Rated 5 out of 5 by Warmer than expected! What a great jacket. So light yet it is amazingly warm. Used it for four days of skiing. Started out cold in the morning (about 28 degrees) and warmed in the afternoon to almost 50 degrees. The jacket was warm in the morning and not too heavy as the day went on. February 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Light and functional I have a large Down Columbis jacket for extreme cold. This lightweight down jacket fits nicely as a warm travel coat. Great to take along on hikes where temperatures vary. Easy to pack for work trips in a carry on bag. The other light weight jacket I tried had sleeves that were too long and was tight in the armpits. This coat fits much better. February 24, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Fit is Off... Awesome jacket! The material was top notch but the fit is horrible. The jacket fit good in the body but the sleeves were so tight I couldn't bend my arms. February 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Initial impression: excellent My first impression is that it is a warm jacket, extremely light and pretty smart, but I have to see how it fares over the long run. February 4, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Surprisingly warm This jacket is surprisingly warm for it's weight. I was really expecting to be cold, given how light the jacket is and how little bulk there is to it. But I'm very happy with it. January 31, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lightweight but warm I wore this on a blustery morning hike on varied terrain. I stayed warm, even with windchills of 10 degrees and lower. It was light enough and compressible enough to cram in my daypack when temps rose into the 40s. It even shed briars well. January 26, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Nice coat Great coat, order up a size or 2! January 23, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Powder Fly Down Great under jacket. This down sweater is tops. I ski 100+ days a year and this is an essential piece of clothing to help keep me warm and it is good looking. December 30, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Cold weather Bought this to try a different style of coat. I have owned 2 of the 3 in 1 coats and loved them. This new coat is warm , light and when my wife drags me to the mall it packs up. Very nice feature with a child in a stroller and all the other fun stuff that comes with. Warmth wise sat out at the bus stop multiple times in weather with wind and temps below 20 and it did as well as my old coats. Columbia always has made good coats and this in another one. Rated 2 out of 5 by Over-sized Fit The jacket came larger than expected, I am typically an XXL for winter jackets. However, I should have ordered a XL. December 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent! My first time wearing this jacket one Saturday evening a couple of weeks ago in the evening while walking to a Christmas party at the other end of town.. A fresh snow had just fallen and the temperature was in the mid teens. Under this jacket I wore only a light weight fleece and a T shirt. I felt nothing coming thru this jacket. Today's weather was 27 degrees with winds at 10mph and gusts up to 15mph. It was damp and overcast. I wore this jacket out on a walk around town with only a lightweight fleece underneath and no T shirt. I zipped up the collar all the way and parked it in the zipper garage. I tightened up the draw cord at the bottom. i could feel nothing, no wind, through this jacket. None whatsoever! Instead I felt warmth radiate back to my body from the Omni-heat. This is a great jacket indeed. I am usually an XL but as with all Columbia products, they run small. I purchased this jacket in a XXL. It is a little longer in the sleeves and length than I'd like, but I'm good to go with it the way it is. Thank you for making such a fine product. Just bought one as a Christmas gift for my son. Hope he appreciates it as much as I do. December 15, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Maybe works as an inner layer or milder climate This coat was not at all what was expected. With the 800 down fill rating, the Omni-heat reflective lining, and the description as "super warm," the implication was that this lightweight product would work in very cold weather. Don't expect it to work at zero deg. as a stand-alone, because it doesn't. It didn't even work as a good windbreaker. Nice idea, but needs work. December 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent choice for cold, harsh winter. Great choice! I received this jacket for Christmas a year ago and since then have been able to put it through a large variety of temperature and weather changes. For example, over this past weekend I wore it through below zero temperatures with wind and snow with a 1/4 zip fleece underneath. The protection was great - I was kept quite warm (relatively as can be in below zero temps) and the snow was brushed off with minimal dampness leftover. Overall there have been very few feathers poking out on the seams, but it does happen infrequently like other down jackets I have encountered and owned myself. The material has yet to rip, is quite strong, and feels essentially weightless. I would absolutely buy this jacket again, as its main selling points to me are the warmth provided in Midwest winters, the lightweight and comfortable feel, and the attractive design. I'm not much of an "adventurer", but I do wear it around town and walking the 15min trek to class each day. I recommend getting it in black - it has received numerous compliments! December 9, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Unbelievable good! It's amazing that a coat that weighs this little can provide this much warmth. I was actually shocked at how warm I was on a cold, windy, Minnesota day. The true test will be to see how it handles temps around zero and below, but I have no doubt that it'll do just fine. Highly recommend this coat to anyone who has to spend more than a few minutes a day outdoors in the winter. November 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just what I wanted This is exactly what I expected. It's light but warm and looks great. November 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good It is very good for such a long winter, lightweight, thin but warm. November 12, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product has great features Definetly keeps you warm November 10, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Green jacket I don't really like the color, but so far the jacket is fine. It hasn't gotten really cold yet here in Chicago. November 1, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not what I expected Got the jacket on the outlet for substantially less than regular price. Jacket is only warm enough if it's above freezing. Not nearly as warm as the way they describe it. I have a columbia omni heat fleece and it's as warm if not warmer then this supposed 800 down fill jacket. Living in Chicago I would never make it through the winter with this jacket, so I passed it along to my mom who lives in southern Indiana where it's not quite as cold. Was disappointed I expected more from this jacket. October 28, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Did it again last year the shoulders were too boxy, This year, you fixed that. The down side is that you put all that fabric back into the arms, so the arms are too bulky and the body of the jacket runs to small. This product would be perfect for someone 6ft 5 and skinny as a rail. August 8, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by A Little Small The overall quality of the jacket is excellent, but this time the fit ran small. This is strange because last year the same jacket, same size, in black fit great. February 24, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Ebony Blue This color looks like PURPLE!!! The jacket is good quality. The sleeves are a little wide, but the body fits well for a Medium. I am 5'10 165lbs. February 22, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Hype - not warmth The jacket may be 800 fill, but it has no weight which means it isn't going to work on very cold days. I bought this to act as a softshell inside an outer coat, and at 15 degrees F, didn't do much. Style wise - it's a the standard baggy large - not fitted at all. To me, not worth the price. Rated 5 out of 5 by Cold CT weather no match for this Lightweight Jacket Stylish, lightweight, and practical. This is the first jacket I've ever worn that also brought me unsolicited 'style' compliments. It works... the cold is stopped without wearing 50lbs of clothing layers. January 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Powerfly This is a very nice jacket. It is super warm yet breathes very well. I have received a ton of compliments on the style and color. December 17, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by lightweight and waterproof This jacket is very lightweight, but it is warm enough if you wear layers for a wisconsin winter, lots of compliments on it, good job Columbia. December 8, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by i heart omni heat This is a good jacket. I wish it had the neoprene fitted cuffs. Nice weight, low bulk. December 6, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Perfect Mid Layer to Put Under Your Shell Super light weight and Comfortable. Fits well if you size down for layering. Cut well, not boxy like some brands. I like the narrow baffles, keeps piece from looking too bulky. Warmer than my other 800 fill down sweater I purchased a year ago. The omni-heat layer does seem to make a big difference. Only complaint is the sleeves are a little short. Could use some thumb holes at the end of the sleeves like some other brands. This would help the sleeves from riding up when using the piece under my shell and give extra coverage over my hands when I'm not wearing gloves. Some loose threads on the pice, which could be a problem down the line if they come loose. Over all I really enjoy the product but would not pay full retail for it. November 30, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great coat but M runs small while L runs big The coat is essentially as described, very warm, lightweight, and of excellent construction and quality. The color is exactly what I wanted and expected, and true to the appearance on the website. Unfortunately the issue I had with it is sizing. I wear a medium size coat typically at 5'9" and a slender 155 lbs, but the medium size was very tight around waist and in particular in the armpit. I didn't feel comfortable with just a sweatshirt on, much less wearing layers. The large size came next and it is actually a little big overall especially when worn without having on heavy clothing underneath, but I've kept it anyway because it is comfortable when layering up clothing and having on a sweater or sweatshirt underneath. When purchasing, just beware that the M size fits very small while the L size fits larger than expected. November 26, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Crazy Warm Crazy warm sums it up. Omni heat + down results in a warm, warm jacket. I don't suggest wearing the jacket during highly aerobic activities because a) that's not really what down is for and b) it's too warm. But when you are done or don't plan on sweating and want to be warm - wear this. Note: the mens medium runs a little tight for a 42 chest/35 sleeve length but the body is true to size. Rated 5 out of 5 by Columbia has a knack for creating a great jacket. They pay a lot of attention to function and seem to get the form just right. Haven't had the opportunity to test the coat in the cold, but it appears to be the "ultra light" and yet warm layer that I was looking for. September 26, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Hot Jacket With Issues This jacket is extreamly hot, it keeps me warm and it's definitely waterproof and wind resistance. The only problem is the feathers that's constantly coming out of the jacket. This would be my second time wearing the jacket and the feathers are getting much more worser. Again, the jacket proforance is excellent, it's just the problem with the feathers. I do not reccomand because why pay so much for this jacket and feathers are coming out! Really? So my next step is sending it to the warrenty department and hopefully I'll be able to exchange for another jacket or fleece. September 25, 2012
