXL Tall because according to Columbia's size charts the sleeves are another inch longer. What a bummer. I would consider trying the XXL regular, but according to some other websites, the Columbia Tall sized jackets run 33.5" in length (back of neck to base of coat) while the regulars run 30.5". Losing 3 inches on the length would not work for me, as I like the coat to be longer than sweaters, fleece, and other clothing items worn underneath. November 12, 2012
Awesome jacket, but... I bought this jacket for my husband who is a rather large man. Probably around a 3XL tall man. I bought the 4XLT jacket thinking he would have extra room. Nope, the man is picky, annoyingly picky, but the shoulders were snug and the weird thing is the elbows were snug too...like he could not bend his arms. The jacket itself is awesome and I knew it would be great for our fridged Wisconsin winters, but the sizing is not right through out the whole jacket. The waist, the length were all good, just oddly tight in strange areas. I returned the jacket, because of sizing issues and because on the internet the jacket looks two tone, black and forest green. But when you actually see it, its all green. I told the customer service agent this when I returned it, so I see they have updated the photo. I have ordered another Columbia jacket ordered. I hoping my picky husband like this one....=) November 10, 2012
Great fitting very versatile coat. After looking for over a year we found this coat for my husband who is an extra large tall with long arms. This coat fits perfectly and with all of the options of taking out layers this will function really well for our crazy weather here in Washington. November 5, 2012
