Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 155 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Outstanding Quality Outstanding Quality Very light material Very durable I wear these while commercial fishing on the Chesapeake Bay in the summer time. Well worth the money. October 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by First Try was good Had the first hike with these last week for about 13 miles....did very well. My size was the 32/30. I had ordered a 32/32 just in case the 30s were too short, but they were not, so kept the 32/30. They were very comfortable, had plenty of flexibility while walking and climbing, and very lite...would order again. October 1, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by pant lengths I wish there were a greater choice in insane length. Getting slacks shorted is a nuisance. September 11, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by My husband's summer uniform I bought my husband a pair of these this spring, and he quickly asked for another. These two pants, with their shorts option, have gotten him through the entire summer! He's already asking for more colors for next summer. Now I'm searching for their colder weather equivalent! August 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Comfort and Stretch I wore these convertible pants hiking John Muir Trail for five days. They are light and comfortable. The difference between other shorts I've worn of this style is the slight stretch in the waste. With the included belt, I've not worn other shorts that can compare in comfort. The legs easily zip on and off and stowed away compact when temps warmed up. Also moved well when climbing over obstacles on the trail. August 23, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Skinny Pants, no mobility The pants' fitting is so snug it affects mobility. August 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wore these every day during Boy Scout Summer Camp I ordered a bunch of these to wear each day during Boy Scout Summer Camp in Northwood, NH in August 2015. The idea was to convert the pants to shorts during the day and then zip them back up at night. Temps were low 90s to low 80s during the day and mid 60s to mid 50s during the night; mostly sunny with some t-storms during the week. The pants worked out great: very light to wear, never felt hot. I used a Boy Scout web belt (and not the belt included with the pants) and had a Leatherman Surge attached to my belt the entire time. I also had a CRKT knife clipped to a pocket; both held up well on the pants. When not in use during the day I stored the zipped-off pant legs in the side pockets so I always had them with me to re-zip when needed (I didn't store much other stuff in these pockets so there was plenty of space to store the pant legs). Still trying to find a pair in color black though... August 13, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Too many " improvements" It seems that whenever I buy the same pants you have changed some of the features I really like. For example the older pair had a zippered rear pocket which is now Velcro and the colors now offered are a lot darker than previous orders. I keep rebuying them because I do like them. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great comfortable pant I wore these for a full week on a 70 mile canoe trip. They dried quickly and protected my legs. I did several day hikes and they were very comfortable. August 4, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for travel We love these pants, they are great for travel, easy to pack and good for pants and shorts. Rain or shine. Lightweight, easy care. A must have August 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for the BWCA Pants performed as described. They were a great addition to my gear for my recent trip in the Boundary Waters. Dried quickly and stood up to the rugged environment of the BWCA. July 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good fit Love these pants! I hike, bird and garden in them. July 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great pants I am 6'2 and 200 pounds. I ordered 36x34 and they fit great. I like everything about these pants- the fabric is great, they seem well made, the pockets are functional and the zip off pant feature works well. I don't know why I wore hot, bulky jeans for so long because these are far superior. These are the hiking pants you want. July 8, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by true to description I purchased these pants for an upcoming European trip so I haven't used them as planned as yet. Will say they are as advertised, nicely made, lightweight and the color is good. I suspect they will perform as desired and having not put them through their paces is the only reason I am giving them good ratings. July 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for field work Working from a kayak, I get sun protection, brush protection while out of the water, and dry pants soon after getting out. Love these pants. June 10, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Gets the job done The pants are very comfortable (without items in pockets) and durable. My favorite feature being that they dry very quickly and are very lightweight. Being convertible they are great for hot days that may include bushwhacking. Also compared to other brands the price is not bad. There downfall comes to the pockets, granted I carry lots in my pockets, but when full, the pants become really tight, due to lack of stretch, around the crotch and upper leg making movement less comfortable and more constricted. Also the tiny little belt it comes with does not do much for me and it extremely difficult to remove. May 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Look no further These are the pants you want. VERY lightweight and comfortable. I spend a lot of time out on the water during the hot summer months and these are my preferred pants. May 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by great looking pant and very comfortable I purchased these for my brother who has health issues and he loves them! Very nice fabric and quality workmanship. April 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by outdoorsman These pants fit really well. I am 6'2" 195lb. and the 34" inseam fits great. The pants are a little slim fitting and snug in the rear-end. I wore them in the rain yesterday, they got soaked, but I was dry and they dried inside in about two hours. I recommend these pants for everyday use and outdoors/hiking. April 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fits my life style!!! I love these pants. I live in sothern California with cool mornings and warm days. I play golf and these fit the bill perfectly. Easy to use and great quelity, so it last a long time. I wish they made a model that was a little heaver material for the cold mornings. March 29, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Convertible Classics Good product, great for travel, fast drying and fairly priced. The fifth pair of convertible pants I have had from several companies and is the best all around. March 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just what I needed for travel We are going on a cruise in October, 2015 and I wanted something light for packing. These serve two purposes. If it's cool, I have pants to wear. If it gets warm, I have shorts. These fit well and look good. I have two pair ready for traveling. March 9, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good summer hiking pants They fit slightly small... other than that, great pants. February 22, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Silver Ridge Convertible Lightweight, SPF built in, convertible from pants to shorts, lots of pockets, and comfy! I got both the shirt and pants. Velcro pockets scare me over long term use, but I'll see how it holds up. February 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Silver Ridge Convertible Pants I got my first pairs for a trip to Africa and learned how fabulous, comfortable and versatile they are! I spent most of my life coaching and only wish I had these pants then. I went to a football game with my wife and got caught in a fall shower. By halftime, my pants were completely dry and comfortable, while my wife's jeans were wet and miserable. I ordered my latest pair, because I just had shoulder surgery. I can wear these to work and easily get them on with my non-dominant hand. They are fabulous! January 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love these convertible pants! I purchased my first pair of Columbia convertible pants, and LOVE them. I just spent 10 days in Costa Rica, bought these pants for that adventure, and loved them. They quickly became my pants and shorts of choice for the whole trip! January 5, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Quality; tight fit for those with athletic build Adventure racers and orienteers love this pant because the ripstop sheds all the thorns, thistles and all those plants that stick to most pants. I love them for this, and they dry quickly too. However they ride a little low on the hip, the crotch is short and the thighs are a bit small. I can feel them pulling my legs when running through the woods or semi-rough open areas. I can feel them restricting my range of motion when hurdling fallen branches or tree trunks. These actions also pull the pants down, so I have to pull them up. The belt is a little thin and cuts into the skin when tightened. Overall, a nice pant for crossing through rough terrain, but they are made for the thinner crowd; not for athletic bodies (try the relaxed fit). September 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Functional & Comfortable Just bought my second pair and will probably add more colors. I love these pants. Bought them for sun protection when spending hours in an open kayak fishing. They are incredibly comfortable, even on hot days. I usually get the bottoms wet while launching, and they dry within a couple minutes. Another big plus is that it is very easy to reattach the legs, even while wearing the shorts. I've never had to struggle with the zippers. July 31, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love these pants I wore these pants to Disney during July and was very pleased with the fit and comfort. I did not get hot at all. The pockets are perfect for carrying several things. The best part was how quickly they dried after getting wet in the rain. I highly recommend these for any outdoor occasion. July 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent for the weekend. Great for cool mornings that turn warm.Fast drying and great color that can be dressed up for dinner out. Great for vacation & utilized in most activities. they're super light for warm days yet still functional for cool days. June 30, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Great...if you want to look like you're wearing Peter Pan tights. The product construction and material is very good quality. But, the designer of these pants must be uber-skinny with pencil-thin legs. I'm an average sized guy, with what I would classify as an athletic build at 6'0' 185 lbs and the legs are way to small for me to comfortably squeeze into. I bought a 34" waist, which was actually slightly large for me, but the legs are still too small for me to squeeze into. My hips and thighs look like I am wearing spandex. Restricts movement a ton. I'm going to return them and try the Blood and Guts pants, as I have heard they run bigger in the leg area. May 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by G8rgirls purchased this pant for a coworker. He works outdoors nearly everyday and loves the functionality of the pant - can be worn to indoor meetings or out in the field. Loves the convertible pant and secure pockets. (I own the women's version and feel the same!) May 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome trail pants Great for hiking, fishing, etc. All around great warm-weather pant. Quick drying rip-stop nylon. March 27, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by runs quite small Well made and functional, but my husband sent them back because they were small enough that he did not have full range of motion. He is slender and wears a 32-30 but they did not work for him. Too bad, because they were just what he wanted for a trip. March 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The only pants for fishing Lot's of pockets, rip-stop nylon to prevent tears from spreading, SPF, wicking and transition to shorts make these pants perfect for any fishing trip -- saltwater and freshwater. March 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Pants! These are my third pair. I have almost every color. They're lightweight, durable and great for vacations. They take up very little space in my suitcase. February 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Pants For Travel I travel from cold climates to warm climates on long plane rides. This will prove useful to meet the baggage weight restrictions. Good quality. February 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent for hikes / daily wear Great material good feel good wear dries easier washes well excellent value for money Trendy color looks really smart February 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect safari pants We checked several resources for convertible pants for my husband to wear on safari in Africa. Other brands ran very baggy, or had zippers at the ankle (which is great for boots, but not if you need to shorten the pants). These fit my very slim husband beautifully, looked really nice on, came in great colors, and he who never gets excited about clothes, was actually excited about these pants. Now if only I could find pants so easily! February 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Silver Ridge Convertible Pants This is a great pant--not too baggy yet very light and comfortable. I have several pair of these and wear them almost daily. They are durable, water resistant to a point, however will shrink minimally if machine dryed enough. Zippers never stick and are easy to move up, down or around. Size runs true to fit, Excellent for all outdoors except extreme cold. January 26, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Pants Great! Pants that also becomes shorts January 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Fabric & comfortable Excellent wash & feel, easy to wear & enjoy the quality...always the best from Columbia!! January 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great warm weather pant I have tried all kinds of hiking pants from various companies. This is my go-to pant now. I took 4 pair on a trip to the Caribbean recently; they worked fantastic. I have the convertible, so technically I had pants and shorts. The material is thin enough so walking in the heat is not uncomfortable - even as pants. And they are quick drying, so if you sweat or have to wash them in a hotel sink they will be dry within an hour or two. I wear a 32 waist, but had to go up to 34 as the 32 waist in this pant was just a wee bit snug. Highly recommended!! January 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The style and kind of pants my son wears. I was not able to find the style and size in the store, but was able to go on line and order the style and size, and was able to get it before Christmas, since it was a Christmas gift. Thank you for getting it here on time. December 31, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Silver Ridge Convertible Pants The pants are great. I use them for golf and wear them long in the colder mornings and then short as the day warms up. December 29, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by lightness and durability I like the lightness and durability of the material. The pockets are ample, the front zipper tracks easily, and the pants are convertible to shorts. What's troublesome is the sizing. The pants run true to form in length, but the waist and hip size are not appropriately sized for me. I had to jump to the next waist size, a 36 instead of a 34, which works well for me in most pants. December 15, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not a lot of movement I bought three of these pants for summer hiking and when the weather isn't to cold. I tried some on at REI and thought that the 36 waist was tight so I ordered the 38x34. I realized that I should have ordered the 36 waist as the 38 was to big and the belt that came with the pants doesn't stay in place when you tighten them up. There is very little movement on the upper thigh when you need to step higher when climbing. Also the lower portion needs a inner or outer zipper to allow for removal over boots. December 12, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Silver Ridge Convertible Pant Love these pants! I travel for fun a LOT and spend a lot of time in the wilderness. My clothing must be comfortable and fit well. It must be versatile. It must be durable. It has to be quick drying. It can't wrinkle easily. These pants fit the bill to a T. I bought 2 pairs. Wonderful clothing. Wonderful piece of gear. Wish they didn't cost so much but if they last 15 years, that's only $6/year. A worthy investment. Definitely a BUY. November 23, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good but could be better I like the pants overall. They seemed to fit true to size and are light weight. I have comments on 2 areas. The right cargo pocket is closed with velcro. The velcro patches are relatively small. When one has quite a few things in the right cargo pocket (or something heavier), the middle of the pocket sags and it is hard to get the velcro on the pocket flap to contact the velcro on the pocket plus it doesn't hold very well once the 2 velcro parts match up. So, a larger area of velcro on the right cargo pocket would be helpful. Also, when converting to shorts, having a zipper down the leg to better remove them over shoes/boots would be beneficial - of course, that would likely drive up the cost to add that feature. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great lightweight hiking pants for all conditions Theses are a very comfortable convertible hiking pants. They save you having to pack more in since you can zip the legs off and you have shorts hence the reason I bought them. They are light, comfy, and are also UV protected so honestly what more could you ask. Got a pair for me as well as the GF and she wears them all the time. Just make sure you use a tape measure and use the sizing instruction correctly to get the best fit as there are a lot of sizing options and you want to get the best fit, especially in the women's sizes. In the men's it's probably a good idea to go up one size if you are close, I am usually in between a 36 and a 38 waist and usually always go 38 even though the sizing chart recommended a 36 I still went with a 38 so they would be a bit more comfortable.
