Rated 1 out of 5 by DLeo Heel (back) padding lasted 1 hike.
After one hike consisting of no more than 4 miles - very average terrain, slight incline/declines, no rocks, boulder hopping or excessive scree, of any kind, generally flat and even surfaces- the padding material on the back/heel area wore a hole, resulting in my heel back rubbing against the material which makes up the outer shoe. Huge blister ... bad time. I had broken in the shoes. They are my appropriate size. I wear 9.5 with all types of shoes/boots/sandals etc... They are only good for walking to coffee or a store or w/e, now. I dare not use them for anything else as they wrecked my foot. Poor padding material. Do not expect serious protection or reliable use in anything above sidewalks. And flat terrain sidewalks, at that.

Got these to replace a really old pair of Columbia low top hiking shoes. These feature newer construction methods (more nylon) but are somehow not as comfortable with medium weight socks as my older ones. Maybe the older ones were just broken in, but the discomfort seems to be related to the construction of the shoe - the large ripstop nylon toe panel in particular. With thick socks they are fine. I'm hoping they break in with time.
I agree with other reviewers that they run a little small - I normally wear a 9.5; I bought a 10 and they fit perfectly with medium to thick socks.

Bought these shoes for walks in the neighborhood and for work, where I am on my feet all day. They have provided very good support and comfort and go very well with the casual attire at my workplace.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MrGenius Great shoe for the price
Once again the cheapest Columbia hiking shoe I can find in my size meets or exceeds my expectations. This is my 4th pair of Columbia's, and I love them. I need tough shoes that last a long time, grip the trail like claws, and don't cost more than $50-$70. Columbia never fails to provide them. So I'll always keep coming back for more.
