Rated 5 out of 5 by Multilayer works I typically wear XL and with a lot of Columbia, XL is a little big for my lean frame. I was out on a nice day and ended up in just the shell. It was plenty warm. May 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product Excelente product . Columbia número one in the world March 23, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great features My hubby loved it! Kept him dry and warm during skiing. Easy to take off layers when it got a bit warmer. Recommend this purchase 100%! March 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Chest Pocket Opening Too Small Overall the jacket is great. Fits good and looks good. Only draw back is that the zippered chest pocket opening is too small. It's very difficult to get a standard mens wallet in and out of this pocket which is what I use it for. I had an older Columbia jacket very similar to this one and the chest pocket had an ample opening. March 3, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for skiing This jacket performs great in different weather situations. The flexibility to use the insulation jacket separately from the outer shell jacket makes this a great product for multiple seasons. March 2, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good not Great The zipper has small teeth which makes it difficult to zip with gloves on. The shell could use inside pockets, up near the chest for cell phones, glasses etc. The jacket was warm an comfortable to wear, it needs a couple of little things to make it a great jacket. Rated 5 out of 5 by Bring the Cold Weather Back This is an excellent jacket. Unfortunately since I've received it the temp hasn't dropped below 40 degrees so I haven't been able to wear the jacket all together. The outer shell has a great look and color scheme that isn't too over the top enabling me to wear it to work or out for an evening. The liner/inner jacket is great for outdoor activities when it is cooler, but not cold enough to wear the whole interchange jacket. Highly Recommended! February 25, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good product Bought it for my husband and he loves it. Light weight, but warm. Fits well. No complaints. February 24, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Cold in MN COLD in sleeves! Way too cold! February 19, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great coat I'd been needing a new all around winter coat, and liked what I'd heard about the omni-heat. I've had an interchange coat in the past, but it's been a few years. Everything is as good or better than I remember. It hasn't been ridiculously cold yet, but I'm sure it will keep me as warm as I need to be. February 17, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Chris1949 Great coat. Warm without down & bulk. February 6, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by I got one size larger than normal and it fits great. The large was a snug fit but the xl was perfect and I wear a 44 size suit coat. So I think it runs small February 5, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Wintersport Jacket I use this jacket for snowboarding and it works great. The inner layer with the omni heat keeps me warm even when I go night boarding. Outer layer keeps me dry. I like the armpit vents, they allow me to cool down a little when the sun is out. Overall great jacket for the price and fits great. January 22, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket Was very warm in Breckenfridge with just a base layer underneath January 22, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by My 3rd Columbia jacket My first coat was for winter wear only, purchased about 13 years ago and another one still worn in fall or spring was bought about 11 years ago. I am very satisfied with both coats. However, with this 3-in-1 interchange jacket that I purchased last week, I am a little disappointed -- it does not have a 2-way front zipper. I like this zipper type because it would be easier to pull something out of my pant pocket, such as keys or out of my holster to respond the notification on my phone. Ultimately, this jacket is warm enough when it's around minus 10 C outside recently. January 17, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Get it, it works Warm, comfortable, looks good. Bought thru Columbia site because they offered tall xxl, made a difference in sleeve length which I needed vs xxl. slightly roomier shoulders too Replaced 1st generation Whirlibird. Wore it skiing this season in 20 to -5, wind chill -17 with thermals and cotton t-neck. I was never cold. Powder shirt is a nice feature, trapping heat and keeping out the snow and wind. Omni Heat works like they claim and in snowy conditions OmniTech stayed dry. Around town I wore the liner with a t shirt and mid weight sweater, no problem, no puffy down. Easy nite life gear Came back home to downpours and Omni Tech proved to be great rain gear. I recommend this 3 in 1 January 11, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by My first Columbia purchase that I truly regret making I was waiting for very cold weather to wear this. It was only 41 degrees out and I wore this thinking it would surely keep me warm. Boy was I wrong....wearing this in 41 degree weather I was FREEZING! The following combination keeps me much warmer than this: - MEN’S ASCENDER™ HOODED SOFTSHELL JACKET - with a hoodie underneath and it is much lighter as well. I do not recommend this at all especially if you're looking for something to keep you warm. Those shiny silver dots don't do anything but look good. January 10, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Men’s Whirlibird™ Interchange Jacket I was expecting a warm lightweight coat. Columbia stands by the omi warm technology but I don't think it's worth it. I was recently in 10f weather and I can feel cold air on my back and underneath. The coat feels great though. January 6, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent winter jacket This jacket is a very good fit for me. My body dimensions are at the border of S and M size. I am glad that I ordered S as I was slightly towards the smaller side of the divide. Before ordering, I was a little concerned with the fact that some people commented that the jacket runs a little small but I did not feel that in my case. The jacket is also extremely warm. I like the hyper blue color of my jacket. I was initially concerned that the color may be too gaudy but found the hyper blue color to be quite appealing and good for the ski tracks. January 3, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by AWSOME product!! Absoltley happy with this purchase!!! Made a great gift for my husband!!!!! Love it! December 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Mens Whirlibird Very Warm, Regulates Body heat very well, I haven't had it in very cold weather yet but i am sure it will do very well. The workmanship is good... there are some loose threads that will need to be cut off. The only thing i am unsure of is the zipper tab, Seems kinda flimsy and i dont think it will stand the test of time. Overall great jacket! December 7, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Repeat Customer I love the 3-in-1 jacket for the style, function, and most of all the warmth without feeling stuffed with a big huge coats. I bought one for all the family and we all love them. The fit is great and I love the versatility of changing up with the jackets or putting it all together for colder days. December 3, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Runs small Be VERY careful of sizing IF your overall build is anything other than dead trim. As a late middle-ager in less than ideal (weight-speaking) physical condition, there are probably jackets better suited for builds like mine. Otherwise, jacket is of typical high Columbia quality and looks good. November 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Whirlybird jacket mens My son says it's great he recommends it. November 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm and Toasty Well constructed jacket. Keeps the elements out. Kept me warm during windy and rainy days in upstate NY. Have to try during snow. November 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by It works I obtained this item the last week of October and have put it to good use as a carrier for the United States Postal Service in the District of Colombia. I have worn this in temperatures ranging from 40 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit. I have only worn it in the rain, with the inner liner removed. It keeps me dry. It is comfortable and light weight. If you're going to be donning this as a equipment as I do, don't be naive and wear this without some type of underwear to absorb your own perspiration or you'll be just as wet as without a rain jacket, less the cold (sauna anyone?). It keeps you warm and it keeps you dry. I have read reviews that it runs a bit small, and so I took my measurements as followed by Colombia's instructions and ordered the size which went with my applicable dimensions. I found that if anything, it runs slightly loose. I got the large. I measure a 44" chest, a 36" waist, and a 38" hips. I am 6' and 190lbs and muscular; I almost ordered the XL due to the reviews of people complaining about the snug fit. I think some people need to get off the couch... This is a great product and a clever and pragmatic design. Today the temperature was 50 degrees Fahrenheit and very breezy. And so today, I wore only the inner-lining with a cotton t-shirt underneath, and spent the entire day outdoors without complaint. November 13, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great jacket An awesome jacket that works very well and leaves plenty of room for snowboarding November 5, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Early fall, may be. Winter, I think not. The weather in this fall (2015) was nothing compared to the latest winter. I wore the inner layer but still feel quite cold though not chilling. If I wore both layer it would be too much for fall in my thought. So I really doubt that this would survive the coming winter. 80g insulation might be just not enough. October 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great coat I bought this for my husbands birthday and he loves it. It's warm without being bulky and the cut of the coat is perfect. He has the gray with blue accents version. The colors are eye catching without being gaudy. Very happy with this purchase. October 7, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Winter Jacket Here in Wyoming our winter winds get crazy cold, and this jacket has already proved itself against the elements here. Love the jacket. The delivery from online ordering was fast too. 3 days it arrived after I ordered it. September 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great warm weather jacket It is great having a two-in-one jacket. It is beneficial for the coldest days of winter through the cool temperatures of spring and fall with just the inside layer. Great jacket, definitely recommend. March 10, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Whirlibird Jacket Not the Best The Whirlibird ski jacket is a poor product. The fit/form and insulation is worse than previous Columbia jackets I've had(Double Whammy and Whirlibird from the 1990's). "OMNI-HEAT" insulation is no better than previous insulation's and felt worse at times. The liner was poorly made. Both sleeves hang outside the shell and had to be pushed back into the shell. The liner is very flimsy, the chest pockets on the shell and liner are small. The main front zipper is difficult to use. There is no latch to attach lift tickets. The weather temperature was 10 to 20 degrees F and the jacket didn't keep me warm. February 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lightweight and Warm - Excellent! We've been in the deep freeze in the east and I've been out shoveling snow. I didn't even notice the cold - that's how good this jacket is. February 6, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Tough but Small This is a tough jacket. Great for skiing and I can see where it will put up to years of abuse. The waterproofing and taped zipper work perfectly while the omni-heat does a great job of keeping the temperature inside just right! I do see one downside to this jacket. It runs small around the middle and long in the arms. I can typically wear a large with room to spare, but couldn't even get the snow skirt to stay buttoned through use. February 1, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by cool design but lacks in warmth I've had quite a few Columbia winter coats including 3 in 1 s. However this jacket seems perfect for spring or autumn weather.. The inside layer actually felt kind of cold once I stepped out until it warmed up after 10 mins of walking.. I would not suggest getting stuck in a blizzard or any cold weather w this jacket. Dissapointed winter jacket but I'll keep it for spring and sadly try a different brand of winter jacket. January 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm, but not suffocating For the sizing, I am 6'7" and 255lbs. I got the XL Tall and the fit is great. I do not have very wide shoulders, but if I had somewhat broad shoders, I would need to go up to XXL Tall. The jacket is of excellent quality. I am super picky about seams, materials, etc. I get too hot in fleece lined coats, I get to where I feel like I am suffocating. I am not a fan of very stiff coats/jackets. With all that said, this jacket is perfect. The jacket is lightweight and very warm. The inner liner alone is an excellent look and still keeps you warm down to at least about 30° (no rain or wind) as I just recently found out. So soft, yet warm. There are so many pockets throughout both the liner and full coat. The hood is not insulated, but will keep you dry and appears to be windproof. Will just have to wear a beanie in extreme cold temps. Overall, I am super excited about this coat. So far has been great. I got the blue azul, and the color turned out nicely. I Highly recommend this coat. January 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Jacket - Highly Recommend I purchased this jacket for my husband and was concerned about the previous reviews regarding the fit being slightly small. I ordered his normal size and it was a perfect fit. He says the jacket is very warm and fits like a glove. This jacket replaced an older Columbia jacket he owned for probably 10+ years. He is very satisfied with this replacement and he's hard to please when it comes to jackets/outdoor clothing. January 4, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointed I bought this jacket to replace my old Columbia titanium jacket which was great. I find this jacket not vary warm at all. I have warn it in temperatures in the low 20's with a heavy sweat shirt under it and was cold. I find the out side pocket opening very small. I can hardly get my hand in the pocket. I have great difficulty putting my knit hat in the pocket. The inside pocket could be deeper. Several times my cell phone has fallen out of the pocket when I took the jacket off. January 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by The best winter jacket Hands down to Columbia for their Omni-Tech concept and products. I have lived in Chicago for many years and have had many different winter coats from other brands, including The North Face, and none of them have been as warm and functional as this one. This jacket is truly breathable, which is awesome for those of us that go in and out of the cold when commuting to work. I highly recommend this product. I couldn't be any happier! December 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Impressive Performance I am a Florida native but now live in Minnesota. I had been using my old Summit Crest I bought about 15 years ago. It was the standard by which I judge all others. This new jacket sets a new standard. It's much lighter and the new Omni Tech liner allows me to wear short sleeve shirts in sub zero weather with very low wind chill temperatures and still be completely warm. Columbia makes fantastic products that stand head and shoulders above all of their competitors! December 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by worth every penny! Got it as a gift for my husband and he is really very happy with this jacket as it is very warm, waterproof and cozy! This is a must have jacket!! u can use it in all kind of season as its interchangeable.. It's a well designed jacket.. Worth every penny!!!!! December 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Toasty Warm Calgary. Night time. -15C. As I headed out for a late night dog walk I realized it was colder out than I had expected. I had only a tee shirt on under my new winter jacket. It took a minute to heat up but once it did my jacket (and the shiny thermo liner) made me feel like a baked potato wrapped in foil being kept warm in the oven. Great feeling while out in the dark cold. December 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Must Add to Your Jacket Collection I live in a state where the weather can be 60 one day and 10 another. This jacket gives me the flexibility to adapt to any weather and had a chance to wear this in the rain two days ago and I was completely dry! It is Breathable and Waterproof and WARM! I love all the other thought that went into this jacket like the "Pit-Breather!" ( Zippers under your underarms on the jacket to give you so Air) I will be getting from from this company and I highly suggest this Jacket! December 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Omni-heat Really Works!! I purchased this jacket in preparation for the rough northern Minnesota winters. I need a jacket that keeps out the wind, keeps in the heat, but is breathable at the same time. The whirlibird does just that! You can really feel the inside of the jacket heat up as your body lets off heat!! Be carful wearing It in the car because you will heat up fast!! Love this jacket and will continue to buy omni-heat products from Columbia! December 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Rain/snow or shine This jacket was a great purchase. The price tag is steep, but I know i'll get many many years out of this jacket. Already I've received several compliments on its style and fit. The outer shell is perfect as a rain coat. The water beads up nicely and the inner liner is great by itself for mild winter days. The thermal layer is awesome and keeps me warm in sub zero wind chills. Snow started blowing last night and I cannot wait to hit the slopes in this jacket!!! November 19, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Horrible function The zippers on the liner are constantly getting stuck on the liner itself. You'll then have to spend 10-30 minutes trying to get them unstuck. November 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Whirlibird is the way to go! I got this jacket two years ago, replacing an older Columbia that didn't fit anymore. Living in the Midwest, it gets very cold in the winter. Last winter especially (several sub-zero days and 80"+ of snow). My Columbia Whirlibird never let me down. Always kept me cozy and warm. I highly recommend this jacket if you're considering buying it. October 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This jacket is awesome !!! It's a raincoat without the liner. the liner by it self is a great light weather jacket. Put the two together & you get the ultimate winter jacket. That's just my two cents. October 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Coat Great shell for rainy Seattle area weather with a warm liner for cold damp winter days. October 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent product It is an excellent jacket 100 % recommend, colors are nice and it is totally funtional. September 18, 2014
