Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I was looking for So far this vest seems to be exactly what I've been looking for. The fit is perfect and the vest seems well made. I haven't had a chance to try it out in warm weather or travel situations (the real reason for buying this) but I am hopeful that it will function as planned. I ordered the vest online. I wish more retailers carried your line of clothing. But I had an impossible time locating this vest in a store. And the stores that do sell Columbia products only carry a fraction of what you sell. Very disappointing. Love the vest. Once the warm weather returns, I will no doubt order 1 or 2 more if the vest performs as expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Vest I found this vest at a consignment store, and found it to be excellent. It is light, but warm; I can wear it with just a long-sleeved shirt in 40 degree Colorado weather and be just fine. I haven't tested it in warmer temperatures yet, but it is very breatheable (while still keeping you warm in cooler temps!), so I imagine that I'll be able to wear it with a sleeveless shirt when in warmer climates. It is made of a strong Ripstop nylon, and has so many pockets, it's crazy. I probably will order one in a different colour later on. Overall, it's a must-have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My husband LOVES this vest Lots of pockets, very light but warm. Nice material and well-made. Would order another.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tight on the bottom, loose on top The quality of this product is good and the design has many good features with zippered pockets throughout. Unfortunately for my body type, the bottom was a little tight and the top bloused out at the shoulders. I couldn't use it so it was returned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for safari Didn't use the pockets much, but it was perfect for layering on our safari. Fit very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality that fits well Very impressed with the quality, access to features on the vest. Light weight etc so I bought another for traveling to Europe and International sites.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stop the pocket picking! Rome is terrible for pick pockets (2 attempts in 3 subway rides and another observed). I got this Vest after that trip, and love the secure pockets to keep safe items from crooks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable Vest Very comfortable light weight vest. Great looking, great for wearing on fall or spring days over work or casual clothes. Own two Silver Ridge shirts which are versatile for cooler seasons also, have held up well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good vest Good vest, I like the longer length . A couple of design improvements I would suggest,1. inside zippered pocket 2. A double zipper on the front of the vest would make the fit better and things would not fall out of the side pockets when you sit down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Vest Nice vest for concealed carry. Looks generic, not tactical.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Vest Style#1441721 Too flimzy material Style 1441721 is not to past quality. My example is former Style# AM1049. Notes: Is a heavier canvas material than Style# 144172 Look: Has 4 large Velcro flapped pockets on front [left & right] as a small Velcro flapped pocket over lower right large pocket. Has zippered sleeve pockets interior left side. Has open pockets on lower right & left sides. Zippered opening Bring back Style AM1049

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dangerous inside pocket. Columbia, Under Armor and The North Face are my go to clothing. I buy a lot of Columbia clothing because its well made and I like the softer outdoorsy colors. I do a lot of camping in very remote and sometimes dangerous areas. I wanted a hiking/camping vest to hold my ACR "PLB", GPS, and maps. Santa came through, under the tree was the Columbia Silver Ridge XXL Vest in a soft green color, I think they call the color Gravel. I was very happy, it looked good and seemed very well made. Best of all it didn't look like a fishing vest and was very light weight, The XXL fit perfect I'm 6'3" 250. New Years eve I packed up the Jeep, my trusty Germen Sheppard and headed to the Geologist cabin in Death Valley. The Geologist cabin is first come and its yours. I arrived to the Cabin in about 3 hours from Las Vegas, 17 miles of very rough dirt road from the paved turnoff. Plenty of daylight left so I loaded up my new vest and hiked to Striped Butte. It was about a 6 mile hike there and back. NOW THE BAD PART! The vest has 1 long inside pocket along with other inside pockets, ( by the way the ACR PLB fits perfect in the zippered top outside pocket) I put my Jeep keys in the long inside pocket and went hiking. When I got back to the cabin I downloaded the vest and there was NO JEEP KEYS! UHOH!!! BIG PROBLEM! Even though it was cool in the day and I had a PLB I was not looking forward to a 17 mile hike out with my dog, to the paved road. The SILVER RIDGE vest has a hole for no apparent purpose. It was designed and sewn into that long inside pocket, the hole is on the side edge of the pocket and it hidden by the zipper flap. The hole/slit it 3 INCHES LONG! Why would they make it like that? Anyway next day set out to find my keys that also had a small $200.00 Al-Mar knife on the ring....GONE!! Could not find them. The good news, crawled under my Jeep peeled away some magic black duct tape and got my hideout key (never go off road with out one} I don't understand why Columbia would make a pocket with a hole in the side, and if there is some reason at least point it out. The way its designed you can not see the hole. So When I got back I went to Santa's workshop (REI) to look at the other vest, They all had the hole, no one at REI knew why there was a hole in the pocket and all thought it was crazy that it was made that way. To sum up I still like clothing from Columbia, I have never had a problem with it until this vest, (that I kept) I still like it but will sew up that pocket. Jeep key $80.00, Al-Mar knife $200.00, hidden Jeep key priceless!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very utilitarian yet stylish This is a great looking vest that is also fully functional. Many pockets to handle whatever life brings at you. Only request I have is for a dedicated exterior pen sleeve/pocket for easy access. Otherwise, it's well thought out and designed!
Date published: 2014-10-15
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A couple of suggestions for functional improvement The vest is long and would benefit from a 2 way zipper up and down. The inside pockets are great for a photographic lens or water bottle. A button or fastener 1/2 way across the top of the inside pocket would help distribute the weight in the pocket better and secure the item from falling out, when it it taken off and folded . Otherwise it is well designed and quite functional. the weight is perfect. More when I get back from a 10 day trip to Ethiopia

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Vest Lightweight and cool; especially important qualities here in Texas. Excellent fit. Performs very well in the activity for which I purchased it. This is my second one and I intend to buy another in a different color. I highly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "man purse" replacement My husband has a collection of cell phones, work radio, pocket calendar, and other odd things. He hated the fanny pack idea, and all the stuff on his belt wasn't working. He loves his vest(s), and wears it everyday - we got different colors. only wish there was a XXXL for one of his work mates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for on the water or on shore I have found the Silver Ridge Vest to be a perfect match for my Life on the water . The winter finds me cruising the north Florida coastal waters and in the summers I’m exploring the Pacific North West . The Silver Ridge Vest designs combines all the important features including OMNI-WICK that keeps me dry and OMNI- SHADE to protect me from the sun . The pocket arrangement is perfect for keeping me organized . This vest has become my go to garment whether I’m cruising on the water or hiking a trail on shore . It’s a real must have .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great style, fashionable and functional! These vests are hard to find. It's lightweight, fashionable and functional. I purchased grill which is dark grey (black is very hard to find) and it's a great color. My husband loves this vest and also has one in tan. Great for hiking and general travel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatility in the Men's Silver Ridge Vest I bought the vest for my son. He said:The vest fits true to size, but with enough space to wear a sweater underneath when your out skiing. It has enough pockets to carry cellphones, keys, etc. It is light weight and perfect to take on the slopes in MILD winter conditions, yet it is also perfect for evenings around a college town while your riding your bike.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unknown value I would love to give a review if I only had the vest to give my opinion. I was supposed to have the vest on the 19th and as of yet I have not seen it. It is a gift for my son who is in Michigan for Xmas but will be heading back to Fort Worth, TX Saturday 12/28. It looks like that when and if I receive the vest I will have to pay the additional cost of shipping the vest from Michigan to Texas. My opinion thus far overall, Not Too Good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect outerwear! Bought this for East Africa and do not one bit regret it. Mesh linings keep it cool, the pockets carry half my EDC without being *too* bulgy, layers over my Bahama II and Tamiami shirts just right for the evenings. I love this thing... ordered a second one in gravel just for some diversity...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit, look, and function I bought the Silver Ridge vest for a camping trip to Yellowstone in the fall and I wouldn't have survived without it. Kept me warm when I needed it to and nullified the wind. Plenty of pockets came in handy. The turtleneck keeps you very warm and combined with a thick flannel, the combo is unstoppable in all but heavy winter weather. Works well as a lining for a heavier winter coat as well. Fit perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very functioning and comfortable vest I haven't taken the vest off! I use this vest daily to organize my workday---I'm outside half the time and inside computing data the other half ---the vest functions well to meet my need. Very comfortable and lots of pockets for all necessities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Silver Ridge Vest My husband loves this vest with all the pockets, places for glasses, phone, wallet, keys. Very cool, yet warm, good looking. The XL is not extremely large - just right. A little long and snug... so if you are deciding an XL might be too big (sometimes they are)... this one is an exact, if not just barely, an XL. The L I bought for my brother was too tight around the stomach... he's a little hefty there, so I exchanged for the XL He thought I had bought him the XL long. If this vest is going to be so popular, you might want to make one shorter/fatter and one for the thinner/taller guys. Maybe you already have. Need a ladies' version and I'm petite and don't want it too long! How about gray?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Vest This is by far the most functional vest I have ever owned. I wore it to travel to South America: it has many pockets for storage, provided sun and light rain protection, and was just warm enough for the over AC'd plane ride. It seems to run just slightly large, a good thing, it can be layered. It is well constructed, and can be adjusted at the waist for a better fit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as good as past models While I thought I was getting another vest as I bought before, this one was very small for its size and lacked the back pocket and zippered inside pockets of my last vest purchase. Seems they have left these features out of the "newer" model...too bad...I had to return it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Right Idea, Needs Refinement Basically a good concept that needs to be refined to become a great vest. The basic idea is a vest with pleanty of poclets to keep stuff handy when out and about. Various issues are listed below. 1. The inside of the pockets are made from lightweight mesh which is not durable enough. Pockets should be made from tougher matrial. 2. The vest is too long. The lower pockets of hip length vest tend to annoyingly dangle around the hips when the pockets are loaded. The vest length should be about 4-6" shorter. 3. Too many ragged seams exposed on the inside. Inside seams should be finished more neatly. 4. The snaps are a clunky feature that should be eliminated. 5. The zipper needs to be two-way. 6. The draw-cord should be moved to waist level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Functional warmer weather vest The vest is comfortable and light enough to wear during cooler summer weather. Has an assortment of pockets providing a decent amount of storage. I have been using it as a hiking and fishing vest to carry light tackle into more remote locations. Fit was accurate I have 41" chest ordered large and fit fine. Fabric dries quickly have worn in light rain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Columbia Silver Ridge Vest Before ordering, I read the reviews on the Silver Ridge Vest. One review indicated the vest received was not generous/loose fitting. I am 180# - 6'1" with longer trunk. I usually buy tall sizes: Large Tall Knowing the vest was not generous, I opted for XL Size & more length. The XL size was OK for me. I can reduce hip size via draw cord. The Columbia name tag on the vest is light, silver threaded Columbia name is hard to recognize. I suggest light tag have dark letters to better advertise your product. Botton Line: A very nice vest and I am pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice vest with alot of pockets With an extra two, zippered pockets added in front, this is an improvement over last year's model, in fact, addressing the only problem I had with last year's model. There are now 7 pockets in front-4 zippered, 2 hand and a hook & loop. Being 6'3", I was concerned vest didn't come in tall size. However, the XL fits great, not too short. $70 is a little steep, but after googling, I bought two more of these vests from another website for $52.50 apiece. Plan to wear this vest to an amusement park instead of wearing my usual fanny pack, because as the World's Most Interesting Man says, "You lost me at the word 'fanny'."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight and loaded with pockets I was looking for a lightweight vest for warm-weather walking that had pockets for my i-pod, etc. This fits the bill. It's good-looking, comfortable, and full of pockets of various sizes. I had to purchase a mens vest because it's not offered in womens sizes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product is exactly as described I received the vest and it fit perfectly. It is very comfortable and very stylish. Seems like I have worn it just about everyday since I received it. My girl friend says I should order another one while they are available as she knows I will get the use out of them. Great product and I would recommend it to anyone that wants a vest to also keep them warm when it is a bit cool outside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very nice Another bullseye fron Columbia. Pricey, but worth it. This vest is exactly what I was looking for. Lightweight, yet very durable. Great in the wind with the zip up collar turning the sylish look of the lighter colored colar into a turtle neck. The 3 zippered pockets in the front are perfect for holding stuff. The fit is snug, I could stand to drop a few lb's, but not too snug... holds body heat well. A definite 5 star vest!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best functionality After scouring the Internet and trying many vests for traveling light, this is the best value out there. Holds iPod, Cell, Passport, Airline tix. I only wish the inside pocket would contain a zipper for 1 add'l layer of security.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my good deal my good deal that I've made is buying ( ridge vest ) it very light so you can wear it in hot weather ( 27 - 32 ) degrees centigrade. It has very enough pocket that carry the most of your important things eg. passpot, etc. many thanks to columbia co.
