I had a Columbia charcoal grey fleece vest for years——it was my go to. Okay, so not very fancy, but a nice, reliable, warming layer that had a nice flattering longer length, perfect fit, and even went in a little at the waist for a flattering, trim fit. So when the zipper pull finally broke off, I decided to treat myself to a nice, new one. Normally I wear something into the ground, but you know how new fleece looks so much better than old?
I went to REI and they didn't have a single fleece vest in sight. Fleece vests are seasonal??? Really??? OK, well, then I'll go straight to the source and buy one from Columbia 'cause they made my old one.
Sad news. The new current model of the charcoal fleece vest by Columbia is a sad, sad disappointment. The weight of the fleece is so much flimsier than my previous one. It feels like a Kleenex. (Speaking of which, they should have lined just the pockets in this stuff!) The length is shorter and the sizing boxier, so it looks like I put on a few pounds around my middle. The quality is so inferior, I am curious what this will look like after one washing let alone fifty.
I guess I should have returned it, but apparently I'll just never leave the house wearing it. Maybe that's a good thing.
