Shorts performed well Used these kayaking and zip-lining and they were very quick to dry after getting wet. Comfortable but thought they ran a little slim in the leg for this type of activity. October 24, 2012

Silver Ridge Shorts Great all around shorts. Mostly use for fishing, keeps me cool in the 90+ degree humid NC summers. The material is light, it doesn't hold up like heavier cotton material, but that is to be expected. Highly recommend overall. October 8, 2012

big kids like them too I bought these shorts for my teenage son, who has grown out of boys' sizes. I have tried several different brands of khaki-style shorts, and I tried these because of their versatility. They can pass for khaki-looking but can function as athletic shorts. He says they are the most comfortable, most roomy and most lightweight. He has asked me to order more. I highly recommend them. August 24, 2012

very nice, quick dry material and they come out of washer like new I've bought 3 pairs total of the same, 2 are great, but the third is horrible quality control. there are clumps of material and lots of loose strings and is like Wall-Mart quality at best. Sure to fail This was my third pair of shorts in recent months and they don't seem to be any stronger than two other pairs that I've used while guiding in Alaska and Arizona. I have found similar shorts that are much stronger and better for the price point. July 26, 2012

A design change and not for the better I recently purchased a second pair of the Silver Ridge shorts.They seemed to have made subtle changes in the design that reduces the shorts functionality. The right hand wallet pocket is now two inches shallower. The belt no longer has two clasps. On further inspection the belt loops are narrower also. The bean counters at Columbia have changed the design functionality by reducing the amount of material and quality of the shorts. This seems to be the latest trend in clothing manufacturers to increase their profit margins. What a disappointment! July 6, 2012
Not the same as my last pair I had a similar pair of shorts like this and used the tag information 0n my old pair to buy the new pair. The shorts were small and not the same material. According to the tag information they were the same but you can clearly see they aren't the same. June 27, 2012

Awesome Shorts! These shorts are awesome! They keep you cool in the summer, or in my case all year round. I'm a fly fishishing guide, so I get a lot of hiking time. My only complaint is that these shorts fit me a little tighter than expected. I normaly wear a 38" shorts, but my legs are more muscular so they fit a little tight when I sit. Narrow fit I ordered these for my husband and he is a pretty trim person who wears and loves other Columbia clothing in the same size, but these shorts were so narrow that he was not comfortable sitting down in them and I returned them right away. May 15, 2012
great shorts for the heat these shorts are extremely lightweight and shed body heat very well. I wore them on a 3 day backpacking trip and never noticed anything to complain about in terms of function.The belt does seem a little on the cheap side, but a belt is a belt, and you can easily swap it out with one more to your liking.I'm 5'5'', measured my inseam myself, and it fit great. good product These are perfect for hot environments. Very comfortable, light weight and dry very quickly. Also have a convenient zippered pocket on the left leg. I'm 5'11'' and the 10" inseam is right at my knees, which I like.They do fit a tad small in my opinion and the pair I have seem to have quite a few loose strings.Overall I would recommend these and probably even buy another pair. Great shorts...but not for fjord jumping. The shorts are great and fit well but the rear pockets need a zippered closure if the shorts are really meant for the trail. The open, "blue jean" style rear pockets are useless on the trail and too shallow to securely hold a wallet in a day to day situation.Other than the pockets, I have been impressed and have ordered a second pair.
