Rated 1 out of 5 by Nice jacket without interior Outer shell fits well. However, after 2 separate orders neither came with inside layer jacket so had to return... Beware, you have to pay for packing and waste time going to UPS store to ship back. September 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect After seeing a review from a guy who described himself as "6'4" 215lbs with monkey arms" who raved about the fit of this jacket, my first thought was "holy cow! I have an evil twin somewhere!" He wasn't lying. As someone who has constant trouble finding things that fit my frame as well as my 38" arms, this jacket is a revelation. Well done Columbia July 27, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket Fits great. I am 215 LBS and almost 6' 4" and I have long monkey arms. I purchased a large tall and if feels fits great. Lots of room to move around and very warm. May 21, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Dallas Excellent fits a little snug, It's great. The quality of the coat, raincoat and functionality is superb. March 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love my coat! Coat looks and feels great. Getting ready to be transferred to Alaska and can't wait to test it in the rainy season. So far exceeds expectations. March 25, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by looks good inner liner fits tight in arms removed it has good fit but gets cold quickly February 22, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by So so barely long enough, no room to lift arms up. plenty near shoulders but it's like the under arm area was attached too low. It's also 50 usd less, not even 3 weeks later. I needed it asap so I don't have time to exchange it. On the positive side, it is warm, plenty big, and shipped fairly fast. February 18, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome jacket This jacket is a little tight in the shoulder/chest area just as it was describe in a review. Besides that this jacket is awesome. I was in keystone Colorado last weekend and the jacket lived up to reputation. Awesome purchase. Highly recommended this jacket. February 12, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Tight in the arms This jacket is amazingly warm. The only thing I dislike about this jacket is hat it's tight in the arms specifically in the elbows. Wearing a thick wool sweater underneath it limits movement in the elbows. February 4, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Big guy with style I've been looking for a funtional jacket for ski and snow that would keep me warm and dry, im a larger size. Being most stores only carry up to a 2x jackets I was hesitent to buy online. Well my Whirlibird just came in today and I am impressed! I'm a big guy, 6'4" @ 350 with a longer torso and short leg for my size. I went with the tall as most jackets tend to ride up and this inner layer snugs the midsection while the outter layer comes down to the butt giving total snow protection without riding, my first time wearing it and I had to open the vents under the arm as I wasn't used to the nice omni heat. The hood is a nice feature that you can tighten and get full all around protextion, or fit your helmet in. Only thing that could be better on this jacket is the main zipper. It snagged and came undone at the bottem so you have to make sure it is in the socket all the way. January 20, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by lilttle long, runs small I ordered and xtra large tall because at 6'5" nothing seems to be long enough. This jacket shocked me as it was a bit to long for my liking (went 4-5" below my back pants pockets). This jacket also fits pretty snug in the shoulders and sleeves. Overall a good product but order a size bigger than what you normally wear. Also, as stated before, this jacket is very long. January 8, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great looking jacket The red color is great, and the gray trim adds a little style. Wish it had a 2 way zipper, opening from both the top and bottom. Glad it comes in a Tall size. December 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Whirlibird is great. I'm tall and slender and always looking for tall sizes. I jumped on this coat when I saw it came in tall. It fits very well in the sleeves and length of body. When I first put it on, I was concerned about how warm it would keep me as there isn't a lot of bulk. The Omni-heat lining looked like a gimmick at first but it really works. You actually feel your body heat reflecting back. I would definitely buy one of these again. December 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by THANK FOR LOVING THE BIG MAN The best winter jacket ever! its hard getting nice winter clothing in BIG & TALL sizes! I am grateful that columbia still makes clothing for a man of my size. I will oder another one in a few weeks December 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great look for the winter season I loved the style and the multiple pockets..the coat fit perfectly with enough room for my columbia vest underneath December 9, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Initial review Columbia description failed to mention the under-arm zippers. Interestingly enough, I chose this one, because I thought it did not have these zippers like others. As for size, I am only 6'1", and only 195 pounds, but turns out that buying XLT was good choice. Had good experience with other Columbia 3in1 Omni-heat jacket (say, day hike at 15F with reasonable 10 mph windchill on a 14er in Colorado. Was comfy on the summit and both up and downhill) , and we'll see with this one. In addition to descriptions by other users (regarding staying warm and dry in cold parts of the country), note that stickers claim (which is not in Columbia website description) that it is meant to be used in range 0F to 40F. Will try another review once I get some mileage with it (that is why only 4 stars instead of full 5). December 7, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket Like most jackets for me the shoulders are always tight and the mid section is huge but was worried about it being comfortable as I ski. Took the coat thru it's paces yesterday in -30 degree weather and 40mph winds and I stayed nice and toasty. Love this coat and would recommend it to anyone. December 2, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Larger than expected If we would have known how big the coat ran would have gotten a regular xl not the tall September 9, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Jacket! I read all the reviews before ordering this jacket for my husband. Our story is exactly like so many others that have reviewed this product. He has worn his last Columbia jacket for at least 15 years. It has never worn out. This one seemed very light and he was afraid it wouldn't be warm enough. It was just fine in our cold Michigan weather. He is a big guy, almost 6'5" and 350 pounds. The only problem was exactly what some others have mentioned. If he wears a sweater or sweatshirt under it, the sleeves are tight. It is difficult to bend his arm. More room in the arms would be appreciated. This is the only reason I rated the jacket a four star and not a 5 star. It is difficult to find clothing that fits my husband and I was pleased to receive a jacket that fit him as well as this jacket. He looks great in it! March 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by It's all about the range Quality, fit, finish, function are all excellent. What did surprise me is the temperature range over which this jacket is comfortable. This winter has had some crazy weather, from two day thaws to record cold. I have worn this jacket from about 40°F down to -22°F (with a wind chill of -50!). OK at -22° it wasn't toasty warm, but it's not an Arctic expedition jacket. It did keep me warm enough that I did not need to shiver. That is pretty darned excellent. At the same time, in warmer weather, the breathability is such that I don't get soaked from sweat. It is a great choice for moderate activity in all sorts of weather. March 9, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great looking and good value jacket I knew that this jacket would run a bit small, so I ordered one size up and it was great. Looks good, kept me warm on the slopes. March 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderfully warm! The jacket is amazing; it is long enough in the body and arms, fits across the chest; I'm 6'6" and absolute love it. My testimony should be convincing, as my previous Columbia jacket is almost 26 years old and I would not give it up until I found something worthy to replace it! February 20, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Outstanding! I've been using cheap coats, and realized I was wasting money. This coat is just perfect. Well made, very warm, and yet light to wear. I have to wait for my train every morning; now I just sit outside in the otherwise empty chairs while everyong else huddles inside! The fit is just what I wanted, and I'll buy another if I lose this one. And I like green while everyone else is wearing black! Buy one - you'll never regret it! January 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect! Light weight but exceptionally warm! January 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by The ONLY choice for big guys As someone who wears a 3xlt, I ordered this in a 4xlt to make sure I'd have room when I layered. The quality is excellent, zippers easy to grab with bulky mittens and the internal layer stands on it's own as a great jacket to wear above 35F. Temps got down to 2 today and wore the whole thing together and it was great. I did a lot of research and this costs as much as a puffer from Ralph Lauren or Tommy Hilfiger - yet the internal jacket a lone is on par with those. For someone over 2XL or 2XLT there are no substitutes. Eddie Baurer makes 3XL and 3XLT but I find them a little smaller and not as good quality. January 7, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Liner Sleeves Are a Bit Small The sleeves on the XLT liner are a bit narrow. When my arm is straight out it seems fine but as soon as I bend my elbow the liner sleeve feel tight around my forearm. When my arm is straight out my fore arm is about 13 inches around, and at a 90 degree angle its 14 inches around, which is where the liner feels too small. Other than that I like the jacket a lot. December 30, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Poor fit for Tall Sizes - Need Athletic Sizes! Ordered a 2XLT (Tall 2XL) and a XLT (Tall XL) but never got to wear the coat. I'm 51 yrs old, 6'5" 220 lbs - wide shoulders narrow hips (wear 54L suit coat with 36" pants). Need ATHLETIC sizes not just TALL with big gut! XLT sleeves too short and way too narrow in shoulders and chest, too wide in hips. 2XLT fit in sleeves, chest and shoulders but could take "mini-me" skiing under the coat. At waist it's like a parachute ... will fit someone weighing 275 lbs. not average size TALL guy! No offense to my BIG friends but I just need TALL, not BIG (gut) and TALL!! Very disappointed - no outdoor company offers just TALL sizes - searched for 3+ years for new coat to replace my 20 yr old XL North Face ski coat which still fits great!!! Even North Face sizes are wacky now. I have a 2XL Columbia raincoat which fits great. All other XL or 2XL ski coats i've tried are a joke, short sleeves, narrow shoulders with big waist. December 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Highly Recommend Bought this as a gift for my son. He loves it. Its basically 2 jackets for the price of one. December 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Larger than expected I'm 6'3" approx 250lbs and purchased an XLT since I have purchased that size in other products from Columbia and have been happy with the fit of my previous purchases. However, this one was way too big. It looked like I was wearing a tent. The shell was the biggest problem because I felt like the liner was a good size when wearing that individually. I wound up returning the jacket and buying a LT. The shell fits me great and the liner fits a litter more snug than I'd like, but it's not too small and good for my height. The perfect combination for me personally would have been the XLT liner with the LT shell. The jacket is well constructed and within a minute of trying it on in my home I felt very heated. Though I have yet to really test this jacket "in the elements" of winter, I think this will hold up well in the Chicago winters keeping me warm in my daily walk in downtown Chicago. October 18, 2014
