Rated 5 out of 5 by Great shorts for the Chubby Guy! I have a hard time getting shorts like these to fit. These were great!. A tad bit long in the leg (reaching mid knee cap) but very comfortable. I especially like the draw belt built into the waist band over a draw string. Far more comfortable and they stay in place better. October 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Fit Great swim suit. Perfect fit, and adjustable with belt. Dry's quickly! Just a great value!! September 7, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by multi-function travel shorts I purchased these for a two-week European land/cruise vacation. I am a one bag/carry on light traveler so I look for multi-function clothing to save space and weight. I wasn't planning on wearing shorts much and knew that I might want to swim in the pool on the ship. These served both purpose very well. As others noted, the only drawback is that the belt is not continuous. It is "fixed" in the back of the shorts so if you purchase these large, the belt will tend to be off center when cinching up the shorts. I did not have this problem as the shorts fit well, but see how it could be a problem for some. Also, the belt actually seemed to be reversed for a male with the buckle on the right hals of the shorts. The 9" inseam was just at my knees (I'm 6'1") which is just where I like them. Overall, I liked these shorts and would recommend them. September 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by water shorts These shorts are great for wet or dry fishing conditions.. they are cool when its hot, and if you decide to wade and get them wet right before heading back to the dock i assure you you will be dry in no time. Awesome product!! August 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by adjustable belt and clasp I have bought probably 30 pairs of these shorts through the years and obviously love this product but have noticed in the last year or so the adjustable belt tends to twist easily and the clasp is always falling off in the wash.I hope that you have caught this and corrected it. Rated 5 out of 5 by MEN'S PALMERSTON PEAK™ WATER SHORT Like the shorts. Lightweight and comfortable. Dry easily when wet. August 1, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by This products stitching is coming apart after 1 week I've just got these shorts an I've only washed them once an now the stitching on the back side of the shorts are separating. I'm hoping it's just a bad pair cause I really like these shorts. Now I love Columbia Brand just had bad luck with these part of shorts. July 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by very good product Tried to order another pair, out of stock June 26, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Needs a back pocket I still would have bought the water shorts even if I had noticed they didn't have a back pocket but, that's the only reason they didn't score a solid 5. The quality of Columbia products is always a 5 & being able to order the slightly longer 11 is epic for me. I'm not a fan of the bulky cotton cargo shorts, and I bought 6 pairs of the water shorts when I saw the price. I don't kayak in them these days but I wear them to river and back, and pretty much everywhere I go on the weekend and after work. Great Product!!!! May 20, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Peak Water Short Bought this style of short from Columbia 8 years ago and then again 4 years later and again this last month and the fit and quality on the 1st purchase is far superior to the last two purchases. I use these shorts for backpacking and like the light weight and quick dry properties but fit and comfort are not consistent year after year. April 9, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Wish they had a back pocket True to size, comfortable, dry quickly, they perform as advertised. I'll buy another pair in the future. I just wish they had a back pocket. January 14, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by COLUMBIA LET ME DOWN ! ! ! ! ! I'm very disappointed in the two(2) pair of shorts I recently purchased ; in fact , " I gave them away " . No pockets in the back , material is like thin cardboard & the elastic waist band doesn't stretch very much . The last two(2) pair I bought were the same . I thought this time would be different ... so I gave it a shot . My Bad !!! In the past I bought ALL of my shorts from Columbia & they were fantastic ; enough so , that I strongly recommended them & I know for a fact that several people purchased them on my recommendation . I guess I'll just have to be more aware of that old adage " Let The Buyer Beware " . September 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fit could be... A bit slimmer and the length a bit shorter. I like the shorts very much. They are comfortable for hiking and water sports. I had them shortened by a couple of inches and that's an improvement. So, my only reservation about them is the fit. September 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best for fishing I spend a lot of time wade fishing rivers is South GA....these shorts are made for fishing....great fit and function . August 16, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Light weight and quick drying I spend over a 100 days a year on the water in a kayak. During the summer these are my go to shorts while on the water. Light weight yet very durable. The material is quick drying which is important to me. My only complaint would be the belt will become loose easily. Other then that these shorts are great. August 1, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Different fabric I bought a short from your store less than a year ago, i love the fabric and the "thickness" of the short. I could not find anything similar in the store (Kohls) so i tried to order something similar online (same model and look very similar). I received the shorts and first thing is that the fit is a lot bigger than the old shorts (even as they are the same model), the worst thing is that the fabric is A LOT thinner than my old shorts that i love so much. WHY CHANGE something that the public loves and sells well? I paid almost $40 dollars for the shorts and they look beautiful but they are so thin that i don't feel good using them. March 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by My 4th pair of these shorts! Just an overall good quality pair of shorts. I use them for fishing , swimming and around town. They've really improved the quality over the years and they've always felt comfortable to wear anywhere. I might not be a "professional thrill seeker", but I do wear these more than 53 days a year and they hold up to everything I can give them. February 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Another Well Made Product After figuring out the belt buckle, this bathing suit stays on while swimming, fits well, dries quickly, is lightweight, and fashionable. I highly recommend this product. January 24, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by satisfactory product I purchased these shorts for use during kayaking. I ordered two pair, but have returned one pair. The tan pair are excellent, fit well and meet my needs. However, the second pair which appeared much darker green on the web, arrived a very different green, a color which i would not wear. I have returned this pair for a refund. January 23, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Features I wish these shorts had I was hoping these were the same, or similar shorts to what I already had. The ones I have had a mesh lining, separate of the pockets. While this pair does have a zippered separate pocket, I really preferred the other version. I actually cut out the mesh lining but still had the quick drying pockets. Overall, pretty happy to have these, though. I have a lot of Columbia stuff, and appreciate the quality!! January 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by very good good fit, good quality. December 19, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice outdoors/sport short Nice pair of shorts, great material and wear. I wish this item was sold by the waist size in inches rather than SM, M, L. XL etc. which makes fitting harder. M was to small for me and L was too big! December 9, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by shorts great product, very well made , holds up well November 20, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Daily Wear! I use these shorts for just about everything I do: walk, hike, workout, chores & errands. Indestructible and comfortable. November 12, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by dan17 I'm a 34-35 waist and a medium fit perfect. Only complaint is they could use back pockets. November 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by 5 Star - U can easily Wear as Shorts a +++ Nice long shorts. Hub runs corporate adventures and used to wear those heavy double-seated Patagonias. These days Columbia's long "swim" shorts are sturdy enough and look good enough to wear as shorts, as hub does year-round, even in winter weather. October 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent quality These shorts are well made and great for everyday use. Bought for travel and they worked perfect! October 7, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 Men's Palmerston Peak Shorts Columbia needs to re-think and go back to the original design of these shorts. So if you are trying to replace your original shorts with these .. I would not recommend .. they will fall short in comparison. September 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by comfort plus I really enjoy these shorts. Light weight and really comfortable. The only thing is I wish it had a back pocket. September 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by palmerton peak shorts ... just a great pair of stylish water shorts with an exceptional wear factor for everyday usage :-) August 24, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by overall good Good pair of water shorts. great for working out. Elastic waistband needs more elastic August 15, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by A functional short Very comfortable and functional. July 20, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice basic water short, good quality Fit me in waist but are narrow and tight in the legs/butt. But, that is typical of Columbia in my experience. July 19, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not enough pockets These shorts have only 3 pockets. You can not tell this from the picture or the detail description of the shorts. I previously purchased shorts similar to these but they had 5 pockets, I thought these were the same from the picture. However, there are no back pockets and only the 1 cargo pocket shown, none on the other leg. I was quite disappointed when I received these shorts. Also I can not find the shorts I purchased before on the current website. I really liked the shorts I purchased with the 5 pockets, what a bummer that they are no longer available. July 17, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Perfect shorts for me. I have several pair of these shorts that are 6 to 8 years old, and my favorite color pair got stained from some painting work. So I wanted a replacement pair in that color, plus a couple of new colors. I wear them all summer long here in Southern California, we live about a mile from the ocean. The shorts are great, I looked elsewhere for them. but they were less expensive here. The only thing I do is cut out the net liner, but it doesn't hurt the longevity or wear ability at all. July 14, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by one bad feature Loved the length of these! The only complaint I have is the elastic around the waist. I can't get my pants tight enough...they are too loose for my comfort but fit me everywhere else. My last pair of Columbia swim shorts (which lasted a really long time and were really old) had strings to tighten the waist line and I loved that...I could get my swim shorts tight enough I didn't have to worry about them falling off when I jumped into the water. July 2, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Active shorts need a drawstring They were a good fit, but need a draw sting for an active person June 28, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by OK They call it a Cargo short but it is short on pockets. I wish it had more. June 4, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Review I really like the Columbia water shorts. I use them for swimming as well as work shorts during the summer. However, I have returned them (0n May 20) because the were too large for me. When I get your credit I will reorder in a smaller size. May 28, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Bit of a miss on this one I've been a big fan of Columbia's water shorts for 10+ years, but this version is a bit of a miss. Size ran smaller than expected. No back pocket cuts down the functionality. Little-to-no elastic in the waist, and the belt "clip" adds nothing but frustration. Overall, a well made poor design. (I think they must have snuck this one past "Mom.") I will continue to look for and hopefully find Columbia shorts like my older ones, but no more of these. May 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Swim Trunks These babies are awesome!!!!! April 23, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good river shorts I am a river guide in Moab UT and used these shorts all summer. I am a woman and like the longer length, deep pockets, and mesh lining (do wish they had a 7" length). They do start to smell a little after being used all day in the sun and in and out of the water (you urinate in the water), but they scrub up nicely and the smell goes away. They dry amazingly fast, which is necessary on the river. April 15, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Just not right Way too big and color was misleading, thought it was a lighter slate blue. Nice quality. April 8, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great shorts Great shorts, comfortable and seem to be very weel made. Wish they had a drawstring! March 27, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love em My favorites, comfortable, stylish, and practical. Wish I could wear them year round, but PA is too cold in the winter, maybe I'll move south.Searched lots of stores with no luck, found them on line at Columbia's site, made my day.Love the elastic waist, big pockets, mesh liner, and quick dry.My kind of comfort. February 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality Swimwear The product was exactly what I was looking for. January 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Tennis Anyone I actually use these shorts for playing tennis. I like the fact that they are lined, and have nice, deep pockets. I find them quite versitile, with a great variety of colors. November 30, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by great product these shorts are comfortable and fit well. When wet they dry fast and clean up easy. November 27, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great for Hiking I like these shorts because they have deeper pockets than women's similar shorts. I was disappointed that they no longer have the zippered back pocket or the velcro cargo front pocket. When we go hiking the many pockets in my old shorts were great for carrying gear. I still enjoy wearing them though-very comfortable-just wish they had more of the pockets. October 24, 2012
