Men's Silver Ridge™ Convertible Pant 4.5 5 126 126
Love these convertible pants! I purchased my first pair of Columbia convertible pants, and LOVE them. I just spent 10 days in Costa Rica, bought these pants for that adventure, and loved them. They quickly became my pants and shorts of choice for the whole trip! January 5, 2015
Good Quality; tight fit for those with athletic build Adventure racers and orienteers love this pant because the ripstop sheds all the thorns, thistles and all those plants that stick to most pants. I love them for this, and they dry quickly too. However they ride a little low on the hip, the crotch is short and the thighs are a bit small. I can feel them pulling my legs when running through the woods or semi-rough open areas. I can feel them restricting my range of motion when hurdling fallen branches or tree trunks. These actions also pull the pants down, so I have to pull them up. The belt is a little thin and cuts into the skin when tightened. Overall, a nice pant for crossing through rough terrain, but they are made for the thinner crowd; not for athletic bodies (try the relaxed fit). September 29, 2014
Functional & Comfortable Just bought my second pair and will probably add more colors. I love these pants. Bought them for sun protection when spending hours in an open kayak fishing. They are incredibly comfortable, even on hot days. I usually get the bottoms wet while launching, and they dry within a couple minutes. Another big plus is that it is very easy to reattach the legs, even while wearing the shorts. I've never had to struggle with the zippers. July 31, 2014
Love these pants I wore these pants to Disney during July and was very pleased with the fit and comfort. I did not get hot at all. The pockets are perfect for carrying several things. The best part was how quickly they dried after getting wet in the rain. I highly recommend these for any outdoor occasion. July 28, 2014
Excellent for the weekend. Great for cool mornings that turn warm.Fast drying and great color that can be dressed up for dinner out. Great for vacation & utilized in most activities. they're super light for warm days yet still functional for cool days. June 30, 2014
Great...if you want to look like you're wearing Peter Pan tights. The product construction and material is very good quality. But, the designer of these pants must be uber-skinny with pencil-thin legs. I'm an average sized guy, with what I would classify as an athletic build at 6'0' 185 lbs and the legs are way to small for me to comfortably squeeze into. I bought a 34" waist, which was actually slightly large for me, but the legs are still too small for me to squeeze into. My hips and thighs look like I am wearing spandex. Restricts movement a ton. I'm going to return them and try the Blood and Guts pants, as I have heard they run bigger in the leg area. May 22, 2014
G8rgirls purchased this pant for a coworker. He works outdoors nearly everyday and loves the functionality of the pant - can be worn to indoor meetings or out in the field. Loves the convertible pant and secure pockets. (I own the women's version and feel the same!) May 2, 2014
Awesome trail pants Great for hiking, fishing, etc. All around great warm-weather pant. Quick drying rip-stop nylon. March 27, 2014
runs quite small Well made and functional, but my husband sent them back because they were small enough that he did not have full range of motion. He is slender and wears a 32-30 but they did not work for him. Too bad, because they were just what he wanted for a trip. March 13, 2014
The only pants for fishing Lot's of pockets, rip-stop nylon to prevent tears from spreading, SPF, wicking and transition to shorts make these pants perfect for any fishing trip -- saltwater and freshwater. March 13, 2014
Great Pants! These are my third pair. I have almost every color. They're lightweight, durable and great for vacations. They take up very little space in my suitcase. February 27, 2014
Great Pants For Travel I travel from cold climates to warm climates on long plane rides. This will prove useful to meet the baggage weight restrictions. Good quality. February 15, 2014
Excellent for hikes / daily wear Great material good feel good wear dries easier washes well excellent value for money Trendy color looks really smart February 10, 2014
Perfect safari pants We checked several resources for convertible pants for my husband to wear on safari in Africa. Other brands ran very baggy, or had zippers at the ankle (which is great for boots, but not if you need to shorten the pants). These fit my very slim husband beautifully, looked really nice on, came in great colors, and he who never gets excited about clothes, was actually excited about these pants. Now if only I could find pants so easily! February 2, 2014
Silver Ridge Convertible Pants This is a great pant--not too baggy yet very light and comfortable. I have several pair of these and wear them almost daily. They are durable, water resistant to a point, however will shrink minimally if machine dryed enough. Zippers never stick and are easy to move up, down or around. Size runs true to fit, Excellent for all outdoors except extreme cold. January 26, 2014
Pants Great! Pants that also becomes shorts January 14, 2014
Wonderful Fabric & comfortable Excellent wash & feel, easy to wear & enjoy the quality...always the best from Columbia!! January 13, 2014
Great warm weather pant I have tried all kinds of hiking pants from various companies. This is my go-to pant now. I took 4 pair on a trip to the Caribbean recently; they worked fantastic. I have the convertible, so technically I had pants and shorts. The material is thin enough so walking in the heat is not uncomfortable - even as pants. And they are quick drying, so if you sweat or have to wash them in a hotel sink they will be dry within an hour or two. I wear a 32 waist, but had to go up to 34 as the 32 waist in this pant was just a wee bit snug. Highly recommended!! January 6, 2014
The style and kind of pants my son wears. I was not able to find the style and size in the store, but was able to go on line and order the style and size, and was able to get it before Christmas, since it was a Christmas gift. Thank you for getting it here on time. December 31, 2013
Silver Ridge Convertible Pants The pants are great. I use them for golf and wear them long in the colder mornings and then short as the day warms up. December 29, 2013
lightness and durability I like the lightness and durability of the material. The pockets are ample, the front zipper tracks easily, and the pants are convertible to shorts. What's troublesome is the sizing. The pants run true to form in length, but the waist and hip size are not appropriately sized for me. I had to jump to the next waist size, a 36 instead of a 34, which works well for me in most pants. December 15, 2013
Not a lot of movement I bought three of these pants for summer hiking and when the weather isn't to cold. I tried some on at REI and thought that the 36 waist was tight so I ordered the 38x34. I realized that I should have ordered the 36 waist as the 38 was to big and the belt that came with the pants doesn't stay in place when you tighten them up. There is very little movement on the upper thigh when you need to step higher when climbing. Also the lower portion needs a inner or outer zipper to allow for removal over boots. December 12, 2013
Silver Ridge Convertible Pant Love these pants! I travel for fun a LOT and spend a lot of time in the wilderness. My clothing must be comfortable and fit well. It must be versatile. It must be durable. It has to be quick drying. It can't wrinkle easily. These pants fit the bill to a T. I bought 2 pairs. Wonderful clothing. Wonderful piece of gear. Wish they didn't cost so much but if they last 15 years, that's only $6/year. A worthy investment. Definitely a BUY. November 23, 2013
Good but could be better I like the pants overall. They seemed to fit true to size and are light weight. I have comments on 2 areas. The right cargo pocket is closed with velcro. The velcro patches are relatively small. When one has quite a few things in the right cargo pocket (or something heavier), the middle of the pocket sags and it is hard to get the velcro on the pocket flap to contact the velcro on the pocket plus it doesn't hold very well once the 2 velcro parts match up. So, a larger area of velcro on the right cargo pocket would be helpful. Also, when converting to shorts, having a zipper down the leg to better remove them over shoes/boots would be beneficial - of course, that would likely drive up the cost to add that feature. November 11, 2013
Great lightweight hiking pants for all conditions Theses are a very comfortable convertible hiking pants. They save you having to pack more in since you can zip the legs off and you have shorts hence the reason I bought them. They are light, comfy, and are also UV protected so honestly what more could you ask. Got a pair for me as well as the GF and she wears them all the time. Just make sure you use a tape measure and use the sizing instruction correctly to get the best fit as there are a lot of sizing options and you want to get the best fit, especially in the women's sizes. In the men's it's probably a good idea to go up one size if you are close, I am usually in between a 36 and a 38 waist and usually always go 38 even though the sizing chart recommended a 36 I still went with a 38 so they would be a bit more comfortable. November 7, 2013
This product has change Sorry but I like your former Silver Ridge models, the new model has a belt holder system around the back of the pants that is hard to put your belt through. Also, they don't have zippers on the bottom of the pants leg so if you want to remove your pants for the convertible look you have to remove your shoes. Finally and sadly there is no stuff pocket on your left leg to store your bottom convertible pants. November 3, 2013
great buy purchased these pants for my husband size was true to fit zippers work well material is lightweight and comfortable worth the but October 21, 2013
Fit like a dream I purchased these for my husband. We will be going to Coasta Rica in a few weeks . He is looking forward to the comfort and light weight features . October 13, 2013
Good pant for the money Good fit and confortable. Same pant in a heavier fabric would be a nice option. October 9, 2013
A Great Product. These pants wear great, feels like you've nothing on except around the waist. My wife likes the fact that they're wash and dry - no ironing needed. I have the green and beige. Highly recommend these. Also like the feature of the zip-off legs for shorts. October 6, 2013
Good for travelling light The color choice for these pants are great. They look really good and fit nicely, although they do seem a little longer in the leg than what you purchase. I have to roll mine up so I don't walk the hem off the bottom. I haven't converted them to be used as shorts yet, but i'm sure they work fine. The pockets could be a little deeper - everything falls out of the front pockets when you sit down. The crotch could be a little larger or have some stretch to it for some added comfort. They keep me cool as I work in hot and humid environments, but I would not recommend these for skilled trade type work. October 1, 2013
Fits like a glove only they're pants! You can never go wrong witha pair of convertible pants. Versatile, easy to wash and wear and light. I bought these for my husband who swears to only wear columbia convertibles. I thought they were a little snug on him, but he insisted they were comfortable and could move easily in them without restriction. Have to take his word, he's the one wearing the pants. September 30, 2013
Overall excellent I have always liked Columbia products and have bought Silver Ridge before. These seem to be improved in that the buckle, button and zipper action work better making the front lie flatter. September 14, 2013
Silver Ridge convertable pants, a WINNER!!!! perfect for camping, hiking, rafting....pockets are great. Nice fit. September 10, 2013
nice convertible cargo pants Exactly as described in catalog as far as look, material and function. Have not worn them in an outdoors situation yet, but they will be my main pants in my upcoming trip to the Solomon Islands. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 stars because I haven't worn them in the field yet. September 10, 2013
Outstanding product Bought my first two pairs of silver ridges in 2008 and thoroughly thrashed them ever since. Have had competitors brands, but nothing has stood up to weeks of backcountry adventure, boulders, brush and sun like these! My worst pair still looks good enough to wear to town. September 1, 2013
Tight Waist I'm a size 34 waist and have been a long time. These pants are tight in the waist and crotch. Buy the next size up to be safe. Otherwise a good pair of convertible pants. August 29, 2013
Great pant, does the job, but the fit is a little slim. I like the pant, they are well constructed. Heat comes off easily and water evaporates quickly. The fit is a little to slender/slim for my liking, however they usually loosen up after a day on the trail. The built in belt is a nice feature, in fact I switch it between my different trail pants. I found that the Blood and Guts II pant has a better fit for my liking. August 19, 2013
My Happy Pants I LOVE these pants! These are practically the only pants/shorts I wear. I've have some of the REI Sahara convertible pants as well, but these Columbia pants are the reference standard as far as I'm concerned. My wife had to reinforce sew the button on 1 pair so far, but that's the only problem I've ever had with them. August 14, 2013
As good as before Had 2 pairs from at least 10 years ago, and one just starting wearing thin. Wear them very often. The new ones seem just as good as my previous pairs and I hope they last as Long. August 11, 2013
Good for warm weather Great pants but they are to "baggie". Slimmer fit would be MUCH better. August 10, 2013
Great travel and movie pants When in doubt about weather conditions, this is a versatile pants. Sometimes the movie theaters are too cold so my husband always wears the convertible pants. Very lightweight and easy to pack for trips too, especially in the summer. Only problem was color difficult to distinguish when making our selection. Wanted a grey so took gravel. Gravel is more of a green olive color. But that is ok because we plan to have more pairs of the convertible pants in different colors. August 8, 2013
Pants for a summer in Thailand I bought a pair of these pants specifically for an extended trip to Thailand, and I'm glad I did. I bought them just slightly too big in the waist so that the crotch would have a loose, breezy, fit, and that worked out very well. (After a month in-country, my waist got smaller, so I had the side elastics tailored.) The thin nylon is the right weight for this hot, humid, place, and it breathes well. The pants dry very quickly, making them a great choice for travel anywhere. The pockets are durable and convenient. So far, I’ve worn them on the plane, then worn them daily for a week of running around Bangkok. I washed them, then lived in them for a week of beaches and beach towns. I washed them, then lived in them for a week at a forest monastery. Now I’m in Chiang Mai, wearing them as I write this review. I have another pair of nylon convertible pants, but they’ve been relegated to back-up status, being worn when the Silver Ridge pants were at the laundry. I only have two things to criticize: (1) The hook-and-loop patches on the pockets are too small and weak and tend to open under very mild stress, like sitting down with my wallet in my back pocket. The hook-and-loop patches should be at least twice as big. (2) The crotch is too tight for the waist size. Pants for tropical climates should be baggy so that you stay dry down there. I'm buying another pair when I return to the USA, so that I'll have two pair for my next trip to Southeast Asia. July 29, 2013
Disappointing For pants designed for hiking, the cut is too snug. Too restrictive around the thighs and the rise is not high enough. July 15, 2013
Men's Silver Ridge™ Convertible Pant I purchased a second pair of Men's Silver Ridge™ Convertible Pants since I liked the first pair so well. We recently spent three weeks traveling in Europe and these were my primary pants on almost all of our day trips. I have a medium build and wanted a pair of moisture wicking pants that weren't baggy like many cargo types but fit like regular pants, and these fit the bill. I also use them for extended day hikes and found them perfect for a full backpack trip of the John Muir Trail. They fit nicely, wick moisture very well, are comfortable, look good and are extremely durable. As an avid outdoor photographer, I'm on my knees frequently to capture macro photos of flora. I've had the pants a couple of years now and have yet to experience a rip or tear anywhere on them. July 14, 2013
Pretty Decent I ordered these for working in hot humid areas in the middle east. I'm 5'6" and normally wear a 36X30 or 38X30 size pants. I ordered the 38X30 just to ensure they would fit. The waistline seemed pretty decent, but it's just a tad bit long. Either way, they seem to be pretty decent as far as being lightweight and easy to wear. The durability factor I can't really comment on, as I have an office job. July 8, 2013
Great Pants Might be the best, most comfortable pants I've ever owned. They are very light weight...which I love, and they fit great. I like them so much that I bought six pair...one of each color. Really like the way they comvert from regular long pants to shorts...very easy to go back and forth. I'm sure if there were more colors available I woulod order them. July 6, 2013
Couldn't get a more comfortable pair of pants!! I'm a guy that usually wears jeans for everything. I recently bought a pair of these pants and was blown away at how comfortable, light weight, cool these pants actually are. I'll never wear jeans for the outdoors again! June 29, 2013
Everything I was looking for. Love everything about theses pants. As a 6'2" guy and 220 lbs fit is important. The true to size of these pants was on the money. I have other pants like this but they have no fly. A bummer. These not have a fly but also have two pockets in back. I like to keep my wallet in one and a handkerchief in the other (for wiping my brow after reeling in that 30 lb trout!). I also liked the slimmer leg these pants have. Much more stylish than others I've tried. These pants are worth every penny. June 28, 2013
Quality and Durability is declining I own an older pair of Columbia convertible pants and they are much more durable, and of a better quality. Like most clothing sold today there is a rush to the bottom to increase profits. Columbia is not what it used to be. I only bought these because I was looking for a lighter color, and no one else seemed to have it. June 12, 2013
