Men’s Strata D™ Fleece Jacket 4 5 24 24
Nice but very tight across shoulders This jacket performs very admirably as windproof and good heat retention. A quick comment about Omni-Heat as many people ridicule it. This technology really is for activewear. Sitting in your car or running to the grocery store really doesn't activate the technology. You have to move and generate heat. When it comes to many of the advanced materials used by manufacturers, I'm not sure I would call this fleece. At least not in the traditional sense. It's crinkly and almost like cardboard. But, the function works well. I seem to have endless issues with sizing from Columbia. Too big, too small, etc. Their sizing is wildly inconsistent. I bought a large (6'2", 190lbs, athletic) and it fits pretty well although it certainly is very form fitted in the shoulders. A larger size would certainly fit horribly in arm length and waist/midsection size. I have tried this route with other form-fitting jackets from Columbia. So, this jacket really isn't for layering monster sweaters underneath. You'll never get the coat on. Of course, that defeats the purpose of the jacket. You have to use thin fabrics to layer for warmth. Great purpose-specific jacket. Overpriced at list price. April 7, 2014
Invaluable Hands down the very BEST jacket I own. From my issued military gear to what I've picked up over the years...this is worth its weight in gold. All I've needed was an extra light-weight sweater at 28 degrees Fahrenheit to help provide a little more warmth, and I was good to go living by the windy river in the columbia gorge. It is not technically waterproof, however the only parts that let water in is the seams and zippers. For me this has been more than enough with fairly extended time in the rainy outdoors of Oregon. To be fair, I have eventually felt the seep at the seams after an hour or so, but against the wind its amazing how well this jacket performs to its description while all of your friends are getting chilled to the bone with their non-windproof jackets. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it never keeps you too hot, nor cold either literally year round from freezing to cool summer nights. March 11, 2014
A little uncomfortable This jacket is a little stiff, not soft like you expect a fleece to be. It keeps you warm and dry but you can't wear it with a short-sleeve shirt because the sleeves are a little scratchy. February 22, 2014
Nice fleece, runs a bit small, wish it was a bit larger I haven't had too many chances to wear this fleece so far, but I do like it. It does run a little bit small, but going up to the next size would probably be too big. I wish it was a bit roomier. January 7, 2014
Lightweight and warm This fleece is amazingly light and still provides great comfort and warmth. Very good for cold weather locales where one needs to be in and out frequently. December 28, 2013
Excellent Product I bought this for my boyfriend who is an avid skier, hiker and sailor. He received it less than a week ago but has worn it twice for skiing and says its the best Columbia jacket he has had(he has been a Columbia buyer for years) December 13, 2013
Hatteras heaven Gift for my 6'4" son (also tried on and coveted by 5'll" with broader shoulders). Both love it. Perfect for Cape Hatteras winds. Large enough to fit over several layers. Nicely cut and great color. And of course, Columbia quality. Thanks, Ma. November 27, 2013
Nice Jacket Excelent product, very confortable June 10, 2013
SIMPLY THE BEST This is a truly outstanding product. Best I have ever come across. It is light to carry around but a heavyweight in performance, it provides warmth but never gets too hot. I simply love this product and use it in all types of outdoor activities even long distance endurance horse riding. I also just love to have it on when I am hanging around, it is just so comfortable. Do your self a favour and go an buy one it looks good perform's well and wont let you down in the cold. May 24, 2013
My "go to" fleece This is my go to fleece peice now. I love the functionality of it. great to wear as a shell on those windy days. Blocks 100% of the wind, and its great as a mid layer under a hard shell. The reflective Omni-Heat is great! Heats up fast and stays warm. hope they update the style to look more technical. It does not get the credit in its performace without a more tecnical appereance. April 24, 2013
Great all around coat Great coat. All that is promised April 21, 2013
Not what I expected The material of the jacket feels extremely cheap. I expected more from Columbia Sport. The jacket feels like an overpriced windbreaker. The material inside the sleeves is not comfortable. I would not recommended this product anyone. March 31, 2013
Silver lining shows at neck Unfortunately the silver reflective lining shows at the neck unless you zip the jacket completely shut. I'm returning it. March 20, 2013
A Fantastic Jacket If you ever want a multi purpose jacket that can do everything here it is. February 22, 2013
Nice jacket This is a nice jacket. It heats well relative to how thin it is. The inner silver material is a bit flashy and is uncomfortable if you are wearing a short sleeve shirt underneath. If you are looking for a light jacket I would recommend this one. February 22, 2013
I work outside and use this coat down to 25 deg with a T-shirt The only thing i dont like is the omni stuff inside is stiff. Im sure it will break in.The collar is pretty stiff also , I wish it was a little more floppy. February 16, 2013
Jacket would be great if it didnt have that silver liner THe jacket fits great but the silver liner feels like you should be going to a disco and even if you have it zipped up, the silver still peaks out of the collar. It would be a great jacket without that liner. January 26, 2013
Great features in a light weight jacket The Strata D is great for those who love the outdoors! If you like hiking in the back country, this jacket is a "must have" for your backpack. Its light weight and offers the needed protection against those cold winds on the ridge. As to sizing, if you wear a Large, order an Xlarge. This will allow movability in the shoulders. January 23, 2013
WARM Good fit, true to XL size. Wish it had a breast pocket or two like my other Columbia shells. Blocks the wind well and warm with a sweater underneath. January 21, 2013
Love the look of the jacket Ordering the jacket online was user friendly. Absoulty love the jacket and the quality of the product. January 21, 2013
Fit/Feel vs Function If I could rate this jacket on two scales - fit/feel and functionality I would give it 2 stars on fit/feel and 5 stars on functionality. Fit/feel - I have no idea what this thing is made of. The exterior of it feels like a new pool table felt and the interior is that goofy-looking shiny insulation. If worn with a short sleeved shirt, the jacket chafes the arms. While I have to say it runs true to size, it clearly is a young man's jacket. I am in reasonably good shape - no pot belly and I have shoulders. The thing fits me snugly. If a guy had a beer "belly" hanging over his belt, it would be very difficult to size. Functionality - It peforms as advertized. It is light and keeps out the wind while keeping the heat it. If "being strange" was a justifiable reason to return it, I would. January 15, 2013
Nice jacket for mild winter climate I purchased this jacket for my 14-yr. old son in a size large. While this jacket fits him today, I have a feeling we will be buying a new jacket soon as it runs a little bit small. The silver thermal lining that is supposed to help keep body heat in, is a nice touch. The other nice feature is that the jacket isn't bulky, yet still keeps him warm. January 12, 2013
great jack , ugly lining the jacket is great with the exception of the lining that looks like a disco ball....people keep making jokes about how ugly the lining is, January 5, 2013
Good quality runs small Nice product but it runs small December 26, 2012
