Women’s Whirlibird™ III Glove 4 5 5 5
I thought my fingertips might fall off! I run cold, so this review might not apply to everyone, but I was FREEZING in these gloves. Because of the Omni-Tech, these gloves are much thinner than gloves I usually wear, presumably because the designers assumed that the thermal reflective interior would keep us warm. I've been skiing in ratty old gloves for years, which are rather quickly disintegrating, so I was really excited to try a brand new pair. I was sold on the Omni-Tech because I have such problems getting cold. Bad mistake! As it turns out, I should have stuck with my old, torn up trusties. I actually had to stop skiing after only two hours on the slopes (says the person who skis from opening until the last lift that's running stops) because my hands were so cold - and this is AFTER I already went inside and tried to warm them up between runs. I'm an advanced skier, skiing on challenging black diamonds, and the rest of my body was plenty warm. I even began skiing with my hands in my pockets, alternating the hand with which I held my poles. I tried a heat pack, but that did nothing for my fingertips, which were still freezing, and also fit awkwardly because the gloves are fit very well. For your consideration, it was both windy and between 10-15 degrees Celsius when I wore these, but I've never been so cold with other gloves. On a side note, some of the stitching was already coming out on my pair, before I had even worn them. This is an issue across the board with gear these days, since companies seem to be valuing quantity over quality, but I was not impressed when I opened the package.Bottom line is I would not recommend these, and I am now in the market for another pair of new gloves. Perhaps this time I will make the smart decision I should have made originally and purchase lined gloves. February 1, 2013
Superb cold-weather protection For years I have been looking for a glove like this. I have Reynaud's Phenomenon, a circulation disorder where I lose circulation if temperatures drop much below 60 degrees. As a native Wisconsinite, this is a problem--but after I bought these gloves (and the Omni-Heat jacket as well), I no longer have problems going out in the winter, even in blizzard conditions. I wholeheartedly recommend any Omni-Heat product, especially these gloves. The size is true-to-fit, and the gloves are extremely comfortable. Though a little bulky for dexterity, they are definitely worth the price! December 20, 2012
Womens Gloves I ordered these gloves for the extended cuff. Other gloves I have do not have such a long and adjusted wrist cover. Now, if we ever get snow so I can try them out! hopefully I will find that they keep the snow off my wrists, and out of my sleeves. Having not been able to use them in the snow yet, I restricted my ratings to good, but am hoping they will be excellent once used for a bit. I also might have ordered small instead, but will keep these anyway. I never considered myself as having small hands before. But the medium feel a little big, although still comfortable.
