Men’s Ptarmigan™ Interchange Parka is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Upland Jacket The Ptarmagin upland series jacket is an excellent jacket for both the early season and late season here in Wisconsin. The jacket itself has a zip out fleece vest with a nice fleec collar for comfort on cold days. The cuffs allow the user to velcro them closed to your comfort or liking. The jacket runs large which is good and allows me to adjust the layering of my clothes underneath. The game pouch is nicely sized and lined to keep dirt, blood, birds contained. Plenty of room for a dozen pheasant. pockets on the jacket front are large enough to hold a box of 12 gauge shells and then some. Other pockets allow for easy stowage of a dog collar controller without being bulky. The jacket allows for easy and clean mounts of your firearm with no annoying bunching of the sleeves and sleeve to chest area. It also moves with you and does not hang up when crouching or contorting through heavy brush. The blaze orange is very visible from long distances to help keep you safe when hunting near others. For warmer days the fleece vest works nicely keeping you warm but never too hot. It holds up well to briars and heavy brush if you are a pheasant or grouse hunter. The coat is probably one of the best made over other higher catalog brands out there at a reasonable price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love the jacket but...... This jacket is great. There are two front pouches and then two real pockets above that. The pockets sit high and are very comfortable when walking the field. There is a place for your collar remote and a little clip for a lanyard. There is a fleece interior vest that is removable and the sleeves zip off which I thought was genius. The game pouch is very accessible from the front and the back zips all the way open for easy cleaning. The stitching for the right front pouch became undone on the first use leaving a big hole in the pocket. I like the jacket well enough to give it another shot though. I'll return and get the same product and hopefully will revisit this review to update my overall rating. I have a closet full of Columbia with no issues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Jacket. Runs Big This is a great 3 in 1 jacket. Very durable and functional. The only problem is that I'm 6' 2", 200 lbs and the Large is a little large for me. It's a little wide on the shoulders and a little long. I like the length in the back (covers the butt) but in the front, you end up "kicking" the shells in the box of the front pocket when you walk. I wish the pockets had a flip out elastic shell holder so I would not have to have a loud box kicking around. I can't return it for a medium because I already embroidered a logo onto the jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ptarmigan Review From the time I purchased this coat until the current day, I am still pleased with it. I've been out pheasant hunting on numerous occasions and the coat has held up. It's got ample storage in the game pouches, and the quality of the materials is very good. There are some things I would add to this coat to really set it over the top. In older versions of the Ptarmigan, the pockets had elastic shell holders sewn into the coat, this newer version doesn't have it so it makes retreiving shells to reload the magazine with a little more tricky. Also, for cold weather, there's only a vest under the outer layer of the coat. I have an interchange Columbia for my winter coat, and I use my liner for both my ptarmigan and my winter coat, but it'd be nice if Columbia sold a blaze orange, long-sleeved, fleece liner to go along with this spectacular coat for when the temperatures really bottom out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from quail slaying jacket Although the original price is way overpriced, once it went on sale it was a great deal. very happy with the jacket. it is extremely durable against mesquite, cactus, etc. in west Texas country. It is very warm, but, if you get too hot you can strip away the inner liner or even make it into a vest. Very happy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ptarmigan jacket. Nice jacket with a lot of features HOWEVER, it is too heavy. I would not want to be wearing this while pheasant or quail hunting. It would be too heavy and hot while walking thru thick grass or cornfields. I enjoy Columbia products but I think they have this one wrong. I believe this jacket alone weighs more than my widgeon parka, down liner and bibs. A lightweight version would be much more practical for my use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for the guy that hunts in briars or brush My first impression of this jacket was pure excitement. I thought I'd finally found the ultimate upland jacket. I hunt rabbits in very thick briars and after the 3rd day all the stitching on the front of the jacket was shredded. I think the stitching used in bandanas is tougher that what was used in this jacket. I have several garments from Columbia and have always been pleased, but I think the field testers for this one simple took a walk down some nature trail and said this is good to go. I doubt any real upland hunter tested this thing. Then to top it all off Columbia issued me a credit. What will I do with a credit? I need a hunting jacket and Columbia only has one and well I guess that's out. And I'm out $226 unless I decide to take up skiing.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Field Hunting I wore this jacket pheasant hunting it worked great. Kept me warm and mobile on a cold and windy day. Also, it has plenty of storage for game that you bag throughout the day. My brother has the same jacket and loves it as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Time Tested I purchased my first Columbia hunting Jacket in the mid 90's and it has served me flawlessly. It gave me great pleasure to purchase another jacket some 20 years later for my son. The jacket is of the same quality and hope he enjoys it as much I appreciated mine. Jackets do fit big and you can where heavy close underneath for those colder days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for hunting! I have the Columbia coat that is similar to this one for fishing. I got this one as my pheasant and duck hunting coat. It has the same attention to details and great fit that my other coat has. The coat is nice and warm and comfortable. I like all the extra little details like zipped pockets and velcro sleeves. Being able to break it down to a vest coat is like having two coats in one. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Took this coat to the panhandle of Texas to pheasant hunt. I liked the versatility of the coat. It ended up snowing 7" inches, the coat was very warm and dry. Would recommend the coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Upland Game Jacket The jacket is very well made. It is good for colder hunts. Started out hunting the jacket and fleece vest. By the end of the hunt I was wearing the game vest only. The jacket does run slightly large. I am 6'3" 230 lbs. and this fit perfect. An XL would have fit fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice Upland Game Hunting Coat I was impressed with quality, appearance, and versatility. It looks like it should last many hunting seasons. The blaze orange is a good idea - helps others in the field keep track of you, including any big game hunters lurking about! Very pleased with this purchase so far!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great choice! I love this parka...I only wish I could keep it! I tried really hard to find a reason to have two jackets seeing as I had a reasonably good one but I couldn't comfortably justify keeping it. Much dismayed, I returned it. It did fit extremely well! I am about 5'5.5 and weigh about 125lbs so the small was perfect and I have wider shoulders for my size. I really wish I could have kept it but just couldn't justify the expense seeing as I really needed pants more than the jacket. I just know down the road I will be kicking myself for not keeping it, so Columbia, please keep this one, especially with a small option for us ladies!!! I will buy it when my current jacket is no longer viable!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous! This is the best upland hunting coat on the market, hands down. Another review said that it was very large for the size. I didn't notice that. What I did notice was that it was cut generously in the sleeves and the length. I like that. Freedom of motion is a must when swinging to a quick flushing bird, I feel the cut is perfect for that. Tough, durable fabric will take a beating and keep those briars and other nasties away from your skin. Sleeves come off, fleece comes out, this jacket is all you need for the entire season. Here in WI, grouse season runs the gamut of conditions, mid 80s early in the season to below zero when the season closes. The real deal!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ptarmigan Interchange Parka Hands down the greatest Upland Jacket I've ever owned! I searched and searched for the past year for last seasons parka but everyone was sold out.. I now understand why! It's the most comfortable jacket with every option possible. It's the Cadillac of Upland Jakcets. Worth every penny. I would recommend this to anyone. Understand that these Jackets run extremely LARGE, more so around the waste & length! Both myself and my buddy wear XL jackets in browning, beretta, orvis, & so on. The XL swallowed us up, with no exaggeration. My brother is 6'6" 280, and it was still a little big on him. I exchanged it for a Large ( height: 6'1") and I'm beyond satisfied and hope that Columbia continues to release new models of the PARKA. Thank you for an amazing product!!
