Men’s Talus Ridge™ OutDry Shoe 4.8 5 19 19
Good investment Bought these to use while walking/hiking during the sloppy wet spring-time of northern Michigan. They are lightweight and yet provide enough cushion to walk on both trail and pavement. Warm enough to wear in snow and enough traction for crunchy ice. Only drawbacks: laces are too short, and needed to get inserts to provide enough arch support. Otherwise very satisfied. April 29, 2013
Good shoe, but was narrow Narrow in the toe box which was not a good fit for me. Would be a great shoe otherwise. April 9, 2013
Great Shoe This is my fourth pair of these shoes! Enough said. March 5, 2013
Great shoe; one flaw I bought this shoe primarily as a trail running shoe and secondarily for day hikes without heavy packs. It's a bit heavy for running, but I don't mind. It gives tremendous support, and on the technical trails which I run I'll take the extra weight to gain the support and stability.I live, work and play in the Rockies. My region is quite rocky, and the rocks are rough and can be sharp. This shoe has performed admirable under rough, uneven, challenging conditions. I find this shoe to be very stable in this uneven terrain. Plus, the tread has held up amazingly well. I really didn't think the little tread pieces would survive the rough sharp rock in my area. The only problem I have had with this shoe is that the mesh has not held up under these conditions and type of use. The mesh is actually very well made and quite durable, but the mesh upper has torn (vertical tear) on both shoes in the one place where the mesh is unprotected down to the midsole. The designers had a great idea of using a thin piece of very lightweight pliable plastic-like material rising up from the midsole on the uppers to cover and protect the mesh. IMO, they just made the mistake of not covering the entire lower portion of the upper from the midsole. The one place where they did not add the plastic, of course, has torn.Even with these two tears the shoe has remain stable and has not lost any functionality. So they are still serving me well on the trail. I just can't wear them out around town periodically as I would like.I sure hope the designers make the one little improvement of extending the plastic over that last little uncovered portion of the lower upper. If they do, I will immediately buy another pair. I'll probably buy a couple of more pairs. Love the shoe.Great shoe, great performance ... ... just one little flaw. February 17, 2013
The 4x4 of all weather shoe Love treking around in these. They keep my feet dry and out of the muck.Great show well worth the money. January 2, 2013
this shoe is very functional i have an old pair of columbia shoes i could not kill. these shoes appear to be made of the same quality and time will tell how they wear. because of the quality they need a little break in and each time i wear them they become more comfortable. August 14, 2012
Keep on Keepin on shoes These are the most comfortable shoes of this type I have worn in a long time. They keep my feet dry and feel great! I've already ordered my second pair. July 7, 2012
Good, all purpose shoe for scrambling, walking or casual !!! As a rock climbing instructor, I use a variety of gear and clothing/footwear.And footwear is important, especially getting to and from the climbing sites. The Talus Ridge has done that for me. Once at the "Crag", it's a good shoe for working around the base and overseeing students and clients in their adventure. And on the street as a casual shoe....great ! The color is really cool and attractive ! June 21, 2012
Great Hiking Shoe I had purchased this shoe with the intent on using it for hiking, but I figured I break them in first with my daily walk to work. Not only did they easily traverse some rough gravel spots, they also gripped climbing and descending steps and of course stayed dry in the rain. I'm still planning on going for many hikes in these shoes, but before I even hit the trail they have lived up to my expectations. June 19, 2012
Dry Feet So far the shoes have done their job of keeping my feet dry. April 2, 2012
Great buy! These shoes are really comfortable, I wear them all day almost everyday. They are great on all terrains and hold up to the elements really well! April 1, 2012
fantastic took this shoe backpacking in rough terrain on the appalachian in pouring rain, while climbing rocks and going through streams.my foot never saw a drop of water even through ankle deep water. a perfect, very comfy stylish everday shoe as well. also a very capable running shoe. BUY THIS SHOE March 28, 2012
Right out of the box and onto the trail! I would not normally think of Columbia as my go to supplier of trail shoes, but after shopping for pants I surfed onto the shoe page and decided to give these a try. I put them on right out of the box and wore them for a weekend backpacking trip (not something I would normally recommend). They fit great, held up well and handled the shallow river crossings without getting my socks wet. I like these shoes and for a company that I would normally only regard as a clothing supplier, I think that Columbia is on the right track with their footwear. March 12, 2012
great shoe Ordered these shoes 3 days ago, got them delivered today and took them out on a 3 mile run immediately after opening the box. They were very comfortable and I was impressed with the lack of weight. Cant wait to test the out-dry aspect, but they were very breathable even in 80 degree weather February 22, 2012
Durable, Vibrant, Light light light! I ordered the shoes online before trying them on. I was apprehensive about doing this because I didn't know how they would be sized (too small or too large). The length of the shoe size was perfect but I did have a problem with the width as did another reviewer. But after wearing them for a few days they adapted to my feet. The first thing I noticed was the vibrancy of the red color in the shoes. I ordered the Picante/Dark Shadow color pattern and the pictures on the website don't do the shoes any justice. They are very rich looking. The other, most important aspect to me was the lightness of the shoe; very light. You can just tell how durable the material is around the toe and in the mesh. The tread is just right for sandy, loamy conditions. My final observation of these shoes is the water repellency. They really are water proof even with the mesh. Very sexy looking shoe. If you call yourself a true trail runner you will want these beasts. January 27, 2012
waterproof lite hiking shoe I needed a new waterproof shoe for hikes in tundra and walks in snow, so I wanted to try the new OutDry concept. These shoes are winners. Feet warm, dry, and happy after going for walks in packed snow, fresh powder, etc. Tundra will have to wait a few months... Very happy with the way the shoe stays dry on the outside, staying light even after hours out in wet/snowy conditions. These shoes come out of the box a bit stiff, but after a few hours getting used to my feet, they felt much better. Very happy with this choice. January 17, 2012
Good first impression I do a lot of walking with a stroller and hiking around our town that is pretty hilly and has adjacent trails. I wanted a waterproof light hiker that I could wear in the winter and rain so I can continue to get out without having to put on boots. So far so good! Only recommendation would be if the shoe could have been made without only synthetic materials as I am not a fan of buying leather. December 30, 2011
Excellent WSU Pullman shoe I bought these for my son by sending him a picture from the store. They fit perfectly, good to know they are sized accurately. They are warm, keep him dry and best of all look like a tennis shoe which was very important to him. He asked for a good water proof, warm shoe but didn't want to wear a boot for walking the hills of campus. Great shoe, great price! November 29, 2011
Solid Winter Shoe Very warm and dry. Sizing is similar to a Nike so 13 fits just right. November 28, 2011
