Men's Silver Ridge™ Long Sleeve Shirt 4.1 5 51 51
Favorite of My Many Columbia Shirts I have a closet full of Columbia shirts, and this is my favorite. As others here mentioned, it is cut smaller than most of my Columbia PFG fishing shirts (Bonehead, Tamiami, Airgill, etc), but I find the cut of the Silver Ridge to be the most normal with those others sized unusually large (presumably giving room to move when casting, reeling, gaffing, etc). This definitely has a more fitted look and style than those, and I love it. These with jeans or khakis have become my daily work attire (moderately casual environment) and they also work well for outdoor use and casual wear. Started with one and have picked up several more in different colors. The roll up sleeves are great for warmer weather or going for a sportier look, the back vents are subtle but functional, and the fabric is comfortable and dries quickly. They have also proven to be very durable despite their comfort. Get lots of compliments on 'em too. Size up if you like a loose fit or go with your normal size for a cleaner look, either way this shirt is tremendous. August 15, 2012
Horrible durability The fabric crumpled at my back after the first day of use, and in a few more days the whole shirt have become full with lint. The shirt over the Columbia is from a competitor, used under the same conditions for the same amount of time. August 22, 2014
Use less sunscreen!!!! I absolutely detest sunscreen. Your hands get greasy, dirt sticks to it, and you always miss a spot and get a weird sunburned patch. Not with this shirt! UPF 50 means you can be in the sun all day and not return home looking like a lobster. While it's not quite as cool as my Airgill shirt, it does a good job of wicking away sweat and letting in air. I have spent many days in the hot TX sun with this shirt and it's always kept me cool and safe from skin cancer. Docked it one star due to not being quite as breathable as some of my other Columbia shirts but it's a great shirt to have in the arsenal when the days aren't 100+ degrees. August 18, 2014
Very disappointing Words cannot describe how disappointed I was not only by this shirt, but my entire order from Columbia. Of the five items (four shirts and one pair of shorts) I ordered specifically in time for a trip to Phoenix, only two were wearable. This Silver Ridge long sleeve was the worst of the offenders. It does not run slightly small, it runs very small. I am not an overly large guy, but I do have a broad chest and beefy shoulders - where the XL shirt was noticeable tightest. The worst part was that the shirt was obviously already worn - one sleeve was sloppily rolled up and the other was not, there was a blatant stain on the lower back side, and a noticeable funk of BO when I tried the shirt on. Now I have to return these and go to the mall this weekend. I might be done with Columbia. July 11, 2014
Easily My Favorite Columbia Shirt I wear these shirts primarily guiding whitewater. I love the fit. It's much closer to actual size than a lot of the PFG gear. They dry quickly and are comfortable when wet all day. I like to keep it classy on the water with a button down and collar. This is my go to. It's just as comforable and good looking at a casual dinner. June 30, 2014
Sizing inaccurate - order a size smaller than your normal I bought this shirt after extensive online research for a long sleeve shirt which can on the South Texas heat and humidity. I'm 5.10, 200lbs. I got an XL as I have broader than normal shoulders, and wear XL in all other shirts, and heard that this shirt runs a little smaller than most. I carry concealed a 9mm Sig Sauer, and wanted a shirt that was long enough to cover my sidearm. This XL was far too large for me and made me look almost clown-like. I returned it for a size large without any issues. The large is too tight in the shoulders and upper chest. Sizing is not consistant with other Columbia long sleeve shirts. June 29, 2014
Nice material, needs attention on sizing and function I work in the field all year round in all conditions. This shirt was purchased to do field work in the hot summer months. It is a light weight shirt, that can be worn over an under shirt and is very breathable. The one major drawback on these shirts, FOR ME, is the lack of function of the chest pockets. First they don't fully open up on both sides of the pocket limiting what I can put in the pocket with one hand. Another feature I use a lot is to tuck a pen/pencil in that pocket while adjusting equipment. These pockets don't have a pen slot and combined with the fact that the pocket doesn't open up I end up putting the pen in my mouth or stuffing it in my pants pocket. Doesn't sound like much but when you are having to write, adjust, many times during a site visit it turns out to be a big issue. Lastly, I have found that the sizing on Columbia clothing to be very inconsistent. Long sleeve shirts tend to run large....very large and short sleeve shirts run smaller. I love the material and feel of the shirts but I can never be sure what size to buy. Couple that with the lack of function I need this shirt has turned into a casual shirt and not the work shirt I intended it to be. June 21, 2014
Very Good Shirt As advertised - very functional, well performing shirt. Not the most stylish, but very flattering. June 11, 2014
Great for kayaking Big fan of the Silver Ridge shirt/pants. Great in a kayak, doesn't hold onto water, and dries quickly making it much more comfortable than cotton. It's also cooler and looser than neoprene. Finally it provides all the bugspray and sunblock you'll ever need with long sleeves. I've had mine for three years and they've taken a lot of abuse. Material does seem prone to staining, but to be fair there's a lot of red clay in the soil here. May 10, 2014
My favorite Columbia shirt! I am 5'8" and 175lbs, and the Medium fits perfectly. This has to be my favorite Columbia shirt to date. I own this shirt in 4 colors so far and hope to eventually buy every color. I feel that once you find a article of clothing you love and fits good, and looks good on you, to buy it up! I wear this shirt sleeves up all the time, and love that it comes with the sleeve roll up tabs to keep them up and in place when recreating. This shirt can be worn at any time of the year and new colors are always coming out. I have to say so far I love the Windswept blue color, it just glows. April 22, 2014
Solid Outdoor Shirt This is the slimmest Columbia shirt I can find, but is still a little big for my small frame. February 27, 2014
Smaller than earlier shirts I always check fit of clothes before removing tags and laundering but I quit that with Columbia due to consistency of fit. I have 15 - 20 Columbia shirts, including maybe 8 Silver Ridge bought at retail store, Cheyenne, and online . People often compliment the shirts and good colors, and I enjoy telling them that they are almost bulletproof. Unfortunately, the sizing is noticeably smaller on the 2 Silver Ridge shirts I just received during 1/14. I'm a little disappointed. January 22, 2014
Multi Function Shirt Beautiful shirt, well made , can use for my daily hikes in the Arizona desert or during the day doing my HoneyDo list. Washes well and never needs ironing. The white always stays nice and bright. January 14, 2014
very good looking I gave this to my son for Christmas. He is extremely particular about all of his clothing but was delighted to receive this and it is now one of his favorites. January 5, 2014
Great fabric and quality The shirt is great for hot weather, the size is a little small than other Columbia models. Will purchase it again. Grill color is a really good option. December 27, 2013
Nice - Fabric is a little "Nylon-ish" These shirts seem well made and sturdy. The cut is loose enough that I can move my arms without restriction. I find the torso to be cut a little "boxy" and loose...I wish it was a little more streamlined, but I'm not a big guy - so perhaps this works well for the larger folks. My only issue with the shirts are that the fabric is a little slick - kind of like nylon - and it doesn't hang all that well or feel great. Then again it doesnt feel horribly "plastic"...it's just not really natural feeling. December 16, 2013
One of My Favorite Shirts I wear a lot of sun protectant shirts because I have a history of skin issues from years of sun exposure. I had about 8 long sleeve sun shirts from Columbia and other vendors. I had one of these Silver Ridge long sleeve shirts in the herd and every time I wore it, it just fit perfectly. It is a more tailored cut so you don't have all the material hanging around the waist as with the others. This shirt doesn't just hang on you, it actually fits like a shirt should. It felt so good, I ordered three more in different colors and they are about all I wear now. If you have a fairly athletic build and not much of a gut, this shirt will accent your positives. I listed the fit as slightly smaller than normal, but that is due to the tailored fit. Many folks who normally can get by with a size large may not be able to wear this shirt if they carry a lot of weight around their middle. Don't get me wrong. I could stand to lose a few pounds myself, but am certainly not obese. Because it won't accommodate much weight gain, this shirt will also tell you very quickly that it's time to push the ice cream bowl away and walk a few extra miles. It looks great, fits right and has a conscience. What more can you ask of a shirt? November 23, 2013
Still an excellent product, BUT! This is still an excellent shirt for travel. Washes and dries out overnight and looks good even if not pressed. My one disappointment is that the pocket design has been modified from the earlier version of this shirt. The breast pockets used to open fully with a pull tab and a velcro closure in the center of each flap. Now the tab has been eliminated and each flap is stitched down along its outer edge, making them impossible to open fully. Try stuffing a passport or boarding pass in there - what were you thinking, Gert? Also annoying - this flap design is not disclosed in the web site description of the product. November 2, 2013
Functional & Fashionable My Husband loves these shirts. It protects his skin from the sun and he looks good wearing these shirts. October 28, 2013
Great shirt I have just completed a circumnavigation in my sailboat and have worn this shirt extensively while underway. The shirt is breathable, quick drying, cool, sun blocking, tough, and stain resistant which are all essential features for me. Just as important, the super good looks are just what I like, especially while ashore. My only complaint is that it is large in the neck compared to other similar Columbia shirts. September 6, 2013
Silver ridge These long sleeve shirts are great for both casual wear everyday as well as your favorite activity in the sun. The quick transformation to short sleeves keeps you cooler too. The UPF 50 is great protection from the sun. Highly recommend this shirt September 2, 2013
Great functional shirt So far, so good! I have been out twice in this shirt, both times it has performed as expected. The first trip was after receiving a rather nice sun burn the day prior and the fabric provided the protection I needed to continue enjoying the outdoors, but still allowing my skin to recover from the damage I did the previous day. It wicks moisture really well, dries quickly, and looks good while doing it. My only compliant is that he cut is a little tight around my chest. August 17, 2013
Perfect For Trip We are going to Africa next month and this shirt will work perfectly for the trip. Just the right weight material and it fits great. Love the roll up sleeves. August 13, 2013
perfect shirt I ended up buying three of these in different colors (fossil, gravel and mountain) for my husband. They fit perfectly, protect from the sun, are lightweight, dry quickly, and he says they are very comfortable. He wears them either alone or over another shirt for the sun. They travel great, too. August 5, 2013
Great hiking shirt Dries quick, doesn't smell much, protects you from the sun. I even jumped into a tributary of the amazon while wearing this! The shirt ran a bit bigger than I expected, but that was actually kind of a good thing for hiking. I liked the color, too (foliage.) July 28, 2013
Pete a man who spends most of my time outdoors Not your best offering - on a one to ten - a four - will not even open the second packaged item - would like to return it - forward information on how to do so!!! June 4, 2013
This is a horrible product The shirt is not like it's previous versions. The fabric is too light and thus not durable at all. After just wearing the shirt just sitting around, the lanyard around my neck cause the shirt to fray and loosen threads. This shirt will not hold up to any activity. I have bought this type of shirt on three different years and it seems to be dropping in quality. This shirt will not last the laundry let alone a deployment overseas. I do not recommend this product and this will be the last Columbia clothing I will purchase because I am very disappointed in an outdoor and adventure company producing a shirt that won't hold up to everyday wear. May 21, 2013
Almost perfect fit, order 1 size larger great shirt, great quality and fantastic feel and durability...I'm 6'3 and 250lbs and normally wear a XL or an XLT, these shirts as the Description says run slightly small which is actually the VERY BEST way these shirts should run for us Men! not too big and not too small, they are perfect, love em and have 5 in different colors, long and short sleeve... May 12, 2013
Eh... This is a good looking shirt. However I returned it for two reasons. First the sleeves were too narrow to properly fold and roll up the sleeve. Second, the material is so pliable and soft that you can't really get a good fold on the sleeves when you role them up. It becomes this rolled mess at the top of your arm, rather than a flat folded up sleeve. Little things but they mattter. I've found the Ex Officio shirts to be the same. It would be much better if the fabric had more structure to it. April 29, 2013
Good Outdoor/Casual Shirt I purchased several of these and the short sleeve version. The fit of the LS version runs a little small, the SS version is true to size. The fabric has a good feel, the shirt dries quickly when wet. Perfect for outdoor/casual wear. The only thing missing is a pen slot in the pocket. April 12, 2013
Shirt review Like this shirt so much, I am planning on ordering a couple more. Thanks March 18, 2013
Often buyer, I live in them. Size is small, and the button holes are so tight I can hardley get them buttoned. The new pockets are closed on one side and hard to put things in. And the fabric is very rinckley after washing. Not too happy. I live in these shirts... March 6, 2013
Comfortability This product is very comfortable whether in warm or colder weather. February 21, 2013
My 6th shirt These shirts are the most comfortable shirts i have ever worn. They have a very wide temperature comfort range. I presently live in Thailand and these shirts shield me from the hot tropical sun. They are also comfortable when I go inside a frigid air conditioned building. The comment applies to the same material silver ridge pants. When I lived in a non-tropical area, the shirts were comfortable down to about 50 degrees F and were OK in the 40 degree range. I did not need to take a light weight jacket along after I started wearing these shirts. These shirts dry quickly, so I got into the habit of hand washing them and letting them hang dry. The fast dry and light weight make them excellent travel clothes. You could take some pretty long trips with two. January 11, 2013
silver ridge review I have other Columbia shirts and these shirts stack up with them well. They are comfort and dry quickly. I am impressed that they are so supple and yet have a 50 spf rating. Most shirts with that rating seem to have a stiff feel to them. Great shirts but my only negative is that the neck is much larger than the neck in other large shirts that I own. I usually keep the top button unbuttoned but in these shirts I button it because it feels so loose otherwise—a minor issue. December 8, 2012
great Great shirt, this model runs a little tighter to the arm than previous, also liked pockets functionality little better than actual, but it delivers true columbia quality and performance. November 25, 2012
Excellent Choice Very nice shirt. Great fit, very nice material. Runs true to size. October 1, 2012
Need about Five more , one for every day of the week, work days that is. I have been wearing the Columbia shirts for a few years now for work. Everybody asks how I like them and I am very honest about it, I LOVE THEM! I do landscaping in Florida and believe me you have to protect yourself from the sun and these do it. The Silver Ridge shirts are light weight and and dry out quickly. Great product buying more soon, try the pants you will like them better. September 17, 2012
SLEEVES TOO LONG I bought this for my husband. It fits in all respects except the the sleeves, which are at least 2" too long. September 15, 2012
near perfect Looks good at work, and works good on the trail. I like these for travel as well, can give them an easy wash if need be, stay relatively wrinkle free, and you can look good (unlike the typical tourist wearing technical clothing, the fanny pack wearing old, or the slob backpacker). Works in a wide range of climates, hot/humid to cold/dry. Oh, and the material is super soft/slick (hard to describe but i love it), and seems durable enough (though may not handle bushwacking well?). Slimmer fit than most Columbia gear (which are grossly oversized), so I guess you could say, its normally sized. I think this has to do with Columbia rebranding as not just a box store cheap outdoor brand, which caters to the typical fat American. I am 5'11" 185 and athletically built wearing a medium. Has the nice tailored shirt look that is popular these days, slim but not tight or restricting. A large might be a bit better for a lot of really hot outdoor use, but I'm primarily using this as a casual/work/travel shirt and the fit is spot on. Love the updates to the shirt from last year: hidden buttons on sleeves, extra neck coverage flap under collar, tacking down the pocket flaps on the outside, and solving the open mesh flap divider problem last years model had (couldnt slip the shirt on button upped without ending up with your arms sticking out the vent holes). There is still some work to do: -Stretch! either add some panels, or make the entire shirt with a bit of stretch -Antimicrobial/stink finish to the fabric -small snaps instead of velcro on the pockets September 7, 2012
Funny sizing I purchased a small shirt. I wear a 15 1/2 neck, 33 sleeve. As advertised, these are right for me. BUT, the shoulders are much narrower than I would have expected. A medium with the above neck and sleeve dimensions would fit better. I've never seen a small shirt with those parameters. I'll keep it because the fit is "OK", but I don't know anyone who is a true "small" with 33" arms and a 15 1/2 neck. That being said, I really like the design and material. Perfect for hiking and travel. August 13, 2012
Great Shirt Love this shirt and have others like it. Only suggestion is that's it's slightly oversized. I'm a quintessential medium (5'10", 145 lbs). While I can wear a medium it tends to be a little baggy. On the other hand, if I get a small it fits me perfectly. August 13, 2012
Keep an iron handy The shirt is fine when pulling right out of the dryer. If you need it for work if you work in the sun and need to appear more professional, you're going to want to iron it. Otherwise, it's a great fit and looks good. July 28, 2012
Not a right fit I love all of my Columbia shirts, and have found they have all fit true to size, however these shirts did not seem to follow suit. The shirt was cut quite small under the arms, and across the chest. I loved the design but I suppose another shirt may be for me and not this one. July 16, 2012
Durability lacking The shirt appears to "pill" quite readily. I purchased the shirt for sun protection while biking (on a recumbent). After the very first ride the material shows pulls and pills--very fine fibers have been dragged out of the fabric. I do not expect this shirt to last very long--I bet the underarms, sleeves, cuffs will soon be quite ragged looking. My wife has a sun protection shirt of similar weight from another manufacturer which has held up very well for a number of years. I was hoping for the same performance. Needless to say that hope will not be fulfilled. On the size issue, I normally wear large--after trying the large I realized that in this product I needed to get an extra large. July 15, 2012
Useful for backpacking I bought this shirt as something that would be cool and offer versatility for my summer backpacking trip. It was breathable and dried quickly, fit well, and did not fray noticeably from my pack rubbing. I liked having the sleeves that could roll up or down quickly and the collar that could be used to block sun or bugs from my neck. I am very satisfied with this shirt and have recommended it to others. July 6, 2012
Just what we were looking for We have been looking for this exact shirt and got it just in time for Father's Day. June 27, 2012
My favorite UPF shirt - ever! This is my favorite UPF shirt by Columbia. It fits well, looks stylish and keeps the sun off my back so I don't have to apply a quart of sunscreen before leaving the house. Living in FL, UPF is very important and this shirt keeps me safe and looking good! June 20, 2012
Size is not the same as other shirts from Columbia You need to improve the size, is not the same than other shirts from Columbia. June 12, 2012
